he,
i have wm 6.5 (the one with the x on the bottom) but all it does is minimize.
erik
Check ure settings (Iknow in my HD and the taskmanager i can press settings in it..). Where, depends on what device you have. There you can make the X button close apps instead of minimize them. Oh, and next time do a search
WM6.5 is still in its beta stage, even if you enable the "X" button from the tash manager - it will just minimize the program.
old programs still use the upper right portion of the screen for the "X" instead of the lower X button... even the SMS/MMS... try pressing the upper right corner with your stylus to close the app or install WKTask so you can easily close the app from the taskbar.
hopefully this would be sorted out in the final build.

6.5 is, and has been finalized for a while. The builds you are talking about are WM 6.5.1 (WM 6.7).

pls dont flame me if this was posted before. i just find another cool way (maybe not) on how to quickly do end task and kill application instantlly on wm 6.5...actually this is not so new but a rediscovered trick! hope that others will find this tip helpfull.
im using atom life, and im eager to look for a way on how to maximize its limited memory and im an avid user of quickmenu... first of all, its free! although its not visually appealing to the new 6.5 interface...it is very usefull.
with the releases of the latest 6.5 rom, i just thought that quickmenu "x button"-to close and kill running application is useless in new 6.5 roms because the x button is now located at the lower screen... but its not! it is still there and still functional but invisible!!
You can use its setting to kill running programs by pressing the upper right corner of the screen where the old X button is located. although X is not there....program will be closed instantly from running!!
you can also set it up to put an old style start menu ( W/ or w/out icon) or To launch other QuickMenu's useful tools like hibernate (free mem), end task, Turnoff screen, reboot in the upper-left corner of the screen where the old start icon was or place it anywhere on the top with an icon.
here is the link in QuickMenu discussion
sorry, cant explain too much. but ive attached some screenshots:
hey2..may i know where did u get ur WM6.5.1?
check this thread for latest atom life ROM releases cooked by bajok.
thx (too short liao)
Shame it´s not working on Energy´s Photon wm6.5.1 on my Touch pro 2
I really miss that
Hi all.
How can I achieve this? I want my Topaz with WM 6.5 have the same behavior with start as it was with 6.1.
only way i know of doing that is by installing quick menu. http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-quickmenu-v2-7.html
Well the start menu was redesigned.
Manila has it's own special start menu that is opened by tapping in the top left corner (where the Start button was). It is very similar to QuickMenu.
The good thing about the stock start menu is it is highly customizable. If you search the threads you can find start menus that contain 2 rows... and even 1 row (list) similar to Quick Menu... but without any third party apps.
I wouldn't be too quick to avoid the WM6.5 start menu because it is something you'll have to eventually get used to. I would recommend you get familiar with it and start looking up some of the tweaks to get it to where you want.
I am not finding this manilla start menu. Just the regular windows mobile start menu.
I am using htc sense. When i click the left i get the regular start menu.

If you are using Sense 2.1 (stock WM6.5) then you can use this:

I recently got a HD2 with WM 6.5. A few existing programs from MW 6.0/6.1-era work with taskicons in the lower right corner. This is useful and required for the operation of these programs.
Now on the HD2 with Sense, these taskicons do not show anymore and therefore these programs become largely unusable, some can be opened thru the taskmanager, but some do not even appear there, even though they run fine in the background.
How can I keep Sense and have access to the Taskicons all at the same time?
Thanks for your input.

I assume from your picture that the icons are the standard today screen plugins. Your best bet is to just add those programs to the quicklauch shortcut buttons that you can access from the Home Tab, then you can access them by just clicking on the linked button. If you need more than the 9 standard buttons then there are mods for 16, 20 or 25 shortcut buttons which should be more than you need.
There's also some toggle apps that will allow you to switch between Sense and Today from on of your softkeys. There's a few about - just have a search
In WM 6.5 we (or at least I) do not have the taskmanager icon in the upper right corner, this means when I close a program by clicking X it just minimizes instead of actually closing it.
What is the registry key to get this right?
PUSH! Where in the registry is that?
Hi. I'm using Vico's 6.5.5 Rom but I really miss the taskbar options that Wisbar advance used to give me (like showing what apps were running). I've tried the Beta 5 version of WB but it doesn't work with WM 6.5.5.
Does anyone know of a similar taskbar replacement that will work with this ROM, or a way to disable that annoying drop down finger menu in WM 6.5.5 that pops down every time you click the taskbar?
Phil.
I use quickmenu for that. A menu that displays your running programs and gives a option to close them individual or all at once.

You can place the Q button in the middle of the screen.
Woks very well on this 6.5.5 rom.
Oh, and disable the battery icon or you will be having two of them.
Do you want a program that shows running programs in the top bar? (the one were the clock is)?

Yeah, and also a way to modilfy the top bar and its po-out/drop-down curtain finger friendly thing (which I'd rather do without to be honest)

I'm giving this a try at the moment, thanks to your suggestion. It does give me some of the funtionality I'm looking for but it's not as nice as WA IMO.
