Hi!
I have an O2 XDA EXEC. I upgraded its RAM to 128MB. While using Tomal's ROM, as per the advise I Doc Formatted the device using the following commands in MTTY:
USB>task 32
USB>task 28 55aa
After the command the things worked fine and I was able to successfully install the Tomal ROM. After a couple of days I wanted to downgrade to WM5 and I used the original O2 XDA EXEC WM5. The strange thing that happened was that though the installation was successful yet after the O2 splash screen a white screen appeared making it impossible to align the screen as it is required by Windows at startup.
I tried a couple of other WM5 versions but the result remains the same. I'll appreciate some advise in this respect so that I may be able to install any of the WM5 version available on my O2 XDA EXEC.

Haque

All links are working fine here.

So, the problem is me or my machine.. donna know...
By the way, upgrading bootloader is not necessary - everything works with BL 1.00

thats interesting, someone reported to me that 1.00 wasn't working (i have 2.01 so dont know )
OFF TOPIC:
how can i extract a bootloader dumped to sd card in windows or mac or linux? (preferably mac or linux cause they have sd card readers and i can't find my usb one)
Just to confirm that mine's still working fine with Bootloader 1.00 (as if anyone would doubt Mamaich!)
freezing problem with ActiveSync 4.2
Do not connect the Universal to your desktop unless you have ActiveSync 4.5 installed in the desktop or it will freeze your device.
Disable ActiveSync connection in Universal until ActiveSync is updated.
ActiveSync 4.5 beta 2

Regarding instruction 7:
# Put the Universal in bootloader mode by pressing Power + Light + Reset, which brings up an un-backlit screen with "Serial" at the top, and "v0.XX" at the bottom. (A lot of people get an error message if they are not in bootloader mode. They can install the ROM a second time. If you are in bootloader mode, you won't get an error message.)
I dont get what you mean by press Power + Light + Reset? Are you talking about the button on the phone? On my O2 XDA Atom Exec there is no light button..cuz when i open the bootloader exe it goes this is not a valid win 32 program. Bootloader is not meant to be opened from the PDa but from your computer but i cant open it.

So, is an O2 XDA Atom Exec an HTC Universal then?

Probably why it doesnt work..so i cant upgrade to WM6? I realyl dont get why Australia only have the ATOM and not the Exec?
Quick Question
I upgraded to WM6CB which I aquired from torrentspy, and the upgrade was sucessful. The device turns on after upgrade, and the extROM loads up. After the reset, a window pop-ups saying that I have illegally aquired this ROM. Im not sure what I did wrong. I used the maUpgrade file aswell. Any help is appreaciated.

I've never seen that, sounds like someone's either added in that popup as a joke, or it's from a ROM dump of one of the RTM or MVP builds, and your devices IMEI is different to the one it was for.
I know MVP's had the option of getting Crossbow, but they had to send their device to Microsoft to have it flashed. Perhaps these builds have something coded to the IMEI.
used BL 0.60 successfullty

Hi!
I have using it for 2 days. Initailly it seem difficult to install soft. But now easer, the RAM still down like WM 05, Soft Reset time quite longer then Ivan test 2's ROM. But the icon look very nice.
Alan, i think u should add the solution for "stuck in the bootloader" problem, by using UNI_exitbootloader.exe. this is much simple than using mtty IMHO.
I've tried to upgrade my beloved never failed me Universal to mobile 6 making the mistake of trying it on Vista.
Vista crapped out on me right at the end, but the phone apeared OK and keyboard works for a full soft reset from the boot loader how ever once windows 6 is fully loaded I loose the keyboard functionality. I've tried a couple of versions from the forums which all seem to load corectly but I can't seem to recover the keyboard. ( Now uploading using easy sync 4.5 on XP )
I've also tried rolling bck to the original XDA EXEC from O2 but its no longer available. Tried a T-Mobile version which complains on the country code.
Can any-one sugest whats going wrong and or how to fix it or am I now the proud owner of a good looking paper weight?
Thanks

Try this
http://rapidshare.com/files/78099772/Xda_Exec_Upgrade_v1.30.162.exe.html
this is the original xda exec (wm5) rom. Try this and you should be OK. If it doesn't work you may need to use mtty as per wiki pages. Write back if it does't work.
Hope that helps....

You followed the instructions (ie using custom drivers) for Vista, right?
If so, try MTTY and reinstall (instructions in wiki, in page that described how to flash a new ROM)
Up and running
Thanks for the advice guys. Rolling back to the original code and upgrading ( With SDCARD removed ) seemed to to do the trick. V-Happy
Would now like to try a SIP image. ( Glutton for punishment ) Any recomendations?

Hi to all.
First of all i did search on this problem and did not find definitive solution. (If I'm wrong please point me in right direction)
Second, the problem itself. I heave prophet with IPL and SPL 2.20.0001 (G4) which after upgrade to wm6.1 (with hardspl) doesn't see a memory card at all. I heave after that flashed it several times with different versions of WM5 and WM6.1 but it did not help. IS there any solution to this since this is clearly problem with ROM (storageReader can see a memory card and use it)
thx for any info.
after some fideling i finaly got it right. as it seams it must be formated to fat and not to fat32 to work.
sooo the question now is how to make it work with fat32?....
Hello,
before I get into my problem description: yes, I did read all (or most of) the upgrade and troubleshoot guides in this forum, but I still can't figure out what's going wrong when I try to flash a 6.1 ROM. So any help is appreciated.
Device: G3 S200
here is what I did:
hardSPL
flash the ROM with a 6.1 ROM found in this forum (I tried 4 or 5 different ones by now)
hard reset
the problem: the device is stuck in the tri-colored bootloader screen after the upgrade (I still have the USB connection)
I can go back to the old AKU2.2 image, but any upgrade to WM6.1 seems to fail.
A more bit of info: I did successfully upgrade my device to an AKU 3 image a year (?) ago (following the instructions from this forum). That worked like a charm.
My PC runs XP SP2 and ActiveSync 4.5.
Does anybody have any idea, what could be going on? I would hate to have to go back to an AKU 2.2 ROM :-(
Thanx a million!
Katrin
successful upgrade
Hello,
just wanted to report back that after some more trying, I finally managed to get a 6.1 image working. I used the "alternative lazy tool" mentioned in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353547 with a pdaviet rom.
Thank you to everybody on this forum for all the great work and for sharing it with the rest of us!
Thanx,
Katrin

Hi!
I am facing problem with my Orange SPV M5000. The device hangs up. I have to reset the device and after the Windows splsh screen a blank page appears and the device hangs. I have to take the battery and the Sim from the phone and then without putting in the Sim restarts the phone. It, then, behaves normally and boots properly. Then I put the Sim again and restarts the device and then it boots normally.
I have flashed the device with a number of cooked ROMs and the result is the same. I have noticed that normally this happens whenever I put my device in the pocket of my trouser and on certain other occassions as well. Have already get my device checked for any loose connections. Everything seems in order.
I would appreciate if I am guided on this.

Haque

Hi!
Yes, have Doc Formatted the device as well between flashing, but the results are the same.

try
Try following method:
1. Doc Format
2. Flash WM5 (one with SDHC support)
3. Make HR while on WM5
4. Re-flash cooked ROM (I'll suggest Goldrake WM6.1 )

I do not consider myself an "expert", but have you tried replacing the battery?
Just trying to eliminate possible causes.

Hi! Orb! Thanks for the tip. Haven't tried as yet but I will do this. A brief of the issue for more clarity:
I have got my device's RAM upgraded and it worked perfectly alright with flashing and testing of one version or another. No issue at all at that time.
The problem started from the time, I first DOC formatted and flashed the ROM by Tomal. The command I used was TASK 32 and the TASK 28 55aa as stated in the instructions using MTTY 1.42. Since then, I was not even able to run WM5 (but the other cooked versions worked fine). Have tried skiping the screen calibaration process using some utility and found that WM5 worked good but once a soft reset is done or the device is switched off, the screen does not appear. Once flashed with WM5, after the device logo screen, either a white or a colored screen appears or after the windows splash screen preventing the OS to boot up and the processes after that. While installing any other ROM, the device worked 100% okay.
Afterwards, I noticed that the device started to hang up even using any ROM despite a number of soft/ hard resets. Have also noticed that the device started malfunctioning and does not boot when the SIM is inserted. After trying for a few times the device starts working with the SIM. Once the device is restarted even with full 100% battery the blank screen appears and the device does not go beyond this. Taking the battery off for a couple of minutes will help the device to boot properly but after a number of tries.
Have Doc formatted the device a number of times, hard resetted but to no use. Installed almost every cooked version the result is the same. Even got the device checked by the mobile repair shop and it was said that the device is okay hardware-wise and if it is mis-behaving it is because of the software.
Guys I need help to save my device.

Haque
Well,,I'm not an expert too.. But from your story it looks like something is wrong, either with your device (some intermittent problem with SIM card circuit inside) or the SIM card it self. Why not you try to change the SIM card first? To make sure that there are no problems with your device, bring it to HTC authorized service center..

Hi! Thanks for the advise. I'll take my mobile and get it rechecked at the repair center. As regard the SIM card, I have already checked it and there's no problem with it.
