Here is the thread concerning the Polaris ROM / Radios.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=370079
Here is a link to the Radio's.

Have had no issue with it thus far. Connections are very quick...battery life is still undetermined but that last Polaris Radio I was trying worked very well. I will step outside to try out the GPS. Signal strength seesm to be the same but I need to do some more testing on this. While driving today I usually lose connection at one spot and I didn't have this happen today.
GPS worked great got a lock in Google Maps in 1 second...no joke.

Seems to be working great on Dutty's latest WM6.1 build.
Thanx alltheway! Man, do You never sleep?
Any battery life test result on this one?
Edit: Someone beat me to this question, sorry
I do not know alltheway, Radio numbers are really confusing, we do not know change logs between them I got 1.58.26.20 on my Kaiser (an official Radio released with the 3.02 build)
Howyou like Dutty's WM6.1? I like it, ut having issue with BT voice speed dialer. Usually when I press the botton on BT headset, it will beep and start voice dialer. It works for a short while and then stop working. Everytimes when I press the bottom, it goes to phone pad screen..... strange...
Now back to 3.03, which I have less issues... any suggestion?
Alltheway??

Oh man...you try to bring down my glory. Just kidding. No actually if there is a way that we can compare them I'm all ears. Maybe its just the same as Kaiser 1.58 radio.
Anybody know how we might solve that.

No I haven't done any yet but I will here shortly. I need to do some testing on battery life on Dutty's as the base ROM. I will let you know when I get around to this.

Man...I would really like to keep this thread clean of those issues. I would really appreciate if we keep this thread centered on Radio's. Post the question in Dutty's thread. Much appreciated
Has anybody else tried this radio?

Of course. I extracted it as well (thanks to some info from a pretty good friend) and am having pretty good results thus far.
Battery life with radio 1.58.25.14 with Dutty's ROM: Battery life will last for 411 min. Not bad for this Radio / ROM combo. I'm going to test the other one now. I don't think 1.58.25.14 gave me very good reception inside my office but then again I barely get one bar.

I don't know if it was ever conclusive that we needed a Polaris Radio or not. Anybody else know about this, or if it's possible.
So, this should work on Sleuths 6.1? If so I will give it a go

Alltheway,
I have tried the radio you provide, but ti did not give me a clear reception compare with 1.64s. No sure of battery life, but the sound quality was good as 1.64. I am in Los Angeles area.
Hello everybody,
I am pretty much a beginner with all of this stuff.
Last night I successfully installed Dutty's WM6.1 on my ATT Tilt. I noticed that my sound wasn't working, so his wiki says to install a radio if your sound doesn't work.
I read through the radio sticky, and I am still unsure of which radio to choose.... Which radio is best for the ATT Tilt in the USA with Dutty's 6.1 Rom?
Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Thank you for the reply, however I am still a bit confused.
I understand that I may choose from these radios:
World Wide - 1.58.26.20
World Wide - 1.64.06.04
UK - 1.64.08.21
Polaris - 1.58.21.23
Polaris - 1.58.25.14
But which one is best for the ATT Tilt in the USA?

the answer depends on your area. I have literally tried all of them and currently 1.64.06.04 is the one for me. They all worked, its just that .04 gave me better battery life and better reception percentage wise compared to the others. Each individuals experience will be different.
I agree. I've used almost all of them. It doesn't hurt anything to change them. Flash one for a day, flash the next one the next day. You don't lose your settings and data when you ONLY flash the radio.
I am in the LA/OC area of California on ATT and am using the Vega R1 rom with 1.64.08.21 and have good performance with that radio on this and the Sleuth 3.0 rom.
Cheers

Ok, so I flashed 58.26.20 onto my phone. And now, i dont have all the cool features I had after I flashed Dutty's WM6.1. The contact list changed back to the factory style, as did the messaging. The only thing that looks the same is the today screen...
Any idea what this may be?

Hi all masters in the forum
I started this to learn more about all diferent radios existing for Uni, and to know from the ones with more knowledge wich has best signal, best batery consumption, etc.
Hope you all be interested in this
Thanks!
Gracias
For me the best radio version is 1.15.00, no crashes no signal lost, for the time with 1.18.00 i have a lot of problems, in one way it also depends and from mobile operator
1.18.00 also gave me nothing but trouble. 1.15.00 and 1.17.00 are by far more stable and crashed but a handful of times on me. That was on a WM 6.1 ROM though and I am not even sure if it really was due to the radio or main ROM. That said, I am not sure if any of the upgrades ever brought any increase in radio performance. The general advice here really is "if it ain't broken don't fix it" because there is (nearly) nothing to be gained.
I'm using radio 1.18.00 here with original T-Mobile UK WM5 from 2005 (3 years ago!). No problems whatsoever.

Hi All,
As Telstra natively sell / support the Kaiser, I was wondering whats success have you been having with which radio rom??
I was using 1.65.24.36 but as im talking to people the volumes fades down and then comes back up.
So mission is to find the best radio for this carrier.
Cheers
Test.

Ok, I've been on here a while and I've flashed many custom ROMs and many radio versions for my HTC P4600. And I know that the "best" radio version for one person may not be the best for another person based on their location, etc. But, that's my problem.
I tend to travel on occasion and I need my phone to have at least as good of reception as everyone else when I'm away because I use it for work. I can't really go to Wyoming and "test" which radio works best there, then go to Orlando and "test" which radio works best there, much less keep several radio versions to flash before I get there. I've read on here that some level of experimentation is necessary to find what works best, but I can't really go cross-country and try each version out ahead of time.
I know that "what's the best radio version" is a topic that tends to get flames, "read the sticky you noob!" type comments, etc. but I'm really wondering if anyone who does a lot of traveling in the U.S. has a radio version that seems to be at least universally average on their Raphael. Maybe not the absolute best, mind you, but one that works pretty reliably well in a variety of locations. My current ROM is in my signature line, as is my radio version. I'm only using radios that are compatible with the Raphael (not trying to port over another device's radio or anything).
So, is there a "best" radio for general use in a variety of locations?

(Sparking his lighter, Bruce responds.....)
I think the radio performance depends on your carrier and location, for example a radio on an A&T device will work the same on the same network (AT&T) regardless of where it is.
But since this forum is international, thats where you run into the location issue.
Best to look at Mods or Seniors that have the same carrier and are in the same network and test those radios.
Some may prefer better HSDPA than GPS which is a trade off for some radios.
The radio in your signature should work just about as good as any other radio out there.
That helps greatly

Ah, international locations. I didn't make that distinction. Good to know that about my current radio as well. Thanks for the info.
N00b question:
When I hear discussions on "radios" I always though we was talking about the FM radio. So are we talking about the phone radio software or the FM radio?
phone firmware radio not the fm one lol.

Radio ROMs available for your Raphael
The Radio stack in your Raphael is responsible for the connections via GSM and UMTS(3G) - things such as reception and download speeds, etc are affected by the radio stack. Generally some issues with poor reception and bad call quality can be remedied by updating your radio stack using one of the versions found below.
The radio stack is not responsible for wifi or bluetooth connections. This is catered for by the drivers inside the ROM itself.
To find out your current radio version, go to start>settings>system(tab)>Device Information. Your radio version will be displayed there along with some other information about your ROM and protocol versions.
