Hi,
Looks like you formatted your card as a HD under Linux... Best get back to a *nix-machine and format it again from there, but in FAT this time.

I have been having a real hard time moving all my apps over to my sd card. I have tried three different tutorials and none of them seem to work. I tried JFvMOD by LucidREM: APPS on SD [2009-02-14] guide and when I rebooted my phone it was stuck on the G1 image for way too long. I think the problem is that my g1 is having trouble reading my ext2 section of my sd card. I am running JFv1.42_RC33
I'm pretty sure I partitioned my card correctly because I used partition manager 9 and I set aside two different ext2 sections, both 1 gig. When I read my card through partition manager it says I have a ext2 section and I also tried it on a mac and it says I have a ext2 section too, but when I type in busybox df -h it comes up with:
dev/block/mmblk0p1 5.4G 1.9G 3.5G 35% /sdcard
and nothing like:
/dev/mmcblk0p2 1.5G 6.3M 1.4G 0% /system/sd
I have an 8 gig sd card so it says I am missing 2 gigs
I would really appreciate if someone could help me out
Hi,
Do you mean Paragon Partition Manager?
The ext2 drive should be a primary partition not a logical one.
Otherwise it wont work.
Yes, that's what I meant. How do I create a primary partition and not a logical one?
Hi,
Connect your phone to the computer and mount drive.
Start ppm and click 4th link on right.
Click create partition, determine size you want and highlight the sd card drive, you would click format and pick ext2.
It will format the ext2 drive as a primary drive.
So you will have 2 primary drives, one fat32 and one ext2.
Your computer will reboot automatically as part of the formating process.
If something went wrong in the formating process, remove both ext2 partition and redistribute unused space to the fat32 partition and start over.
I am still having problems.
I reformatted everything. The ext2 and fat32 types are both primary however on the top it is labeled: Logical Disk (*). [No Label]
Any ideas

Ok so Open Paragon, click ADVANCED PARTITIONING on bottom right, on your sd card right click on the partition and click Delete partition. Then Delete all other partitions on the SD card.
After you have deleted them all, click on the apply button on the top of Paragon. Then after that is finished, right click on the sd card and click create partition. The first drop down box will say: Create Partition as: and select Primary Partition. Then select the size you want the FAT32 Partition to be and on the Second drop down box select FAT 32. Then click yes.
Then Right click on the sd card again on the part that says (unallocated) and click Create partition. Select the partition as primary, and this time select the Linux Ext2 option of the second drop down box. Then click yes. Finally, Click on the top button to apply changes (Green Check mark) and you are done partitioning. Then just follow these instructions.
Let me know if that works for you. Good luck.
EDIT: BTW the Linux Ext2 partition has to be less than 2GB for this to work.
Hi,
Thanks good info.
I made mine 1.6 gigs just by chance.
Good thing it's under the 2gb limit.
Any reason it has to be less than 2gigs?
Thanks

I have no idea why it has to be less than 2gigs, its just based on experience and what others on the forum said. If you make it more than two gigs the market will give you an error when you try to install apps that says something along the lines of "Not enough Space to install program."
I have a sd card. i partitioned it using paragon partition manager mounting sd card thru phone. THen moved apps2sd and then decide to delete partition. So i being unable to delete the partition used windows own partition management to delete all the partitions. Then i decided to again partitions the card. Now i can't. Paragon partition manager can't do it. Used the sd split(ques- do we need an empty card for that). My phone storage went to 0 mb. Can anybody help me to again partition it. I really need it with haykuro's 5.02 H as it has only 43 mb free space. Please!!! Help.

I haven't used paragon before but I would suggest using gparted through an ubuntu(or some other linux distro) live cd. Basically you download the cd image, burn it onto a cd, restart your computer with the cd in and it'll bring up a little menu that gives you the option to start up in ubuntu off the cd. Then go to System->(can't remember, but it's the second option)->Partition Editor. It has a nice gui and you just choose the last device listed which should be your sd card(check the size to make sure!) and you can create new partitions. Making an ext2 partition correctly in windows is a tad... difficult.
EDIT: actually, you can just use this:http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php
Help
Can u please help me use it. I have portable ubuntu and now this. Can u provide step by step instructions or atleast give a hint to use it
I think I messed up my sd card for my G1.
I have a 8gb memcard and it was with 2 partitions ext2 and fat32. I just wanted to enlarge the fat32 side because the ext2 was 4gb big. Useless I thought So i deceided to make it only 500mb as ext2 and 7gb as fat32.
Now the computer can't access the card, it says that the cardslot is empty.
I use Paragon Partition Manager and there I can't modifie my sdcard. Nothing helps. I can see my sdcard in Paragon, but can access it and modify it!
Is my card messed up and do I have to buy a new one? Anybody knows how to restore it as it was when I bought it (only fat32 8gb)

YES you are so great!
It works now! Just like new. 8gb no partitions.
Thx!
No problem.
Now I have an another problem!
It always says write delay failed constantly!
Cannot access it, cannot format it, even not with sd formatter.
Is it now realy broken?
nobody :'(
Otherwise I have to order a new 8gb memory card which costs me a lot
use partition magic, create 2 partitions, make the primary partition your biggest and format it fat32, the second partition format in ext2. Then you will be okay

The problem is that I cant access my mem.card.
Always a fault: write delay failed. It makes even my computer freeze.
well if you have to get a new one get one of these:

Had the same problem after i used Paragon, would not read micro sd anymore. I did a system restore to before i installed Paragon. Problem solved. I am able to read my cards again. I noticed that in that "finish formatting after reboot" Paragon had an error. Figured thats what caused the problem.

Hi Karloe
Yes very happy with my white G1.
How is it with the black one running ADP 1.5?
I will try SDSPLIT, but i think it will not help
If it doesn't work, try a linux live CD (Ubuntu, OpenSuse, Knoppix (I like Knoppix because of the extensive toolset for testing))
[offtopic]
The black one is doing fine, engineering bootloader, ADP1.5 with appstosd

Hello.
Please help me on partitioning my sdcard. I noticed after installing apps, [got so many apps, it's 16gb yeah] my phone got slow when opening some games and applications.
I tried partitioning using 4ext touch, and my storage became small from 16gb to 5+gb.
How can i partition my microsd without losing a big space?
I still need a big space though.
Thank you!
Okey this is what i did, please someone reply if i did something wrong.
1st sd-ext partition -> skip
swap parition -> 256
Is this ok?

Of course you're right with the 4GB file limit. But for testing if your sd card still works it should be totally fine. Once the card works, you can format it to exFat in windows.

Try to use SDFormatter. Try different options. If it doesn't help, may be your beloved sd card is (physically) broken.
Fat32
I think you have to format your SD into fat32
