How would you replaced Cynogen's recovery image permanently? Is it the same way Amon_RA explained in his thread?

Yeah the same way...
it's different because it has a few shell command that very usefull, apps2sd, parted,...etc

sorry, but i have no idea wat to do.
I'm run the image and did a 'repair ext filesystems'
anyone can advise wat am i suppose to do after that?
There's no app2sd option and when i hit 'go to console', my magic just freezes.
am i missing something?
thanks in advance.

@star1977: no don't hit console... you need adb on your computer which is provided by download the sdk..
after you go into recovery wait for 30 seconds thats when adb will pickup the device...
"adb shell"
then the rest of the stuff are explained here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534479 under "formatting your sdcard"

after you do "upgrade_fs" try "apps2sd" or "a2sd" and reboot because sometimes the script doesn't get executed so u have to run it manually...
if those command dont work from recovery, run "a2sd" when you are not in the recovery.

i notice after the 1st time i did apps2sd, my phone memory increases.
so i guess the apps probably went to the sdcard.
Thus i went to try install another app. but it went into the phone memory.
do I have to keep running apps2sd to trf the apps to my sdcard?

I guess so, it should be getting called by the init.rc i don't know why it doesn't get called... i will see if i can fix it, your using my jacheroski port right?

[HOWTO] Manually Flash Koush's ClockworkMod Recovery (If You Are Already Rooted)

1. Find the recovery image you want and MAKE SURE IT IS FOR YOUR PHONE (should say in where you download it what phone it is for).
2. Write down the filename of the recovery image EXACTLY as it is written (i.e. recovery-clockwork-2.5.0.1-heroc.img).
3. Put the recovery image file on the SD card (not in any folders).
4. Download Terminal from the Market if you don't already have it and install it (there are a few different terminals in the Market some have an onscreen keyboard and some don't experiment till you get one, also hold down Menu in some of them to bring up the onscreen keyboard if you don't see it).
5. Open the Terminal program and type the following (with hitting enter at the end of each line).
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/name-of-recovery.img
6. In the above text, replace name-of-recovery.img with the name of your recovery image (make sure the .img is on the end).
7. Phone should pause for a second and then show you a new blank line. Turn it off and back on by holding down Home and Power to ensure it flashed correctly. Done.

[DEV] 09/June v1.8.1.7 - fake-flash by Koush, launching recovery without a PC

THIS WILL NOT WORK ON UNREVOKED ROOT.
paulobrien said:
This morning, Koush and I have been working on / stumbling through getting recovery running on a Evo without using a PC for devices rooted with a test image. The same technique also applies to the Legend and Desire. Presenting...
fake-flash!
Fake-flash using a similar concept to the original root method, it launches a recovery image from the test image recovery, but instead of pushing the files from a PC, the files are extracted from an update.zip on the SD card.
Click to collapse
You can now download and install the recovery via ROM Manager! It's a free app on the Market. Buy the premium version to support my work!
ROM Manager will ALSO install the recovery update.zip to /sdcard/update.zip. So if you ever hose your installation, simply start up in test/stock recovery mode, and navigate to apply sdcard:update.zip! And you'll be in ClockworkMod recovery!
Preparation
Download the fake-flash update zip from one of the links below
Copy the update.zip to the root of your SD card (the name MUST remain as update.zip)
When you want to launch the recovery image
Turn on your device with 'volume down' pressed and select 'Recovery'
When the exclamation mark appears, press and hold 'volume up' then press 'power'
Select the second option, 'Apply sdcard:update.zip
That's it, ClockworkMod recovery should launch!
ROM Manager is by FAR the easiest way to install this. It's free! Go get it! For manual installation, use the following link:
http://www.droidaftermarket.com/koush/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-1.8.1.7-supersonic.zip

are there any roots that work with the new .6 update? other than unrevoked?

Koush?
Can this be done from the ota update or do i have to flash back to the first original stock evo rom?
I don't see wipe davlik cache, only cache altogether. i'm assuming this wipes the dalvik as well, is this true?
Can some 1 post thr links again I cant find them
I'm speechless Great job
So do we need to rename the download in the original post to update.zip since it is something else by default?
Edit: Nevermind. ROM Manager is bad-ass (except that reboot into recovery doesn't work).

[GUIDE] How to get ClockWorkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 on your DHD

Hi! A lot of people ask for a guide to install ClockWorkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 on the Desire HD.
I'm not a pro, i make this guide to help people ! Some one can correct me if I'm wrong, i'm open !
Description:
This guide will help you to install CWM 3 on your Desire HD.
Warning:
CWM 3 doesn't support update-script (Amend), it requires update-binary and updater-script (Edify)
Not all mods use updater-script, test and if that don't work, try this this usefull tool that make the conversion betwen Amend and Edify: amend2edify
If some one want, i can explain the use of this tool
Before Flashing:
You need adb and fastboot to perform this install !
You can download it here:
http://www.multiupload.com/QACREBQOWO
You also have to download the CWM 3 .IMG here:
http://www.multiupload.com/80H7K8IXG4
Let's GO !:
1) Extract the content of adb_fasboot.rar in a folder named "adb_fastboot" at the root of your disk (ex: "C:\adb_fastboot")
2) copy the .IMG of CWM 3 into the same folder of the step 1 (ex: "C:\adb_fastboot\ace-cwm-3.0.0.5.img")
3) Connect your phone by USB in (Charge only mode
4) Open a command prompt: Windows key + R and type "cmd" and valid by OK
5) Go into your adb_fastboot folder with this command:
Code:
cd C:\adb_fastboot
If your folder disk is not c:\ replace "C" by the correct letter !
If your folder is not named adb_fastboot, repalce "adb_fastboot" by your folder name !
6) Reboot your phone in bootloader with this command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
7) Flash the recovery with this command:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery ace-cwm-3.0.0.5.img
8) Reboot your phone:
Code:
fastboot reboot
Well done !
You have successfully flashed ClockWorkMod Recovery 3.0.0.5 on your Desire HD
Great tut But U must also mention about this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11247819&postcount=11554

Not a problem. I didn't think of it either, as I don't normally use ROM Manager, because I usually use adb/fastboot.
When you have the time try and set that back up. It makes things like this easier.

Hi i made a few splash screens for HTC Desire S... S-OFF phones. Just download the PG88IMG.zip that you want, rename it to just "PG88IMG.zip" put it on your sdcard (NOT in a folder) and boot in to bootloader, bootloader will find the PG88IMG and ask to update splash? press volume up for yes then press power to reboot.
Dont forget to delete it off your sdcard once your done coz everytime you enter bootloader, it will ask to update.
I only made a few simple ones so if anyone has any ideas n wants a splash screen then post your pic here and il make it.

Dunno bud. I tried all of them without issues and i just dowloaded one, renamed it and placed on my sdcard, booted into bootloader and it flashed fine, booted recovery, wiped cache then rebooted recovery and still no problem with mounting anything. Problem is at ur end...
Extract the file and put the .img file in ur fastboot folder and flash it from fastboot, its the best way anyway.
Command (i think) is
fastboot flash splash1 splash.img

Weird, it rendered my phone useless propably screwing partition table, had to change HBOOT to 9.8 then install RUU. I will gain S-off again and try that later though. Yesterday I was desperate and angry but looking back, much experience gained. BTW do you know some way to repartition nand (am I asking about right thing?)?
I dunno. Sorry that they didnt work for you and u had to go through the whole ruu crap, il remove them and close the thread, 1 person having a problem is one too many. They work fine for me but, hey, every phone is different.
