come on man.... dont open a new thread for this.....
do some reading, searching...
essentially the mytouch and the g1 are the same phone. and it has nothing to do with the phone, its the memory card that you are partitioning.
download Gparted live and run that, partition your memory card and then...
do some more reading!!!!!

So I decided to make this small guide, on how to partitioning your sd card with paragon partition manager… There is many different ways, including a script an xda forum member created, and ubuntu as well.. But I assume paragon partition manager might be the best for all people who don’t know how to use Linux very much..
i wrote it on my blog, if is considered spam than illtry to put the images content directly in the post
http://nitropr.us/web/2009/05/08/format-sd-card-with-paragon-partition-manager/
hope it helps some one.. i know i know there is MANY ways for this.. but well sicne paragon question keep popping up and did not see a small how to with images for new users so hope it helps least 1 person
Thanks! That will be useful for many... this should be sticky along with the sapphire/magic port (after someone starts a new thread for the newer builds. 600 pages!) Or at least a wrap stick (a thread that contains many highly used threads like in the developement and hacking section under the main thread) would be useful.
i think this is the easiest way. I did this to my card and took only a few min. def the way to go.
its a good guide, but i have a question everytime i try to format this way in paragon it says cannot create partition because all primary slots are taken, it says this when i try to resize or create new. any ideas?
Ok I resized my card using paragon my fat32 is 5gb and my EXT2 is 1.5gb. I went and tried to follow these instructions http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Haykuro_Apps_to_SD and for some reason I am not seeing the system/xbin/busybox folder.

A few things here:
1. Unless you're planning on downloading every app ever made, you're never going to need a ext2 partition larger than 500mb, and even that is a LOT. I tried to fill my partition and managed to squeeze over 300 apps on there before I ran out of room...then I had to painfully uninstall them all cause I didnt feel like reformatting/reflashing/restoring.
2. Make sure you're using the right version of apps-to-sd. Haykuro's latest builds can be found here. The apps-to-sd versions are linked at the very top of the page.
3. The directories you're looking for are NOT on the sd card. They are only visible on the phone through adb. If you're not familiar with adb, do a quick forum search on how to set it up.

Merry Christmas, get your software here.
My first post here, but I have been visiting these forums for a long time.
I will try this approach and let's see how I do.
Thanks for posting!
I've taken a look around and haven't found anyway to erase the ext2 partition of the memory card from the phone itself just wondering if its a possability. I thought the thread on how to partition from the memory card might shed some light but if there was the answer there I missed it.
thx
try this:

Not trying to be an asshole, just sayin search. There is a thread or two on this already, i would find it if i wasnt so lazy myself lol. I know you can do it though so best of luck.
I already sent him the link in my first post. =]
sorry if im being ignorant with this post guys!
im looking for a tutorial on how to partition my sd card for my magic. i know how to do a basic partition but not ext2/3 etc etc.
i noticed alot of roms lately require this to work properly. also for compcache and apps2sd and stuff.
if anybody could help id appreciate it. thanks
download paragon partition manager 9.
its smooth sailing from there
another question - do i format the sd before or after the rom flash? i format the sd through my rav recovery then windows does not recognise it????
thanks for the help
anybody? no? come on!
if you have Amon_Ra's recovery image on your phone, you can do the partitioning with one click, and it will do fat32+ext2+swap for you.
Start asking your questions in the right sub-forum (Q&A) (Theme) or even in (General), or i will be forced to ban you for 3 days or till you learn.
Thanks
Thread Trashed!!
Probably the wrong place to ask this, but can't post to the TB Dev forum just yet. I'm trying to figure out how to mount sd-ext on my TB, but currently haven't figured out where to go to figure it out. I saw there was the script that Firerat had made for CM5, and I'm not sure if that will help create my own script possibly, but figured I would ask here first to see if anyone has already created a solution for this.
Thanks!

At a minimum, you should say which ROM you're running, and how you've partitioned your SD card.
Sorry about that. Okay, currently using das-BAMF 1.6.2 with the included kernel. I have partitioned it with 512MB ext and 32MB swap.

I feel your pain.
I can’t answer your question. But how did you partition your SD card: manually, rom manager, or with software such as minitool partition wizard?
I partitioned it from Recovery. Doing it from ROM Manager caused it to hang. It would reboot into Recovery and try to start the partition process but nothing happened. First time I ever tried I had NO idea how long I should have expected it to run, but I figured out after 3 hours that this was abnormal. lol.
Doing it from Recovery though even has more options for sizes, and only will take about 4-5 min on the microSDHC that comes with it. I just found it odd that partitioning it from Recovery directly resulted differently since that's where ROM Manager tries to partition as well. Clearly the process from ROM Manager =/= the process from Recovery.
Hi,
Im kinda new to the whole rooting-business, especially the partition stuff.
Ive tried and searched everywhere after a solution to my problem, but I was sent here, to the experts.
I have a rooted HTC Desire 2.3 with Cyanogenmod 7.1
My problem is that nothing happens when I press "Partition SD-card".
I have tried in both RomManager and in recovery. It says "done!" and all, but when I check my space, nothing has changed. I still have only 148MB. Have tried multiple times.
The GParted stuff seems kinda scary, so I want to avoid that. I have also tried the "toggle signature" thingie.
And please, if you have an answer, please take me for a noob, because I am
Thank you
Hi ToreBarsk,
If both method display "done" your card was correctly partitioned.
But the 148Mo was the internal memory and can't be enlarged (except by flashing custom alpharev patition table but it's too complicated and dangerous if you'r new in the flashing world).
Since few month (years ?) Cyanogen ROM no longer contains A2SD. But S2E (Simple2ext) can help you (search S2E on Google Play Store).
For more details go to the Desire Android Development section all is explained : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=628

Aaaaah! I wanna kiss your feet!
I have searched, read and worked my ass off for 5 hours straight trying to solve this. Just one simple app solved it all.
I have all the memory in the world!
Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Ha ha ha you're welcome guy .
I've got this fu*** memory problem with my old Desire and I've spent a lot of time to solve this.
And now ?
I've just changed my Desire for a Sensation with 1,2Go of internal memory for apps ha ha ha ^^.
See you on XDA .
