how to disable initial screen calibration in windows mobile 6.5 - General Questions and Answers

Is they a way to disable screen calibration on 1st boot in winmo 6.5?
I heard of such trick to connect the phone to the computer wen its at calibration, then browse to startup folder n delete a shortcut with the computer then soft reset and it will bypass.
I need it to be able to use my phone with a mouse bc touchscreen dont werk nemore.I wanna flash to a new rom that doesnt have it disabled.
Also how can it be cooked in?

I believe you need to put a file called "welcomenot" on the root of your storage card (no quotes and no file extension). Just rename a blank text file that and give it a shot.

yeah it werks! thanks.

There is another way for skipping screen alignment

thanks a lot it works fine on lg gm750 layala
i just created a new folder with pocket controller pro which i named '' welcome.not"
placed at the root of the device and rebooted

the welcome.not folder worked
Actually I misread it and put the folder on the memory card.
Unfortunately I'm now stuck at the connection setup asking if I want to continue...but the yes/no options are not having an effect.
These buttons worked before.
HardSPL Error 202 at initial screen calibration.
HardSPL Error 246 at Connection Setup.

not working

I'm a beginner and I need help and patience with my weather set up

I search the forums and the net but sometime answers are very complicated and after reading some posts I have more questions than answers.
I have a tilt and follow all your instructions. Or most of them. I installed the HTC Home Customizer and I want to customize the weather forecast with my town Niceville / 32578. But it does not work. What should I do?
Thanks
OK, this is it. Use a program called total commader to do the copy and pasting first of all.
now, go HERE for the rest of the instructions.

Here is a .cab that should solve step 4 issues. D/l and run from device, continue to step 5. Not trying to step on toes, just think this would solve the issue for anyone having issues w/ this.

You may have to install sdk cert before running the cab.

MiniWeather for the VOX

Hey guys... just released a new chome weather version that should work with the VOX also. Can somebody give it a shot ?
I can't seem to get it to install,
Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions.
I'm using version 3 of Zeeshee ROM.
Cheers,
Same for me! Same rom. Btw, both weather progs delete my clock icon and blackscreen is not possible to load. (mini with dr.gonzo 6.1 rom)
Everything works!
Extract from cab all files for Windows directory and place them into the device.
Delete this files from cab and save cab.
Modify cab working.
Works brilliant .. Thanks a lot keep it up ... i like the background on the pictures what you post there . it will be great if you send it as well . cheers

I still can't get it to work.
Can someone upload the modified cab please.
Thank you.

Thank you it works perfect now.
Got it to work, sort of, so please help.
weather.yahoo.com gives me NLXX001 as code
Doesn't seem to do anything
(And so is c>f not working)
Are we still using weather.yahoo.com as source?
I had already installed the original MiniWeather on my on my vox (Orange E650) and all was OK except that in portrait mode the weather image didn't show on the clock tab whereas it did in portrait mode. So I decided to install the vox version to see if it would be fixed.
Unfortunately I've found that the files can't be copied over to the device's Windows folder because Resco says they already there as read-only files in ROM and therefore cannot be overwritten. So after installing the 1.0b CAB I get the following error when I initially select options:
Unknown command: "nu=timestamp"
Line 13(\program files\nrg\chomeminiweather\SetOptions.mscr):nu=TimeStamp()
Is there anything that can be done? Would the clock/weather Image have been fixed anyway? If not I'll revert to the previous version
Thanks and nice program !!!
can someoene post a home screen to show how this should look. Its messed up on mine i believe I get 2 panels - the first one works but the image is messed up. The second one says "forecast" but in there it just says "push centre button to update, push right softkey marked options to set your options"
I had trouble copying the two chome files to the windows directory - it said I didnt have permission to copy them.
can anyone assist ?
Frottage........ It sounds like you've had a similar problem to mine above.
If you can't copy the files over the install doesn't work properly.
I've reverted to the non-Vox version and all now seems OK on my Orange E650 with Dr.Gonzo's 5.2.19195 Rom
Try using the Resco Explorer trial to copy them across. It's because the files it's trying to replace are in ROM. Resco worked on my Dr. Gonzo E650.

It doesn't matter where you put the .cab on your device (I have all of mine to my storage card). Once it is on the device navigate to the .cab and run it, it will install to where ever it belongs.

Instead of using winrar to extract the files from the .cab file, just save the .cab file itself onto your card and run it from your phone. Hopefully this isn't a case of the noob leading the noob, but I think that's how you do it.
Please do a little leg work before posting.

SMS Reply Space Enlarging

If your SMS Reply area is too small and/or covered by the keyboard, you can adjust the space where you type in your reply by doing the following:
1. Connect your phone via Active sync to your PC.
2. In activeSync window, click on Tools/ExplorePocketPC/MyWindowsBasedDevice/Windows and,
3. locate a file with the name "thread_sms.htm", copy then paste in a folder on your PC.
4. Right Hand click on the "thread_sms.htm" the one you copied on your PC and Click Open with Notepad.
5. Locate the line that reads "<Inbox:content id="COMPOSESUBJECT" width="98%" height=## spell" ( ## maybe 30 or 40 or whatever).
6. Change the height=## spell" to 90.
7. Click on save and exit.
8. copy the file you just modded to your Windows directory on your device via ActiveSync. It will replace the existing file and now you increased the SMS typing area by at least 75%.
open the attached htm with note pad and you will see what I mean.
Here is the content of the HTM file:

sorry to hear about your issue Stylez... Have you tried to do it the manual way? Just locate the htm file by the name of thread_sms.htm in your device windows directory, copy it onto your pc then open it with note pad. After that just change the hight value where it is at hight=30 now as shown here: COMPOSESUBJECT" width="98%" height=90. Click on save then copy the saved file to the device windows directory to replace the existing htm and you are set.
Again, sorry for the mishap with the provided copy.

It is gonna take a while as I started the project months ago, then put it off, and now I am re-thinking it and testing various options and setting my kitchen.
Thank you
Asfoor,
Another good tips. Thanks!
I use Xplore (from LonelyCatGames.com) and copy the file from Windows, do edit (it has nice text editor) and replace original. I kill Tmail.exe from process first, and replace the file. It works great (but I think I'll change that to 60 .. too big for me )
Now on your new ROM, can I request some enhancement from Athine Jan 22?
Upon booting, the SIM lock input always got superseded by the M2D. When I used L26's TF3D V4, it stays on SIM lock until I keyed in the PIN and then it continues. I think as a phone, this is a more usual behaviour.
For Athine, I do a workaround by invoking green phone button, put the PIN, and press red button to exit, but it's not as smooth as expected.
Also, do you have idea why autopick on network (ISP) not working? It goes to the first on the list, failed (because I'm on another ISP SIM), but doesn't change or pick the next (which is the correct ISP). I have to manually select.
I tried searching around the forum, it seems that it never works .. ??

I found that if the Phone's lock (simple PIN from Setting, not S2U2 pswd) is activated, it'll stay longer on SIM lock PIN screen after reboot. Not sure if the info is useful

[Q] Help on i601 Wrongly Updated with i608 ROM

Hi there,
I am writing to look for kind help from you guys on the i601 which was wrongly updated with a i608 ROM and was caused to possess no phone function at all, though it can be powered on to the home screen with some basic functions like file exploring. Now it has no phone function, and lots of other functions like power signal, user configuration menu, and etc. are not working either. The worst is it doesn't respond when I connect it with my PC via ActiveSync (seems the USB port is not funcitoning as well).
I'm not sure what kind of information should be given to let you guys better understand the symptoms but here is a few of information that might be a little bit insightful:
By keying in *#1546792*#:
Windows Mobile 6 Standard
CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)
Radio Version 0
RIL Version 2.002
... ...
By entering into Setting mode:
PDA Version
i608ZTGI2
Phone Version
(it is left blank )
Eboot Version
i608ZTGI2
I would love to see if you can shred me a light if and how I can fix it. All kind of help is highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Thorn_pl,
I am always grateful and thankful to see a reply from someone who are trying to help others. Thanks a lot in advance for your kind advice.
To be exact, now the phone cannot be recognized by ActiveSync after plugging in through the USB port. I check through the files inside the phone and found that many sub-folders under Windows are empty, such as:
/My Device/ConnMgr
/My Device/Documents and Settings/default
/My Device/Documents and Settings/Samsung
/My Device/Program Files/Connections
/My Device/Windows/Activesync/ (only one file named CtrlLog)
/My Device/Windows/Systems/ (only some empty folders like CertDtls, ConfigMgr, DumpFiles, SQM, CabQueue)
Can someone be kind enough to teach me how to at least make it connectable with ActiveSync so that I can try flashing again a ROM to this phone?
Also if it can be done, I need to locate where i601 ROM would be available.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi dermann,
Thankyou for the reply.
The first headache to me is now my PC doesn't recognize the phone through the USB port. I have been looking around on the web and found some Samsung USB Driver files and had them installed in my PC. But it doesn't help at all, my phone cannot be recognized correctly (a few times it was recognized as Unknown Device). So when I power on my phone on BL mode and link it with WCEDownloader trying to flash, the START button is disabled.
I don't know if there can be solutions to make my PC recognize the phone again and am really frustrated at the moment. The only good thing is now I basically know how to flash a Samsung mobile phone and have collected bunches of ROMs and software.
See if someone know how to troubleshoot it.
Anyway, thanks a lot.
ok I have an idea... but I'm at work at the moment. when I get home I'll see if my idea does anything. I'll let you know.
edit!!! was just thinking. what os is your computer running? xp, vista, w7...
if your phone comes up as unknown device, that's better than nothing. here's what i'm going to do... i'll up load the usb drivers from my 607, and we'll see if that changes anything.
edit#2!!! ok here they are, along with the usb registry. put .dll's in windows folder on phone and import the .reg using a registry editor. soft reset after you do all that. let me know how things go.

Hi dermann,
Thanks for the valuable advice.
My PC is running on XP.
Last night i just uninstalled all the SAMSUNG USB Drivers I installed with the following driver pack I could located on earth:
Samsung CDMA Driver
Samsung Composite Drivers
Samsung USB Driver MCCI 4.34 WHQL
Samsung CDMA Modom 4.34
etc. etc.
Typically a shoot in the dark. Haha...
Now I will try to re-install them one by one to find out actually which one would be that particular driver that did at least recognize an "unknown device" (if I have luck... haha...) and make it a likely viable connection first.
There is another symptom that I didn't mention before, and it is that the phone cannot read the Micro SD card, not sure if it is me that I don't know how to explore the content on the card or it is the phone that it card-reading function is disabled as well (It is always strange when I explore the content in different folders and find out many system folders are empty... as I said before).
Let me spend some time on "wrestling" with the USB connection symptom first and the next is to see if I can make something out with your attached file.
Wish me luck.
Millions thanks again to you dermann. Will keep you posted of my status until I officially announce it a brick. Haha...
Have a nice day!
Hi Dermann,
Yet I cannot find the right USB Driver to install on my PC running XP, though the phone can read the MicroSD card now. Unfortunately after I copied all your files in the card (putting into a sub-folder), the phone can show only one file named USB, all the dll's files are now shown. And therefore I cannot really copy them into the Windows folder as you recommended. Do you know what would be the cause to this situation and how I can tackle this issue.
Anyway, it is a step closer. Thanks again and look for your generous advice.
Have a nice day.
ok, if you can install programs. try installing another file explorer like Resco Explorer, or one like it. if you use the the original explorer than the files will be hidden.

OK!
I will find this program and try installing into my phone right after I get back home tonight. Got to go. Time to relieve myself from this headache... Haha...
Thanks again for your prompt reply. And will get back to you tomorrow and hopefully you still have patience to help someone who is not very smart and savvy with technical stuffs like me.
Have a nice day.

Hi dermann,
I copied the unzipped folder to the root directory of my MicroSD card, run the "Explorer" and now it can display the content inside folders. However, the strange thing is:
I copied the unzipped files you gave me yesterday into the MicroSD card, when I use the new explorer to browse the files, still only the one named "USB" is shown and all the dlls files are hidden. I can see them only when I use the "Find" Command in the menu of Explorer (find *.*). By doing so they can be visible together with that USB file in the same folder. Unfortunately in the "Find" Menu I cannot find any command such as COPY or CUT so that I can copy them into the /Windows as you instructed.
So now I am kind of stuck at how to copy these files into the folder of \Windows.
Would love to get some kind advice from you.
Thanks a lot.
ok, sorry for the late response. just getting off a 14 hour work day. ok the file explorer... head to menu\options\general\browser, and uncheck everything. then head to the folder you have the files in and click action left soft key, and their is the copy, move, ect.. to move everything over at once click your star key "*" and check mark all the files, then copy or move them. you'll want to overwrite the files that are already their.

ok I have an idea... but I'm at work at the moment. when I get home I'll see if my idea does anything.

Dear Dermann,
Thanks for your generous advice.
The EXPLORER works exactly the way you told me. Now I've succeeded into copying all the files (named USB and the other 5 dlls files) into my phone's /WINDOWS folder.
But I cannot quite understand the next step you wrote "... and import the .reg using a registry editor..." How can it be done or it has been done already by copying all the files into /WINDOWS folder?
Maybe you can advise the next step when you are free. Sorry to have bothered you with this. You needn't give me reply when you are busy with your work or enjoy your leisure time. Just write me when you are really free and don't have better things to do, I can wait very patiently.
Thanks again and you have a nice weekend.

Thanks so much for your kindness.
Actually after my post Dermann was kind enough to help me by sending me a CAB file that would let me "import" the registry into the system of my phone. I guess it did import the registry successfully. Unfortunately, after copying all the dll files and importing that particular registry, it didn't change the overall picture - my phone still cannot be recognized when connecting via the USB port, just "Unknown Device" is shown.
It is still a deadlock to me.
Anyway, thanks for the offer and I appreciate it very much.
Thanks.

i think the only option that's left is to go to a samsung service center! they have the hardware for it to restore your device to the original firmware!
