is the cingular 2125 really lacking wifi or is it just software disabled?
The htc faraday dosnt have wifi simply because, the hardware isnt there, there's no wifi chip on the board.
damn that is not very good. i wonder why they decided on not giving it wifi. thanks for your help though.
The space for the wifi chip is there on the motherboard with the label as well. I took a motherboard and LCD from a tornado (T-Mobile SDA usa) and put it in my faraday (Cingular 2125) and it worked fine with zero other modifications...sorry for thr blurry photo

hi,
It seems that the treo 750v have the MSM6275 Chipset : http://www.cdmatech.com/products/msm6275_chipset_solution.jsp
Anyone know how to activate the A-GPS like someone done on the htc tytn ?
thx
The GPS chip in the TyTn doesnt work yet, the GPS chip has no antenna connected to it so you'd have to take it apart and install one(they're still trying to figure out how and where)
It's possible they could get it working on the Treo 750, but we cant flash the Trinity radio(which enables the GPS link) like the TyTn users can(as far as I know)
keep praying for all those GPS things can happen to 750
it is possible to enable GPS on TyTN (you must install Trinity radio with number 11 at the end - e.g. 1.38.00.11 and also use GPS driver which sent [email protected] command), but signal is very weak, and you have no lock, which mean you cannot precisely find your position. even if you solder new antena there is many other soldering, and it is no place inside tytn to do that, to use shielded cable out of faraday cage and also for new GPS antena. easy way is to buy bluetooth adapter, but this is nothing new for you I guess...
this is some threads, if you like it to read it, about GPS on TyTN -

It's missing the GPS antenna and other stuff, it would cost too much time and money to get it to work. Consider this closed, it would be cheaper and wiser to just buy a bluetooth GPS unit.
When sitting in my office at home with my x7510 and HTC TyTN both cradled on my desk it is often the case that the TyTN will be showing a 3G signal whilst the x7510 is only showing an E. I took both to my nearest AT&T store and they were glad to swop out the SIM card on the x7510 for a new one. However, the AT&T system did not recognize the x7510 by reference to the IMEI number, whilst the TyTN was recognized as being a 8525. Consequently my TyTN was listed in their system as a 3G compatible device, but the x7510 was listed as only an Edge/GPRS capable device.
They recommended that I contact AT&T technical on the phone as they did not have the capacity to change the status of the phone locally.
Does anyone know whether it matters what is listed on AT&T's system. In other places (at my work office) I can get a U and sometimes an H on the x7510, but as I type this the TyTN shows 3G and the x7510 just a E, and they are both less than a foot apart and the x7510 is closer to the window!

What shows in the ATT System does not matter my Athena does not show in the system and I get 3G speeds. Possible that the TyTN has a more sensitive radio? Or maybe the 7510 did not step up to 3g automatically?
actually I'm almost in the same situation as u do, my kaiser gave me about 2 bars of 3G when I'm inside the office at work, but my athena gives me only edge in the same place.
i don't think it's anything wrong with AT&T's network but it's the athena itself. the antena my be a little bit low on sensitivity than the kaiser.
or it could also be a radio issue or a combination of both.
well thinking about it, it could well be a network issue, because would usually get 2 bar edge in the office, i called them up and it went up a couple levels then to engineers and now I'm getting 3 bars edge and sometimes 1 or 2 bars 3G.
If i go by the window or outside and catch the 3G then head back inside it stays a lot lot longer now.

For my Athena I know the radio ROM can contribute to this situation, since I don't have a 7510 is there a radio upgrade for your device? If so it may solve this problem.
No Radio upgrade to my knowledge for the x7510. Lennie to clarify, you did contact AT&T Engineer support and got something done to improve the signal?
Make sure you are using radio rom 1.58. My 3G sensitivity and speeds went up dramatically when I upgraded to 1.58.
Thanks for the input. For clarification the x7510 comes with radio 1.58 pre-installed.
Odd. I wonder if you have a hardware issue. With my 7501, after I upgraded to 1.58 I now get 3G/H signals where I never could before, deep inside a steel and concrete building.
I have the network type and GSM/UMTS band both set to Auto.
Hi guys,
My polaris randomly decided to stop recieving a signal the other day,
it still recieves GPRS data, but no GSM signal, no matter which network etc I select. (No Service Icon.)
First I tried different simcards etc in the phone but this didnt work, I then swapped over the board of the phone, thinking this must solve the problem but it hasnt.. (different Rom, Radio aswell)
Same as before the phone recieves a GPRS signal but no gsm signal. Just the exclamation mark next to the signal meter...
I also tried updating both the ROM and radio on the phone, and the board that I swapped in was from another polaris I had with a cracked screen that was working fine before...
( I used, outer casings from the suspected broken radio phone and the board from the cracked screen phone which had no reception problems.)
What could be the problem guys? Which parts of the phone affect the signal???
( The phone is actually an orbit 2, I have had it running for over a year now on the Mamine rom, and unlocked with Olipro and never had a problem, it also doesnt work with an O2 sim incase anyone suggested it was simlocked or something.)
Cheers,
Dan.
bump- please help guys!
were you moving around? could always be a carrier problem....
if gprs is working ok it's doubtful to be radio rom/hardware
Yeah, it is the same everywhere, just the noservice notification.
Other phones work fine, so def a prob with the phone...
Could O2 have locked the phone for some reason?? It was purchased via ebay, could it have been stolen or something? Would it have had 2 have an O2 signal for O2 to block the phone??
Cheers...
I have a same problem. Firstly, when i turn on my HTC TOUCH CRUISE. It says, no network, than after 5mins, it says, no sim card inserted. Can anyone help me what's the problem?
This problem seems to be popping up a bit around the forum...
Is it with O2 Orbit 2's only?? Could O2 have sent something out blocking some of the handsets via the imei or something?
Is there a solution??
Cheers guys,

I also have strange problems. My Cruise dropped on the floor on a skiing trip last March, and since than it has strange network problems.
It mostly says 'No service', but sometimes (randamly) it says something like 'Searching...', 'Denied,Searching...'
I'm not sure if I translated this correctly, I have a Dutch version of the standard 6.1 ROM. I hard reset, re-flashed to original firmware RUU_Polaris_HTC_NLD_3.13.404.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship.exe
Since this afternoon it is not connecting at all. No reception at all.
My provider is the Dutch one Vodafone (it shoud say '3G Vodafone NL'). Funny is that the those items are unchecked in the network selection (phone --> network --> select networks), but that seems to be the case with other users as well.
Does anyone has a clue?
Greetings,
Murwin.
Same Problem
My Polaris randomly goes offline and gives the ! mark next to the signal meter. I have tried changing Radio ROM and it makes not difference. I think the problem is with the SIM Card reader. I put some sponge tape over the top of the SIM Card reader so it puts even downward pressure on it and the problem is almost fixed. It still randomly goes offline, but only once a day now. If anyone has had any better luck, please post the solution here.
Thanks
Hello
I have a German T-Mobile branded Touch Pro 2 which has been flashed to the WWE rom (1.86.401.0 build 67102), radio 4.49.25.17, protocol 61.44tc.25.32U.
I seem to be suffering from lousy bluetooth and wifi reception and was wondering if anyone else has had any problems,
For the bluetooth, it will struggle to work with a headset that is more than 3-5 feet away. For the wifi, it will struggle if it is more than 4-5m from the access point (with line of sight).
This is really really poor and I'm wondering if my unit is defective or whether they are all like this?
If it's a problem just with my one, does anyone know what the problem could be? I've seen a disassembly guide, which shows that the antenna module is at the top of the device and is relatively easily removed/replaced. Could it be a bad connection to the wifi/bluetooth antenna? The GSM/3G coverage is fine.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew
I have the same situation with my phone.
Mine is a US unlocked Touch Pro2 flashed with the WWE rom (2.07.401.1 build 80303), radio 4.49.25.88, protocol 61.44tc.25.33U.
Any suggestion?
I broke the screen on my old phone recently and bought a new Touch Pro 2. The new one is fine in terms of reception, so I imagine the first one (and possibly your one) are faulty. If you have the opportunity to return yours and swap it, I'd do so.
I'm going to take the old one apart to replace the screen. If I find out what's wrong with the reception along the way I'll let you know. I suspect the aerial is not properly seated/connected on the contacts on the motherboard.

I have tried to troubleshoot my issue thinkin it could be my Altec headset. I paired it with my buddies phone "HTC Epic" and has clear connection for over 80 ft. Not the headset. I can't tell what it could be.
I have an EVO running Calkulin's EViO 2 ROM v1.2
Maybe its not that but not sure if its the Kernal or what.
My Wifi connections rock.
Hi everyone! Accidentaly I dropped my phone yesterday. I use EnergyRom June 1st CookieTab edition without major issues before that. Radio version is 1.11.25.01. I´m not 100% sure, but I realized that after that incident (from about 1/2 mt) I see only the "No signal" icon, and I can´t make or answer calls. My GPS, WIFI and Blutooth work without problems (all radio related). I flashed 2 radios and make hard reset with no success. I live in Chile (Touch Pro GSM buyed in New York 2 years ago), so the "support center" options is a dificult choice (no authorized HTC center that I know here). Is there anyone with a similar problem / solution??? Please help.
Best regards from Chile
Hopefully its something simple related to the sim holder & ribbon connectors.
You could have a look yourself if your a little technical (tech instruction manual in wiki) or take it to a good phone repair specialist for a basic inspection of sim card board & ribbon connectors.
Ok. I will try that. Do you think that I must see SIM card connections too? I was planning to see the "antenna" part
Yes antenna & also check sim board/connections.
My wife dropped her old Sony Ericsson and that was simply antenna plug dsconnected.
Good luck !
I sent my Touch Pro to an "authorized support center" here in Santiago. I will have an answer in 5 days. If they can fix my phone I will post what the fault was here. Thank you very much!
