MOD EDIT
I just got this on twitter I am excited too late to try it now but will try it tom, anyone tried it? I want to put the hero rom on my mytouch
about time lol thanks guys for the rooting
When it says power+camera, am I correct in assuming it's just looking for fastboot?
Trying it now. I'll tell you guys how it goes in a couple of minutes. Congrats to all of those who helped root the myTouch 3g
Yeah. Fastboot was all it was lookin' for. It's flashin' for me.q

Good job Amon + Haykuro. Im glad to see this. I can imagine with your recovery we can get a full root + install + sd card prep + hero in about 20 - 25 steps. <--no sarcasm intended.
MOD EDIT
everything went smooth up to flashing the radio. . .
C:\Android\tools>fastboot flash radio radio.img
sending 'radio' (21504 KB)... OKAY
writing 'radio'... INFOsignature checking...
FAILED (remote: signature verify fail)
This is now where I sit.
Unfortunately, when I download and try to unzip the SAPPIMGVODAPHONE file from FileDropper, I receive an error message saying the file is "Corrupt or missing". I am running Windows XP Professional Edition. Am I doing something wrong? Sorry for the newbie question.

The only thing you want to unzip is the givemeroot.zip file to extract the radio.img and recovery.img.
Taken from step 8
Rename the “spl-signed.zip” file to “update.zip”, and rename "sappimg_vodaphone.zip" file to "SAPPIMG.zip"
So all you want to do with the sappimg_vodaphone.zip is rename it to sappimg.zip
Hope this helps
Eric

You don't want to unzip it (although you should still be able to).
rename "sappimg_vodaphone.zip" file to "SAPPIMG.zip"
If you aren't seeing anything in it, I'd probably redownload.

So Milenko (btw have you seen the trailer for Big Money Rustlas) have you had any more success in flashing the radio.img or are you still getting the same error message?

Same error. I'm rewalking the steps (positive I followed 'em to a T, but doing it anyway). I'll let ya know.
Thanks. Im half tempted to flash as well and see what errors it gives me but will wait to see if anyone has successfully completes it.
One thing I noticed. . . Haykuro had us download "7. Download this recovery image: http://rapidshare.com/files/26263536...-RAv1.2.0H.img". Notice the H. That's for the 32A boards, pretty sure we want the G for the 32B boards.

I'm quite sure that I did both of them without any problems. The splash screen shows for a very long time until the animated boot screen takes over.

what you on about? don't tell me to search! i asked a question so if you didn't wanna answer just don't post. we don't need people like that on here. if you help then help.............. hate people like that. i help many people both on msn and in forum. i never tell anyone to do anything as its their choice.

EDIT: There should be 5 of them now. I can convert them for you if you supply me the image through a link or something.

Did try the tutorial that was linked a few posts up but all i got was wrong digest when i tried to flash it.
Any ideas ?
i've already flashad splash1 but its not possible to flash splash2 atm. Atleast not on the htc branded Saphire

Maybe I didn't flash the splash2 afterall. Because I get the same error. Though the second splash image belongs to the ROM, so you should be able to alter that too. Let me investigate!

Mine lasts until it finishes booting... Let me investigate your problem though...
Did you resign it after you altered it? Also resign every apk inside it?
EDIT: Yeah, every thread that says something about No digest or wrong digest states that means the package hasn't been signed correctly. You have to sign every apk packages inside the apk file, and the apk file itself.

How do i fix this?
I need to flash my phone back to stock because of a root failure, and the sbf.droid-developers.org site is down.
Dows anyone have the VRZ_XT926_9.8.1Q-94-1_CFC.xml.zip file from that site that they could upload onto another mirror? I have scoured the webz for the file and have come up empty.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately, the last post in the thread you have linked to is from the same day that the newest release went out. Either way, I'm looking for the specific Version that I posted in the thread. The 1.34 utility does not have this version. I have tried using the Wayback Machine and I have also scoured many different search engines, but the only place it seems to have this file is the SBF droid developers site.

So the usual things has happened.. I have looked many different places, forums, and posts and the closest thing I have found was this thread.

1. It will show this if I plug it in to my PC but I cant turn on the device by its self.
"AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)

Battery Low
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Flash Failure"
2. It doesnt charge.. I dont think
3. When I hold the Vol- and PWR for 10 ten then add the Vol+ it sometimes will go to the bootloader and then it will boot.
Can I fix this to not show this message every time?
Thanks for your time

I think so. I tried to flash this firmware using RSD Lite v6.16..
VZW_XT907_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml
But when i go to fastboot and start to flash that firmware it gives me two errors the first one is on the phone stating.
Also does the fact the my phone in running on 4.4.2 verison 182.46.15 matter at all?
"downgraded security version
update gpt_main version failed
preflash validation failed for GPT"
and the second one is RSD starting
"Failed flashing process. 3/21 flash partition "gpt.bin" -> Phone returned FAIL."
Then I simply hold all three of my buttons on the phone and boot normally and it works.. I just need to get rid of that message.
Thanks for helping

edit the xml file in the firmware and completely remove the line containing "gpt".
im assuming you already removed the "getvar" line because it didnt throw an error, if you didnt remove those too.
you can also remove the "erase userdata" line so it wont wipe all your data off.
after editing, save and run rsd again.
fyi, fastboot is not the same as rsd, but rsd should solve the problem just the same.

im about to go to bed, but we need to backup a bit.
did i miss where you said you have a xt907?
i just noticed thats the firmware you are trying to flash, but this is a xt925/926 forum.
i can still help you, either way, but you should try to post in the correct forum in the future to avoid confusion and flashing something wrong.
if your phone is locked, you will need the most recent firmware. then you can make the adjustments i suggested and it will work fine.
worst that would have happened by flashing the correct, but older version, is soft brick. annoying but totally fixable.
flashing the wrong phones software is generally not fixable though.

Again I want to thank you for your help because its really.. helpful? Ha.
Anyway things are making sense now. I know I have the xt926 and its running 182.46.15 and its 4.4.2. So instead of flashing the wrong phone I flashed this firmware
VZW_XT926_4.4.2-KDA20.62-10.1_CFC_1FF.xml
which it the firmware for 182.46.10. I then did what you told me to do earlier on getting rid of the line containing "gpt" and the line "getvar". Now im getting new errors starting.
On RSD:
"6/19 flash tz "tz.mbn"
On PHONE:
"downgraded security version

So yea... New problems.

That's a lower version. Unless you unlocked your bootloader, which it appears you haven't, you cannot downgrade from 182.46.15. If you didn't unlock your bootloader (which I'm assuming because in your first post, you showed that the status said "locked" in fastboot mode), then you have no way to root, unlock the bootloader nor downgrade. You can only reflash the latest which is 182.46.15.

ok, i was tired and forgot about the "tz".
to avoid any further confusion, download the firmware from here and replace the xml file with this one. i already edited it. then flash again.
now that we have all the facts straight, and files in line, it should go fine this time.
Wow! thank you for making it super easy for me! Alrightly so everything flashed perfectly and it passed this time! I understand that since the new update 182.46.15 with a locked bootloader that I cannot root or unlock the bootloader. However every time I boot my phone up, it still keeps giving my warnings in the bootloader. After doing the flash I have a new bootloader failure that gives the error of.
"Fastboot Reason: Sticky bit flash_failure."
So I guess my new goal is to get rid of these bootloader errors.. Is this even possible? Thanks Again!

np! happy to help
Well, I bricked my phone because I'm assuming I made a change to one of the read-only partitions that gets checked for the OTA update. Phone is bricked. Can't flash anything right now. Returned to LOCKED status. Can't even get the unlock code anymore. Also tried the unlock code from my e-mail a few years back. So, that's all out. Can't flash older images with RSD-Lite even after removing the get-var, partition and tz lines from XML. I've heard of people restoring their phones with the exact same Fastboot screen except they had the older bootloader. That's why I suspect I need a stock KitKat image...
It's an XT925 (my spare).

Code:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
10.9B(*) (sha-07671a2, 2014-07-29 12:35:27)
eMMC Info: Size 16GB
Device is LOCKED, Status Code: 0
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
downgraded security version
Update gpt_main version failed
Failed to hab check for gpt_backup: 0x35
failed to load GPT
CID Read Failure
Invalid CID status 0x69
No SP partition found
Fastboot reason: Invalid GPT
usb connected

Thanks! Anyway, at least I ripped the modem partition using "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 of=modem.img" before I bricked it... I managed to do the Fido update the first time around. I think that's where I went wrong... I was going to try testing this on another stock KitKat image (which I needed to OTA upgrade to). That's when it died.
I've been waiting forever for this Rogers/Fido KitKat modem file. Never been able to find another stock image to give me the same speeds. Problem is, it's stuck on my SD card. Anyone need this file? Or can test it out for me? Lol.

Sherwood Park? I'm in Spruce Grove. Small world. Follow the thread links, there seems to be a lot of XT925 folks soft-bricking (in some case, hard-bricking) their devices. You should hopefully be able to get back on track.
since you are a FIDO dude, give that gpt , tz a try
Well, successful flashing of the partition and tz so far... Things are looking up!!!
UPDATE: rsd-lite is currently at flashing the system partition... Almost just a few more steps... Thanks very much!!!
I'm also linking your file again. It might be redundant but, it could help someone else!

p.s credit KABALDAN for pointing to the solution , wihtout him I would have spent few more hours trying to troubleshoot the isht lol, and thanks to the good fellows here like Bwen dior, Coincoin, CWGSM3VO...and few others
we may nee a thread stickied with all the OTA we can catch,or just the tz/gpt from them , that may be the solution to the few bricks happening

Yeah, I work on 170st in Edmonton though. Selling car parts of all things (yet have a firm grasp of Linux). Luckily it's dead enough here that I was able to fix my phone. Not a lot of demand for performance car parts in winter.

JB Power Centre?
I'm a TELUS wog myself.
Good stuff in getting your phone fixed. A lot of folks bricking XT925's lately.

Me too I'm a Lab Engineer in the Optik TV Lab. Allows me a lot of flexibility.
I was just about to trash my phone or buy another motherboard but hbenz2008 saved my day (and a lot of cash!)
THANKS! flashing the tz and partition revived my phone in a snap! Just flash it and reboot!
(I feel absolutely newbie right now)
So as you might be aware there's been a recall for most nVidia Shield tablets.
I had a rooted tablet and was unable to go through their requirements without updating to the lastest OTA 5.1.
I tried updating and it failed
I factory reset it and the update still failed
I logged in with fastboot and was able to update the stock recovery and boot images but system failed with the error
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
sending 'system' (1219356 KB)...
FAILED (remote: Insufficient memory.)
finished. total time: 0.023s
So I thought well maybe if I format the partition that will allow me to flash the system.img. Nope.
And now it's bricked. Help!
Have you tried just flashing twrp and just flash stock ROM from there?
Same here
Oy...
anybody found a fix?

From what I gather the fix is to download and flash full OTA image (not sure where you get it) but I called nVidia and did the recall over the phone so I stopped trying.
