Network manager, possible? - OnePlus 7 Pro Questions & Answers

I tried to extract an apk from my previous phone to install the program above, that didn´t work. It´s part of a smart suite and I managed to get messenger working at pushing notifications and calls always, I did that by preventing it from using wifi, it was on cellular data at all times.
Anyone know of a similar program, easy to use and just prohibits certain apps from using wifi?

How about Settings > Wi-Fi & Internet > Data usage > Wi-Fi > choosing an app there > Wi-Fi disabled?

Windows Live not working over mobile connection?

Gents,
Is anyone experiencing problems with Windows Live on their Touch Pro?
I can't seem to sign into MSN or sync hotmail while on a mobile connection. Wi-Fi works fine...
Any ideas?
check your contract with your provider.
Many networks block MSN because they would rather you pay for SMS messages.

Go to your network settings and uncheck the 'this connection need a proxy' setting. Sorry, don't have my phone in front of me so can't be more specific!
Working ok on Vodafone. When I've had this problem in the past on previous devices, it has been due to messed up connection settings - usually if I've restored from an old backup.
Try running the connection wizard again, and as nuttyphilt says, go to:
Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Select Networks > Edit > Proxy Settings, and make sure that "This network uses a proxy server...." is unticked.

Legends. That was it. Weird, I never had an issue on my Kaiser, I guess teh auto-config has changed slightly.
Thanks for your help guys it's much appreciated.
EDIT:
This also fixes the YouTube application.
Having the same problem
I've unchecked teh proxy settings option but I still cant connect to the internet (or sync hotmail) - I'm on vodafone by the way
I have Tmobile and I cant for thelife of me connect to the internet, get mail updates or weather updates, unchecked the proxy but nothing, I have a data plan as well.
Hi,
Which T-Mobile do you have? T-Mobile Germany has blocked some ports for some of their products. There is a cheap data flatrate with limited speed and port 80 only (no POP,IMAP,NTP...) and a expensive Flatrate without this limitation.
Do you have the right conection settings?
Check if your APN is internet.t-mobile
User: t-mobile
PW: t-d1
Check if this connection is your default connection for Internet.

Out of interest, do you use messenger on the vodafone network, and if so, have you ever been charged outside of the data plan? The T&C's state that these kind of applications will be charged at £2 per meg. Just wondered if voda actually take any action?

Wifi connected but still uses Edge

when i am at home i would like to use my wifi connection but it appears that it still tries to use edge. how do i configure my connections so that it uses wifi if connected?
thanks
Hey,
have you properly set up ur wifi connection on ur device including any password protection and security (WEP/WPA etc).
Also and this might seem daft, but is ur wifi connection on router properly working or have you set up any access restrictions on router?
its not a question on whether the wifi connection actually works but edge overriding it.
but... yes i did all of the necessary steps to add my device (wep password, mac address added etc...)
if i turn the phone off the wifi works just fine.
thanks for the reply.
Hy,
you have to set the networks (Internet and Private Network) to "My Work Network".
Does this not work you have to make a rom update.
Greatz
mccoffein
You will find it at Settings -> Connections -> Connections -> Avanced -> Select Networks
that just makes everything not work
Which rom version do you have? Which device do you have? Which Provider Label do you have?
its all in my sig
I find that if I want to switch from cellular data to WiFi, I have to hit the Data button in the Comm Manager, then hit the WiFi button. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to switch. If I just turn on WiFi, it connects, but never know which one is going to be used.
Go to:
Touch "Start > Settings > Connections > Connections > Advanced > Network Selection.
Set both settings to "Office Network"
If this does not work then install a small file called "No data" or "Modaco No data"

no data works by removing a registry key for your connection settings..... so it will also disable your picture messaging and/or email if you use it. (just a heads up)

Background Data vs. Always-On Mobile Data

I could never get a clear-cut answer from the differences of both of these. I could also never get the advantages/ disadvantages of having them on or off.
The closest thing I could find was this:

Okay, I did some testing and thought others may find the results useful. I should clarify that none of this applies if you have notifications disabled in any of the individual application settings or have misconfigured something else. I have "Auto-sync" enabled (Settings > Accounts & sync > Auto-sync). All testing was done with Wifi off and the phone set to idle/sleep.
Note: The settings discussed above can be found here:
- Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks > Enable always-on mobile data
- Settings > Accounts & sync > Background data
- Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Network
Test 1: Always-on mobile data ON / Background data ON
- Push Gmail works properly
- Push Exchange mail works properly
Test 2: Always-on mobile data OFF/ Background data ON
- Push Gmail works properly
- Push Exchange mail works properly
Test 3: Always-on mobile data ON / Background data OFF
- Push Gmail does not work
- Push Exchange mail works properly
Test 4: Always-on mobile data OFF / Background data OFF
- Push Gmail does not work
- Push Exchange mail works properly
Test 5: Always-on mobile data OFF / Background data OFF / Mobile network off
- Push Gmail does not work
- Push Exchange does not work
Additional comments:
- Regardless of the above settings, incoming phone calls and SMS messages were received properly.
- I have my phone set to have Google Voice handle all voicemail, and this too worked properly regardless of the above settings.
- Disabling Always-on mobile data in itself seems to make a big difference in battery life. I have this off and Background data on. So far, everything I use seems to work properly with these settings, and battery life is plenty for me to get through a day with frequent use.

Ever since I've owned an Android device, I've always kept both of them check marked. But, out of curiosity, I unchecked "Always-on mobile data" on my S4G right now to see what kind of extra battery life I will get.
The only things I constantly want synced are my Exchange account, Gmail, and weather, so I'm hoping unchecking "Always-On Mobile Data" won't screw that up.
I just wanted to see what your opinion/ knowledge says on this whole Background Data vs. Always-On Mobile Data discussion.
Background data has to be ON to receive push gmails, whatsapps, etc internet background services...
Mobile Data always-on may not be checked...

Is there any benefit to having mobile data always on?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I'll just add that if you turn off "Background Data" Market will not work.

How to off the Data only in Huawei watch 2 sports

Hello,
I have Huawei watch 2 sports with LTE.
I am only using it for phone calls and to attend calls forwarded from my phone. Not using for data. I could not find a way to off the data connection keeping the sim connection intact in the watch which we can do in android phone. I want to off the data connection as it is draining the battery about 12% per hour.
So if anybody knows how to off the data connection only in Huawei watch, kindly help me.
Also if there is any reliable method to root the watch , kindly help me
Thanking You
drsaidalavi
Took me a while to find this as well!
Apps > Settings > Connectivity > Mobile > Mobile ON
Apps > Battery > Smart Power Saving > ENABLE
Custom > Mobile Data OFF
This leaves all the normal call/receive functions but does not allow mobile data to activate.
Enjoy!
