Hi, recently installed a 30 day trial of Navigon , and so far really impressed. The only issue, is the voume of the turn by turn instructions, got it turned up to the max, but need the car radio off and to listen intensely to hear.
Any ideas on how to increase the volume?
same problem here, it's just not loud enough with driving noises alone, not even talking about the radio...

Guys i have done the hack and use the phone with the latest nokia HS-12W stereo audio headset, its works great when the phone is near ie in my pocket, if i move more than a meter away the signal drops out all the time, also i have an annoying hiss all the time when connected, is this normal ??
Cheers
Chris
No hiss on the HP FA303. Works fine within 4 meters of my 8125 too. Starts to break up around 6 meters.
The hiss you hear, is it all the time or only when the distance between the phone and headset increases?
And what exactly does it sound like? Is it a constant background noise, or is the music being distorted? I've tried three different headsets (Globalsat, MSI and Sonorix) and on all three the higher sounds are getting distorted somewhat but I've never heard any background "hiss" that some people complain about...
The volume on the HD7 seems low anybody else have this issue?
i dont dont have a hd7 but if you have any wp7 games downloaded it might be worth going back into the game, and checking the volume on the game first, it seems that game volume can also affect the system volume as a whole. increasing it could help if that is the problem. just a guess.
Nope, no problems here, but I use a stereo bluetooth headset with mine. The only bugbear is that the sound for videos always comes out the main speaker, which is a pain when playing games with video sections, like Need for Speed Undercover.
Have you already downloaded the sound enhancer form the htc hub. It makes a huge difference.

I have but not much louder.
Are you talking about speakerphone?
If so then yes. The volume is lower on that than everything else, otherwise, the phone is loud.
I just got a replacement hd7 phone yesterday and this ones speakerphone is way louder then the launch day phone I had. Even vibration is stronger. I dont know if it just me, but the screen colors look brighter and not as washed out as previous phone. I wish I could compare with other phone but screen broke on that one.
Is that a hardware issue? HTC mozart is ****ing loud. Max volume without my ears searing is 22...
You guys are lucky still, volume on the lg optimus 7 is horrible. It is half to 3 quarters of my volume on my N80 or Omnia 1. Vibration is beyond horrible I tried another unit to be sure it wasnt mine seems to be it the handset.
LG Optimus great phone but 3 bad things that annoy me.
Speaker volume overall - poor
Vibration - extra extra crap
The Buttons for Back/Search - make too much of a clicking sound.
If anyone has a htc surround 7 - how is the speaker/vibration for that I am thinking of switching to that. I love the windows 7 os
I too find the volume on my HD7 too low. Although there are some songs that play with loud volume. I'm wondering does zune convert some of the files when we transfer them?
Yeah I too can barely hear the speaker and my headphones are super low too. I tried to watch some netflix on the light rail yesterday and I couldn't hear a thing. Is there anything else beside the HTC app to increase the sound?
My TouchPro2 was hecka loud compared to this. Speaker and Headphones.
I just got mine yesterday (10-03-11) did the mango update and the volume is CRAP.. there is no way these alarm sounds or even trying to use it as a gps in the car even makes sense... the volume SUCKS..
I really think it is app based. for some reason, my Slacker Radio got a little louder since my Mango update... its been a little bit louder i think. Or that might just be me. Let me know XDA people!
While driving I always hook up my cellphone (in this case a Nexus 5) to my car stereo via bluetooth for music streaming. And out of an irrational fear of battery draining too fast, I always keep the cellphone volume as low as possible and rather pump up the volume rocker on the car stereo itself.
Lately I've been wondering if the volume level on the cellphone (while bluetooth streaming) actually makes any difference on battery consumption.
I mean is not like the cellphone speakers are being used, but still getting the cellphone volume up actually makes the car speakers sound louder so... what do you say?
I've search info on this question across the web to no avail (It may be a silly one anyway but still... enlighten me please ).

Can't imagine that it would, since the bluetooth service is running regardless of volume level, and battery usage is predicated on the time the service keeps your phone awake.
While I can imagine that there is a theoretical, but completely miniscule difference in sending audio where the high bits are always zero (it might compress a hair better), I can't believe that it would have any impact on your battery life.
For best audio quality you want to use as many bits as you can when in digital -- less background noise and low-level distortion. That means turning the BT volume up and the car volume down. Unless you've got your tone, bass boost, thump-thump-erator, or other effects turned on, that means basically max BT volume on the phone.
Pretty sure volume control for bluetooth streaming is all done in software, so lowering the volume does nothing but make things hard to hear.
If you're THAT concerned about battery life, having the Bluetooth radio on at all should give you nightmares...
My Skyrocket has always had low earpiece volume. It sounds normal until I get in a noisy environment, then I have to press my ear totally against the phone which barely helps. My wife's Galaxy s2 i777 has louder volume and doesn't have this problem. I have tried all the available roms for my device to no avail. Is this normal for this phone, and if so, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Any app that will work? I love this phone as it meets all my needs except for the volume. Thanks for your help!
edit: i bought this phones 2 months ago from Ebay. I researched it before i bought it, but the main issues others had with the skyrocket was the battery life with LTE. Well, the battery life has been great after custom rom, But the volume is terrible. I first thought i was sold a defective phone but then i found out that others had the same problem, but no solutions. Even all the volume boosts apps that work on other phones (for reasons WAY above my pay grade) do not work on our skyrocket.
...Anybody?... I know this problem of low earpiece volume is common with the skyrocket and has been brought up on many different forums, but I have not found anyone who has found a way to resolve the problem. Any help or direction would be appreciated. This trouble exist with both stock and custom roms.
still no answers?...sigh...
Well, I have replaced the earspeaker and the problem still persists. To clarify, the speaker is not as low as it was when Beanstalk 4.4 was going thru its growing pains and the volume level dropped after one of the builds a month or so ago. It is just that standing outside with normal outdoor sounds (occasional traffic, birds tweeting, outdoor noises) ihave to hold my ear directly against the speaker. I dont have that problem with my wife's s2 i777
Well, a month has passed with no replies. I have found that the volume level is good when using a headset to answer calls, so I have resorted to trying to be sure to carry earbuds with me. On the rare occasion that I dont have earbuds are the days I dread having this phone. As I us my phone for work, I need it to work as a phone first, and a smartphone secondary. As I stated before, I love the features of this phone, but there has to be a workaround for the volume levels. Maybe I'm just getting old and you young folks dont use the phone to actually speak to each other. Woah! Who let my dad in the room?!!? Anyway, Still looking for help. I am not asking which rom is better than another, but are there any roms that have louder volume levels? I have tried many here including Beanstalk, Dirty Unicorns, Liquid Smooth, Sultans CM 11...

Bean Stalk comes with am app called DSP manager which helps control volumes for bluetooth headsets. Give that a shot. It may just be your headset

The headset isn't the problem. The phone sounds great thru all the headsets that I have tried and thru the loudspeaker. The low volume level is when I am not using the headset and actually have to place my ear up to the phone(earpiece speaker). Its usable in normal areas, such as inside a room, but standing outside with normal background sounds like nature and light road traffic, I can barely hear the caller. I have to press my ear against the phone pretty hard, which usually ends up with accidental button presses and hangups.

Oh i understand, yes I have had that same issue which is why i bought a blue tooth headset.... Not sure if programming can do anything about the internal speaker.

Yeah, I was kinda hoping that maybe somebody discovered something that solve this. I don't know anything about programming, but I was thinking that back when beanstalk had those troubles with extra low volume, it was eventually fixed. And since he was able to boost the volume back to correct levels maybe it could be boosted just a little bit more. Or Since DSP works with bluetooth speakers and headphones and external speakers it seems like it would be easy to make it boost the earpiece volume. But I know that it is NOT easy...it may be impossible. If it was easy then there would have been a fix long ago. But a man can hope, can't he?
Hello.
I've gotten pretty frustrated with using my 3a for a while now regarding this specific issue, the call volume is just always super low and makes using the default phone app unbearable because I can hardly hear the other person, it is ALWAYS at max volume btw.
I just genuinely do not understand why the call volume is so low whilst the other volumes (media, alarms, etc) don't seem to have this issue and I can even get additional apps to boost the volume for those- but not the call volume.
It seems to have gotten worse just several days ago when some liquid hit the grill , so now instead of it sounding like someone is 3 feet away from the phone, it just sounds like 6 feet away. But even with this situation, it did NOTHING to my other volume settings.
Is there anything I can do to improve the loudness at all without depending on headphones? I would prefer having the phone on my ear , especially since calls on headphones literally echo whatever gets picked up on my microphone back to me I just honestly hate it.
Get a replacement phone. That's not normal. My call volume gets loud.

Is that really the only possible solution here...?
Everything else is fine...I just cannot find a way to make the call volume louder, just seems like Im stuck putting it on speakers or using headphones at the moment.
