**MY PHONE IS NOW WORKING***
Hey guys,
I am going to start by saying that I have read almost every single sticky, thread, wiki and anything else I could get my grubby hands on to try and solve my problem; but I fear I may have missed something, or done it wrong.
Now to my problem. My friend who had the same phone as me did a HardSPL flash a long time ago and gave me some new ROM. It worked for awhile but wasn't great so we changed to a different ROM. After awhile I got sick of this one and all of its bugs so about 3 days ago we got some with windows 6.5; unfortunately something happened; causing it to be highly unstable, so we switched AGAIN.
Now to my problem. It will not boot. If I just let it boot without doing anything *or if I hit keys* it goes to an hTc TyTn2 screen with the R; G; and D displayed. I tried to flash it via Micro sd card but all I get is a white screen with blue "loading..." and nothing; it will sit there indefinitely. I have been following cmonex's instructions to a "T" and I am stuck. I attempted to do the USB route and the phone will display the tri-colors and say USB, but my computer *Vista* isn't seeing the phone. I tried different USB ports etc. and nothing. Please let me know what you guys think; anything would be greatly appreciated.

I would recommend down-grading to xp. But if you can't try to explore the drive as a removable driver
Are you sure when you flashed it via MicroSD you had only one file named KAISIMG.nbh on the card?
This happened to me about a month ago, if it's still going to bootloader there is a good chance you can recover but the process is a bit intricate, especially to a newcomer like myself. I spent more time reading on how to fix this issue than I did on the entire process of flashing roms, mtty specifically. These are the threads I used to get running again, don't lose hope. I assure you the your answer is there.

I am sure. I even reformatted the sd card to a FAT32. It goes to a loading screen then freezes. I can also get it into the tri-color screen and have it say USB at the bottom, but when I try and flash it via USB; for some reason it starts at 0% and then crashes.
I am able to work with it in MTTY and I had to use a Task 8 command for anything to happen. I was told my friend already did a HARDSPL; is it possible that this was deleted/ corrupted?
Put your phone in bootloader mode what does it say?
Have you tried a Hard Reset yet?

hey everyone, My phone is temporarily working at this point!!!
My new question is, how do I know if my friend really put a HardSPL on my cell the first time. I know that one way to tell was through MTTY and boot command, but my cell didn't respond to that. My friend said he put a HardSPL on; would doing it again hurt anything?

Put your phone in bootloader mode and if it says "hard" next to "SPL:" it's got a hrd SPL version.

I am trying to flash a HardSPL to my phone; the computer see's the device but will not allow me to copy any files to it. When I go though the sync center, it begins to connect then says error. What should I do?

Try copying them via the SD card using a card reader if you have one.
Ta
Dave
tryd that, all it does is say loading and pretty much stays there indefinately.
Right, lets take a step back...
You don't have Hard SPL at the moment?
If not, the best guide for flashing Hard SPL is here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
Follow through what mskip advises and let me know if you get stuck and at what point.

I get stuck at the very first step were you are supposed to copy the 3 different JumpSPL files. I even tried copying a word document and it said "the file Reference could not be copied. It may not exist or cannot be transferred."
My computer can access the phone, but I cannot transfer anything to its memory. I also tryed copying it to the sd card while it is in the phone and it gives me the same error. Active sync whont work either, just keeps saying error.

Try deleting and re-creating the partnership... Do you have Office installed, this might stop if working.
Do you have a Card Reader, put the card in there and put the files on the card that way.
Failing that MyMoblier let's you copy files, I think it works differently to AS.
Dave
i have deleted the partnership and created a new one, and it doesnt work. As for mymobiler; the website will not load for me on either my desktop or laptop.
one thing i just tryed which was interesting was to load the 3 JumpSPL files onto the sdCard and then copy them to the phone's main memory. It wouldnt allow me to do this. How do I remove the read/write protection on the phone?

did you ask this question in those threads? i just searched all your posts and im not seeing where you asked in those threads before you started a new thread.
didn't see where you tried to flash stock rom either, i recommend trying to flash it, and flash stock before you flash any cooked roms.
i never said I did any of the flashing. my friend did it all, and he claims to have done the hardspl. he then loaded new ROM onto the phone. Since he is no longer around, and everything has gone hay-wire, I am trying to fix it.
Here is my new situation; I can get the phone to fully load into the rom, but it does not have the HardSPL installed. The computer will recognize that the phone is plugged in, but active sync will not connect; just says error. If i go through "my computer" and try and copy files that way it says: "the file Reference could not be copied. It may not exist or cannot be transferred." I have tried to just re-flash it *because i really need it up and running* and the programs just say they cannot. I even used CID unlocker and it says it failed. I just don't know where to go from here.
Try doing a Hard Reset and see if your symptoms change. NOTE: Remove the SD Card.

I want to start out by saying I'm really sorry if I'm asking something stupid but I am a complete newbie and do intend to learn as much of this on my own as I can....
I took my brand new AT&T Tilt and I connected it to my Vista Laptop when it was charged fully and used the built-in Windows Mobile Device Center to do a quick connect (like a guest connect where files can be transferred but stuff isn't synched) and ran kaiser_HardSPL which gave me a white screen rather than the expected tri-color screen.
I found the solution for the white screen and did a reset by pushing the stylus into the small hole space on the bottom of the Tilt and then connected it again to my laptop and copied over JumpSPL1.56-KAIS to the phone. I then ran that app from the phone and the tri-color screen showed up. When 'USB' showed up on the screen I disconnected the USB cable for about 10 seconds and plugged it back in. The text 'USB' stayed on the screen and nothing happened after that. I then used the stylus again to reset the PDA again and I am now at my current step.
Am I ready to put a ROM on now? I'm so new to this and I definitely want to learn just not sure what's next....is my CID unlocked? Did everything go correctly or did I miss out on some important step?
What should I do next if I want to put a new ROM on? Whatever help anyone can give me would be very much appreciated.
Looking forward to becoming an active and contributing member to this great community!

Quick question, and I'm not trying to be funny or anything, but did u read?
Thanks for the quick reply -- I did read the different threads that I thought would be dealing with this but was unsure of what to do after I did the white screen fix. The white screen fix said there was a way to test if it worked by checking a splash screen but when I ran that it said make sure you've already done HardSPL first otherwise it can brick your phone so I wasn't sure if I did actually do that step properly or not (of installing HardSPL).
I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you again for taking the time to read my post!

I can answer that!
I apologize for missing something obvious -- could anyone please point me to which thread I should look at?
Thank you.
No your device is still not ready.

You're on the right track. From what I gather you can indeed flash something at that stage on SSPL or continue on to flash HardSPL (which is what I believe you intended to do!). Get back to the stage you were at and, from the thread in which you found JumpSPL, flash HardSPL onto your phone. After that point you are totally ready to become a slave to dutty's roms...
Look here and ye shall find: HardSPL will not install - WHITE SCREEN: SOLVED
Well, first correctly install HardSPL, then go on flashing a ROM. You may find my FAQ usable. See my signature.
Nono... one more step to go.
After disconnect and connect usb flash hardspl then softreset.

Already corrected it. But you were faster ^^
Thank you to all of you -- you're all being very helpful!
I ran the flash-hardSPL (ran the file in that folder called KaiserCustomRUU) and it gets all the way to where it is updating the rom image to the kaiser-hardSPL version and it shows 0% on my phone and 0% on the PC and after about a minute or so it says ERROR [262] : UPDATE ERROR ... it instructs me to remove my battery for 3 seconds, put it back in and try again.
I've done this twice now and keep getting the same error -- any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you once again.
The only thing I can think about is that your phone is simlocked.
Do you have the usb cable connected straight to the pc or do you use a usbhub?

Oh yes, that's true. I didn't realize I had to unlock my phone before I could start this process...I guess I confused it with CID unlocking or something.
I must have missed the part in the newbie FAQ about phones needing to be sim unlocked for all this stuff to work.
I guess I will have to get it unlocked first! Very much appreciate the prompt replies.
oh i just realized my SIM wasn't even in the phone while I was doing this (since I took it out during the white screen fix) -- would putting the SIM back in still create the same problem if my phone isn't unlocked?

No, a SIM-lock does not affect flashing.
So you ran JumpSPL from your phone, saw USB displayed on the screen, unplugged the usb cable, replaced it and then ran the hardspl provided from the thread I linked you to? There is no soft resetting going on between seeing USB on the screen and initiating the hardspl flash.

Hi arexben,
I actually was an idiot and soft reset after unplugging and then plugging in the USB and not seeing any change on the screen.
Now if I put JumpSPL on my PDA and try to run it, it won't run saying it can't be opened because its either not signed w/ a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found.
Thank you so much for everyone trying to help me ... so to clarify, my phone has not been unlocked from AT&T and I am assuming I should still be able to get this stuff working.
Thanks again!

Thank you again!
If the answer is one this site already I apologize to everyone but I have been searching for 3 days now and no joy.
I will try to keep is short and simple.
I have been flashing for the last year now and have never had trouble until now. Flashed Duttys ROM released on June 5th I believe. Went great but still had old HardSPL on my phone. Followed the steps to flash latest SPL 3.29 and it never took. As a matter of fact something happened to the USB and my pc was unable to recognize the device. So I was stuck for the moment and had to leave that way until I had more time.
Received a phone call and when I hung up it went to white screen with call graphics at the bottom, missed call, received call, etc. I soft reset the phone and then the Tri-Color screen came up and this is the info:
KAIS130 MFG
SPL-1.0.0lIPof
CPLD
I am assuming this is the first HardSPL that I loaded. So then I preceed to flash via SD and it says that the flash completed and was successful. However when I soft reset the phone goes back to the Tri-Color sceen and does not load the image I just flashed.
Anyone have any ideas how I can get this phone working again? I am open to any and all suggestions.
Thank you in advance
does the bootloader show ruunbh on top?
ok this should be an easy fix! the poster above asked the right question!
lets start from scratch now though ok,
-first download SSPL.KAIS and save it to your memory card.
- Download Which ever hardSPL you would like to use.
- run SSPL.KAIS from SD card and then flash New HardSPL, check to make sure it flashed right by going into bootloader should say what ever SPL you just flashed.
- If that flashed correctly then proceed to flashing the HTC WM6.1 shipped ROM, which can be found on the forum! Make sure its a NON-cooked rom...
- If that flashed correctly then pick which ever custom rom you would like and flash that, make sure that flashed correctly and if so your done
Austinsnyc,
Thanks for the speedy reply. Sorry just a few questions and one statement.
The phone is in the Tri-Color screen state constantly. The only way I can load the bootloader is if I rename a ROM to KAISIMG.nbh. Then is something akin to ROM, radio, etc and when that flashes they will have an OK next to them. Alright with that said a few questions.
Do I have to rename the SSPL.KAIS file, it does not run as is? When loaded on the the card, Tri-Color comes up and then for a brief second is says, Loading.....No Image File.
Do I load both files on the card at the same time and do I have to rename them? i.e. KAISIMG.nbh
Thank you for your help

No it doesn't. I will say KAISIMG.nbh, the ROM I renamed to load. Then is list all the features of that ROM, i.e. OS, SPL, radio. I flash it and it says success but still will not load.

thesire,
I will research the this more. It does say usb on the phone with plug in otherwise when unplugged it says serial. When plugged in I can't see usb in the drop down in MTTY. I will keep reading.
Btw, it now says RUUNBH in the top right hand corner.
Thanks

that means you have bad data blocks which can also be cleared using mtty.
I must be very thick, I can't get MTTY to connect. Every time I plug in the USB to my Vista OS pc is says it can't recongize the device and it has malfucntioned. I know the USB is working, it was up until I was having this problem at least.
So I start MTTY and look for USB in the drop down for Port but only COM 1 & 2 show up.
So any other suggestions you or anyone else may have is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your patience
with Vista you need to use Mtty 5.13 which can be found in the FrankenKaiser radio from hell thread. There is also a guide on how to install the old XP drivers to WindowsMobileDeviceCenter that helps a bunch with USB issues. Also I think you miss understood me the tri-color screen is the Bootloader screen!!!

I don't think it means bad blocks for sure.
Ok. I have read just about everything I can find on MTTY, old XP drivers (which I already have installed) and I still can not get anything to work. When I plug in the phone via usb, pc says it cannot recongize the device and it must have malfunctioned. I have tried MTTY 5.13 numerous times and still cannot get usb to show up and have been unseccessful with all my attempts to connect via a COM port.
Is there any place in NYC, Brooklyn or Queens that I can take this phone too and someone with more experience can fix this for a fee of course? I just and need to get my phone working again.
So I have another question since I have been unable to get anywhere with the dang thing.
I am unable to get my laptop/pc to recognize the phone, I can't even get drives to load. Been searching and reading and still looking for a solution to this issue. If you know where is answer is in this forum could you please point me in the right direction?
Aslo, if someone is willing to spend the time with me to solve this issue get the phone running again, I will be more the happy to donate generously.
I think this can be solve quickly if I could get the time with someone.
For the folks that have replied, I can't thank you enough it has been a great learning experience.
Thanks

I cant hard reset, it just goes back to the tri-colour screen.

I somehow seem to have gotten somewhere.
I just repeatedly kept trying to hard re-set, taking the battery out, connecting USB.... and then it hard-reset.

I wonder if you can recommend a stable ROM? I love the speed and battery life of the one I installed but dont like the idea of being between meetings and having a phone in limbo.

Hello to all, I am a noob here and have tried to adhere to all of the demands to do research and not post ?'s, but I am at a wall.
I have a Tilt and I ran the sim unlock and I was using the Sleuth 3.0 on it. Everything was working fine. I added the Iunlock cab and it worked fine as well. I then tried to install the icontacts, but i would have to go to program files and icontacts file in order to use I contacts. Well, wanna be innovative me thinks to try and move that file so it would replace something. I copied it to the windows appbuttons folder and deleted the regular contacts and nothing happened, then I put it in the start up folder and no luck, then I simply copied it to the windows folder not at the bottom where all of the extra files are. After that I tried to reset it and now all that I get is the bootloader screen. it reads as follows:
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.Olipof
CPLD-8
At the bottom, it shows either USB or Serial depending on if the usb is plugges up.
I tried running the sim unlock again and the dutty rom and both load to 100% but it goes back to the same screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please help and thank you so much.

U need to hold the stylus in the hole longer, untl a message pops up on the page.
If it does not hardreset or help u, do what zeezee told u - flash a new rom.
OK, thank you all for you diligent assistance. I have tried the hard reset and it does the same thing...goes to black for about 2 seconds, then for a very split second goes to a grey screen and flashes loading then back to the bootloader.
I will try a search for the people stuck in bootloader and try flashing a OEM ROM, I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Here is a list of OEM ROMs:http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs
I do not see any Mods here around or somebody yelling (search button is your friend, search the wiki everything is there, bla bla)To having a woman at home change everything.. Thanks..!
Before you try the dangerous MTTY method, you could try refresh a oem rom w/ the SD method
ok, I am flashing an OEM rom now, but what does it mean to do it with the sd method?

From youre sd card (memorycard), look it up in wiki. Moust of us flashaholics keeps oure rom on oure memorycard and just rename the rom/bootsplash/radio or whateva and place it in root then activate bootloader -> flash. This is an alternative for not using usb cable, pc and active sync

ok thanks, but am i correct in understanding that to do that I have to use the phone to access the mem card?
My issue is that the only screen I get is bootloader, no nothing else. I can't even turn it off. I can take the battery out to get a black screen, but any action to try something will take it back to the bootloader screen. But for some reason, it still allows me to flash the ROM, I think. I flash it on my pc and then my phone goes to the grey screen where it shows the % of progress. It reaches 100% and the pc tells me to click finished and I do then it goes back to the bootloader.

yes, just use a card adapter or something to acess youre card (if you cant connect via active sync) then copy the rom over and follow the steps in wiki. Beeing stuck in the bootloader some times aint the worse place to be stuck

I don't mean to argue with you here and you are right about research threads, but honestly it's easy to get caught up in frustration with the amount of information. Some authors are good at documentation and some skip steps along the way or extra links are in the threads.
I just switched over to Gullum's Diamond Rom and was I nervous upgrading "Yes" and did I read much that I could "Yes". Were the instructions to HardSPL, Jump were a little unclear "Yes" so people asking questions are legit to a degree but we shouldn't also be eagar to pounce on...

I agree with some of your remarks. Yes myself and others have jumped down people's throats yelling, "Search." One thing you have to remember though this is a developers forum, not a novice forum to help people making there phone look "cool."
Going into flashing / upgrading / modifying, you have to have a little bit of knowledge or time using Windows Mobile / Windows in General devices and machines.
Usually reading some background information can be a world a difference before jumping into this sort of thing.
I found the problem to stuck in bootloader. Thanks to all who have posted threads.

On the Kaiser note, I found after further studying of some threads, a solution to my issue where I was stuck in bootloader. I think this will apply to anyone that is stuck in bootloader with the usb/serial showing at the bottom and when they try to flash a new rom is goes to 100%, but the are still stuck on the boot screen.
After reading more threads, it appeared that there was some sort of disconnect between the usb and the phone. Since my PC was stating that it was successfully completing the flash, that shows that it was not getting any type of error from the phone. After reading a thread I simply blew in my tilt usb port and used my stylus to try to straighten it out as one of your post state to ensure the usb connection is straightor it may give mtty an issue.
Once I messed with my USB port, the phone came back to life and everything was fine. Everything was rebooted and all my info was lost however. I was even able to successfully flash a new ROM.
In closing, if anyone is stuck in bootloader mode and their flash goes to 100% and doesn't fix their issue, tell them to clean and straighten their usb connection.

so i thought it'd be a easy thing to do but i guess not.
first i couldn't get RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_1_90_3.zip to work so i used SSPLManual to get it to go, now no matter what i do it gets to 0% and the pocket pc locks up. im using a HTC Touch Pro with Sprint. the device says Upgrade ROM code error please try again. ms activesync says that it cannot recognize the device or something, and the hardspl program says error 262. ive been searching and reading for an hour and a half and cant figure it out. i really need my device to work by like, tomorrow, so please help me out guys :\
Try going to bootloader mode and flashing the stock ROM that came with it.
i held down the power and volume down buttons and reset it but it just goes to the tri colored screen everytime. there has to be something im just completely missing. to reset to stock rom i would just put the rom on a memory card or how ever the website instructions say to do it and put it in the phone and restart or how does that work
Exactly (if you want to flash the memory card way). Or you can simply connect the device through activesync when in bootloader and flash the stock ROM (download it if you don't already have it).

Isn't the Sprint CDMA? The GSM HardSPL won't work. From the bootloader screen flash it with an OEM Sprint ROM. Good luck
Welcome! Almost everyone has done it. Bad flash and suddenly your $400 device is a paper weight! Woaaaaaah! Even I have to admit I have done it, many times. But there is hope! Read on.
It is not easy to brick a device if you actually read and follow all of the steps and guidelines before a flash. In fact, not many things can go wrong unless a USB cables disconnects during a flash, your PC crashes in the middle of a flash, or you flash a corrupt image file to your device. Statistically, most of the time people only think their device is "bricked" when actually it's not.
There are currently three methods you can use depending of the severity of the "bricking". The first method will unbrick 50% of all Maples that have simply "locked up" and won't reboot properly. The second method will unbrick 95% of all Maples that encountered flashing problems or flash failures.
** Please perform these steps and methods at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage you cause your device using this guide.
If you're new to the Maple or SmartPhones in general, please take the time to read the the forums for valuable info before you post or try any of these steps.
But, before I even get into unbricking, if your phone is in fact working right now, I highly recommend you flash HardSPL by JockyW to avoid even having to follow these steps anytime in the future. The steps and info for HardSPL and JumpSPL can be found in this thread by jockyw2001.
HardSPL basically flashes your phone with an "unlocked" security partition so all security checks are bypassed when you try to flash a cooked ROM or a ROM designed for another variation of the Maple such as HTC (SNAP), TMO Dash3G, etc. Makes life much easier when trying different ROMS or cooking and testing your own! Thanks to jockyw2001!!
Ok, so onto the fun stuff...
Flashing:
First a bit of background and info on the different types of ROM images. There are a few different types of ROMS. Carrier released "signed" ROMS, carrier "signed" TEST ROMS, and custom "unsigned" cooked ROMS. The first two are usually released by the carrier (HTC, TMO, AT&T, VOD, etc.). These carrier "signed" ROMS can be flashed anytime without any modifications to the bootloader, SPL, or the device itself. The device already has security checks and certificates in place to check the ROM you are trying to flash to make sure it is official. They do this to avoid users from sending back their "bricked" devices after a failed flash or just user error. This applies to TEST ROMS as well however, TEST ROMS are for just that, TESTING. They usually have an expiration date or "timebomb" applied when the testing period has expired. Cooked ROMS, on the other hand, require unlocking the security checks of the bootloader (SPL) in order to flash successfully. This clarify, this method has several names and is also called CID unlocking, JumpSPL/SSPL (temporarily bypass security checks), HardSPL (permanently bypass security checks), and CID bypassing. Here are the steps to a happy user and a successful flash:
Remove your SD Card
If your device is already hardSPL, proceed to step 10
If using JumpSPL, boot your device up to your homescreen
Download and unzip the ROM package file
If flashing a custom cooked ROM, run auto.bat, or auto_1.17.bat, or auto_1.19.bat (depending on your SPL version)
Follow the prompts in the DOS window
Hit "continue" (trackball button) on your phone, screen will turn black
Run RomUpdateUtility.exe (if it doesn't run via the script)
The flash will take about 5 minutes
If your device is already HardSPL, simply run RomUpdateUtility.exe and follow the prompts
Upon first boot, it will seem frozen for a few minutes, maybe even go black. This is NORMAL!
Enjoy!
Unbricking:
Your phone won't boot... Either it's locked up and simply stopped booting or you flashed your phone and it won't boot. What do you do??
Method 1: Assuming you didn't get "bricked" from a flash problem, the first and easiest method for "unbricking" your device is (this will erase ALL data on your device):
(This method works for 50% of supposedly "bricked" devices)
Remove your SIM and SD card
Remove and reinsert your battery
While holding the volume UP key, press the power button
Continue holding the volume UP key until a black screen appears saying "This operation will delete all your..."
Press "'send"' to restore to hard reset your phone
Let the phone cold boot and restore
That didn't work!! . This next method will reflash your phone to the factory ROM.
Method 2: Second way to the path of unbricking is:
(This method will unbrick 95% of all Maples)
Get a hold of your Shipped ROM. You can find these ROMS either on HTC's site (with a valid serial #), TMO's site (http://www.t-mobile.com/wmupgrade/ with a valid IMEI), or right here at XDA Developers (search for it).
Download one of the factory ROMS and unpack it. **Remember, if your phone is a TMO Dash3G, you MUST use a TMO Dash3G ROM. If your phone is HTC Branded, you MUST use an HTC ROM, etc., etc., etc...
Remove the SD card if one is inserted in the phone
Remove the battery from your phone for a few seconds. I found this step to be essential to reset the device. Put the battery back in.
While holding volume DOWN button, press the power button. The phone will enter "bootloader" mode and you will see a tricolor bootscreen.
While in this mode, plug in your USB cable and you will hear the "ba-bing" USB sounds as the device connects
Unpack the ROM package you just downloaded and run RomUpdateUtility.exe. Follow the steps, check the appropriate boxes, and start the flash
Assuming all goes well, your phone will flash to the factory ROM and you can then troubleshoot what went wrong the first time that bricked your phone.
Method 3: The "goldcard" final method is a bit more intensive so follow closely:
(This method will unbrick 99% of all Maples regardless of branding)
Get a cup of coffee or tea
You will need a working Donor HTC device with a microSD slot and a microSD card that is smaller than 1GB (will be formatted) to create "goldcard" image using QMAT tools as described below
You will need QMAT. Get it from http://revskills.de/index.html.
Go to the Download Link and download the latest version and unpack QMAT
Have some coffee
Use a SD card reader in your PC to access the SD card through Windows. Format the SD card with FAT32.
* Insert the SD card into the donor HTC device and connect the USB cable. If you unchecked "Allow USB Connections" in Activesync in an earlier step, make sure you recheck it so that you can establish a full USB sync connection to the HTC device.
Open QMAT and go to the "Hardware Forecsics" (version 5.04 and below) or "Calculators/Generators" (version 5.05 and up) menu and select "Generate HTC Goldcard"
In "Select device key:" select the Maple
You will need the serial number from the SD card so click the "Get SD Card Serial from WINCE Device" button
Once the Serial number appears in the box, click the "Save Goldcard Image to WINCE SD" button below
If no errors pop up and all goes well, proceed to these next steps
If you get an error or a popup saying "Goldcard for newer devices isn't implemented in newer devices", you must buy and register the software. Believe me, it's worth the small amount of $ you will spend to bring your expensive device back to life!
Now remove the SD card with the newly written Goldcard image from the Donor HTC device
Insert the SD card back into your PC using the microSD card reader adapter. Browse to the drive letter assigned to it. You will see no files on the SD card, this is normal.
(If, for some reason your PC sees the SD card as unformatted, something went wrong. Remove it and reinsert it into the Donor HTC device. The device should see the card as unformatted and ask you to format it, say yes. Now go back to the "* Insert the SD card into the donor HTC device" step above and repeat the steps)
Unpack your HTC, T-Mobile, or other factory ROM and copy RUU_Signed.nbh to the SD card. Once it had finished copying, rename the file to MAPLIMG.nbh. Remove the SD card from the PC.
Make sure the Maple is off and insert the SD card
Enter bootloader mode as mentioned earlier (hold the volume down button while pressing the power button)
You will see a gray screen that says "loading". It will then find the MAPLIMG.nbh file and ask if you would like to start the update process. Follow the instructions and let the phone flash.
You can also do the update using the Rom Update Utility with the USB cable if you like
It will take 10 mins but your phone should boot fine and be back in action!
QMAT is a VERY powerful tool written by viperbjk that allows for full low level manipulation of HTC and WINCE tasks. Read all about it here http://revskills.de/index.html.

Saw this in the main thread. Is it possible to get the signed stock rom for an S511 from this?
New to the winmo modding thing, so excuse me if I'm an idiot.
No signed ROM available at this time.
Kind of figured as much. So, I guess the next question is, once you have HardSPL applied, if the rom flash fails, can you recover with any rom?
I want to load 6.5, I'm a bit apprehensive though, because the 6.1 update for the Ace locked up mid-flash, and bricked the phone. My company's IT department is...sluggish when it comes to replacing dead phones.
No, you can only recover with a signed ROM intended for the device. Not a cooked ROM.

hi, can you tell me how you managed to get the shipped signed rom? i am scratching my head and pulling my hairs over this. thanks alot!
my bro helped me to flash the hspl by jock the other day, however, he failed to notice it was only for willow snap s511 and not for maple. (confusion btwn the htc SNAPS) now what i have is a only phone that keeps rebooting at 'smart mobility' and then resets itself back to the same screen after showing some red codes at the bottom right.
I have tried your unbricking method 1,2 but I cant find a donor so no go for 3. I have done a hard reset but to no avail and am able to bootload. below are the details. is there a way to rescue it? really appreciate any help rendered. i did not managed to find a shipped rom but i heard from gawain that you can flash a rom from sdcard? my set is htc snap s526 from singapore though. =(

I can't believe how complicated this has turned out to be.
I've read and re-read the posts, and other posts to be sure. I've even flashed a MotoQ before.
I don't know if it's Verizon or what, but my Ozone will only boot up to the HTC loading image and thats it.
I can get into bootloader and it looks like the HARDSDL is installed, and I even can start the ROM Utility, but it just shows 0% forever and then errors out about communication problem.
I'm so frustrated.

Unbricking HTC snap (Sprint)
Hi can you give step by step instructions on how to unbrick a HTC Snap, I never flashed anything on it. but recently it started acting weird and so i turned it off and turned it back on, but when i powered it on it came up to the screen where it just says "htc Snap" and its stuck there
help!
*UPDATE* I found out that this issue is addressed by HTC with a hotfix I will try that and if it doesnt work come back here
I think I've bricked my Snap as well after a failed ROM update (flashing stopped at around 98%). The phone stays on the HTC logo screen and doesn't continue with the boot. I'm able to put it on bootloader mode but when running the ROM update it always stays at 0%. The Sprint "hotfix" doesn't take care of this either. When I run the ROM update utility there is no Image Version being reported by the phone at all. I've also tried to update using the miniSD card but all I get is "No image file found".
Anyone had any experience/luck taking a phone in this state into the Sprint (or whichever) store and ask them to fix/reflash it?

I have the exact same problem! Still didn't find the answer.
i have a bricked telus snap s510, when attempting to flash the hardSPL i accidently flashed the 3V0 rom instead and bricked it. anyone know how i can unbrick it? i tried methods 1, 2 & 3 and none of them work. the gold card method just sits at loading... after entering bootloader.
tried hard reset, and when phone is turned on normally it just sits at the smart mobility screen. any suggestions on what to do?
