After a soft-reset, the right button on the scroll wheel is simply not responding at all. I can still press left, up, down, and turn it both ways and it responds normally - but the right button is doing nothing.
I've tried many soft-resets, and I don't see how on earth a hard reset could help this at all, unless it really is some random registry entry that somehow got messed up.
I thought I'd ask here in case anyone knows of some obscure registry issue that could have caused this somehow. Otherwise, I guess I just have to accept the fact that I'll never again be able to use the right scroll wheel button.
Any suggestions or experiences with this? Or, if not, can anyone just tell me where to find this in the registry so I can check it myself?
Thanks, in advance.
I have the very same problem, right button not responds even if i boot android with haret.
Please help!
Should i take apart and clean, or what else?
Thanks!
I have the similar problem, d-pad left button almost dosent work.
I mast push it very hard to make it work.
I think it's a hardware problem.
any idea to fix this problem without changing another d-pad?
Hi,
I have the same problem, too. The right button from d-pad doesn't work. Since the button stopped working, I've tried more than one or two different ROMs. The result is the same.So all that means the problem isnt in the software. I think its hardware malfunction. I use this phone more than 3 years. May be its more than enough yo use it. I think your phones need nothing but repair

Hi,
I've got a problem with my Trinity, where if it rings and I pull it out of my pocket, sometimes one of the buttons gets pushed as it rubs past the material, so either the call can be hung up on or it gets answered before I can see who's calling.
I also get a similar problem if a calendar alarm goes off, or if there is a text message. Sometimes these can be dismissed before I get a chance to see what is causing the notification.
I guess this is a problem on many PPC phones which dont have a cover. Does anyone else experience this?
Does anyone know of any way to solve this? Perhaps having a secondary lock button which needs to be pressed before the hard buttons become active or something like that...?
I guess it would need some software installed, as I havent found any way to do this through the normal settings.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Cheers,
Ben
My Jasjam comes with a screen lock. Once this is activated you first need to press the unlock button which gets assigned to the left soft key followed by another button on the screen. Quite effective I would say.

Hi,
Is this the same as the "Device Lock"?
My phone has this too, but it doesn't work for when there is an incoming call...ie you dont have to unlock the phone first to press the green "handset" button.
Ben
Hi Ben,
I have been having the same issue as you with my Jasjam. I tried using a hard case which was just too bulky and annoying, so I've since used something like those iPod socks and just keep it in my pocket. I just take extra care when pulling it out so it doesn't knock the green answer key. I think this is just something we're just going to have to get used to unfortunately.
Hey all, just upgraded to thingonasprings rom and im pretty chuffed so far... only a couple of problems, im sure someone will be able to help me as a newbie. Keyboard and phone buttons seem to work fine, but the dpad, backlight, voice dial and camera buttons and volume control all seem dead and the power button doesnt always bring the screen back up, i have to close the lid and re-open.
Is anyone else having this problem? Can anyone confirm them to be working in another rom that is as good as thingonasprings?
ok, i guess no one else has this problem... can anyone recommend a way to capture when a button is pressed and what reference refers to that button? Is there anything in the registry storing a button reference followed by its action. I may not be using the correct terminology.
If anyone can help it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
try to reflash it again... maybe it would help.
Thanks for the reply
I tried reflashing, and even tried changing to a different rom (I am using thingonaspring's rom, but have tried Beasty & Laurentius as well). Im guessing that this is something kinda specific to my device as it seems no-one else has had this problem. I know that the backlight button actually works as I can use it to get into the bootloader, thats why im thinking it must definately be a rom / software issue. Ive been looking for an app I can use to trace a button press, but cant find anything. I really like WM6, but without these buttons / volume slider i may need to swap back to something else... i was running 2003 with wisbar but the performance didnt seem as good as it is now, and i love realvga (I dunno if it is supported on other versions of the OS).
ok, think im getting somewhere - went back to wm5 and all was fine, went to wm6 and they worked until i reset...then nothing... hard reset and they work, until i reset again.... anyone any ideas please?
now sorted changed rom to jwrights and its much better - thanks
When I wake the polaris up, it seems that the left button (the one in the wheel) is permanently pressed until I press another button. I have to do this in order to unlock the device, as the button is pressed I only get the message "Press cancel and then unlock".
This happens every time I wake up the device and sometimes when I am using it in other situations. It is almost unusable in this state.
I suppose it is a hardware problem. Any ideas for a way to fix it? I wouldn't like to send it to service, but I am fearing this is the only chance I have now. Any help would be appreciated. I have already switched it off, and also removed the battery for a while, but I have the same problem when I turn it on again.
This has happened to me for the first time yesterday. The device has not fallen to the ground any time since I have it (since February). I only carry it in my pocket.
Thanks for your help.
ah, I forgot to tell you. When the button stops being pressed (because I have pulsed another one) it doesn't work anymore. If a press it, no effect, the cursor doesn't move to the left...
I have read in another forum that someone who had a similar problem with the wheel managed to solve it by doing a hard reset and by restoring a backup done before the problem. He stated that using the option "erasing memory" didn't work and that he had to do the hard reset by doing "gps button + ie button + soft reset".
Here is the funny thing. I cannot do that kind of hardreset. Why? Because as the left button seems always pressed the confirmation screen in which you must press the send button to perform the hard reset, never appears. I guess it is due to the cruise which detects that the combination of buttons is no good or because the confirmation screen is shown but as the left button is pressed, you do not have enough time to press the send button (I don't even see the screen).
Is there anyway to perform the hard reset in another way? Thanks for your help...
Well, my cruise works fine now. What have I done? Nothing. Maybe it was a hardware problem in the contact of the button (some dirt or whatever) and now it is working. I don't know, although it wouldn't surprise me if it were software (I had a similar problem with the vibrator in a Mio A701, two days broken, got to work after that and never again failed). I just used the bluetooth and received a couple of calls.
Now I can hardreset. As the button is no longer permanently pressed, the combination of buttons works. Although I haven't pressed "send" to actually do it, since it seems fine.
More here if it fails again, but as I told you I read similar problems in the wheel in another forum...
Hello guys, I have one raphael, and it started a very stupid issue, and this makes me crazy because in the principals times I need to use it, happens that the Panel wich have the answer button, the end button, the house and the back-arrow buttons also, and in the midle have the circular button, wich there are 4 mini arrows, (left, right,up,down), always I press the house and the answer buttons, it is working as left arrow, and the <- with the end button working as right arrow.
I always percepted it, but now it is happening all times, all times I need to press the answe button to go the phone it keeps working as the arrow, surfing on the tf3d.
I need the original configurations of the buttons, I cant persist with it, What should I do?
im pretty sure that bottom area gets messed up over time.
mine now only works with each area whenever it wants.
sometimes all work great.sometimes 3 do sometimes none.
my buddy had a fuze for about a week when the whole bottom panel stopped working for good
usually for me a soft reset helps
I made so much soft resets!
It doesnt work, do you think a hard reset?
What a hell could I do now?
oh my god
could anybody be helpful with me?
I'm needing this help
my fuze is stopping working as phone
that is not descriptive. what doesnt work
the panel
the four butttons on the panel
(house,back,call/answer, end)
It has started messing a long time, and now messed forever, I can make a soft reset than it keeps asking crazily these buttons, everytime as arrow left or arrow right
I need to configure the house as house
the phone(answer/call) as phone
the end call as end call!
basmareck, are you running a custom ROM?
I am running the official raphael's ROM, downloaded on the official website of HTC.
The error is in the panel, at the four buttons, the send/answer button is working as left arrow all the time.
It is messed up!
damnit!
no helps for me, its making me mad
its faulty. youve had it under a year right? get it fixed
Have you tried a hard reset or reflashing the stock rom? What about cleaning the panel? I believe there are only two buttons under that panel, one on the left and one on the right, and the function is dictated by the capacitative nature of it, so maybe it's dirty? I'd say if a hard reset or reflash doesn't fix it, try to seek a warranty exchange.
Also, are you using any programs that make the scroll whell work as something else like SensorScorll? That has a setting to enable touch so you wouldn't need to push down to use the arrows, maybe that got switched somehow to be persistant with everything? I'd give that a check too.
Hey, the power button broke on my nexus s, YYAAYY
the problem is, that it is not just broken, but it is also sorta stuck... what i mean by that is, instead of not being able to press the power button, it is constantly pressed. this means i can not:
1. turn off the phone
2. use the bootloader, which is actually a huge problem, as i havent rooted the thing yet (or rather restored everything to factory a while ago)
3. lock the screen.
what now? i openend it and i cant figure out what is wrong, the button seems just fine on the motherboard, i can even press it, the internal contact seems to be stuck or something. is there any way i can fix that? can i disable the button on a hardware level entirely? or am i missing some way to make it work here?
please help
