Can't root my HTC magic after applying Nordic update

Hi, folks!
Couldn't find any topics about having problems with rooting HTC branded magic devices after applying _HTC Magic_RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_2.20.401.2_HTC_Nordic_release_signed_NoDriver ROM from offical HTC home page, so have to ask.
Situation: HTC branded magic (32A). Before applying above mentioned RUU, tryed to root my phone. Everything perfect, but than i applyed backup from recovery flasher. Than installed this nordic RUU and it is not possible to root device using recovery flasher any more.
So how to root this device? Any ideas? I can't even downgrade to basic HTC provided ROM i had before.
Spec: SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT - 1.33.0014 (SAPP10000)
CPLD - 12
RADIO - 3.22.23.18

Did you try the goldcard method ?

I know for sure that goldcard method do work... I have rooted some magics with that SPL and Radio... So go ahead...

Tryed using goldcard method, but still it doesnt work. I used this manual - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547133
I get to this point "- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it." and than it says: "Main Version is older!" and that's it. Where do i go wrong?
UPD.: Tryed this file (ROM v2.53.707.2) and those two manuals (http://vivekgolecha.blogspot.com/2009/08/as-promised-i-said-i-would-come-up-with.html and http://mariusmadsen.dk/2009/11/25/how-to-root-a-danish-htc-magic-from-3/) to get everything working.

I have the same problem like you had.
Can you tell me how you did it?
I think I successfully made a goldencard. But it wont boot from the goldencard what ever i put on it. i get some error "no or wrong image

yes when i press volum down and power. the screen with a android on skateboard, its there i get the error message.

I used the guides topic creator linked to and it worked except that I can't flash my recovery program. Are you using Fastboot with USB connection to your PC?

yes i do, but i get an error.

thats when the phone is in fastboot usb, when the phone is started normally I just get waiting for device. But i know I have connection because when i run adb devices i get the serial number

Rooting SG HTC magic with sense UI

hi,
Sorry if its already discuss somewhere, Im holding a SG Magic hardset 32A mobo
my version is
HBOOT-1.76.0007
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.07.29
i cant seem to root the device, error i got is (fastboot remote: not allow) so i tried Amon_RA Fix perfact SPL but it show "Main Version is order!"
is it possible to root my device?? or is there any guide available that i can follow??

When you are in the FASTBOOT screen, is there S-ON in the first line?
If so, maybe you need to flash to Engineering SPL first, I used following one:

When updated, you should see "S-OFF" in the first line of FASTBOOT screen.

And remember when you flash the recovery from Amon_RA, please choose the one for Hero on your magic, not the sapphire one.

Thanks for your help and reply, but it seems that this engineered SPL patch don't work, I'm getting "Main version is old" error. And after reading some other post, it seems that my HBoot version is one of those that cant be root yet.

No, I've got the 1.76.2007 SPL on my Magic 32A, it works on both Magic and Hero.

I have the same SPL on my Magic:
My phone is from TIM Brasil:

if u try a little search u'll find thant after the official sense update for magic, the spl become to 1.76.0007

The 1.76.0007 and 1.76.2007 SPL is for the Magic as well as the Hero.
I'm surprised you made this mistake... you have a Magic with the 1.76.2007 SPL...

Sorry for this mistake. I just wanted help us. My Magic had SPL 1.33.0009 not 1.76.0007.

Mine having 1.76.0007 too. Damn... So desperate to flash custom ROM and yet... ...

I'm just wondering why there's no clue of rooting it.

Paul O'Brien (Modaco) made superboot.img for Tattoo
His method is simply - he compiled kernel and added script to copy su into system
Installation is:
adb-windows shell reboot oem-78
choice /T 10 /C ON /D O > NUL
fastboot-windows boot tattoo.superboot.img
fastboot-windows reboot
then need install superuser.apk and get phone rooted.
But, it doesn't work on all tattoo's
So... anyway, it will be good idea to do same.
We need change boot.img and oem-78 to right things

Now that Tattoo and even Nexus are somehow rooted, is there some way to copy su into Magic with perfected SPL?

How to root after updating to 2.56.494.7 rom

I had to update my phone with the above rom in RUU mode because it was stuck in RUU mode and couldnt do anything. I have a goldcard created but I dont know what SPL to install because of the rom version. would anybody be so kind as to helping me what to do next. Thanks.

Go in fastboot by pressing back+power (while your phone is switched off) and tell as what your SPL and radio version is. I suspect it's a 1.33.xx.xx SPL and 3.22.xx.xx radio, but you should better tell us in order to help you.

Im on a 32b, S-ON H.

Are you sure it's 32B, S-ON H. If it's 32B, it should be S-ON G. Be very careful. If you flash your 32B Magic with a ROM that is meant for a 32A, you may brick your phone.

what originally happened is that i accidentally flashed my phone with an 32a RUU update, which didnt finish and got stuck on the RUU mode screen. I flashed it with an arabic RUU and i now my phone is up and running again. That is definitely what comes up on the fastboot screen. Is there a 32b RUU that I can update to? or can i root my phone?
Official 3.03.990.6 SenseUI ROM for Vodafone - is where I got the rom from.

You should follow the instructions on this post. A friend of mine did the same thing and I used those instructions to install Amon_RA's ROM for 32B Magic.
Since you' ve already installed the Arabic ROM, you should do the rest:

Put the flashrec.apk in the androidsdk folder. From a command prompt (the path should be that of your androidsdk folder) run:
Code:
adb install flashrec.apk
Put the exact name of the flashrec app you downloaded.

i have rooted the phone through unlockr steps...then followed cursors steps to update to radio 6.35.10.18 and spl 1.76.2007...and i put the amon ra hero-v1.6.2 recovery on my phone
now the problem is that when i try booting into recovery using the home+power button nothing happens it turns on to the "htc magic" screen and hangs
then i saw amon ra's post that said place the rom on the sd card and then boot...tried that nothing..it hangs again
any help would suffice...i know im doing something wrong but the phone works with amon ra sapphire-v1.6.2G with stock radio and spl

What phone?

If you're using RA's "G" recovery, you've got a 32b phone.
Try booting into fastboot and if that doesn't work than you've got a pretty nice looking paperweight.
You might be able to reverse it with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591048&highlight=jtag
but don't get your hopes up

If the problem is only with the recovery image you should be able to fix it. Boot the phone in fastboot mode (vol-down + power). Then do this:
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-Magic32A-6.35-v1.6.2.img

i dont think G has anything to do with 32A or 32B...i have a mytouch 1.2 with 3.5mm jack
oh yeah and like i said the phone WORKS with stock rom, spl, and radio(followed unlockr steps)

I have the exact phone as you do, and am having the same problem! Glad to see this post is getting some responses. Hopefully we can get something figured out. I as well have followed the same steps you did to unlock your phone and flash the new radio/spl. I've tried multiple recovery files and nothing changes, just sits at htc magic screen.

If that wasn't clear enough that it was not for your phone than the revert to 3.22 radio part must have been. (Why? Because you did not have that radio in the first place, and you cant revert to something that you did not have.)
That radio and spl DO NOT WORK on the new mytouch 1.2

Actually, you need to downgrade to the 2.22.23 (stock) radio and "G" recovery. As long as you've booted into fastboot with your goldcard in (missing SAPPIMG) without a "perfect" SPL, it can be done. Total pain, but it can be done...
You may need to "fastboot erase radio", "fastboot erase recovery" and "fastboot erase boot" just before flashing them again. As I recall, it doesn't "take" unless you've done this.

eyegor, you posted a statement from the origional thread stating "THIS IS FOR 32A MAGIC/SAPPHIRE ONLY!!!" But what about the fact that we have a Sapphire phone? in fastboot ours state "SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G" Doesn't that show we have the correct phone? I understand what your saying about the 3.22 radio

The Mytouch 3g Fender/LE/1.2 is not a normal 32a phone. It's unique. If you wanna do anything with a fender or 1.2, make sure the instructions say they're for that exact phone. Stuff for the G1 or original Mytouch 3g or any of it's varients won't work on the 1.2(except for cyanogen's new 2.1 testing rom which has fender/1.2 patches integrated now)

So if the post says its for the 32A, I/we shouldn't assum its for the Fender/1.2? Only use roms that say they are for Fender/1.2?

Every phone of this kind says SAPPHIRE....refer to the rest of my post.

ok im new to android...i thought that the mytouch 3g 1.2 was the 32A...i unlocked it through the unlockr method bringing me to that spl and radio....how can i upgrade to hero then?
