Help Pls!!! - myTouch 3G, Magic Android Development

I have a USA MT3G and i want to root my phone so that i can tether with the original Tmobile rom. Is it possible to root the phone with the Tmo ROM?
I keep reading all these posts on how to root the phone but it seems so damn complicated . I am very tech savvy but i just cant seem to understand how to do this. Maybe it's because i cant find the right guide or files to root the phone. There are so many versions of SPL's I am afraid i will brick it.
Can someone point me in the right direction please....

Did you read the sticky's?

Sorry, but my 6 yr old could do this.
look for 1-click root.

Wrong forum, and didn't try searching.

Cellcom 2.1 update for the Hero...
Thanks
Here are a bunch of other small carrier updates for the hero as well

Are you asking if someone can take the update, add root and upload it or root it as it is running on the phone? Either way it's super easy.
If you already have root on your phone and you want a flashable version with root built in, go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
and follow the instructions to install the kitchen, extract the rom, root, and anything else you wanna add and build and flash it.
If you are looking at rooting it on the phone, go here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581869
and follow the instructions.
Either way you should have used that handy "Search This Forum" button in the main threads page.

OK thanks for that.. I'm pretty savvy to the search feature. Been around the block a few times brotha.
I'm pretty sure since you have the answers you would know that I've tried that rooting method with won't work with the Cellcom Hero, the rooting method there you get the wrong bootloader error, the BL on the 1.6 hero is newer than the one you use in that rooting guide... I was unsuccessful in doing it.
And no, this phone/rom/carrier doesn't have root yet.
If it was something sooo easy I certainly would just do it.
What version of hboot does this phone ship with?
Have you tried that guide they linked to lately? That guide has been updated with a new method that should work on phones that shipped with 2.1
oh.. my bad dude. Didn't mean to be so hasty on my comments. We have had a few people posting pointless threads lately here.. This is rather odd though. Give us all the info on what's running on the phone and we can check out what we can do to resolve it.

Forgive me for being a newbie

I got a LG p500. This is my 1st android phone and I found that "rooting" is the way to go. I googled and I cant really find a good list benefits that rooting can give me. Over the risk involved, that's a lot.
Now let me ask this first, as a casual user, what other benefits can rooting give me? I heard that I need to root before I can install apps to SD but I got an app that can do that. So what else?
What scares me is that I found a lot of posts that says that they got their LG p500 bricked. But reading this forums, I found that there mis now a one click root but I dont see the name of my phone in the compatibility list. Can anyone help me?
I'm not asking for you too spoon feed me, I'm just asking for a right amount of guidance. Thanks in advance!!
Nothing wrong with being a newb... gotta start somewhere, right?
Honestly, if you can do all that you need/want right now without rooting then don't root. Really rooting it is if you want to get into mod'ing, hacking and deep tech-ness from your device. There are some apps out there that require root in order to run, but as you said, you're a casual user.
If you do want to get into mod/hack/tech-guru-ness/etc. more and can wait til there is a safer one-click solution for your device, wait. Don't want to brick and [possibly] void the warranty right?
Best of luck and welcome to the fold, my friend.

Actually, I just wanna do most of the stuff my phone will allow me, I dont like to be just 'scratching the surface' I wanna go deep and understand android.
with that said, I have used the z4 root, the 1 click root i got from this forums. it worked well. I have also spent a good few hours fixing my adb and i think i got it to work.
Now the problem is the 3 button boot. everytime i do it, my whole phone gets wiped, i figured i'm doing something wrong but what? how can i fix this? thanks in advance!

[Q] how to not brick my GS3 after rooting

hi
i had my first droid phone ever (Galaxy s3 I9300) which is awesome phone(so i am newbie) ,and i only wants to root it to get rid of these stupid ads ,so i read about the rooting process and its very easy.
my question is after rooting, what exactly should i avoid to make sure not to "brick" it ?
thanks guys
Best way to avoid bricking your phone is to spend a fair amount of time searching forums and reading threads about rooting your phone. Do some legwork, there's probably plenty of info available. Good luck.
That's the best thing to do, read and read some more before you do anything.
Seeing as you're a noob at this you might not get what the whole rooting thing is about and why you should do it; so take a look at this thread which should help you figure out what this whole rooting thing is about and how to do it.
And seeing as you have an S3, your phone should be actually quite easy to root. Here's your device forum. Once you've read that above link i posted, have a look around here and read. Read about how to root and how to flash a custom rom, google anything you're unsure about. Then take a look in your device forum for a custom ROM you want to flash to your phone, and flash it.

[Q] Root Help

Hey, I've been trying to root my HTC Inspire 4G for a little bit now.. I found it in a drawer and thought "Why not?". I've read around and I know everything for this phone isn't really around anymore, like the Ace Hack kit. I downloaded the AAHK and did what the guide on XDA told me to do. I unlocked bootloader, downgraded, I have a gold card, but the hack kit won't work. I'm guessing it's because the servers are no longer active for it... But, being how it is now, I'm wondering if there's any possible way to root my Inspire. Thanks!
same problem
If you find a solution please email me letting me know how you were able to root it. I'm trying to learn how to root, unlock and fix any electronic. I have had no luck and its extremely irritating lol. I would appreciate the help
