HTC mogul email setup - General Questions and Answers

Recently upgraded to WM 6.1 on HTC Mogul (sprint). Setting up my email accounts. Entered correct username/password. Checked the save password box. Every time it tries to retrieve my email, it shows that screen again with username/password fields populated, but now the save password box is unchecked. Doesn't do anything when I check the box. Keep getting the same error.
So basically it is not saving my password.

Can't Send Emails

Hi new Touch owner, I previousley used P800 through to P990i so wm6 is a little different for me.
I have done a search but found the answers did not help me.
I am having a problem sending emails (receiving them no problem) I have set up my email account manually (pop3) and the only thing I have noticed is after receiving the the error "could not send email, check settings, bla bla bla.
that I have a double password entry, I remove this and put in the correct password but when the send fails again the double password entry is back.
Outgoing server requires authentication is not checked.
I am using BT internet Yahoo mail
Anyone any ideo what the problem is?
p.s. I have installed the exact same settings on my iPod Touch which works no problem

manual email setup

Hi..I have a Blackstone with an email problem Is there a way to turn off outlooks "auto" settings? Im trying to get yahoo mail working (the payed for verison) with pop3. However when I setup the account in outlook it automatically detects yahoo settings for the free version and Im unable to change from IMAP4 to POP...someone suggested manual setup but I cant figure it out. Ive also tried making an account like @yaahhoo.com then going back and changing but it will not allow the original email to be changed. Any help appreciated.
THANKS!!
on the second page of "setup E-Mail" should be the field "try to get e-mail settings automatically from the internet"
try to unmark this and now you can add your settings manually....

[Q] Hotmail with Email App

Anyone get their hotmail account to sync up the their transformer email app? I didn't have any problems with any other email address just my 2 hotmail accounts
I've tried the POP
POP3 server - pop3.live.com
Port - 995 (you can also try 110)
Security type to - SSL
Touch Delete email from server if you want to change this option.
SMTP server - smtp.live.com
Port - 587 (you can also try 25)
Security type to - TLS
Require Sign in should be checked.
I can't get it to get verify incoming port, always fails on username password
Also I tried the Exchange Settings
Domain\Username: Clear out and put in your full hotmail address
Password: if not pre-filled, obviously put in your hotmail password
Server: m.hotmail.com
Check "Use Secure Connection (SSL)"
No luck on it either, doesn't seem to find the server.
Anyone find a method that works for hotmail?
Works fine for me for my msn email account, I dont remember doing anything special either.

is your account hotmail "plus"...the one you can pay so you can have POP service?
also if you had hotmail for a long time (i think is more than 3 years), hotmail will grandfather your account to included POP for free..
Yeah, its got pop support, I've had it syncing fine on my droid and my gtab, but can't get it to go with on the transformer for some reason.
I have just a normal '@hotmail.com' (not a plus account) account. It works fine with that. Seemed to detect all the settings for me automatically.
Thats whats weird, is just inputting my user name and password in the add email account, get the warning setup could not finish, cannont connect to server and lights up the manual button.
Tried both pop and exchange settings, neither connects. This is the first device I've had problems with this. Does the same thing for both of my accounts, getting frustrated.
Don't know if this will help you or not but I've just checked the settings on mine. In the incoming settings section, the server it checks is 'm.hotmail.com' and it's using a secure socket layer (SSL) connection. 'Accept all SSL certificates' is unchecked. Good luck.
I got this fixed. It ended up being my password. I use Keepass on my computer and for android so it just uses randomly generated passwords. They worked fine on everything else but not this. Was getting fed up with the username/password not correct warning went in and changed it to something simpler and it finally connected.
Then took a couple of tries to get a new password out of keepass that would work, but finally got it. My guess is it wasn't liking the length?? I don't know but I'm up and running now.

Deleting emails from phone while keeping them on the server.

My sister recent went from a Blackberry to a Thunderbolt. She liked how on the BB she could delete an email off her phone and still keep it on the server and wants to know if it's possible to do this on the Tbolt. She doesn't use gmail. It's a Cox Communications email account. Is it possible to do this on Android?

Stolen from another forum (original post regarded an EVO - but likely applies to all Android OS phones.

Mail accounts use one of 3 protocols: Exchange, IMAP and POP. Both Hotmail (as of a few weeks ago) and Exchange use over-the-air (Active) sync technology so when you delete a message on your phone, it's removed from the server and thus your client program as well (web/Outlook). IMAP also supports a similar 2-way update.
In order to only delete messages off your phone but not the server, you need to set up your mail accounts with POP instead. POP downloads a copy of and sends mail to/from the server -- nothing else. Hotmail supports POP but your Exchange server may or may not (a lot of larger companies policies do not). You'd have to contact the Administrators to find that out.
If they don't allow POP on Exchange, then ask if they can forward a copy of your mail to another public mail service, like Gmail. Then you can add the Gmail account to your phone via POP.
Remember, if you still want to sync your Contacts and Calendar with Exchange, you need to keep those and just uncheck Mail instead of deleting the Exchange account entirely.

My 2c:
Not sure if it will work - I personally just delete on the fly, be damned the server. However, when I had an old LG v11000 (Envy Touch) I had the VZW email service on it - and even if I deleted from the phone, it was sitting on the server when I logged into Gmail. It was set up "POP3" style.
IF you go under mail/menu/more/settings/send & Receive you can check the box that says "delete mail on server" to turn it on or off. I turn it off so that it will leave a copy on the server but remove it from my phone.

I am having the same, or a similar problem. On my PC I use POP3 to access my mail; the ISP recommended using IMAP on the HTC (with different "in" and "out" mailbox settings for the HTC IMAP i.e. on the HTC two different settings for in and out). Was working fine but then found that messages I had received on my HTC were not appearing on my PC when I got home (my PC had been off, usually it is on, syncing every 2 minutes). I think this is because I had deleted them from my HTC in the meantime.
Trouble is, there is no setting ""delete mail on server" to check or uncheck under mail/menu/more/settings/send & receive, so I cannot follow the above advice. Only Mail size limit, Update schedule, Download options (it's not in there), Auto download message, Folder to sync, Reply with original text and Always bcc me.
What am I missing please ? Software says it is Android 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance.
I use K9 mail and go to more/settings/fetching mail/when I delete
I am flummoxed. I changed the HTC settings from IMAP to POP and did some tests; nothing being deleted ie still available on server. But when I looked at "Send and receive" options, I now have a list with 2 new option, inluding ""delete mail on server". It was not there before. Honest !!
I have been bak and re-set the thing to IMAP, and then the option about deleting from the server disappears again. So I am not going mad. But why should the options be different ?
low on memory
My father In-law has a Thunderbolt and is constantly having a low on memory issue on his phone.. When I go and look at his app's, his exchange is hogging up 2.6 gigs of memory while everything else (APPS) is using only KB'S of memory nothing big.. How would I be able to transfer his exchange email to the SD card,, He has a 32 gig card with 26 gigs of it being free.
Thanks for your help.
