Problem with HTC warranty claim - General Topics

I bought my FUZE new back in late December and only after about a month of use got the oil spot problem and my volume button would stick and bring up the volume control over and over basically making the phone unusable. So I got and RMA from HTC repair, sent it in, got it back about a week later but the volume button problem was still there. So I sent it in again and they finally fixed it. Here it is 5 months later, same exact problems come back "phone is still in warranty until 01/2010" so I call RMA center, tell them to submit an RMA with the SAME exact issues as before on my account and I send it in but this time they respond with this:
Diagnosis:
Newton ring (oil spot) indicates excessive pressure to LCD
Button failure
Suggested Repair:
Replace LCD and refurbish
Total Repair Price:
$202.57
What gives?! I call them and they say under the phones new circumstances the warranty is NOT covered so there is the repair charge. My question is how can they repair it the first time at NO cost under warranty and this time say it was excesive use and given that it has the EXACT same problems as before want to charge me for repair?? Am I justified in calling them and complaining?

[QUESTION] ATT Fuze Warranty through HTC

Okay, so my Fuze recently had a random issue where all my back lighting would stop working, including the keyboard/hard buttons/screen. I contacted HTC, sent it in under RMA and had it repaired as per warranty.
Today I received my fuze back and the screen had displaying issues at the bottom, like flickering. So I immediately called HTC again complaining about a NEW issue that occurs directly after receiving it "repaired."
I am upset because it took about 3 weeks to receive my phone back from them the first time. On the phone they said there was nothing they could do but have me send it in AGAIN for a warranty repair.
My question is this: I am a patient person, but I cant be waiting almost 2 months for repairs on my phone that I cant be promised will be fixed forever. Will I be eligible for a replacement if such a problem occurs again? I am afraid that once I receive my phone back for the 2nd time, it might break again and I will be out of warranty and screwed.
If anybody has dealt with HTC warranty, Id like to hear your 2 cents...
THANKS IN ADVANCE
My question would be why are you going through HTC warranty and not ATT?
I used to have a Tilt, I got my tilt upgraded to a fuze through warranty with ATT and the warranty period carried over.
But since then, my 1 year warranty through ATT has expired but my Fuze is still covered under HTC warranty...so I had no choice =/
HTC should keep trying to fix your phone. My *guess* is if it screws up on you again they'll just give you a refurbished one - at some point it won't be worth it to them to attempt repairing the same unit over and over. With any luck at all the next time you get yer phone it will just work properly.....

Same HTC warranty repair covered 1st time but not the 2nd?!

Hello, I know this is a WAY LONG PAST RELEVANT ITEM for you, but I found your thread in my search. I have had similar problems before with HTC AMERICA, but this time they have gone too far, so I am bumping your thread for this occasion, and simply directing you to my current thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002951
I would just like to ask if you would read Post #1 and tell me if the experience overall sounds similar in tone and attitude to the one you describe.
It disgusts me to read of your situation. The one that I am describing currently is for my HTC DESIRE, under warranty, warranty not being honored.
However, YOUR SCENARIO, and i realize it's now 2 years old, sounds more like my FIRST encounter with HTC AMERICA with a brand new HTC HERO, with a wifi receptor problem. (I still had my HTC /T-Mobile Wing and it was picking up WIFI signals perfectly everywhere, in my home, on the street, in cafes... but the new Hero -- no.)
HTC-AMerica diagnosed that indeed it was broken. The phone was just weeks old so I asked "don't i just get a new phone?" They said NO, WE HAVE TO REPAIR IT. So i was out of a phone for several weeks. Then it comes back. No charge, that's great. But same problem. Whatever they did, didn't fix it. I called and said this is ridiculous, they said "send it back, here is new RMA"...
I said "You're kidding right? A brand new phone, you repair it, it didn't fix it, same problem, and you want me to REPAIR IT AGAIN? Isn't it time you just give me a new phone?"
"No, per policy blah blah, we must repair it".... I told them they were nuts, and my warranty was useless, what is their problem, and I was now forced to use my SECONDARY INSURANCE with "SquareTrade.com" ---- They were of course like "whatever"
And SquareTrade paid out the full price of the phone within 48 hours.
That was with the HTC Hero.
I'd almost forgotten about that. because i then bought the HTC Desire, a phenomenal phone... til i had this recent warranty problem.
Anyway, I'm bumping your thread because i intend to make an issue out of this. Any help on your end would be great. (IE case # ect.... but, i total;ly understand you have long since moved on, so, don;t worry about it. Just bumping this is helpful. thank you.

HTC Diamond Warranty Touchscreen repair

Hello guys,
I've had this problem ever since I bought my Diamond last year where every now and then, the touchscreen suddenly becomes misaligned and the phone becomes unusable. Until now, I could always just apply pressure to the screen by rubbing it against my shirt and it got better within 1 or 2 minutes.
However, over the past few days, it's just suddenly gotten a lot worse. The phone's touchscreen suddenly stops responding for a long time, perhaps about an hour (i didnt time it but its bad) and this is a serious problem.
My phone is slightly past warranty and so I don't think HTC will repair it for free. Of course, I'm really regretting not having it repaired during warranty because now they are saying it will cost roughly £90 to get repaired.
My question is, are there any alternative routes I can take to get my phone working properly again? And, if I send my phone to HTC and they send it back unfixed, will they charge me another £90 if I send it back? (the person on the phone was useless at explaining). Also, does HTC still even manufacture Diamonds?
If its out of warranty, and you don't want to spend so much money on it, you can always try to fix it yourself. Digitizers (the piece laid above the screen that detects presses) are pretty cheap on ebay, and I've fixed a few broken phones with them.

Random Screen Shut-Off

Hello Everyone, I am Extremely new to posting on XDA so I am not sure if there is a standard or not. Basically The Problem I am having is that the Screen randomly turns black and does not turn back on unless connected to the charger for about a minute. I know that the phone does not die as both the digitizer and speaker continue to function. I have Tried:
-Software Initialization in SmartSwitch
-Factory Reset in Settings
-Factory Reset through Recovery Menu
-Odin reset Image 5.1.1 and 6.0.1
I also can not turn it into the Samsung Service Center as I already replaced the back of the phone in attempt to reseat the lcd/digitizer cable. If Anyone has any experience or insight into this I would fully Appreciate it. Thank You.

Does your phone function 100% as designed (i.e. are you able to use your phone) while it is turned on or does your phone gets frozen?
Is your phone still under warranty? If your phone is still under warrant call or online chat with support and get a shipping label and send it for repairs. There is no need to inform the support about what happen to your phone before. If support determines that your warranty is void they will provide a quote to repair your phone. Also you can dispute the claim that your warranty is void. If you decide not to repair the phone they will ship it back to you for free. So you have nothing to lose but a lot to gain by send your phone for repairs under warrant.
I observe that many members post questions but seems to bee too busy don't care to provide an update in this forum once the issue is resolved. Hence kindly update us of your progress as it will expand our collective knowledge.
This seems to be a common problem and it a known main board defect. I have a similar issue and I have to send for repair after I return to the US from my vacation.

Okay so I retried updating it without a reset within smartswitch and so far it hasn't turned off. Also If I did want to Ship the Phone, Will they accept warranty if there is a small crack in the bottom right of the back glass. BTW Thanks you for the reply.

In my opinion that should not void warranty (not a water damage - you could always claim that you're phone fell).
As I said if the repairs are not covered under warranty they will give you a ridiculousness high quote to repair it out of warranty and you could decline and they will ship it back to you at no cost to you. So on the downside you have nothing to lose and you will get back your phone as is but on the upside you might get lucky and get it fixed for fee

Update(June 21, 2016)- Samsung Gave a Free Label For UPS 2nd Day Air A.M. The service center they are shipping it to is only about 15 minutes away, but I am just going to utilize the label.

Ok so they had my phone since Friday, but said they received it Monday. I found out today that the back glass did cause it to not be in warranty. Fortunately, they have already sent it back to me and it should be back tomorrow. Hopefully they tried some software trick and it fixed it. Fingers crossed!
Ok so They gave me a free box with some packaging(samsung). Looks like they didn't even touch the phone as it was not factory reset.

Question Screen Dead?

So my wife was using her phone today and then the screen went black. The phone itself seems to be on as I can feel it vibrate when I try to hard reset it, but no display.
Phone has never been dropped and only about 6 months old. Any ideas? I'm scheduled to swing by UbreakIFix it tomorrow for them to take a look since its under warranty.
It be WIA... display failure have been happening with this model.

Ugh. I took it over to the local ubreakifix and they fixed it (and billed samsung) since it was still under warranty. Looks like it would have been $260 if I had to pay for it.
This happened to me back in June. AT&T was quick with a warranty replacement. Fairly well known issue with this model, as blackhawk said.
Exact same thing happened to me yesterday. Phone was fine when I put it on the charger and went to bed. Woke up to no screen. Had to use power button to turn off my alarm. Soft reset it multiple times with no change.
Luckily had a ubreakifix right up the road and they got it replaced in about 3 hours, free of course. My phone is not even 7 months old yet. Told me as soon as I brought it in that it's been a known issue with this model. Smh.
