{RESOLVED} I HATE setting up MMS -8125 G4!! - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

Hey everyone, with the help of this forum I have successfully upgraded the 8125 G4 to CRACING's WM 6.5 beautiful ROM. All is well except for the friggin MMS settings. The phone is on Cingular/Att. My question is: there are so many MMS settings floating around (my guess is that these values change over a period of time?) that I cannot seem to find a process/WAP configuration that allows MMS to be sent or received. Would you help a kind soul out? Thanks, and keep up the great work. Cheers
HTC (Cingular) Wizard 8125 G4
CID Unlocked
IPL 2.25.0001
SPL 2.25.0lip
GSM 2.25.11
OS 6.5.0.0

Done.
Here's the way to do it. If anyone has run into a similar problem, this should resolve it at least for T-Mo, Cingular, and AT$T subscribers.
This procedure worked without a hitch for both the 8125 and my HTC-S620.
FYI: It's a compressed PDF as the flat-file PDF exceeded the board's filetype attachment constraint.

Not sure how helpful this is, but to get MMS working over Orange, there was a forum somewhere which had listed a CAB file to put in your device, and when you run it, EVERYTHING to do with data just worked - MMS, GPRS Internet etc...
I think there may have been something similar for your provider.
@ Belfast-Biker :
i took the original MMS_settings_GER.cab
after installing it the MDAc wasn´t able to display anything.
It was worst than before :-(
Greetings M
HA! it works...
after dozens of tries , the mms settings ger.cab seems to be working.
Sending is not longer a problem.... receiving also..
have a great weekend everybody....

Has anyone managed to set up T-Mobile UK settings for SP5?

T-Mobile didn't have a specific set of instructions for Smartphones (wM5) or this specific model. I can see that the SDA is similar but it's 2003. If anyone has managed this, can they let me know how they set up GPRS and MMS??
Many thanks!!

Try here mate!
I just use this .cab file.
It has worked for all of my HTC devices so far including my SP5...
(Actually, the MMS settings don't work properly in the Universal when I'm running the AKU3.2 Beta with the updated MMS client - but I guess that's of very little concern to most people!?)

Need Some Assistance

Ok my boss has a T-Mobile Wing and I have the 8125. We both have Wm6 but I have found that GoodLink doesn't seem to work under Wm6. Is there a registry entry I can change to trick GL into thinking I am running WM5 or are we stuck till GL gets around to releasing a WM6 version of their software?
See this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=300115
But basically you need to get a valid install of it on WM5, and then back it up. Then you can restore it on WM6 and use it (with some limited functionality). I've never used the software, just remember others talking about getting it to work on WM6. Do a google search for goodlink xda and you will find references in other forums too.
10-4 thanks mfrazzz

Help with upgrading my K-JAM to WM6 & picking a ROM, etc.

Hey all, I hope you'll go easy on me as this is the first time I've ever flashed a WM device and the prospect of going wrong has caused me to post here! If anyone could talk me through this I'd be most greatful.
First off thanks for the guide which I've been studying for the best part of the day! I now think I'm ready to give it a try.
I have an i-mate K-JAM with an IPL/SPL of 2.16 which I assume means I have a G3.
I hope I've got it right...
I assume I'll need to downgrade using the Button rom to 1.05 then use Lokiwiz to perform a CID unlock (dunno if my device is CID locked or not, I'll just guess that it is).
Next step will be to upgrade to this T-Mobile ROM and then upgrade to IPL/SPL 3.08 to make the device boot faster.
Now it's time to flash with a WM6 rom right?! .
I'm a little wary of the huge variety of ROMs available. I realise I can't ask 'what's the best ROM' which is fine but I'd like to know which roms people would recommend for maintaining the same functionality of the original WM5 rom that came with my K-JAM, give me the ability to make VoIP calls (I have a voipcheap sip account) and be rather speedy.
I've heard good things about the TNT ROM which appears to have the above things I need. I assume this is the ROM I'll need - I think I'd prefer to add apps seperately so I guess it's best to go with the 'Official' version over 'Professional'.
About VoIP - I've seen people have been having issues with the other persons sound coming from the loudspeaker, has this issue been sorted now?
Let's say I decide to go back to WM5 (for whatever reason) at a later stage, I assume this'll still be possible by following the exact same downgrade/upgrade steps in the guide?
I hope I'm on the right path. Thanks to anyone who can help out!

Cheers, did you follow the same kinda procedure in my post? Have you messed with VoIP at all, if so how's it working for you?
Is WM6 running a lot smoother than WM5?
All done!
Just have one last question for now here

Sorry, I've tuned into your question late. If it helps, I'm using mfrazz's XM6r3 ROM (I tried a more recent one that was buggier and went back to 3.) VoIP (Internet Calling) worked "right out of the box"- I just had to load one of the VoIP configuration utilities floating around here to enter my provider settings.
The only two issues really are that it uses the loadspeaker instead of the earspeaker (but bluetooth works fine) and the biggest issue- the Wizard is just too d**m slow for Internet Calling to work well- the audio is very choppy without overclocking (which I'm loathe to do.)
Fring, from Fring.com is a decent app for VoIP on slow WM phones like the Wizard, so I have that installed as well. It lets you use Skype, Google Talk, and a few other VoIPs as well as one SIP provider all in one app. It's not perfect either- it also uses the loudspeakers, it's akward to dial from (it has no real "dial pad"- you can either dial an existing contact by selecting one, or another number by selecting any contact and "overriding" their displayed number), it doesn't support DTMF (so there's no way to "press 1 for English...") and it always leaves the device volume at full blast when you exit the app, but it's got the best audio quality of any VoIP app I've used on the Wizard. (I used it from Mexico back in January over my hotel's WiFi to make $0.02/minute calls back to the States rather than T-Mobile's generous $1.49/min roam rate!)

Need Registry Entries from original O2 ROM (MMS settings)

Hey guys,
basically i have upgraded to gullum's ROM and found that my MMS settings are wrong, meaning that pictures i send get resized by o2. My mms pictures are tiny and i need a registry entery from the original orbit 2 rom to help.
The links to this are:
http://forum.o2.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=11821
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441428&page=2
could someone with the original o2 rom installed please tell me the registry entries at location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - Software - Arcsoft MMS UA - Config - mm1 - WspHeader
for
User-Agent string
and
x-wap-profile string
thanks
Fergus
As a temporary measure i decided to use the info from this thread,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2648519
but i still need the orbit 2 settings. If anyone can spare 5 min to check those registry strings that would be great, thanks!
just for my own records what the gullum ROM has is:
and
(HTC_P3650/arcsoft-mmsua-4.0.0.xx)
User-Agent string
HTC-8900/MR2
and
x-wap-profile string
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/ATT/Pilgrim-1.0.xml
thanks for replying, but are you sure you are using o2? Those headers would appear to be for another service provider and model.
Surely the user agent profile would have orbit2 in it somewhere?
I have the 02 XDA Orbit 2 running O2's official wm6.1 update:
RUU_Polaris_O2_UK_3.13.206.0_radio_sign_25.85.30.07_1.59.42.15_Ship.exe
But, I am in the USA and use a cab file to install AT&T's settings. Guess that's a problem as far as the settings you're seeking.
Sorry.
this makes perfect sense then. The cabinet file has likely altered your mms applications software, arcsoft to think that the phone is the pilgrim. Likely this is a phone that At&T sells with its network, so it knows exactly how to handles picture messages from this phone.
The ignito fix works for me in the same way, however i would prefer the original o2 settings.
Had occasion to do a hard reset so I let it install the O2 UK Post Pay settings. Hopefully this is what you need:
User-Agent
Xda_Orbit_2/arcsoft-mmsua-4.0.0.xx
x-wap-profile string
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/gen/Polaris-1.0.xml
thank you very much this is exactly what i was needing! Your help is much appreciated.
However it is just my luck, i need to reflash since i appear to have a touch screen/button fault. If this doesn't clear then i will be sending the device back. So i will have the opportunity to get the settings anyway!
