invisible X button!! - General Topics

pls dont flame me if this was posted before. i just find another cool way (maybe not) on how to quickly do end task and kill application instantlly on wm 6.5...actually this is not so new but a rediscovered trick! hope that others will find this tip helpfull.
im using atom life, and im eager to look for a way on how to maximize its limited memory and im an avid user of quickmenu... first of all, its free! although its not visually appealing to the new 6.5 interface...it is very usefull.
with the releases of the latest 6.5 rom, i just thought that quickmenu "x button"-to close and kill running application is useless in new 6.5 roms because the x button is now located at the lower screen... but its not! it is still there and still functional but invisible!!
You can use its setting to kill running programs by pressing the upper right corner of the screen where the old X button is located. although X is not there....program will be closed instantly from running!!
you can also set it up to put an old style start menu ( W/ or w/out icon) or To launch other QuickMenu's useful tools like hibernate (free mem), end task, Turnoff screen, reboot in the upper-left corner of the screen where the old start icon was or place it anywhere on the top with an icon.
here is the link in QuickMenu discussion
sorry, cant explain too much. but ive attached some screenshots:

hey2..may i know where did u get ur WM6.5.1?

thx (too short liao)

Multi-Tasking Question:

I'm probably missing a really obvious setting and someone can straighten me out pretty quickly, but here's the issue. I just installed ROMeOS Rom and I can't figure out how to turn back on the Multi-tasking icon that usually appears in the upper right hand corner of the home screen. Is this an option in the Registry? I looked for it in Advanced Configuration Utility but couldn't find anything that appeared to relate to this.
Even better would be a way for this icon to *always* appear in that corner. (Since you can kill apps through the multi-tasking drop down, you really don't need a dedicated "x" for any given program).
Anyway, help on either of these would be great.
You are referring to the HTC Task manager which is not included in romeos roms. Either download the cab which you can find in Monx's/romeos 3rd post or even better, install wktask which is freeware and much better IMVHO.

Good process manager + other questions for WM 6.5

Hi all,
Today I've upgrade my Asus P552 from WM6.1 to WM6.5.
first, my process manager ( Magic Button 2.1) is not compatible with WM 6.5
wich one do you suggest? I don't need a lot of features, but he must be always present in the title bar to simply quit an application, and he must be light.
Then, a rss reader call newstation is include in WM 6.5; it works with rss feeds, but it freeze when I try to add an atom feed, is there anything I can do to fix it?
Thanks.
ps: excuse my bad english, I'm not a native speaker.
I'm using Magic Button 2.1 on my Fuze with a 6.5 rom (23016). It works fine. You need to set the start menu and cprog to 'stay alive' and 'not show when active,' but otherwise, it works fine for me. Well, occasionally it will kill the start menu, particularly if I hit the x button when in the Settings panel. I haven't figured out how to re-start the menu without resettings, but I can use voice command to start anything if needed.
Are you sure it won't work on your phone? I really like it. If not, I'd recommend DotFred's Task Manager. If so, I'd still recommend using DF's TM-it's a great app.
Hi, thanks for reply.
In fact, it work, but as you can see, I've got display issues when I use it (look at the title bar and the button):
do you encounter the same problem? I'll try the others programs you suggest.
Yeah, the button obscures the battery meter and a little bit of the start menu 'S' shows. My advice? Don't look @ the battery meter. It's too good of an app to junk because of the overlay.

i DONT have htc's task manager..??!!

There is not the well known htc task manager..! ( at least in my shipped rom!)
This is very annoying..Plus, there is not the option to close the apps by just taping the x/ok button !!
The other bad thing is when the screen is dark the dots of the screen are visible..
Is there any way to get the task manager in hd2 via cab or something???
(i also didnt have owner info, got it back via reg..)
Have a look at this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580860
I got my HD2 today and while I also miss the task manager J can't for the life of me under any lighting conditions see any grid on my screen, it is perfect! Do those with grids have pre-production models?

[Q] moving items in WM6.5 start menu ?

Hi, on Wm6.5 roms for the touch HD you can press and hold on the start menu items an move them arround but in the HD2 you can only send them to top. Thats is a really ugly to reorder lots of icons.
I think there must be a key in the registry to set this behaviour but cant find it.
Someone knows it?
PD: Someone sugested a program called "JWMD Icon Changer V1.9 beta" to change the order of the start menu items, but i want the easy press and hold way
I will have both HD and HD2 for a few days only so I can compare registry values on both but dont know where exactly to look at.
It's not quite as simple as a single registry key. Whatever build you were running was either a 6.5.x build (start button on the bottom bar) or had some 6.5.x portions built in. That feature only started appearing in the 2303x builds, and is probably a pretty low level change. Meanwhile, the HD2 does not run one of those special builds of 6.5, so I'd say that until cooked ROMs come to the HD2, there's not much you can do besides use that program.
Damn! you're right. my HD got a 23xxx build from Dutty and the HD2 got an extremely old build
Well let's wait for cooked rom then
Thanks

[Q] Animated transitions in windows mobile/sense 2.5?

Hi everibody, so sorry to post a question where it's not allowed but the Q&A section for windows mobile doesn't exist anymore, so I didn't know where to post it.
I am an HD2 owner and for me it's simply perfect with windows mobile, the only thing is that in WM 6.5 and in sense 2.5 there are no smooth and fluid transitions. Don't know if I explained well what I mean. For example in Iphone, android or in any other new OS when I swipe left or right on the screen, the elements move gradually out of the screen and the new one enter gently. In Manila 2.5 no, there is a gap unless you use the manila . Is there a way to make this happen? The same thing when I press the start menu or when I turn the phone in landscape mode, or when I unlock it. I think that the lack of animated transitions make the OS look much older than it is.
Please, I'm asking a last effort to make this system awersome...
as you are using manila 2.5 the nearest to your request is Co0kie Home Tab 2.0. Then you can get in your home tab 7 screens to slide left & right, and 4 levels to slide up & down, and even put some widgets on it.
Other option is MaxSense, but never tried myself. I think you would need to flash a rom with Maxsense as is not provided as .cab
If you wish to try Co0kie 2.0 and need further help post question in the CHT thread.
Thank you for the reply =)
yeah, I'm actually using the HD2O rom with CHT and I noticed that there is the possibility to use widget in the home screen, but I was thinking of something more integrated in the system...for example I found WinStart (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935808): this is an app that replaces start menu and adds the kind of animations for windows I was looking for. Unfortunately I found this program a little too buggy (some icons disappear and many icon names are changed) and very slow I hope it could be possible to continue in this direction, because I think that the idea is good, but in my opinion it isn't developed properly (those animations could be integrated in a cooked rom probably) and have a similar program for Manila too. It would be simply wonderful.
Of course those are only my suggestions, but I know that nobody would develop any further for windows mobile something like this because this OS is considered dead, but I still love it more than any newer one.
I'm using an energy ROM with CHT & find it very fluid for all functions really & far more flexible than iphone & a lot better looking than Android & many functions less clicks to access.
For the hardware spec of the phone & slow official development WM was & actually still is very very good, if you look at layout of Android & compare it to WM6.5.3 you will see a lot of copying by cheeky Google ...
I need viber software for hd2 plz help me
I need viber software for hd2 plz
Windows Mobile does have animated transitions, but they're generally disabled, as they're slow and ugly.
You can still get them back using the registry (I can find that for you), but you'll probably regret it.
BTW, as my much esteemed colleagues said already, HTC Sense and Co0kie's Home tabs extension prvide pretty nice animations and sliding screens already.
