Can I get this to work on T-Mobile? - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hello guys, I just bought a Fuze on ebay, locked to AT&T of course. But I have T-Mobile. I have already payed the person who will unlock it for me. But if I then install a new ROM will it still work with T-Mo? and what is a Radio? I saw it has been mentioned here quite often.
Sorry for being a noob

about Radio most roms comes with one installed already i suggest to get use to flashing new roms and from there you will understand more about Radio.Good luck.

Yes
Yes U can I flash several times a week using a T-mobile USA phone plan and so far Radio wise I get the best performance from 1.12.25.19. The latest one isn't bad either it depends where you live and some other stuff I can't really explain. I stay in Houston area incase that helps. Radio as to do with how your phone handles signal like gps etc. I suggest you read allot of threads to understand more things, be confident with what your doing before you flash

Hi Ali
As suggested by gguy- the radio is the part of the phone that communicates with the mobile phone network (and gps satelites). It is not a direct reference to the FM radio function.
Try to find a new radio based upon recommendations from others on the same carrier as you.
The quality of signal strength varies from one radio to another, what suits me might not suit you. It is worth noting that the radio will also have an impact on battery life as a weak signal will drain the battery faster.
On a locked phone you will only be able to use rapheal radios, if you unlock your phone you will be free to use the radios from some other phones.
Updating the radio leaves the rom as is and thus will not delete your files.

T-Mobile Rom or Cingular Rom??

i may sound stupid but i was wondering...
i am using T-Mobiles 2.26 Rom and tmobile has horrible reception @ my work and house i was justing wondering i flash my phone with a cingular rom and than to flash to any other rom like XDA M63 will i have any better reception??? and if so does anyone know where i can download the latest and best cingular rom??
You can find the latest OFFICIAL Cingular ROM on HTC's website. However, you will need to unlock your phone (if it isn't already) in order to flash another Carrier's ROM.
You might just want to try some different radios on the phone and check your reception before flashing a whole different ROM, though. Those can be found in the ftp section.
but in theory would it work?? i dnt want to have to flash me fone for no reason.. u know?? would i be able to use my tmobile service with cingular reception??

I believe what you WANT to be asking is can I flash a cingular RADIO only rom so I can get better reception while using my tmobile rom or XM6R3...the answer is yes..radio rom's are not provider dependent.
I don't think you'd want to run an actual cingular rom on your phone and then use it with tmobile...I suppose you could but you'd have to manually configure your gprs...mms etc.
mfrazzz explains the flashing process in his first post pretty well for XM6r3 but to recap. Flash Tmobile 2.26...flash whatever radio only rom you want..then flash XM6R3.

Just to clarify, you can flash the Radio after you have installed a custom rom like XM6r3 (you don't have to do it in that exact order). I've changed radios numerous times without reflashing the entire rom with no problems (as long as its a radio only rom).
just one more thing.. where can i find cingular radio only roms?? and is there anywhere i can look to see the differnece??

You can find several radio only rom's in mfrazzz's first post (notice how I keep pointing you back to that OVER and OVER?)...you can do a search on XDA to find the difference's in the various rom's but most of the results will be suibjective depending on carrier (tmobile, cingular) and location..your best bet is to try them and see which one works best in your particular situation.
hey, i got a question, where i work i get no reception but a friend with tmobile has full reception, he has a wing on wm6 and i have a hermes. is there anyway to get into the tmobile reception while im at work? like a progrtam?
Why don't you go and ask him what radio rom he's using.
It should show up in the 'device information' area of your settings folder.

Lets not forget that tower location for each carrier will play a big part in how good your signal is. Where you work there may be a T-Mo tower fairly close by giving your friend a great signal but on the edge of the coverage area for your carrier which is why you have no reception. You can change radio roms all day long and maybe see a little improvement, but it won't put you onto the T-Mo network (unless you can configure your phone to roam on the T-Mo network). I've got the reverse situation where I work; T-Mo gets no signal but US Cellular and Verizon both get decent strength.

Opinions on Radios for US AT&T FUZE phones?

I'm using the default 25.32 radio that came with my FUZE and my reception inside my condo is worse then it was with my Tilt. I'm wondering if there are any other radios that may be better (that are worth testing) on AT&T's US network.
I've seen a few radio threads but they seem to deal mostly with networks outside of the US which isn't very helpful. The radio needs to support 3G, GPS, and AT&T based roms like NATF's ROM.
Are there any radios other then the stock radio that may be better for reception (and heck... even battery life)?
Read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439566
All of the radios will work with AT&T, but every radio is different depending on carrier an location. Even though I have AT&T, the radio that works best where I live may not be the best for you.
If you're security unlocked (or don't mind paying the $20 to get unlocked), then you can try any of the Diamond radios or the Blackstone radio in that thread.
I've tried about 5 different radios from that thread and so far the Blackstone radio seems to have the best signal for me and the clearest calls. It gives me about 1 bar more than any other radio I've tried.
I was having connect issues, along with others. I switched to the Diamond Radio 1.09.25.23. I have a better reception and also switched to NATF's 2.1
Sorry for the newby post: checked your link first, but still asking:
Are these ROMs that replace the F/W on the "cell-phone radio" transmitter/receiver, or have something to do with the FM Tuner (FM Radio)? I assume it's the former, and if so, what's the advantage to trying the F/Ws of different carriers?
oh, and is there anyway to get around teh $20 unlock fee?

These ROMs replace the radio firmware for cell signal, wifi, bt, gps, etc, not anything with the FM tuner.
The advantage is that different radios have different settings and some work better than others for certain people. While the AT&T .32 radio was ok with me, I find the Blackstone radio better.
For the unlock fee, there's no way around it, but you don't need to be security unlocked if you use one of the HTC Raphael radios. If you want to try a Diamond or Blackstone radio, then you need to be security unlocked.
So you could try all of the Raphael radios and see which one of those works better for you.

Wierd kaiser radio issue

I have been experimenting with various kaiser radios recently. I have had good success with almost every radio I try BUT about every 45 minutes I will no longer be able to send/receive text messages, make or receive phone calls... In order to re-establish connectivity I must pull the battery, but it back in. power the phone back up, I will be told I have no service. Then I must once again pull the battery and try again. Usually on the second try I will get a signal. At that point its anything but reliable, it will drop connectivity, but still report a signal anywhere form 5-30 minutes after.
Currently Im running the official 3.34.721.2 WWE rom, 1.65.21.18 radio, and SPL-1.0.OliPof. I have a kaiser 130, unbranded, and my carrier is AT&T.
The issue existed with pdacorner v18, and every 1.7x.xx.xx I tried.
What am I missing?
My first guess would be your SPL, it's hella old. Try upgrading that to one from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420683
3.29 is most recommended one for newer roms
ok, flashed 3.29 hard2, i will have a status report in 30 (ish) minutes
Ok I tested the SIM in another phone, just for quality control. I no longer even get a signal. I tried both the 1.65.21.18 and the 1.71.09.01 radios. I also hard reset just for good measure for both radios. is there some kind of master-reset for the radio? i am going to leave the battery out for the rest of the evening.
After leaving the kaiser with the battery out for 6 hours, I still have the same issues. It plain doesn't make sense. Does anyone have any ideas?
reflash the stock at&t wm6.0 rom let it go threw its set up and all, then reflash the stock att 6.1 rom! i had similar issue with my phone at one time and just reflashing att 6.1 didnt fix it, had to do att6.0 then att6.1 then i was back up and running
Ok, I flashed the oldest wm6 wwe rom I could find. The problem did not get any better, I can no longer use wifi. What is the cause of this nonsense!!
similar problem here, but I had not updated the phone at all at this point. This week I've now tried AT&Ts official 6.1, HTC 3.34.721.2 with radio 1.70.19.09, nothing works.
Where about in the country are you guys located? Also, we should take this discussion to the radio thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182
Please answer these for us:
Location!!!! Be specific, ie Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Also, what is the exact current state of your phone? ROM info, Radio info, Hard SPL info.
As well, what phone were you using previous to the Tilt, or is it a problem that just surfaced? I know that if you don't have an AT&T 3G SIM card, it will have major issues if you try to use it with a 3G phone.

Sell your Tilt and but a Tracfone. J/K
Same Issues
I'm having the same issues as the OP. I'm in Dallas, TX and I've tried different radios on several ROMs.
Currently I'm using radio 1.65.24.36. I've tried 1.71.09.01 and 1.65.16.25 also.
I'm attempting to flash back to an ATT OEM ROM, but judging from the OPs posts it seems like it might be a waste of time. My sim card is 3G and the phone was purchased in November. I might try getting the sim replaced and see what that does.

It is a known problem with AT&T 3G services in cebteral Texas... it is a bit of an insider's secret. There is an excellent thread on www.phonescoop.com where AT&T emoyees discuss the matter. It is also prevalent in other areas of the country, and is a result of the switching boards for the 3G service not talking with one another properly.
Finding the right radio does make a difference, but it wil not be miraculous in it's improvement. I will post a link to the thread when i get a chance tomorrow afternoon, but if you go to phonescoop on your own, do a search of the forum for AT&T centeral texas and itshould bring it up in the first couple of results.
Here is the direct link for the thread talking about this:

Best radio for T-Mobile users?

I've done some searching and have found other users who are using the phone with t-mobile but could not find any comparison of which might be the best radio version to use on this phone. I'm aware that the data speed is limited to edge, not really concerned about that.
Any T-Mobile users have experience with the various radios?

Radios are based on your region and where you are located. Radios are not going to give you that WOW factor my service is better. Your best bet is to call your carrier and see what radio shipped with the phone. Dont know if tmobile sells the inspire but you can call an at&t store and see what radio ships with it or even stop by a store fake the funk your shopping and look in about phone in one of their phones to see radio in it.
I never change radios on my phone no matter what the current rom Im using recommends. Tried it and got really shi**y service so now I stick with stock radio that came with phone.

Radio advice/help needed!

So I recently got an Inspire, coming from a Vibrant. I have T-mobile service. On the Vibrant, in the same location, I had superb cell signal. On this Infuse, it's more than terrible.
I know it's designed to be an ATT phone, and the internal hardware won't pick up certain T-Mobile bands, but I have also had a couple other unlocked phones that got better signal than this.
I can literally set the Vibrant down on the table with 3-4 bars of service, and the Infuse next to it with Emergency Only or an X (no signal). In other random spots I can get a couple bars, but very spotty. Sometimes I'll have a couple of bars, and literally not move an inch and lose signal. That's frustrating!
I know I can't get 3g-4g speeds. Not an issue with me, I use wireless, but I do want to figure out how to make and receive phone calls.
I unlocked using Ace, and let it run for a few days before making any other changes. Today I flashed Android Revolution HD 6.3.3, and then flashed the recommended radio about an hour later. (used the fastboot method described in the radio's readme, the RIL was included in the Rom)
So my signal is slightly better, but only barely. Still very unreliable.
I guess my hope is, to gain some insight as to how the radio even works, so I can start to learn the differences in them, and find one that works better.
Is there any hope that I will find one that is suitable?
Can anyone recommend radios/a solution?
I also wonder, since the Desire has compatible radios, and they are used in Europe, if they may pick up T-Mobile USA signals better.
Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for your help and advice!
P.S. I know its been discussed before, however, I've read hours and hours worth of posts, and in the end I decided asking was definitely worth it. Ya'll are smart!
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA
Radios react differently for everyone cause they are actually based on regions as to where your at. But there are positive responses on the .03 , .28 and .30 radios. Give them a shot and try them out each for about a few days and see how they work for you. Development section has a radio thread you can get them from.
Just remember flash radios at your own risk, they are a little riskier than flashing roms. Good luck
