So last night I dropped my phone from about 1ft up onto a carpet and soon realized that there was a crack on the part of the phone that slides up on the side of the PTT button on the bottom corner. Also the plastic that covers the home, call, end and back button is starting to come off. So my question is would ATT cover this?

I tried to open up my last phone- wasn't too smart of an idea... I finished breaking it.
Its easier just coughing up the 120 for the insurance anyways.
Why would I have to pay $120

Hoping that you have insurance (because warranty doesn't cover what you did,) you would be looking at 120 deductible for the insurance whether u lost it *cough* or broke it. If you don't have insurance, you are SOL.
I have insurance....But if I did lose my phone I would pay the $120....and what happens if I lose my phone can someone just pick it up and use it.

i've had my motorola xoom for about 1 month already, purchased on may 19th from bestbuy. i love the tablet, but does your xoom creek on the bottom right when you push the glass down?? i should of paid for the extended warrenty.
Nope, is it noticeable during use?
No. How hard are you pushing?
Absolutely not. Extended warranty? The manufacturer's warranty is 1 year!
I've seen this before, you'll have to call Moto and they'll send you a box to send it back to them, should take 4/5 days from the day you send it to when you get it back. They send you an overnight box, will work on it/process it for a day or two and then send it back overnight.
Mine has absolutely no creaking with moderate pressure. However, how hard are you pushing down? All tablets will have some flex where the glass meets the metal due to the rubber grommet and glue's flexing. Just don't abuse it by testing it too much, and you'll probably be fine.
Quality?
Mine reached Tonka status in my book when it fell down the stairs hit the pavement and is still working like a champ.
Hi,
I also had the same problem, but on the left corner (when the Moto logo is on the top). Voiding the warranty, I opened the Xoom and push back the back cover, and now it seems better. However, I don't try to push it anymore. I also have my Xoom in a case.
I don't recommend you to open your Xoom unless you know what you do.
Regards,
if you put your thumb on the bottom right corner and your index finger in the back and squeeze a little. it creeks. thanks for heads up on the warranty. i will contact motorola.
Be careful checking for this. The LCD connecting tabs are probably really delicate. There's currently a thread about a line on someones screen (-presumably not from squishing his xoom).

HUGE Cojones
Absolutely no "creek" or "creeking." This is a very well built piece of hardware. Materials used are very high quality and the sheer weight sets it apart from other tablets. Could it be thinner/lighter, absolutely, but it would probably lose some of it's build quality and feel.

This survived an accidental 4 feet concrete drop, face first. Not a scratch and still working. No creaking sound or whatever btw.

Same mine, I think I will buy a cover
I bought the "Official" cover from Motorola, and it's pretty cool. A bit expensive, but it functions as a stand for Xoom.
i also am using the motorola portfolio case and pushing the xoom in and out of the case might be the reason why the glass creeks on the bottom right. pushing it every time to get it behind the tabs to hold it down.
talk about fast service. i contacted motorola online chatting with customer service. they shipped me a box the next following day. i shipped the xoom on 8/3 and i got it back on 8/8. thats a very fast turn around time. they gave me a new tablet.
**** me right, I am now having this issue. I have never ever dropped my xoom and i have always left it in a case (first Motorolas official case and now a leather case) what should I do? I still have warranty but I don't want to return it because I have rooted and put in custom rom. The Creek sound is on the left side exactly where the volume rockers are located. Why is this even happening? I have never dropped it and I take care of it just like a ****ing baby
Hello all,
The glass cover on my sidekick got broken accidentally. The LCD works fine.
I'm planning to get a replacement front panel glass.
I found the following link on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tmobile-Sam...ultDomain_0&hash=item2c605f3c7e#ht_2045wt_905
Is this an original OEM part as described? After it's replaced will it work as good as the original?
Any other options other than the above ebay link?
Please help!

God only knows. It'll probably work though.
Sorry this is late, but the ribbin cable and glass seem to be just like the original. Let us know how it went.

How did you break it? I'm asking only because I know this is a pretty durable phone, I've already dropped it screen first on gravel, without a scratch to show of it.
This looks legit to me. Digitizer is the key word. I've replaced many of these on different phones. As long as it's a ditizer for the correct phone model number. Are you doing this yourself? There should be some good tutorials on disassembly on youtube.

@AFAinHD It was bizarre! My watch was on a chair. My wife threw my watch onto the bed saying "here it is. keep it ". The metal part of the watch fell on the mobile (the bevel part of the glass). You could imagine our shock after that!!

You need the whole replacement - it's next to impossible to separate the digitizer from the LCD.
What is "Charlie Horsing" your phone? Make him pay for it.

Oh I see, he CHarlie Horsed YOU and hit your phone. Haha. Well then that's more of an accident, I don't know if you can justify making him pay for it.
You should be able to get a screen for around 60 bucks as you mentioned in your initial post. I think I paid 65 for mine.
Good luck.
I'm kind of sad about it really. It has never been significantly dropped. My friend dropped his like 4 feet onto a metal bench press bar and only dented the side slightly inward. I seemed to have managed to bend my phone. It no longer lies flat, it rocks, and there is this strange outward dent like a support beam needed somewhere to go. You can clearly see the bend when you look at the side view volume buttons. I'm sure my warrenty is voided as they would likely claim this cannot be from normal use. I've dropped it onto carpet a couple times and thrown it on my bed. It remains a mystery. Maybe my pants are too tight? For reference this is the case I use. Not over the top protection but it should save it from most soft falls I would think. Pictures attached. Sorry for the eh quality. It was a dark room and I don't have a macro lens for my DSLR.
Looks to me like possible damage from when you removed the case itself?

That's a good thought. Maybe, but I think the case is honestly too soft for that. I would expect the plastic to tear before the side bends, although who know. It's not a super thick case and the little lip that could, unlikely, fit in the small gap is rather thin. Plus the power button being bent and it not sitting quite flat on the screen have me skeptical about that. I don't think I've ever ripped the case off hard either, I dunno. I'm honestly not sure what to think about that possibility. Think it could pull the metal out like that?
Really thin piece of metal there. If the case caught caught down between and you pried it off I could see it bending like that. Just a thought.
well

screen toward butt, tight jeans, and a slight bend over would do exactly that.bent the wrong direction for anything much else...looks to be very easily repaired you may damage speaker covers getting the back off the phone...once off, massage. the area gently and the whole back gently and should be able to get it back in the position with very little and I mean very very little effort else you can kink it badly..

ok just saying, somewhere around here there is a thread on the replacement backs and speaker grills youTube is a wonderful thing and sure beats being without your device.
but if you choose to do it yourself make sure you watch all the videos you can get your hands on I have run into misleading ones in the past and done mild damage to external components due to very vague and misleading videos but if you do your homework and you are thorough and believe the video you watched to be very thorough they will usually tell you what parts you need to purchase in advance and it should only take the average person with an hour to do any repairs of the sort
I've bent my phone the exact same way.. Just get a small screw driver, butter knife etc.. Tape the end incase you slip and won't scratch it and push it back in.
Mine bent too. I think it has to do with the case. It probably bent it. I tried to push mine back in, but to no avail. Luckily for me though, my volume button ended up bending too. It bent to the point where it didn't work anymore. So I took to Verizon and they gave me a replacement no questions asked. No more bends. [emoji2]

I recently sent my M8 in for warranty repair, due to blown speakers (I manage a machine shop, so you can imagine the metal particles everywhere). I had dropped the phone on asphalt this past summer (2 days before I received the TPU case I had ordered), gouging up the back, and also had a dent/impression in the back of the case, like it had been pressed hard against an edge or corner of something.
I went through HTC directly, and they never questioned the damage to the back, and sent back my phone with a nice and shiny new back on it. Their customer service is superb.

My screen ended up cracking in one small spot due to the bend. HTC said I can send it in and see what their warranty team says and if needed appeal the charges since it bent on its own. They did say no guarantee that would work though. Think it's worth the shot? I also have insurance so anything more than 100 dollars (including the cost of shipping it in) is a waste.

If your phone is less than a year old, don't even bother with your "insurance". Just talk to HTC. I thought for sure my phone was out of warranty with HTC (I don't have Asurion), but to my surprise, it was still in warranty. No deductible, and you just pay for shipping to their depot in Texas.

I did, they said the main issue was the screen crack. It's not covered after the first six months. And whether or not they'd cover it in this case is up to whoever processes it at the warehouse.

Yeah maybe that is it. I used a debit and credit and still got shut down. I would use paypal but they do not take it.
Anyone know what sort of glue/silicon/tape I need to keep the camera glass on? Would prefer not to use super glue, for obvious reasons...
Just bought a V20 and mine came outta the box half falling off. I can keep pressing it back on, but there's just not enough glue underneath to hold it on. Half tempted to return it and get a new replacement, but if these things tend to break anyways, I'd rather just fix what I have already.
Falling off is obvious defect. They'll replace it. The issue for people like me is that LG hasn't officially acknowledged the shattering issue so to my carrier it's reckless damage. Even though I walked out with the phone and came back 5 minutes later with a shattered camera glass with no signs of dropping.
Replace it while you can and see if they'll let you get one with a recent manufacturing date.

Funny you mentioned this, it came in today! So far, I've only given it a visual inspection and the glass is intact on the new one. I'll give a run down, process, and hopefully pics tonight.
Okay, so I finished it. Everything works as it should. Finger print, both cameras, etc. no issues at all.
I did encounter a few issues. First, it was hard to line everything back up again. specifically on the left side, there is a button module that doesn't seem to seat fully. This left my fingerprint sensor not lining up quite as flush with the back cover as it did from the factory, maybe .5mm off. The same can be said of the top cap. its barely noticable, maybe .5 - 1mm off. but its enough that I notice but nobody else well. The last thing I encountered is the new piece has this little rubber stopper on the upper right corner where a metal tab was on my phone. I thought something was wrong at first but just remove it and you will be fine.
As for the walkthrough.... First, remove the back plate and the battery, sim, sd card. Theres maybe a dozen or more screws to remove. you can leave in the ones on the middle left that have a silver back plate. those do not hold in the plastic piece you are removing. next comes the upper and lower caps.. these were really difficult to remove and I felt like I was going to break something but they just snap off once the screws were removed. I followed iFixit and started at the lower left by the speaker to remove the plastic plate. Its really easy to break so take your time and use a prying tool. if you use your fingers you will break something. I used qtips and rubbing alcohol to clean the lenses and get rid of some dust that collected. everything just goes back on in reverse. very simple and easy, no glue. good luck guys!
