Windows mobile 7 and Multi touch - General Questions and Answers

If Windows mobile 7 supports multi-touch will that mean that when and if a beta gets out to XDA devs, it wont work on a typical resistive screen phone like the xperia x1?
Thanks in advance.

doubt it would exclusively support multitouch
and in that case it would just not do multitouch but only single touch
but nobody know really wm7 is far off and everything can change X times
before it's released

Which one should I get? X1 vs Touch Diamond 2

Hi, I'm going to buy a new "phone" and I've read so many comparisions but I still can't decide with which one I should go.
I've followed the HTC phones for quite some time and recently I discovered the X1.
While I don't know very much about the X1, I heard that it has a dedicated graphic chip. Will any Windows Mobile application just use it or do the applications need to be exactly written for it? How fast is the interface? (for example, I hate how slow and unresponsive the Samsung Omnia interface was!) And is it as easy to use as the touch flo interface?
The only reason why I consider to get the X1 is it's keyboard, because there are a lot of emulators for Windows Mobile available but I won't be able to use most of them, JUST with a stylus.
So with which one should I go?
Or should I wait for the touch pro 2? Or another upcoming phone with even better specs?
Thanks in advance

WM or Android Dual-Touch Phones?

Are there any Windows Mobile or Android phones that have a dual-touch sensor like the iPhone/iPod touch? What I mean is, a phone that can recognize when you touch 2 spots on the screen at once?
The G1 or Htc dream has multi touch ( that's the correct name for that function) but you need to flash a custom rom for that. I'm no sure but i think that htc saphire and hero have multi touch as well
multi touch
htc hd2 but i have read this is only in some applications (Opera Mobile e.t.c)
HTC hero (android, sprint) has mulitouch enabled out of the box and so will the touch hd2 (windows mobile). Multitouch depends on the hardware so through software it can be enabled and older phones with the hardware like the G1
It depends on weather the screen is capacitive or resistive, im pretty sure resistive touch screens cant do multitouch but the benefit is that resistive are much more accurate

That couldn't be more true. Resistive is more accurate.
You wanna know why other phones are gonna be better than the iPhone. They will support MULTI touch. Not just 2 finger touch. Look at the Zune HD. That can support up to 4 finger touches. Mebe 5. (I gotta go check)
im really hoping they come out with a Zune HD type phone.. that would be amazing

+1 to that.
Am I the only person that wants an MP3 player and Cell phone all in one? It's really hard to find a phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack. I hate needing an adapter.

The iPhone surely supports more than two fingers as my brother's ipod touch has an app that has a 3 finger gesture/press.

That's rather intresting cause I could never get my ipod touch to do more than 2. Might be app dependent. But I can use any amount anywhere no the zune.

That would be awesome! I could get blue screen crashes everytime I call work.. Now I have an excuse for not calling in... My phone says "unknown error" lolz microsoft... If they make a zune phone, I will run as far as I can from the store that sells it. good advice to keep close...

Android on the TP2

Is there a thread for Android for the TouchPro 2
**Bump**
+1 on this?
I don't think anyone made one yet... I guess this could be it.
EDIT: Found this, but its for the GSM version of the phone instead.
Yeah nothing solid yet on Android for Rhodium
DonĀ“t forget to vote Rhodium!

Seeing as a true Android CDMA rom is in the far off distant future I think we should all just stick with virtualization.
Luckily it seems that VMware is looking to answer our prayers and give us a true dual booting cell phone OS option. Not just that we'll be able to run these two operating systems at once! I'm sure the Touch Pro 2 shouldn't have a problem handling such a task.

Until then, sit back and relax. I'm sure we'll be seeing this before Windows Phone 7.
touch Pro 2 has a resistive screen. Ive only heard of android working on Capacitive screens. the HD2 has a Capacitive screen so it may work on that.

HTC Vogue (aka Touch) has a resistive screen... and Android works great with it. Capacitive versus resistive is a non-issue.
I really hope someone gets Android working. I have it on my XV6800 which feel in water so all my physical keys are not working. I have impressed a lot of android users with my phone and now I am looking to get the TP2.

Windows Mobile 7....soon...very soon

Probably everybody already knows that Microsoft was working on totally new Windows mobile version what will have multi touch gestures and fully revamped UI something like Vista style.
The latest news is that it will be shown off at Mobile World Congress next month with expected release date late this year. I hope to see some leeks very soon in these forums
You can read full article here.
Cheers, whitealien
it could be very interesting, get it works on polaris
I'm scared that it'll be too heavy for the Polaris isn't it?
And no multi-touch for us, or am I wrong? Don't know if multitouch is possible with resistive technology :/
polaris cant even touch win7. we might get cooked ROMs with similar UI
Thank you for the news.
what he meant is be prepared to buy a new powerful device ...

i wish...but...good luck at that
from what i know not even HTC LEO is confirmed to run it smoothly as it only meets minimum specs (and all devices below it cant run wm7)...
im gonna be looking for tegra devices...
cheers
sounds pointless, i'm sick of buying phone os's that need a quicker CPU than the average laptop.

Multitouch keyboard

I heard that you can get a replacement keyboard on the Nexus One that supports multitouch. Does anyone know of a similar app for the HD2?
Nobody knows of an app??? Does anybody know a developer who might be interested in running with the idea?
windows mobile 6.5 does not have FULL multi touch as far as I know...
probably it wouldn't work on this os right now...gotta wait for winmo 7
