Ok, so the data on the phone works... but if I try to tether it and share the internet to my laptop, I get a code 67 saying my username and/or password is incorrect... the thing is that the data works all the time except when tethering...
any idea on how to fix this?
thanks.
Apparently I can fix this error in EPST... however I cant get my MSL through any of the suggested methods... anyone know how to get the MSL from the touch pro2? its an MEID, but using a converted pESN doesn't work with GetSPC...
I am suddenly having the same issues also. I had this working just by installing the ICS and WModem Fix.CAB but then I did a hard reset and reinstalled the ICS and WModem Fix.CAB and now it doesn't work. Could this just be Sprint catching on?
why would you reinstall it? was it not working?
just download from thgis site the wifi software. it worked on my tp2 spri nt
Code:
1. Edit the following regestry entries.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"
2. Start the Internet Sharing application.
3. Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application.
4. Connect the TP/TP2 to the Laptop/PC via USB
5. Done. No other applications needs to run on the PC/Laptop
Basically, you need to tether with "Sprint", not "Phone As Modem." Just tested this and it worked quite well. If you still are unable to connect, be sure you disconnect and reconnect the phone.
You might want to try to start a data connection manually first from Connection Manager. Then try to tether.
I had the same problem yesterday so i deleted
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry
Click to collapse
Now I don't get the code 67 thing when i start the modified ICS
Use the tp internet sharing fix.
I used the internet sharing fix from the touch pro 1 and it works well. U must make sure u allow dta connection from active sync on the pc...make sure it is turned on through comm mananger..should work like a charm
I have a TP2 now and tether with wmwifirouter. I have never had to do any editing/hacking of the reg or had any of the issues you describe but then I never tried to use ICS alone on TP2. My advice would be to download the free trial and see if that helps.
http://www.wmwifirouter.com/
I used to tether with my SPrint Mogul, first with just ICS in windows but had constant dropped connections. Then tried PDA net and had similar issues. I thought the newest PDAnet version might help so I purchased it but same issues. Still waiting for my refund.
Then I got wmwifirouter for my Mogul and it was like a beautiful dream. It worked 99.5% of the time. The difference in reliability between ICS and wmwifirouter or PDAnet + Activesync vs wifirouter cannot be overstated. Did I mention I really like wmwifirouter?
wmwifirouter doesn't depend on crappy Activesync on the PC side to function which may be part of the difference.
As for PDAnet, I used to save the error messages and email them to the company periodically. Eventually I ran out of hard drive space.

I did the above Reg Hack and now I can't get data while on the phone. Of course I can't remember if I could EVER get voice and data on CDMA as I just switched from GSM where that is possible.
I'm on Sprint and as soon as I use my phone the connection goes from an Ev to a 1x and it only switches back to Ev when I hang up. Is this normal or a result of the hack?
Thanks.

On CDMA you can't use data while on the phone. It's how CDMA works. It uses the same antenna/radio. So, nothing is wrong with your phone.
so this thread is confusing me. Are the instructions all you need or do I need to install something for standard internet sharing. Also, is this going through activsync? I have a mac and would like to use this (at rare times) on it. Is my only option a wifi program? Is there a bluetooth method?
I have done the registry hack and got tethering working, but upon a reset, the hack gets undone and the registry goes back to phone as modem. I am having to constantly change that key entry back to Sprint. Is no one else having this problem?

Install DotFred's TaskManager
Click select Menu, Tab Options, Select Tab, Services. Find "CM Guardian", click and hold until menu pop up and select "Set Manual".
Reboot
I posted more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=560865&highlight=enable
Why don't you just install the WiFi Sharing app... it works like a charm and you don't need to pay for internet sharing.
SOLVED
Ok, I had the same problem on my Sprint TP2. Here's the issue:
There is a program running that watches for you to change the "ForceCellConnection" registry key. It changes it back to "Phone as Modem" because Sprint REALLY wants you to pay $30/month for a tethering plan (despite the fact that your phone is capable of doing it for free).
The program running in the background is called "CMGuardian", and you'll find it in the registry under HKLM/Services/CMGuardian and HKLM/Services/CMGuaridan. (Note one is misspelled... probably on purpose by Sprint to keep people from searching the registry for it).
I set the DWORD key "Flags" to 4 in both keys and soft reset. This disabled CMGuardian (and frees up a lot of RAM too).
Next, you can edit the ForceCellConnection key and change it to Sprint permanently. ICS should now work. If you still get Error 67, establish a data connection first (open opera, or just go to conn manager and turn on data), then click Connect in ICS.

So what all is CM Guardian doing? We don't really know if it's doing anything else or not. Are we sure we want to stop it if we don't know what all it does?
CM Guardian is a program that keeps certain things within factory specs for whatever reason..
as long as you dont screw something else up in the reg CmG wont even be needed..(i think its to prevent us from reg mods)
if you disable it, edit the reg for tether, soft reset.
open web browser, open internet sharing, click connect, then connect usb to pc to phone and it will work..

Phone: HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA)
Current Rom: X-Plore 2.0
Radio: 2.19.11
Network: T-Mobile USA
Since upgrading to X-Plore 2.0 I am able to use Netfront, Internet Explorer, SMS, and MMS. But programs like Pocket IRC, the FTP client within Total Commander, and things like that won't connect to the net. I have verified that my settings are correct, So I donot understand what is occuring. All these worked perfectly before the upgrade but now donot at all. Unfortunately I donot have a Data Cable any longer to try and see if it was merely the rom or something else.
Please someone help!
This includes Windows Live (not connecting). I don't get it, why are browsers connecting but not my apps?
Okay just tried a hard reset. Still No Bueno.
If this helps:
Programs That Do Connect:
1. IE
2. NetFront
3. Opera (loaded only to test if it would connect)
4. SKTools (When it connects to see if there are updates available)
5. Tweaks2K2.Net (When it connects to see if updates are available)
Programs that DONOT connect:
1. PocketIRC (Keeps acting like it kind find a server to connect to just jumps from ip addy to ip addy trying to connecy)
2. Total Commander FTP Plugin (Says ''Username not accepted; Offline'' And that is on multiple FTP's including XDA'S!!)
3. Windows Live
Now I have verified my settings in connections and the fact that my browsers will connect shows me its able and is connecting and browsing the net. Please guys what could it be???? Thanks in advance!
And you are using GPRS ?
My WindowsLive is working ...i did not tested the others you said, but i am sure that Windows Live is connecting....except now, it won't work neither from my PC, that's M$'s bad not mine...
Mabe it's the connection or data plan. Are you sure that it worked before..or you changed data plan meanwhile ?
Yeah It worked before and I have not changed my data plan. If I recall it worked after the upgrade for a short while. Its been occuring for about a week now. Its bloody frusterating because my browsers all work, I can browse the internet, and do all that good stuff. I just cannot get things like PiRC & Total Commander to connect to the net. Even after a hard reset...Nothing. Could T-Mobile be blocking these apps? Of course once again that would not explain why NetFront and Opera, Sktools and Tweaks2k2 can connect. I am about to install OZ IM ill let you know if it works. Question though, Is there an alternative to using T-Mobile USA's 216 Proxy? Maybe a better one? Cuz maybe if I change the proxy to a non-T-Mobile one they won't be able to block it anymore..... Hmmm its an idea.
and sure enough OZ IM Connects its the one I found in the Ext. Rom
Yeah its gotta be a T-Mobile issue cuz all the programs that DONOT connect via GPRS/Edge connect perfectly via WIFI. Why would T-Mobile do that and is there a way around it?
Okay so I called T-Mobile and they deny doing anything of the sort. Which is good and bad. I am also getting a nice little messege in both WIFI and in GPRS when trying to download anything that states "This device is restricted from downloading this file type" when trying to download anything from the net. Any ideas?
Edit: I also called HTC and they said that there are no settings in the phone that would cuase this occurence which is bull becuase umm yeah....Anyway HTC tech support or at least every one of them that I talked to is for crud. Not very good support those guys.
Which data plan do you have? The $29.99 Internet one or the $5.99 T-zones one. If you only have the $5.99 plan, t-mobile filters a lot of the traffic that isn't on specific ports (ie port 80 for http works, but many other's won't) which causes some programs to not get network access. There were some proxies that allowed you to get around those, but a lot of them aren't working anymore last I heard.
If that's the case, probably your only solution is to pay for the full data plan which includes all ports internet access.
See the only reason I donot suspect the Data Plan being the issue (yes I have the 5.99 T-Mobile Web Plan, formely the $2.99 T-Zones) is because programs like NetFront and the like are connecting without issue. However I DO Suspect its a setting of some sort within the phone. I am going to try a level 2 Hard Reset (the one done with the combination of buttons) and see what happens. I tried a level 1 hard reset (The clear storage) to no avail. The level 2 hard reset will hopefully wipe it.

I am in the same boat as you. With my tinkering I found that programs automatically connect to the connection called "The Internet" which there is no way I can edit.
It connects to this "The Internet" automatically even when I set it to connect to my Proxy setting connection in Settings>Connections>Advanced tab on the bottom>Select Networks. Could that be the problem?
Okay after my Hard Reset 2 (the combination of buttons, I was finally able to get to download programs again, however I am back to having a 1MB download limit. And in answer to your question yes I have the same thing even though I don't have a connection called ''the internet'' other thing I have noticed is that the connection ISP does not allow for the assigning of a proxy server. Even though you can just make a new connection and assign a proxy server to that new one. This however does not circumvent our little issue. Nor does it get rid of my 1MB dl limit. Anichulis do you know how to change programs defualt connections away from Internet and assign them to use GPRS?
Hey This issue, is still occuring any ideas?
The Problem: I cannot get Exchange to sync correctly when using any 6.1 ROMs.
AT&T Tilt
AT&T SIM
Exchange 2003
Radio: 1.58.26.20
I really need to be able to Exchange sync in order to accomplish my job. From reading though the many 6.1 threads and searching around, I have found that people seem to be occasionally running into this problem, but there hasn't been any resolutions mentioned yet. The problem for me is that synchronization will not occur in ActiveSync. At one point, it would sync my contacts even though it said the sync failed. Others have reported that it will sync contacts and calendar but not email.
The Active Sync error code that I get after flashing a new 6.1 ROM and setting up Exchange the normal way is:
Result: Synchronization could not be completed. Try again later.
Support Code: 0x80830003
Here is a list of things that I have tried so far from searching and asking around that did not work:
1. Didn't work: Installing "remove hidden proxy" .cabs.
2. Didn't work: "What, exactly, are you having issues with? It's not an Exchange 2k3 incompatibility, as mine is synching fine. I did have to go into Settings > Connections > USB and turn off advanced network capabilities, though."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1940649&postcount=1155
3. Verify the following Exchange setting (already checked): "On the Exchange server, launch Internet Services Manager. Right click on the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directory and choose Properties. Select the Directory Security tab. Click the Edit button in the Secure Communications section and select the option to 'Ignore client certificates.'"
http://download.microsoft.com/downl...ices-Deploying_Microsoft_Mobile_Messaging.doc
4. Verify the following Exchange setting (not running Exchange 2007): "I also had trouble syncing with Exchange. I run Exchange 2007 and had to enable the option to allow the enrolment of non-supported devices in my ActiveSync policy. With WM5.0 or 6.0 it always worked flawlessly."

5: After trying kewlair's suggestion:
"The first issue I had was the initial setup. I set up my account properly, but ActiveSync would report that it cannot sync at this time. I knew that I had to uncheck the Use Proxy for this Connection option to solve this issue, but I couldn't find where to get to that setting for the MEdia Net connection that was being used. I finally found it in Settings -> Connections -> Advanced Tab, then tap the Select Networks button and where it says "Programs that automatically connect..." select MEdia Net instead of My ISP and then you can tap the Edit... button and remove the proxy server selection."
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1957501&postcount=3
...attempting to force a sync gives this. I also tried changing "Programs that automatically connect..." to My ISP with the same result:
ActiveSync tries to connect using either MEdia Net or My ISP and then says:
"Cannot Connect
Dialed: Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings. If the problem continues, reset your mobile device according to your manufacturer's documentation and try again."
ActiveSync Reports: "Waiting for network"
Right i am pissed so i might be being a ****, but, it would help if you told us
a) what version of exchange you are running.
b) whether you are using ssl to sync with the server
c) whether you are talking about syncing when connected to the pc, over gprs or such, or both.

Yeah, I have noticed some issues as well. I'm using dutty's official 6.1 release.
The first issue I had was the initial setup. I set up my account properly, but ActiveSync would report that it cannot sync at this time. I knew that I had to uncheck the Use Proxy for this Connection option to solve this issue, but I couldn't find where to get to that setting for the MEdia Net connection that was being used. I finally found it in Settings -> Connections -> Advanced Tab, then tap the Select Networks button and where it says "Programs that automatically connect..." select MEdia Net instead of My ISP and then you can tap the Edit... button and remove the proxy server selection.
The second issue I have found is that after a while (not sure on specific time) ActiveSync just seems to stop working, almost as if it is hung up. When I go to the ActiveSync window and tap Sync, it does absolutely nothing. Basically the only way i've found to get it to start working again is doing a soft reset.
Hopefully this will help you or other people out, because it took me FOREVER to figure this out. I am curious if anybody else is having problems with ActiveSync stopping responding with 6.1 also.
Same here
Hello,
I am having the same problem here.
I am using DCS 1.5 and windows Vista (Windows Mobilde Device Center). It has been working beautifully for a week..
But now I cannot connect the device to my computer through USB. When I do the charge led is on, but the device is not seen by vista.
I checked off "enable advanced network functionnality" in the USB to PC settings.... But nada!
Any help from otehrs would be appreciated.

I'm sorry, I might not have been clear. ActiveSync on the device hangs up, not on my computer. I haven't had any issues with ActiveSync on my computer so I think this is a different issue.

Sorry for the confusion, I thought you were talking USB since you mentionned the PC to USB thing. Still annoying though . I will repost in the DCS thread!
Direct push works without issues over AT&T's network on 3.0 Sleuth. My job depends on it working too. I've used it over MEdiaNet and My ISP connections although you need to be able to use my ISP to get it to work correctly (without 7minute delays). You can tell if its using the correct connection by waiting for direct push to connect after a reset then tapping on the big 3G icon. It should say its connected using My ISP (this assumes you let the connection wizard discover your provider and set you up of course).
The only difference between your settings and mine is that my email system uses SSL.
Certs aren't an issue if your exchange implementation doesn't need SSL.
I would really like to see the exact activesync error code you are getting btw.

It also happened to me on your newest 6.1 ROM Sleuth, thanks for chiming in here. I can only work on this issue during the weekend because come Monday I have to reflash to a working 6.0 ROM. I just reflashed with Dutty's newest 6.1 ROM and here are my updates (updated in first post also):

Thanks for all the help so far everyone.
Anyone else have any other ideas that I can try?
Have you tried not letting the network communication run and enter the att network connections manually. Just say No to configure your network config. I have had issues with the network communications auto setup.
1) Set up My Isp to use either wap.cingular or isp.cingular (depending on you data plan) and not setup the proxy.
2) Set up the work connection as medianet to use wap.cingular with the proxy setting
3) Set up MMS connection using the correct setting and using work connection (medianet) with proxy.
It really sounds like your issue is related to the network settings. If you look up your active sync error code on google all seem to point to the ATT proxy issues.
Good Luck

Thx but in that case error code would help. Because not working could come from many factor.
More strange is not working config when "upgrading" from WM6 to WM6.1 with STRICTsame config...
So if people could put more details it will help
The error code indicates that your exchange server is set to use client certs btw. Here's the exact recommendation to fix:
1. On the Exchange server, launch Internet Services Manager. Right click on the Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync virtual directory and choose Properties. Select the Directory Security tab. Click the Edit button in the Secure Communications section and select the option to “Ignore client certificates.”
Click to collapse
This is a server-side fix though. If you're not the IT staff that did this, then you need to get them to give you the client cert again.
your upgrade to WM6.1 caused your client side cert to disappear. The cert store on WM6.1 contains different certs in the root store as well which could cause WM6.0 to have the cert your exchange server requires but not this beta version of WM6.1.
Exchange installations which require client side certs are very rare btw which is why everybody is saying "works great here". Generally, server certs are used instead (require SSL must be checked in this case)

Solved. Thanks for everybody's help on this issue. eagle 1's answer above helped me find out what was wrong.
It was a really simple solution, but I have never had to mess with any of these settings on any of my previous WM devices. The solution was: The "Connection Setup" wizard did not set up my connection settings correctly. I had to set BOTH "Programs that automatically connect..." drop down options in the advanced connection settings to MEdia Net.
Thanks again to everyone that helped out.
surprising that you got a 0x80830003 error instead of the more common 0x8500200B (failed to contact server) message
My Software Version - TREO750-2.23-RWE
Firmware Version - 1.54.00.00
GPRS / 3G connection not always launches itself. I have push email and i find myself having to go to "manage connections" and activate it manually...
Can anyone help, please?
Try again athena_unlock program (run from TREO 750).
This util is obtainable after use CheetahUnlocker and extracting to C or D:/TempChe
or flash again WM6 TREO750-2.23-RWE form miniSD nammed CHEEIMG.nbh
Thansk for your anwser.
I can't run it again because it keeps telling that i already ran the upgrade...
extract cheeimg_fw.nbh, place it in a folder with kaisercutomruu.exe (search forum for this), rename cheeimg_fw.nbh to ruu_signed.nbh, execute kaiser*.exe
I do not recommend upgrading to 1.54.30.x
Thanks for your answer. But, if yoy don't recommend this upgrade, perhaps i 'd better stay still.. Right?
btw, it happens frequently that my data connection doesn't start when some application (as the IE) requires it; but, after editing the connection (without changing anything at all) it just starts working... till the next time.
Thanks,
instead of editing the connection, do this instead.
start
settings
connections tab
connections
manage existing connections
on your isp click and hold the middle button or stylus and you will get an option that says "connect"
Well let's explore the issue at hand: You do not get an auto-connect to GPRS/3G. Can you explain the situation a bit more. Is there data outbound (e.g. internet browsing or mail synch) or do you expect data to connect when there is no data outbound? When you attempt outbound data traffic do you get an error or simply no attempt at all to connect to GPRS/3G?
The situation arrives when i try to access the internet (IE) or push synch my corporate email (with Onebridge).
Sometimes it works fine; but... suddenly it stops working (i mean, the data connection).
So I deleted the registry key that blocks the ATT Fuze from using "internet sharing" (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings\ “ForceCellConnection”) and have been able to get online through USB, in fact I'm posting this while tethered.
The problem is that now, when try to use the internet on the phone itself, it always gives a gateway error 504
any idea what settings may have been changed??? Or how I get rid of error 504?? the phone connects but the internet doesnt work
I would just restore the registry through a hard reset
Do I have to unlock the phone again after a hard reset?
Internet stopped working on phone, only thing that gets online is weather from tf3d and activesync
Ok
After a hard reset, I'm back to square 1, internet explorer and opera keep getting error 504 gaateway timeout, but I'm using the phone internet sharing to post this....whats going on????
Im using an unlocked Fuze on Tmobile network using the internet2.voicestream.com APN
Am i the only one with this problem???
I thought I may have ****ed something up when I was trying to do internet sharing, I tried to sue ICScontrol app, but like I said. I did a hard reset and it still giving me gateway error 504
My email and activesync work fine, I can even get online through internet sharing....but not on the actual phone!!!
I talked to tech support and they were no help, I tried all the tmobile APNs but no luck, oddly enough the internet did work on my unlocked Iphone
What's going on?? Should I flash a new rom??
I'd be willing to bet that it's an IP address issue. I had the same symptoms after some problems with programs that automatically configured the phone's network adapters (which ICSControl does). Why a hard reset didn't fix it I can't even begin to imagine, though. My problem was that in the network adapter settings the phone was assigned a static IP on one of the adapters (I don't recall which one). I changed it to acquire an address from the server and was able to get back online.
Im still having this issue
Im connected through internet sharing right now, email works on phone and activesync works
but when i try to use a web app or browser, it times out
where can i check to "get ip from server??"
I upgraded to a newer rom and still same issue, dont know whats going on and im going crazy
someone please help

Start>Settings>Connections Tab>Wi-Fi>Network Adapters Tab
Select the network adapter and select "Use server-assigned IP address".
As I said before, I don't recall which network adapter was giving me trouble. Definitely hit the wifi adapter and the NDIS adapter(s). To be honest, though, if you've done a hard reset and even changed ROMs it doesn't sound like this is your problem (unless you keep recreating the problem somehow).
Turns out it was a server side error from tmobile
I was finally able to reach an english speaking tech and he had me change the APN to the VPN service apn and just added that to my line, he said a lot of people were having this problem
hello, I recently purchased the tp2 and love it so far. I have done a number of tweaks to the phone with no issues except for the tethering one. I followed the instructions that are given to tether which included deleting and editing some registry entries but i am having an odd problem. When i go the the internet sharing program and i hit the connect button, nothing happens. the "connect" button goes gray for a couple of second the returns to white for me to press it again. the status says disconnected and never changes.
I tried a number of things such as:
1.soft reset
2.reinstalled the internet sharing and edited the reg again
3.opened a connection with my web browser first
from what i understand is that the next step after "connect" would be a prompt that says "connect your usb cable" or something like that.
Has anybody run into this problem? Can anybody give me any advise?
Thanks
Im using mine right now but Ive also had a few issues
Make sure your Data connection is active( in connections under settings) before you try to tether

Question....where can I find these instructions....iv'e looked and can't find....THANKS!
HOW can I get Internet Sharing to work on my TP2
tp2 tethering
you dont need to make any registry changes for tethering to work. sprint doesn't see the data any differently(i have been streaming netflix through my phone to my laptop for a while). try a hard reset. with phone off hold power send call and end call buttons simultaneously until reset screen appears. follow instructions on the screen. also are you selecting phone as modem or sprint for the connection? be sure it is set to sprint. i ran into a similar issue and needed to call sprint to have them reset my data connection password and i updated profile afterwards and it worked fine. hope this helps.
I posted my tethering experience with Mogul and TP2 here.

the phone shutting down
I have tried the reg edit and it works for a while and then the phone will just power off like a soft reset.Has anyone have this issue and anyone have solutions
Thank you
I found it easiest to use the XDA-Tom Codon wifi cab for tethering. It enables you to use your phone as a wireless router for your computer and Sprint cannot see it. It works very well for me and its very fast, the only downfall is it runs your battery down considerably.....

i installed that cab and couldn't find anywhere to turn it on or set anything. where did u find it after installing?
EDIT: oops, found it by pressing the "all settings" softkey to get to the real WM control panel rather than the prettified touchflo interface.
Tethering vs WIFI use
Hi All,
First time poster here.
I have a new HTC TP2 on Sprint and love the phone. But when it comes to tethering, I have a few questions.
I finally got "Internet Sharing FIX" to work. It took a few connects of the cable to start it working.
When I installed "XDA-Tom_Codon CM Wifi Internet Sharing VGA" it seems to work but the data connection keeps dropping. Soft resets do nothing. A hard reset worked. But again after install the Internet Shareing FIX then Tom's WIFI sharing, the issue reappeared again.
It seems like these 2 cannot exist together on the phone. Is this true?
try this
install these: in order as posted make sure to soft reset after each cab
my bad here you go:

Thanks i2nd2none. I'll give that a try.

1. Internet Sharing FIX.cab
2. XDA-Tom_Codon CM Wifi Internet Sharing VGA.cab
in that order.
ur welcome let me know if it worked..

Which rom are you using? With a custom rom, does one experience these problems? I'd like to tether directly rather than wifi sharing. Does one do this with a custom rom and the above applications installed?
I am current using WiFi sharing on my TP2 with no problems from my home computer or iPod Touch but it doesn't work with my work computer due to it being locked down. :-(
If In install these three programs witll it allow me to direct connect via a USB cable?
Thnx.
I'm able to use ICS on windows vista via USB connection, but not for windows 7. Does the above fix solve the problem? (i'm using mightymike's rom)
