I'm headed out of the country and have purchased a limited amount of data for the trip, but cannot find a way to turn off push email using Microsoft Exchange. Help!!
TIA!
Go to Settings > Communication > Microsoft Direct Push > OFF.
or go to
Activsync > Meny > Sync Options > Change to Manually

Many thanks. Got it through Activsync. I'd updated my comm manager to a version that includes Mobile Wifi Router and hadn't realized that I lost the Microsoft Direct Push option in the bargain. :-(

Hi,
Just hard-resetted my touch pro, and now i cant make e-mail work.
All email account settings have same as before, so its pretty much hopeless.
Internet browser works fine.
Its on t-mobile, and every time i try to connect to new e-mail account, i got error message: "cant connect with current settings".
What am i missing?
Any help?

OK - found my reply in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2633874
To save u the hassle I'll paste agian it here:
I've been pulling my hair out over this for a few hours and FINALLY solved it. For me the issue seem that when T-Mobile downloads all its settings to the phone the Internet service is called "T-Mobile Internet" where the email settings are trying to use "Internet" (which then no longer exists).
So in short - this is how I fixed it...
At you mail inbox: Menu > Tools > Options > Click ur email account > Edit Account Setup > press Next until you get to the Outgoing (SMTP) Mail server settings page > Click the Advanced Server Settings link at the bottom > change Network connection to your internet provider instead of the default "Internet" (e.g. mine's "T-Mobile Internet") > carry on through the pages until finished. It should now connect without the Error Synchronising message.

Everything works now.
Thanks a lot.
Good to hear - no probs!
(btw - u might want to add [SOLVED] to the start of the title of this thread - helps others no it's been fixed.)

Hi All,
Sorry if the answer is somewhere I have tried my best for searching through forums but couldn't find any solution.
I have bought an HTC HD2 was on O2 but got it unlocked.
I'm using it with Orange. The internet and everything seems to work perfectly fine but I can't get emails through internet. Everytime I get the same message i.e. Error Synchronizing" cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.
It's the same message either I try to access my yahoo email, googlemail or hotmail.
I have tried changing internet settings, email settings but no success.
Funnily enough I get email with no problems once my HTC HD2 is connected through WiFi.
I'll be very thankful to you if anyone could help my sorting out my frustration.
Thnx
Was having same problem - Try this-
Hi,
I think I was having the same problem today (HTC HD2 on T-Mobile). I had Outlook synchronization working fine to my work email, however when I tried to setup an IMAP connection to my ISP email (PlusNet) I was getting the error you mention.
After some experminentation/research I found the answer (for me):

Nice one Lloydy I was having exactly the same problem. My phone now works perfectly. I definately appreciated your post.
thanks!!
perfect man
Back to the HD2 for a minute... I have exactly this problem, and the Telstra ROM in my HD2 does not give me quite the same menu options as described above. For example there is no "advanced" option in the mail outgoing server setup page. Where else can I find it??
TIA

same here, can we have more detailed instructions on the htc hd2, there isnt and advanced option even with stock rom. Please make this clearer
I was having the same problem, only switching it to T Mobile Data instead of T Mobile Internet (which is what it was set on) worked...maybe it's just the switch and forcing the connection to recalibrate itself is what works...
Love this forum.
Thanks guys, worked great, yey!
Just figured it out and it works now - woohoo!!
To get to the "advanced" setting in the email config.
Click Start
Click email (in the programs menu page)
Highlight your email account (eg gmail)
click menu
select options
click gmail
click 'edit account setup'
click next/next/next.. until the smtp setup page
click 'advanced server settings'
select the proper network connection (eg Telstra internet)
Then done next/next/finish
And voila you can synchronise
Thanks Lloydy - I have also been pulling my hair out. Just one question though. Will emails be sent/received by wi-fi if wi-fi if is connected rather than using up data allowances of 3g/gprs. I tried going into the setting and turning off the data connection and then send/reeive email but the phone has a habit of turning the data connection back on on its own.
Another big thanks from me. Sorted my sync problem at last.
I'm on Q-Tel Hala (pre-paid) out in Qatar.
I've bookmarked this page for future reference.
Cheers, John

No Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced for Vega-N?
I'm running Vega-N beta 5 and can't located the Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > Wi-Fi settings > Menu > Advanced menu. I need to enable Proxy for my work lan.
I tried something called TransparentProxy but it fails with some error about redirect.sh failed (FIX ME! implement..... something about iptables, insmod or perhaps a kernel upgrade).
Is there any way to get Proxy working?
I don't know if this helps, but you can create a shortcut using Anycut that lets you launch the proxy settings dialog (under 'Activity' > 'Proxy settings'). It lets you specify a hostname and port. I haven't had a reason to use it so I don't know if that is the dialog that you are looking for in the settings menu.
I finally used AnyCut and got a short cut. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to do anything. I don't think our Kernel supports Proxy yet.
Samsung Galaxy Apollo I5800D rooted and unlocked.
now on Rogers in Canada
Phones works fine, texting works fine, WIFI works fine...
have no internet and can't send/receive SMS
If I goto:
Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names,
it's blank with no option to "ADD APN"
Do I need a code to enter APN info? eg: *#12345#* ???
1.Go to Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names
2.Press menu button (left button)

I tried to extract an apk from my previous phone to install the program above, that didn´t work. It´s part of a smart suite and I managed to get messenger working at pushing notifications and calls always, I did that by preventing it from using wifi, it was on cellular data at all times.
Anyone know of a similar program, easy to use and just prohibits certain apps from using wifi?
How about Settings > Wi-Fi & Internet > Data usage > Wi-Fi > choosing an app there > Wi-Fi disabled?
