Database Info

COUNTRY ID error??

I tried to install the following ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=22591&highlight=ftp+site
I did everything like the instruction said but after a few seconds of collecting data from my MDA, the program on the pc said "Country error 120".
What now? I'm trying to make my german MDA compact into an english one.

Anyway replace the 'ROMUpgradeUt' with 'MAUpgradeUt_noID' available here:
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/Tools
Also don't forget to disable the USB connection by right clicking ActiveSync and unchecking the box.

Disable USB? But if I disable the USB how can upload the ROM files to my MDA? I use a USB connection to connect the MDA to my pc.

Trust me it will work- I only did it yesterday to upgrade my mates ROM to 1.12.
He tried to do it himself but it didn't work. When I did it, the only thing I did different was to disable the USB in Active Sync.
Try it and see if it works... its takes about 20 mins to perform the whole thing.

Not sure if I`m missing something but everytime I attempt to connect to the ftp server above (since I`ve got the same problem) I get "access denied" when I connect via ftp.

Make sure you change the login credentials in Internet Explorer; when you get the access denied message go to File> Login As and change the username xda and password to xda.
If that still doesn't work, use a FTP client software package- some people have reported to have problems with FTP when accessed through Internet Explorer.

Anyway replace the 'ROMUpgradeUt' with 'MAUpgradeUt_noID' available here:

Ummm... where do I put this file? I'm trying to run the exe file called "o2asia_11100_922_11100_ship" with the instructions I got from the link I posted on my first post.
I opened the exe file "o2asia_11100_922_11100_ship" with winzip just to see it's content and it has the "ROMUpgradeUt" file but if I replace it and try to run the exe I don't think it will work as the installer is looking for the original "ROMUpgradeUt" and not "MAUpgradeUt_noID".
That's why I wanted clear instructions because I really don't have a *** clue what I'm doing and I really really REALLY can't use the internet now very much as I can only visit off-work sites at my coffee breaks.
So please, help me, I have all the files now but I don't know what to do with them!

Can't get it to work. Here's what I did:
Extracted all the files from "WWE_11200_128_11210_ship" into d:\mda
Did everything as stated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14973
But doesn't work. I does upgrade, but the upgrade takes like 10 seconds, then it says to cold boot the mda and after a cold boot it is back in German language.
What am I doing wrong? The .bat file I made does some changes and I am doing everything like the instructions say but something must be wrong here. Please help.

Works now, well at least it is now upgrading so something must be rigt... now I just have to wait
And to contribute and help other newbies - The BEST instructions (in my opinion) are those from "NemesisDE" in this thread; http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=14973&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75
See pages 4 and 5. Read the instructions on page 4 and then see page 5 for further info = where to download the large rom file as it's been moved and also get the MaUpgradeUt_noID.
To clarify: After you have the ROM (I used WWE_11200_128_11210_ship), download also MaUpgradeUt_noID.
Then you can proceed with NemesisDE's instructions, they are VERY good. I had no problems converting my german MDA compact into english.
Now this is the type of information I should've gotten yesterday... but now it works, I'm happy.

Install WCF12 wifi card to IPAQ hx2195

I'm new here so sorry if I'm not in the right place. anyways
I got a Linksys cf wifi card WCF12 for my Ipaq hx2195 with wm5. I bought it off ebay and it didn't come with a driver cd or anything.
I have tried the driver from the linksys website but i can't figure out how to install the driver : http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WCF12/target_url
If anyone could give me step by step instructions on how to install the driver or if you know any other drivers that would work that would be great.

How to USB Tether with CyanogenMod MyTouch

If your MyTouch is Rooted and is running on CyanogeMod 4.2.3.1 or Higher here is the step by step instruction on how to USB Tether.
This will only work for Windows PCs.

1. Download HTCSync from this link: http://www.htc.com/hero/m/files/downloads/HTCsync.zip
2. UnZip file and run he HTCSync.exe file
3. Finish Installing program.
4. Go to Settings on MyTouch
5. Go to Wireless Controls
6. Put a check on "Internet Tethering" (it is at the bottom)
7. Connect your phone to USB Cable.
8. Open up a internet browser.
9. Your Done.

Hmmm, that's strange. I tether my laptop with my phone and I never had to download HTC sync. It just worked right off the bat for me. Oh well, this how to should help beginning members who are trying to tether. Good work.

absolutely no need to install htcsync.

It has already been said but I also didn't have to install HTC Sync
I'm running 4.2.5

works with ubuntu 9.10 as well. just plug in and enable tethering. no software needed.

Can't get it to work on Mac OS X 10.5. When I enable USB tethering nothing happens. No new network interfaces, no reaction at all.

It worked for my buddy w/o software but not for me.
I'm installing the software now..

the HTCsync was developed for people who use Windows XP. that's why you people don't have to install it - because you aren't on Windows XP. and to the fellow with the mac, good god ditch that thing and get yourself a real lappy

i'm on xp and i didnt have to download anything, it just worked...

Ok I have followed the steps to the Tee...and I am getting an odd problem. I install the htc driver that was provided, but whenever I connect my G1 after enabling tethering, my computer (win xp) says "problem installing hardware" and the internet is not connection. It says "detecting HTC phone" and stuff like that but then it just fails and it doesn't work. This does NOT happen whenever I use regular USB mode but is only happening whenever I try the tethering. Any help?

Wifi cannot connect after using idroid explorer, please help

Hi all, I seem to encounter this strange problem after rooting my captivate using idroid explorer to install a apk file. Is this a problem with me rooting it incorrectly or what did I not do right? Whenever i use idroid explorer, putting my phone in usb debug mode, and installed a apk file, my wifi just won't work anymore. I tried disconnecting it from the network and reconnecting and that would not work!
Does anyone know what is the problem? In order to solve it I have to reboot the phone everytime Could someone please help me, I search all in this thread and google and I couldn't find any answer. Thank you so much, I am very new to this whole android scene.

[Q] Mac spoofing

How do I spoof a mac address on my OnePlus One?
It seems to be impossible. The usual apps fail and so does a manual ifconfig shell.
Anyone got a clue on this? Help would be really appreciated.

I need to spoof MAC adress on my OPO, i've tired all the apps but everytime the MAC seems changed succesfully but when i try to connect to my router, the phone have issues to autenticate. My router has only a wpa, and in the android WIFI menu i see: "saved" on the connection.

SOLUTION!!
Ok, i've been searching for month how to spoof MAC address on our device, but anybody helped me.
So i've tried all possible steps to change the MAC address and finally i've done it!
Here's the procedure i've followed:
1. (Requirements) Have a rooted device. (i don't know if busybox is required but in doubt, install it)
2. Install a file manager (Root explorer reccomended)
3. Go in settings, wifi, tap the three point at bottom right, advanced, and disable "scanning always avaible"
4. Open Root Explorer and go in this directory: /sys/devices/fb000000.qcom.wcnss-wlan and you'll find a file called: "wcnss_mac_addr"
5. Open "wcnss_mac_addr" with text editor
6. you'll see only your current MAC address. You can just edit it (edit only last digit recomended) and Save changes.
7. Disable and re-enable Wifi, and you've just edited your MAC address! Enjoy
Important: The Mac address will restore as default everytime you reboot your phone.
