im new here ;-)
i have the dopod 818 pro.
how can i know if my device is g3 or g4???
what does it mean any way???
my device version is:
IPL:1.0
SPL:1.00.0000
GSM:01.13.20
OS:10.13.21
what upgrade can i use???

Because you can easily downgrade and/or CID unlock a G3, but not a G4.
There is no way to CID unlock a G4 prophet.

Can i check with you. Is it true that before downgrading a G3, I have to CID unlock it first? Upgrading dun need to unlock right?

Yes, you are right.
I have a G4 prophet and a G3 Wizard. I did both SIM and CID unlock with the G3 wizard the second day after I got it. So, now I can freely install any ROM (shipped or customized) on it without any issue, no matter upgrade or downgrade, and no need to use no-vendor-id utility.
As for my G4 prophet, I can only upgrade (in terms of IPL and SPL version) it and I have to use no-vendor-id RUU utility to do this, since basically, the no-vendor-id utility will by pass the IPL version checking, after I tried several different ROMs, my IPL still stay the same. Since you can not downgrade it, everytime when you want to try a new ROM, it is tough decision, it is a one-way road....

How do you know if it's a G3 or G4???

wen u power on ur device on the boot screen u c sm info. like
IPL 2.00.xxxx
SPL 2.00.xxxx
OS 2.15.13.x
dis is the info to determine whether ur device is G3 or G4.
if
IPL n SPL are like
2.00.0001 or 1.00.0001 den G4
if
2.00 or 1.00 den G3.

Wow! I hope this is a gag post, since coming from someone with over 200 posts I would hope you would have spent at least a few minutes reading.
If this is indeed real then I will say the following
1. GO to the G4 forum
2. Read how to unlock your G4. I have a G3 so I have paid not attention to all that hoopla.
3. Read how to install the ROM in Faria's rather long post about it.
4. Enjoy!

I tried to install on my g4, which is CIDLocked, it went through the install but didnt install the OS, the only thing that sucesfully installed was the extended rom. I then used shelltool to flash the OS, and that worked fine.

do you have a wizard or tytn? just make sure you arent flashing this on your tytn, it wont work...reason im saying this, is because you have TytN written on your sig.

Uh technically, the tytn is the upgrade to the Wizard...
You have a faster processor, and the capability of 3G HSDPA/UTMS data connections.
I think that currently the Wizard has better custom ROM support, although apparently Faria is moving to the Tytn so that might change (and Kyphur has been doing some good work with XDA-Live) but other than that, if I had a money tree I probably would have moved to a 8525 (Cingular Tytn).
Why are you going the opposite way? I am just curious, not trying to bash or anything...

As nobody has posted this information here before: there're some news in the Prophet upgrading scene
IPL/SPL 3.08 update is out (adapted from the official t-mobile Germany AKU3.3 for HTC Charmer, thanks to our friends from 4pda.ru).
Be attended that for the moment there're no downgrading experiences to the AKU2.2!
[edit 1] Some users reported that it definetly works for G3 devices.
So if you upgrade your device to IPL/SPL 3.08 you will possibly not be able to go back to your original IPL/SPL (warranty!). Test it on your own risk!
[edit 2] Some users reported that it works for G3 devices. Details will follow.
Since there're different upgrade IPL/SPL ROM's available you've exactly to know which device you're owned (G3 or G4).
The new radio rom is for both, G3 and G4.
Also a new radio ROM 2.69.21 is available (don't wonder about italian Wizard's update utility). All user experiences are welcome

It is not possible to downgrade ipl/spl at all.
I don't understand the confusion here

does it only work with aku 3.3 roms or it can work with the latest Qtek official rom (aku 2.2)?

There's no question about possibility to downgrade ipl/spl, there's a question about possibility to install an earlier AKU on such upgraded device, for example 220734_NoVID (AKU2.2).

I want to know, too.
If I upgrade to IPL/SPL 3.08, can I install 2.20 QTEK ROM on it?

THX it doesnt work on my G4!!
Now i reburn old OS to bring the system up and running! He enter only the Bootloader.
[edit] i debug now!!
[edit 2] ok both doesnt work on a German S200 G4 (possible -> CID Lock make the problem!! or the firmware writer)
IPL/SPL Update hung at 2% and Radio Update too ... after them i must reburn the 02.61.21 Radio Rom
Note to every body ... dont use this upgrades!
[edit 3] i change now the firmware writer and test again!
[edit 4] ... redandr ... you use the wrong firmware writer! extract with winrar the Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.61.21.exe in a directory. then i extract the nk.nbf file from your rom version ... then i put them over the v2.61.21 version and flash again ... then it works ... now i recompile the update and test ipl/spl update. if i am finish i upload a working version!!!

For me Wizard's update utility worked without problems (for radio rom upgrade), didn't try to change ipl/spl (not necessary for me).

Radio Rom 2.69.21 works fine for me on my Qtek S200 G3... I used the upgrade from the first post... did not try the ipl/spl yet because I am not sure if need it...
so far, radio rom 2.69.21 is very good... I had some problem with 2.47 and 2.61 (phone not ready...)... but with this one, it seems to be ok...

I want to downgrate my s200 to aku2.2 original rom... but i can't do it!! my phone stop at 95% when i'm uprating!!!
I have tried aku2.1 but nothing at all!! stops at 95% to!!!
The only rom who i can install and have 100% Sucessfull is, Fantastic v1.1i Step1!!
I dont know why!!
Can some help-me? please

Maybe hard reset before you do downgrade?
what aku2.1 rom are you using? maybe you should try some official roms instead?

phone stop at 95% when i'm uprading no problem. when stop in 95% you only have to put in bootloader again and install a radio 2.47 , 2.61 or 2.69 and your prophet have a 2.20 again

both roms u mentioned, certainly contain ipl or spl like 2.xx and hence they will not downgrade ( only ipl/spl part) unless ur CID unlocked.
thats why ur flashing hangs at 95%.
U just extract only OS part ( 80040000-OS.nb) from roms and repack in nk.nbf and then flash with RUU.
