I have searched high and low with no success - please help!
I only use wifi on my Diamond and disabled the data plan with Sprint. However, my Diamond keeps giving the notifications:
1. Data Call Failure Error Code 67
2. Cant Connect #777 Error
I would like to disable these notifications as they are useless to me as I connect to wifi only. How do I disable my Diamond from delivering both of these unwanted notifications????
Thank you
anyone at all please help.
one more bump, hoping.....

Hi,
Maybe Paul at Modaco has the answer
Dirk
I'm not sure we have the same cause, but here is what caused my HTC Touch Pro2 to show Error Code67.
I was playing around with XDAndroid AOSP 2.1 on my device, then used Menu+Hngup key to power off. HTC blank screen immediately came up and device booted back into WinMo 6.5 (MightyRom). Error 67 popped up right afterwords. Trying to go to setting->system->update profile / update prl, neither option works.
After trying a couple of more options and nothing worked, I powered off the phone, waited for one minute, turned it on again, the error is gone.
Again, not sure it helps your situation, but it fixed mine... Hope it will work for you as well.

Got since a couple of weeks the Polaris, also my first Windows Mobile device. And it is great
But got a (simple?) question, when my phone has no signal, but do want to establish a data connection, I get a pop-up which says something like "Trying to set up data connection...". But of course this is impossible, so it disappears and a second later a new pop-up pops up... And this goes on, and on and on. I can't do anything with the phone because I always get that stupid pop up. Is there any solution for this? Disabling the whole pop up is no problem (got a unlimited data plan).
Thanks in advance,
Fabian

If you are familiar with hacking the registry:
; Disable pop-up notification bubble when starting a wireless data call
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{8ddf 46e7-56ed-4750-9e58-afc6ce486d03}]
"Options"=dword:00000000
Hi JNGold
Fantastic, been looking for this.
Many thanks and keep up the good work.

I'm also very thankful to you!
I'm sure this is a noob question, but I can't find the answer on the forum.
I've seen a couple people reference automatically ending the data connections when they're idle. Can someone explain how this is done?
Is the desire to disconnect the data to save on battery life? Just curious. Thanks.
That's the main reason I want to do it...not sure about others...
I figured out two ways to do this for anyone else that's interested.
1) Using Advanced Config Tool (V3.3): Menu > More Settings > Connections. Check "Disconnect After" and set the timeout you want. This seems to work well for activesync connections (my mail is set to recieve every 5 min), but doesn't always work for on demand connections (Internet).
2) Comm Manager Pro. No instructions for this since I'm not using it (yet). But everything I've read looks like it does it.
Like I mentioned, I've got my email configured to sync every 5 minutes and I have a connection timeout of 30 seconds set in Advanced Config. This setup has drastically improved my battery life. Before this change, I got maybe 12 hours on a good day. With this timeout set, I could probably get 2 solid days. The only thing I haven't figured out is if the timeout is and idle timeout or an overall timeout. What I mean, is will the connection end after 30 seconds even if it's in use?
I'm interested in this as well, it would be even better if outlook or msn live would make a connection and disconnect after synchronizing.
I've been looking for the same solution. So far using advanced config settings will force disconnect no matter if it was idle or not. I'm looking for a solution to disconnect only when idle.
As of proof, set auto disconnect to 1 minute and using latest skype v3.0 start transferring a large file. After 1 minute data connection will be forcibly disconnected.
Any solutions for this?
Thank you.
Can someone help me find the timing setting in Advanced Config? I've looked through everything - using Energy 3.0 Rom (WM6.5) and don't see anything related to data disconnect other than under "Data Connections:" "GPRS disconnect:" and my settings are "Enable button and timer"
I don't see where the timer comes into play; don't really care if the connection gets cut off - I'd rather see a battery life improvement.....
I'm an absolute idiot. I just skimmed through the thread and didn't read the post above... *smacks forehead*
Its been posted in this very topic, and its only 5 replies long

In advanced config the settings you are looking are not located in the list on first screen, the are in separate menu as described above.
And now I'll quote myself so my question will not get burred:

guys, found this

Thanks for the link, unfortunately it still disconnects even if data connection is in use.
WMLongLife can do this for you.
About the registry tweak that does this, I must warn you: it disables the ability to do voice and data simultaneously.

Yes it does require a certain way of using your phone (current test version has specific settings - you can change this in next version). Just saying.

Yes it can, but it depends on several factors. Under ideal (and never actually occuring) conditions it can be done with 2G GSM (GPRS/EDGE). Normally, however, either GPRS/EDGE connection suspends ('pauses') during voice call, or with 2G CDMA voice call may not work at all while data connection active (depends on exact 2G CDMA network type).
With 3G GSM (UMTS/HSPA) it is quite possible (and normal) to do data and voice simultaneously, however for some reason the auto data disconnect registry tweak breaks it. I'm not quite sure why, but it does.
3G CDMA (EV-DO) behaves the same as 2G GSM with regards to simultaneous voice and data (data drops), however, EV-DO Rev. A behaves the same as 3G GSM (possible but broken by registry tweak)
Aside from this, it is also needed that your provider/network has the correct hardware to handle this. I'm not sure how common it is for this properly operating on EV-DO Rev. A, but for UMTS/HSPA early tower equipment was bugged and did not allow this. In Europe, most UMTS/HSPA towers have since been upgraded to allow simultaneous voice and data (and HTC handsets support this perfectly), but how this is in the USA I cannot say.
Hope that explains it (it is a bit messy explenation I know)
if this dowsn't work then i have no ideea what will )

tell me if worked for you
!!!!!
I had it set to disconnect (via Diamond Tweak software) after 1 minute of activity. I did this to preserve battery life, BUT BUT BUT
With 3g on, and even with 3g disabled all day and edge on, the battery still died in 8, 12 hours (3g, edge) with the connection disabling. i use the phone for a good number of calls, text, and some data every day.
AFTER i reenabled it to NOT disconnect after every 1 minute, i pulled over 24 hours on a SINGLE charge.
am i the only one that's experienced this??
This took me a while, but I finally figured it out through trial and error. I know there are a few options out there for tethering, but this has always been the preferred way to tether when I was using the Diamond. It's wireless, you can initiate the connection from the PC, and it gives you better battery life than WMWiFiRouter or HTC Wifi Sharing. Best of all, you DO NOT need to initiate a DATA connection on the phone before connecting to your PC! Just fire up the BT DUN connection on your PC, click Dial, then browse the web!
Here's how we do this:
Install DotFred's TaskManager
Click select Menu, Tab Options, Select Tab, Services. Find "CM Guardian", click and hold until menu pop up and select "Set Manual".
Make the following changes on your TP2 with a Registry editor:
1. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll"
2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"
3. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\Wmodem]
Check Profile=0
Connected=0
Multi-NAI=0
WModemDUN=0
4. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WIDCOMM\Plugin\DUNServ er\ControlPanel]
Enabled=1
That's it! Re-pair your TP2 to your PC and BT DUN should be available as one of the services. Create a new DUN profile on your PC, leave username and password blank, and set dial number as #777. Click dial and you should be able to connect... just like old times.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been ripping my hair out over this. However, I am on Verizon and thus my HTC Touch Pro2 has somewhat different entries in the registry than Sprint does. Does anyone know how to get DUN working with the HTC Touch Pro2 on Verizon? I bought a laptop specifically with Bluetooth just to use my phone as the modem but cannot get it working for my life.
After I did all the registry edits I could that you mentioned (even though all of them were not available since I'm on a different provider) I noticed when I try to dial out for a SPLIT second I will see "Dial Up Networking" listed under Bluetooth services. Windows promptly gives me a dialing error and that service on my phone disappears.
Anyone can give any pointers?
I don't have a Service called "CM Guardian". I have a custom ROM, would that make a difference?

Yes, some Rom chefs may have eliminated this service. I know MightyMike left it in his Rom, but I have not tested others on the TP2.

Would this service be in WM6.5? If I download MightyMike's ROM would it be in there or is it only in WM6.1?
Thanks for this.

MightyMike's Rom does indeed have CMGaurdian. I cannot speak for other TP2 Roms, but his does.
KD8FRE
Can anyone give any pointers on getting this to work on the Verizon version of the phone? Been searching high and low!
There is no "CMGaurdian" on my phone. I did a full search for it and it's nowhere to be found. I have the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 rom. But it looks like without being able to set that as manual, I have to change the registry everytime I end up having to restart my phone. But even when I do that, it still goes back to phone as modem after a few minutes instead of staying on Sprint.
Awesome!
Thanks for the info. The connection sharing wasn't working for me anyway.
Just an FYI, you can optionally edit the registery to set the CMGuardian to Manual.
Open a reg editor and navigate to [HKLM\Services\CMGuardian]
Locate the Index key and change the value from 2 (default) to 1.
So anyone on Sprint TP2 with 6.5 stock rom actually got Wmodem to work? I've spent about 24 hr trying just about everything with no luck so far.
I made all the above reg changes, have WModem v02 installed on my TP2. Activate the wmodem prog, connect to computer with usb cable. When i try to connect on my computer, it stucked on verifying user name and pass. There is some sort of data connection going on on the phone itself, but the computer connected to the phone couldn't seem to go pass that "verifying user name and pass"
Much appreciated any help or comment. Thanks
Just wanted to add that I found this thread useful, got the registry entries and made a cab for it. This is for Sprint only! Download, install, and go, no need for registry editing!
Problem tethering via Bluetooth DUN to pspgo
Ok, I am pulling MY hair out on my ATT tilt 2. I am trying to use my fone as a bluetooth modem for my pspgo.
It seems that my Tilt 2 receives the data from the pspgo, but its not sending any data to the pspgo, when I test the connection the tilt2 receives about 9-16 bytes, but it says sent: 0 bytes.
I have energyROM july 16 2010 WWE winmo 6.5
Manilla 2.5.20161332.0
Build: 23563.5.5.0
I have seen vids of people doing this on the Raphael (FUZE) and other phones
I keep getting this connection error on my psp: (8030000B) I have tried so many dial #'s, changing settings, PDAnet,
I think the problem has something to do with:
it being WinMo 6.5 or
The custom ROM has disabled something in the Bluetooth or
Since the ROM is custom, the psp wont recognize this for some reason because just like the WIFI router; the carrier doesn't know I'm tethering. or
I have the wrong Dial-up # or
Authentication settings or Initialization command is wrong or
I need to use a Proxy network
Some other reason ( The ROMS BT stack) whatever that is lol
Does anyone have this or similar problem? Or know whats happening here?
Any help would be awesome!
Thank you
Worked Perfectly
After making the changes you suggested, this worked perfectly on my TP2. It's so funny, after I initially got my TP2 and tried it, I instantly gave up. Now that I'm a month away from going to a new carrier, and most likely a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, I got really interested in getting this working. It was a breeze using the Resco Explorer Demo with included Registry Editor.
TP2 Stock WM6.5
Doesnt work for me. I dont have CMGuardian.
I went ahead and edited the registry anyway and still didnt work even after rebooting.
I'm hoping someone can help figure this out... Trying to tether with my new Xoom!
Thanks a lot defcon6, I was looking for this some time ago, but no look, but know, looking for some other thing i found it, thanks again
Same here, stock 6.5 rom and no CMGuardian. Did you ever figure this out?
Never mind, I did run the cab from pengc99 and it worked fine. After soft reset of the phone, it never got out of the "modem negotiating" state but running the cab again fixed it. Now if I just could find the equivalent to CMGuradian I would be all set but this is at least working.
Bluetooth setting to ALWAYS ON?
Thanks to this thread and the pengc99 file, I successfully (quite some time ago) paired my TP2 via the bluetooth to a Nexus 7 tablet as well as an android phone, but each time I turn on the phone, I have to go through the following steps:
1. Select Communication Manager
2. Turn ON the Data Connection
2. Click on Bluetooth
3. Select one of my paired devices, such as the Nexus 7 by clicking the large "+" icon
4. Select Bluetooth Networking
5. Select the "Share Internet Connection" option
6. Click Continue on the bottom
I tried various registry edit searches here and on google, but cant' find any way to lessen these steps or preferably have the Bluetooth sharing set to ON at all times. If anyone knows how to simplify this process, please post the stops or file that will help us all.
Thanks in advance
Hey,
I have a HTC Touch Diamond and i tried out today Android. It looks good, working with it is like under WM. There is one thing that makes me angry. During the installation it has established automaticly a connection to the internet. It is okay, if i want it. I found after 30 min. of search no function or setting to disable the automatic connection and that made it not really trustworthy. Any idea where i can find a Setting to deactivate that ?
Thanks for help
On android handsets you hold the power button, then it gives options to turn off phone, put into plane mode, and turn off data connection.
i have 2 questions--
1.Is there any way to keep wifi always turned on? it just turns off after some time when the screen goes off
2.I dont get any notifications of my data connection after i call anybody, it does not show the call cost... is there any way to get it.
Please Help!
Thanks

1. For the WiFi you can use - Keep Alive, by Jaxbot. It's available for download on Windows Marketplace or I would recommend the new Beta release Keep Alive 3, it has some bug fixes and some new features. It's available on Windows Phone Hacker -
http://windowsphonehacker.com/mobile/articles/beta_keep_alive_3-09-11-12
2. I'm not sure there. Seems like after devices were updated to Mango or Tango they lost the data/cost notifications.
I think the closest thing you can find to this is - Nokia Data Counters. You can set, monitor and get notifications for calls, MMS and data usage.
