hey everyone,
I am new here but i have been along time windows mobile user and I've always had samsung pda's hence thts where sammyluva comes from.I just got the tp2 yesterday and I realized when the screen is tilted and I touch the screen with my finger it wiggles back and forth. is defected or is tht normal.
Also at one point I had my headset connected and i got a call. picked up no sound at all, almost like it was on mute. I soft reset it and it worked. Has this happened to anyone else?
GPS lag is there as well. I heard some people did a hard reset, did this work and improve the gps lag?
thank you in advance everyone!
Never had the wiggles on the tilted screen, interesting.
Headset? More info needed!
Lag is improved out of the box over prior models, but what app are you running? If it's a 3rd party paid app, you might want to download the fix from HTC.
Google Maps picks up within a few seconds, and works much better than any other phone I have had (iphone or other htc models!). Driving, you get a little lag, but that's probably the best it will ever get.
Hello Syntrix, the screen doesnt wiggle by itself, but when its fully tilted and you touch it with your finger it moves back and forth. Not sure if its normal or not as i've never had pda with a tilt screen before.
As for the headset, I was wearing a regular headphone and I got a call when I answered the call I couldnt hear the person that called and they couldnt hear me. I soft reset and it didnt happen since.
For the gps, I am using TOM TOM 7 and the lag was very bad today that its almost useless to use it as a gps.
Not a headset problem but I lost sound from the speaker while connected to the cars BT. I reset the phone and it fixed itself. Last night while home, I lost all sound and had to reset. Stock VZ TP2.
sammy, i have same problem with the wiggle. It has gotten worse over time. wasn't there when i first got it. now it no longer clicks in to place tilted back to flat. wiggles all the time.
i got a replacement from verizon under the 30 day worry free, same problem. I called HTC they said it shouldn't do that. the rep had one in front of him and said it stayed stiff. very frustrated ...love the phone but i guess I just live with it until next phone.

OK, am I the first person in Uk to return my with a fault !!??
The earpiece has failed, not even a squawk comes out from it. The head set and speaker phone still works though.
Devicewire.com wouldn't take it back even though its still in the DOA time-scale. Well at least that was the story until I got HTC on the case. I then decided to send it back to HTC anyway on the basis that they'll probably have more stock.
This isn't a moan the phone is superb, I just figured that it could be the start of a 'known faults' thread.
The SD slot cover won't close on mine. Apparantly, HTC devices are prone to this fault. However, everything else is working perfectly so I actually chose not to send it back to HTC - didn't want to take the risk of waiting weeks and weeks for another...

Mine is dead also.
Besides from the phone speaker, all other components work OK. Can only make phone calls using the speaker on the back or via a (BT) headset. I am afraid mine has to go back to HTC also.

Mine earpiece had also failed and I returned it back to Devicewire for replacement.
After using my TC for a long voice call or with bluetooth or WiFi or GPS, the top part of the set becomes warm and when you run your finger across the START menu bar, an "unglueing" sound is heard.
This happens only when the TC set is warm - apparently the top part of the screen becomes unstuck or the glue was not applied correctly.
Had to demonstrate to HTC several times before they decided that it was a faulty set.

Apparently this happens to some sets only. I would recommend that you insist for a replacement set or at least a replacement screen.
I was so irritated by that noise that I was even prepared to pay for a replacement screen myself if HTC insisted that it was not a problem.
Fortunately, I managed to get a replacement set as I was within my 14 day 1-1 exchange policy.
ive had problems with wifi, bluetooth and camera. ive also returned my unit to HTC
I had problems with Bluetooth, Wifi, text messages... Also returned for repair. Hope they send me an iphone back instead...
I sent mine back. I had crappy bluetooth and bad reception, it would drop calls in areas with full signal. Would drop the calls even more when using bluetooth headset.
Mine is back to HTC for repairs (speaker problem).
Wonder how long it will take them to repair it.
Robin
I also have a faulty unit bought in the UK. I bought it in London, near the British Museum.
My FM tuner and my bluetooth are totally broken. The volume button is too hard to slide.
my first o2 set had a wonky screen, not square in device. my 2nd one the screen was positioned over to the left plus some oily/lcd residue on the middle of both screens, like liquid crystal when you push the display, except this was visible without pressure. plus my first one the jog dial wasnt central and leaned over,, awaiting my third handset, tiresome, epsecially when you look at the price of these things! if id bought one outright, id get my money back i think. shame though, as is a great piece of hardware, just let down by assembly :'(
(oh and video drivers)
BT, Earphone and Radio - Gee!!!
Once upon a time I was about to enter an airplane and then selected Flight Mode.
After that, no more Radio, Bluetooth, neither Earphone.
USB earphones and speakerphone are okay.
Some apps do not register accordingly (bug in using the FlashToPermMem function).
Sometimes the phone simply shuts down.
Darn! I have to return it but I am in Brazil :-(

My dutch Touch Cruise also lost it's phone speaker today. Not a blip comes out of it. When using the handsfree speaker, I can still make my calls. But I'm not that into calling people where everybody can listen into the conversation..
Back to HTC it is....
I'm returning my new Polaris because I get little to no signal reception although I am in an area where signal strength is not an issue
HTC Europe told me to send it to the German service center as a DOA and I will get a replacement. I was told to send it everything (incl. packaging).
The German service center has said they don't do DOA swaps, only repairs. And I should send in only the Polaris (even without battery / battery compartment cover) ...
Now HTC is escalating this and they are supposed to get back with my via email with exact instructions
But, in all fairness, I have to say that HTC Europe (based on the accent I guess they are in England ??) has been very responsive. Not that the problem has been solved yet, but I always find it positive when a company calls back as promised
But of course, even better would be to get a product that works
Cheers,
Andreas
phone speaker has died
After three months, the speaker of my touch cruise stopped working. Handsfree still works. I did send an email to my provider and am curious how to tackle this problem.
Did anybody solve this already?
Gday guys i just got my mobile yesterday, left it on charge for a few hours and woke up and started getting to used it.
Although i have noticed that playing mp3's, ringtones (and well anything using the external speaker. Ie the phone ringing when a incoming call is coming) are VERY VERY soft from the speaker, in audable unless you have the rear of the phone jammed into ur ear...and lets face it who carries there phone like that?
Strapped to there ear??
I think the speaker is faulty...
I purchased this phone from "3" on a plan, so i think i should go back to the store and get a new phone. I do not want this one repaired, as it should fall under the DOA factor i think.
But i would just like confirmation that this phone is indeed faulty.
Thank you.
Just did a Hard Reset, fixed the sound right up....very werid tho.
Oh well just put on Romeos v1.51
this has gotten to be a real serious problem for me - hanging up with my face while on a call. i am surprised this isn't talked about more here. any help would be appreciated! is it possible for the dev's to not only remove the end call button but the mute as well?
so far you are the only one that has ever reported anything like that,ya know it could be a hardware defekt
sent via my bamfed out tbolt
Nope I'm in the same boat as im sure are many others. I have only ever had it actually impact me I think twice on phone calls out of almost a hundred or so that I have had since I purchased the phone. All the others times though it was extremely annoying to keep hearing the click sounds of the screen turning on and off on and off on and off etc.
I keep hoping for a software update that addresses the sensitivity of the sensor, but still no
I also wonder how much the battery is affected by the screen turning on and off repeatedly while in a phone conversation...
I get the same. More on my right ear than my left, but it will often take a digit that I just typed for an automated system and try to dial it, resulting in an alarm tone in my ear during the conversation.
sorry but i have 3 different bolts, the 1st one was rooted stock had that problem but it also went into the brick loop so it got replaced, rooted that one but never had the prob again, this one has the bamf 2 prev 3 on it and no probs that is why i suggested harware cause my first one had major hardware issues
sent via my bamfed out tbolt
i get it too. but i dont call so much. so i dont really care lol
I too had this problem, and did some quick searching on Google. Stumbled upon someone who said to spray it with canned air to clean it out. To my surprise, it worked. There is just enough room between the screen and the body of the phone for dust/crap to get in and it hinders both the light and proximity sensors.
You might be holding the phone in a weird position?
THUNDERBOLT
Damn, you lean something new every day, this thing makes phone calls too!
I've had the issue too recently. But it only started when I returned the last phone to stock. Before that, I had a small issue with it, but it didn't happen often.

I have the screen turn on during calls, but I've never had a face hang up. Honestly I think the screen turns on for me, but can't be interacted with.
Scratch that just did a test. I guess I'm lucky. Then again I don't hold the phone flat to my face. So I guess I would never hit it...
i have had hangups, the mute button pressed, and a 3 way call started. i just tried blowing the screen out with some compressed air as someone suggested. it seems better - will give an update after some testing.
No issues with hang ups for me. Had that problem all the time coming from the X.

I have the same problem and have had it with every Rom I've run and stock. I'm surprised we don't have a way to adjust the proximity sensor yet, that's something I really miss about my Droid X.
After answering a call and putting the tb to my ear, my screen stays on.
Sometimes my ear dials numbers, sometimes the screen stays illuminated but doesn't respond to any touch! I have to toggle the screen on/off with the power button to get the touch response working again.
I have never had an issue. Been on mostly whatever the latest bamf release since rooting.
It happens to me whenever I forget the bluetooth especially after working out or anytime facial area is warmer then normal. I have a screen protector and clean the screen frequently.
I am having the same issue, so I called Verizon yesterday and they are sending me a new phone. I hope it works, because it makes talking on the bolt almost impossible.

this is the first I am hearing of this. No problems for me.
Have the same problem...its really annoying man....will not get a refurbished unit until they fix the reboots
Hello all. I have HTC Surround from AT&T with updated 8107 firmware. I have spoted some strage bug (i don't know how else i could call it) and wanted to ask if thisone is possible and if i do think right. So i have this phone for about half a year and i'm pleased with it, nothing happened to it until now. Last week i was typing an SMS message and suddenly it just froze. I tried to restart it but the phone got stuck in the white HTC screen. My firmware then was 7720. I have done the hard reset and everything seemed to be ok but today the same thing happened with updated version too. I thought a bit and remembered that both times my phone was lying on top or near by wireless microphone receiver which was in working state. So can it be possible that some sord of electromagnetic waves is causing my phone to do this? Or it's just a coincidence?
as i'm a developer i didn't this it's a bug ithink it's accidentaly and you were at that place again like other time
But that's quite too big to be jusn an accident. I had this phone for half a year and nothing. Well i'll try this Friday not to put it on top of the receiver and will post what happened. This thing scared my quite big, i thought that mmc is broken but i have checked the bootloader (i don't know how the screen with 4 colors is called, i think it's bootloader) and it showed my mmc working perfectly. If it was not because of microphones what could then be the problem?
OK tried that this Friday too. Same think - phone near the receiver - phone dies and i must hard reset it to work again. How is this possible? Which part of the phone messes?
Very possible that a strong magnet could do this. Internally the surround uses a microsd (there are guides here for upgrading it but taking the phone apart). I imagine a strong enough field could corrupt a microsd pretty easily. When u say wireless mic do you mean bluetooth?
No no no, i mean microphones which are used on stages, i work as a sound engineer and my phone always is close to receivers, close to controlers and other stuf i use. So to avoid further coruptions i should put my phone further from all equipment right?
OK after this other few tries i have found out that it does indeed mess my phone, i have tried holding it near wireless microphone receiver and my phone have frozen and when i placed my phone further from receiver nothing happened. So look out for that

Is frozen screen? Still completely can't use? I feel a little bit like WM6 era's problems. After a certain amount to you. May is hardware have dark disease.
Hey!
My English are not the best but after allot of searching and testing I really need help and turning me to you!
I have a problem with audio stuttering when using any kind of speakers/headset (SBH50 and a Sony wirelesses speaker) with bluetooth. It works great if I have the mobile on the table right beside me, but if I then lets say puts the mobile in my pocket the stuttering appears instantly. If I then put my hand over my pocket the audio stops and if I then remove my hand the audio comes back stuttering.
I have tried turning off the Wifi, 3G, updating the mobile and the headset, restore both the headset and mobile.
I have the latest update, android 4.4.4 but I got my mobile back yesterday after sending it in on warranty and they changed the motherboard of the mobile to a new one. Before I turned it in the audio was clear and working but it wasn't updated to the latest update from Sony, i am not sure if that could cause this problem?
If you have any information on this that could help me I would be very happy!
This has always happened to me. I can set my phone aside and bluetooth will be perfectly clear, but as soon as it goes in my pocket and I start moving, it will stutter a lot. I always thought it was just how Bluetooth worked, something about static electricity or the warmth of your leg. It seems normal to me, but mine could be malfunctioning as well, who knows?

That is the exact problem I am having! The warmth or static electricity should not affect this, you should definitely have it check out! I am going back to the retailer today and turning it in for the fourth time... But the last repair was there last try so I am getting a new phone and I am sorry to say that my confidence with Sony Z3 is gone with the wind and I will take a Samsung S5 this time instead..
Honestly it doesn't matter to me, I've found many ways around it. I either deal with the slight stuttering having it in my pocket, or put it in my jacket front pocket (which solves the issue), or just set it down somewhere. I love the phone too much to have it traded in for anything that small.
Got the same thing, has anyone tried buying some phone pouch? did it work?
