Stock Att Rom - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hi, i was wondering if someone could help me out. Im quite new to the whole ppc thing, roms, spl, and all that.
I was wondering if it was possible to make a rom exactly like the ATT WM6.1 rom, but remove all the att programs which slow it down.
Is that possible?
has it been done?
thx.

Sorry that I am cluttering the rom development forum with a question that has been asked a thousand times, but I am new here and did not feel like wasting my time reading the wiki.
Here is the answer to your question. Read the part on removing " bloatware " and customizations from your AT$T rom.
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TiltSpecificWikiPage
And while you are there read the entire Kaiser Wiki, it contains the answers to every question you could possibly have about your phone.

wow, thanks a lot, sorry about cluttering the place.

Newbie Lounge?

I haven't seen a board for newer users but I'm new to the whole WM community, XDA and all and I got some questions.
ROMs, basically the phone systems? Exactly why do people want "cooked ROMs", what can you change?
Cooked ROM, that's a self-made ROM I assume?
Dumped ROM?
Radio ROMs?
Hard-SPL?
GPS Photo?
How do you reboot a device? Honestly pressing your Stylus down in the back makes me feel I'm doing wrong, is that a Soft Reset or?
That's all I can think of right now. Thank you to the person in advance that helps answering my questions.
"Cooked ROM, that's a self-made ROM I assume?"
people remove and add things they want and dont want from the os
"Dumped ROM?"
people who "dump" a backup of their device
"Radio ROMs?"
special software which control the gsm umts .... phone part of the device
"How do you reboot a device? Honestly pressing your Stylus down in the back makes me feel I'm doing wrong, is that a Soft Reset or?"
it's softreset if you feel dirty doing it get somebody else to do it

No more WM6? only WM6.1

Hi all,
Im probably being stupid and please tell me if i am, but i wanted to find out does no one make cooked WM6 ROM's anymore. I ask as i dont seem to get on with WM6.1 ROM and i still have a stock T-mobile UK ROM installed and i have to say its not very good lol.
If anyone is still making WM6 ROM's i would appreciate any links to these please. I tried a search but i never seem to find anything :S
Many Thanks
My bet is no. Most people here are "power users" and "power users" are always looking ahead at the Next big thing. WM6.1 was/is that thing. It doesn't suck like Vista, so I doubt they will go back to the "old" WM6.0 But you could always keep your eye out. A Chef Might Release a WM6.0, but I personally wouldn't hold my breath.
Ah well thanks for the reply. If anyone is out there cooking WM6 ROM's I would greatly appreciate a link. Thanks to all

haha very funny, lol
Just go to the sticky FAQ (w/G.W.E.N.I.), choose 'cooked roms' en go to wm6.0 roms. There you will find some of the latest. And... next time please search & read .. At least the stickies.... Have fun.

OEM ROM Programs

This may or may not have been covered here but I just flashed to the OEM Kaiser ROM on my ATT Tilt and I am wondering if HTC Album is supposed to be in the ROM or if I messed up some how. I thought the program would be on it. To get it am I going to have to download a cooked ROM?
If this is the dumbest question ever I apologize I am new here. PS I did try to search but I did really know what to search for without getting over 100 results.

You really need to ask your question in one thread and not start new ones:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=13426452
Depends on the ROM, whether it's shipped or cooked. It's pretty easy to find so stop complaining and just read a couple of links. You could also try looking at Alltheway's or P1tater's repositories, which are found in the sticky.

Info overload.. but which ROM do I use?

Sorry.. truly sorry for asking such a dumb question. I have found and will use the NEWB flashing guide, but even there it doesn't suggest which ROM to use.
Jade? Maybe?
I have a ATT branded Tilt, latest crappy ATT 6.1 build and am ready for all of the improvements.
Since there are so many different ROMs of different flavors, it honestly is hard to tell which one to use in general.
Can someone make a good suggestion? I even saw off one of the linked site for the ROM images, one for the new touch HD?
Hoping for ease of use, speed, and better radio reception.
Thanks.. and again sorry for the newbie question

What exactly is ROM????

Hey guys,
I know I am going to sound really newby, but that is true in this PDA world for me. I recently got my HTC love, and I really love the phone.
I have surfed XDA for quite a while, and I am truly amazed at the number of PDA users. It truly is a great collection, but I have not been able to find answers to these questions. The search option has not helped much but give me several different ROM types and versions, but I dont know what exactly they are so can someone help me out on these questions please:
What exactly is ROM?
What is Flashing ROM?
Different languages of ROM?
Manila 2D ROM? Kaiser ROM? Diamond ROM?
It would be really kind if someone could answer these questions.
I appreciate your time.
Thank You
ROM stands for Read Only Memory and is the part of your phone's memory where the Operating System is stored - equivalent if you like to XP or Vista on the PC.
Flashing the ROM refers to replacing the ROM that came with your phone with another - usually written or "cooked" by enthusiasts who build in there own programs and preferences. Flashing is best done after much study as there is a chance you can wreck your phone. If you want to modify your phone it is best to start off using CAB files.
Yes there are different languages of ROMs available. A Manila2D ROM would have the Manila2D interface built into it. Kaiser and Diamond are other phones in the HTC range.
My phone slows down with the cab files, and I can see how memory plays a part there.
Also installing manila 2d was way too laggy, I kind of want more memory and space available.
So if I do the flash ROM, and have this huge ROM space, all I have to do later is to install cab files on ROM right?
Thanks for your reply Restorer.

this is the questions an answers section, in otherwords if someone has a question give them an answer. if you are going to say "read the wiki" you need to atleast give them a link on where to start, otherwise you are just spamming.
now to ANSWER the question....
yes you can install cabs, its still windows mobile its just like when you a get a computer from dell, dell will give you windows but they will also give you a bunch of "Dell-ware" (usually a bunch of useless shareware someone is paying them to load on their computers)
When you get a new rom you still get windows you just get a choice at what you want on your phone, instead of what your service provider thinks they might be able to sell you or what they think you will use.
You can get roms in all different flavors, anything from something striped down to the very core of the operating system, or something loaded with multimedia features, or something based around a program such as a manilla rom.
to read up on this go here, MAKE SURE YOU READ, if you follow direction you will be fine but if you just jump in without reading everything you will brick your phone.
Here is some good readin that will answer some of your questions....
