Hey,
I just got the HTC Touch Pro 2, and am wondering how you remove the software/bloatware they put on the device. It doesn't seem listed under the removable software app...
There are things like Opera and other software I have no use for... Can it be removed?
Thanks for the help.

no you cant remove it..
You might not be able to remove it, but there are ways to remove items from the rom before loading it to your phone. I'm not sure about specifics, but I know XDA-devs has gotten there.
You can easily remove the shortcuts so that they don't clutter your space.

sooo, because i'm a cheap basta*d i'm going to buy a dvd player with gps for my car on ebay and i've noticed a lot of them, or even all of them?, run on windows ce. So here's my question, will any cab run on windows ce? i mean, winmo 5, 6, 6.1 and everything before that ran on windows ce right? so how easy would it be?
Picture this, a 8-16gb sd card, jam it into the card reader and start up S2P (slide to play) for one bad ass cover flowin' music center! obviously other thing would be useful to, and since these bad boys are only like $300 buckaroos it isn't a bad idea, especially for us gadget pr0n guys right?
what about flashing a rom from a SD card (only heard rumors/speculation about that, probably not possible)? or just loading up manila 2d/3d via throttle launcher and getting the think looking pimp? no phone antenna, no problem, just sync it through the bluetooth and make calls (new app required i'm guessing, or at least adapt/beautify some existing cab/exe). get internet sharing to work on it somehow and you're seriously looking at a pretty cool carputer. well, with all i'd want to use one for anyways. Who wants to do more than what a good rom on one of our phones can do while in a car anyways?
I'm not sure if it will run out of the box like that, with nothing more than some cabs on and sd card, or if you have to do something else (file explorer and whatnot), but i figured xda would be the best place to start for the right answers. I've never gone wrong before with you guys, so speak up! let's see what we come up with!
or at least give me a link to a better place if you know of one and i'll get off my soapbox...
anyways, i've got access to a few vogues, a wing/herald, and a touch pro to do testing with, along with the dvd player/win CE unit--in about a week or two that is--so i'm more than happy to put it on the table.
Man i hope you guys are reading this and as pumped as i am.
anyways, pm me with anything, or i'll just keep looking to see if anyone else posts here

does anyone know if this would even work?
This could work.
First of all, you need to look up how to disable OEM's shell (factory "software" of the player) and enable Windows CE interface.
Next you either install Handheld PC apps, or install libraries which allow you to run applications from PocketPC.
Myself I tried it with a cheap GPS. Yeah, WinCE + apps are a major step up from maps only, but it is not anywhere close to even a non-phone PPC. Because of, for example, lack of WiFi. The big advantage is, that I can install any WinCE compatible map instead of outdated OEM maps.
Hope I am right, and this helps
Where did you find information about your GPS? I just got one, model# TID-7626GPS that I'm going to try to mod, but i can't find information about how to get the WinCE.
if you could pass on any links to places i could look it would help a ton. For how do disable the factory OEM and those libraries?
First you need to find out real manufacturer of your device. I googled model name you said but there's nothing
Or, connect that device via ActiveSync (yes, the same) and see if there's a file \Windows\autorun.inf
If it exists, backup it. Then change it so it will load \Windows\explorer.exe
That should unlock WinCE UI.
However, the file may not exist. In this case you have to look for instructions over the web.
I got my new HD2 and was delighted, but then tried to get the software that I have been using previously to work on it.
As I travel around and look in second hand book and record shops, I am never totally sure from memory whether i have a particular book or cd. Publishers keep changing the covers and synopses.
On my Psion, it had as standard a lovely card database / rolodex type of program. It was easy to input, easy to search.
When I moved to the hx4700 on windows 2003SE I lost that. Eventually I found Data On The Run which is fully access compatible. So I've converted all of my lists to access, and was happy enough. It wasn't great as it tries to get too much on, and portrait only.
Now on the HD2, the software does not like fingers, only styluses. Scrolling is virtually impossible, as it won't drag to scroll. The pop out scroll bar helper does not show. The developer is one guy and hasn't time to continue developing.
I've looked at stuff like Bookbag plus and someone mentioned "My Collection" but I cannot find it anywhere on the net. There are serious commercial pieces of software that are in effect full database programs, but that is a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.
I know this may only help in the short term, and doesn't solve the software issue.
Have you changed the original theme on the device? If so the Pop out function on the theme is lost in order to return it without going back to the original theme you could try this. please remember to backup
Hope this helps in the short term.
Try this
Try ListPro.. it's a great application..

THanks. I had seen Collectorz which has templates for this, but had not found listpro. It looks a fairly steep learning curve, and I need to import my existing lists. However, its great advantage is that it is only one program that covers a multitude of lists, so i won;t be paying out twice or three times for basically the same thing.
I've installed and imported my book list, so can now try and get it synchronised. I had to install the cab file separately. I can set up the synchronisation in the Windows MObile Device Centre, but that has to be done through "files" and unless i have missed something that only lets me synchronise to the machine, not the storage card. That is no damn good.
Good morning to you all.
Im sorry if this has been mentioned before, but im hoping that some one can help and point me in the right direction.
Does any one have or know of a programme for the HD2 that will get rid of Programme Names in the remove applications settings.
I have a couple of names that refuse to remove no matter what i do, Ive tried installing and then reunistalling the programme, but the programme names still stay there.
I have manual deleted the programmes but they are still listed in the remove applications.
If any one can help i will be greatful.
Thanks in advance.
You need to try something like Pocket Mechanic or SK Tools.... I don't know of a freeware version. I use SK Tools cleans out the bad un-installs.
Yeah I finally got my activesync to work and now I want to put stuff on it, but I'm a noob so I don't know how. I bought it from eBay unlocked since I use t-mobile. And came pre-rommed or whatever you call it with White GTX. I don't like it so much but I do like Cookie's Home Tab look. So How do I even do it, cause I don't want to hard reset, cause I'm afraid to lose it's unlock capability. Also I was wondering where do I get apps and games? I was thinking of using http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ for it, but I still don't know even how to put it on. Please respond! Thanks.
Moved as not software release.
Place the .cab on phone and launch with file explorer.
CHT has instructions regards killing Sense 2.5 before hand.
Ok, my 32gb storage card arrived. So do I have to extract a file if its in Winrar .cab?
Hi folks
Ive had a look around and cant find anything that matches this question.
One of teh iphone/itunes features that I did actually like, as opposed to the many things I didnt like about that bloatware, was the ability to rearrange the various screens directly from itunes.
Is it possible to do something similar from Windows to Android?
Im using GoLauncher on cyanogenmod 7 with a Galaxy S2. Ideally some form of GUI app on my PC would be brilliant, but if I have to edit some files manually, that wouldnt be too much of a hardship.
I know its not exactly hard to edit directly on the screen, but everytime I switch to a new ROM, I have to start again. Being able to save layouts or swap between a couple would be ideal.
Thanks in advance.
