Error 262 when trying a Radio or ROM upgrade - General Questions and Answers

Hi there guys .
I've been searching and searching, and trying and trying, but I can't seem to get past this Error [262] when I'm trying to upgrade my ROM or Radio (HTC Diamond).
What I'm doing is this basically:
I downloaded DiamonCustomRUU.exe, put it in a folder with the radio/rom (say Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05.nbh), I connect my HTC Diamond to my pc via usb, activesync is on, I start up the RUU, go through all the steps, then at the end when the update 'starts', my phone goes off, starts up in the 4 coloured screen, activesync stops, then my phonescreen turns grey with the progress bar (stuck at 0%), and on my laptop there's a progress bar as well. It does nothing, and after about 5 minutes, I get the Error [262].
I reinstalled Activesync, but no changes. I installed HardSPLL though. I tried another USB-port, doing it without my firewall on (someone suggested it, yes I'm desperate)... I have no idea where to go from here.
Can anyone help? (sorry if this is the wrong section..)
Love

Had the normal (signed)SPL instead of the hardSPL. Can be locked

problem with flashing under WM6...

Hi everybody,
i have flashed the WM6 underground edition a couple of weeks back. Now i wanted to downgrade to WM5, but without success. I am using IPL/SPL 2.21. After starting the ruu upgrade software the Wizard switches to boot mode. So far so good.... But then nothing happens anymore and after a minute or so the software quits with error 260.
Any hints what to do ??
I have the newest Activesync installed.. I even cannot flash any other Wm6 rom.
Any help would really be appreciated !!!!
Best regards
Batman08
When you reboot your phone, post exactly what version IPL and SPL you see.
Didn't someone once post that there was a difference in USB cables....Grasping at straws, but just a thought!
Hmmm... do you hear the active sync connection bell ring when it reboots into bootloader? At the bottom of the screen, do you see the letters USB near the left hardkey?
Might try another PC, or even a different USB port on the same machine. Sounds like the USB is acting up.
After the phone reboots i can see IPL/SPL 2.11.
I can hear three bell rings with the same low frequency. To
me that is not correct as the connection bell ring should be two tones ?
I can see "USB" on the left side of the Wizard's screen.
I also tried different cables, but no success.
I am using WIN XP with SP2. Upgrading worked flawless
some month back with WM5.
The only thing i had to change was ActiveSync 4.5 as WM6 is only
supported there.
Any hint ???

ERROR [248~260] : UPDATE ERROR
This error occurs when there is an “open port error” before upgrading the CE ROM image.
Solution: You can reset the device and run RUU again. If you still encounter an “OPEN PORT ERROR” again, reset your computer and try again.
This is taken from the redme inside the RUU
Good Luck
Put the phone into bootloader mode, kill WCESCOMM.exe from process list, attach Wizard, let it install driver, open up RUU and (hopefully) flash.
Also make sure you pull out your SD card while you try to flash your phone.

You made my day !!!!!!!! it worked flawless.... Thanks a lot !

Error [260] Connection

So I am trying to play with my new tilt for the first time, and after lots of reading I began to try. I am starting with POF's Hard Spl package, and I am stuck with that. I followed all of the instructions precisely, but when I get to the RUU screen, it says to connect PDA phone to the USB cable, and establish an Active Sync connection. Well it won't establish an ActiveSync connection now...and if I just check the box, I get the ERROR [260] Connection message, and it says to hit esc to finish. Then the phone is just stuck on the tricolor screen, and only thing I can do is reset.
So....now what? I have tried to google and xda search this problem, I saw one person with the same problem, but then posted back a little while later saying he resolved the issue, but didn't say how...
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Michael

Yes. Use another computer.. or disable your firewall or de-activate your AntiVirus program. You have some sort of conflict in the drivers. It happened to me and the only it worked for me is when I switched to another PC to do the upload.
I will have to try it out on my laptop when I get up...but I have no firewall enabled, and no anti-virus running. But if this is a driver issue, then I don't see how those 2 things would come into play?
So, switching to my laptop worked, thank you for that. I have sucessfully installed Dutty's v3 rom, but now it seems my battery depletion is on a downward spiral. It has gone down 10% in less than 10 mins, and it is just sitting on the table, nothing running.
Any ideas on that?
Also is there anything else after the rom install that I should add/do? I
have seen a few different posts about radios...not sure will keep looking lol...
Thanks again,
Michael
I had the Error [260] Connection issue at some point in the beginning of flash process.
Changing to a different usb-port in my laptop solved it to me.

Hard_SPL

All,
Read the forums and done all the searches but struggling. Download the Kaiser-HardSPL exe and ran it on my PC (using XP). Get the tricolor and USB screen but then it tells me to disconnect and reconnect USB, but it never goes green again so consequently it doesn't go any further. I've reset the Kaiser and tried again but no joy. Thanks in advance
Read carefully, when you're in the tri-color screen and unplug/plug your device, the activesync icon shouldn't be green cause it is not able to detect your device as a WM one.
Gray is the way to go

Yes, I saw that. The icon has gone grey on my desktop. The next step though says connect the PDA back again via usb and establish a connection. How do you know if it has established. I clicked ok anyway ran the program but it can't read the existing rom info off my kaiser and comes back with a connection error
If i'm correct you should wait for a minute or two to let the ActiveSync connect to your Kaiser. After that it should be good to go further..
Be sure that the ActiveSync icon on your computer desktop is green at that stage..

On your screen, at the bottom, it should say USB.
Once you see that you are ready to install the HardSPL
OK guys success. I think what threw me was the activesync staying grey during flashing but found a nice vid on youtube which helped. Many thanks

Lite ROM for Zune-like 8125?

I have an 8125 laying around that I'd like to turn into a ZuneHD type device..
No phone, no text message, no mms, no email, etc..
Keep WiFi, PIE, games, media player, etc..
Is there a good ROM of choice for this?
Thanks
-Matthew
Here, try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501941
When I try to flash a rom:
when the phone resets to get to the 3-color boot screen, my computer loses sync with it and the RUU program locks up.. How do you keep your computer connected so it doesn't think it has been unplugged?
Even though it is still plugged in and I see USB over the left softkey, when I restart RUU, it then locks up when it is trying to scan my phone (it doesn't see it I guess)..
I'm on Vista Ultimate 64..
How do I get around this?
Thanks
-Matthew
I finally just pulled out my old XP machine from the attic.. Much quicker, nothing in Vista worked..
However, even after the RUU ran, the phone booted right back into the old OS..
?
EDIT: got it!
Now to put that 4G miniSD card in and fill it with tunes..
Is there a way to totally disable the phone functions altogether? Right now it boots into the dialer saying 'no SIM card'.. I would rather have it go straight to the WM6.5 today screen..

[Q] HTC Mogul 6800 stuck on three-colored screen?! Help?!

I was updating my phone from windows mobile 6.1 to one of Ryan Moguls 6.5 updates today. Everything worked alright, it turned on, loaded everything, but only stayed on for about a minute. After soft resetting it a few times it is now stuck on the three colored screen. I've tried hard resetting it (the prompt comes up, I hit yes), but then it just goes back to the same three colored screen. The screen says:
TITA100
SPL-1.2.Olipro
& then at the bottom it says Serial.
I've tried putting wm 6.1 back on it, but I keep getting error 290.
I would REALLY love some help!
I managed to use the microSD method to get windows 6.5 & the needed radio for it. My problem now is that it is stuck in a reboot loop. It'll stay on for about a minute and then reset. I figure it is because I need olipro 2.40, but i have a 64-bit computer that won't support it. Any suggestions?
