I have just rooted my CDMA Hero and I flashed the Fresh 2.0d ROM using the flash recovery amon RA method. Now when I go to the recovery image(hold home during boot) it is back to HTC's default. Do I need to re-flash the RA recovery image? If so, do I need to use the adb method since flash-rec has been blocked since 1.5?
EDIT:
Question was answered by another post today:
To get to RA after flashing Fresh:
1) Press power while holding down volume.
2) Press Home
htc hero - SPRINT model
I've succesfully "one-click" rooted my phone. (i followed unlockr)
I succesfully dropped the fresh 1.1 "update.zip" file onto my SD card.
I then booted to "Fastboot mode" using the "down-volume + power" method.
I proceed to click "home" for recovery mode.
My phone hits a hiccup and gets stuck at a black screen with the text "htc" logo in the middle of the screen. It does not proceed to screen to allow me to run "update.zip" to flash the new fresh1.1
I don't have a hero, but could that just be the stock recovery screen? You might need to flash a custom recovery for your device.
Well, watching this video (Cant post)youtube.com/watch?v=hdmkTFAG3PM
at time = 4:08 is the exact part where my screen is locked at.
Its not bricked or anything. I can still boot and it runs the original OS (android 1.5)
I just followed your steps and mine sat on the black screen for a few seconds, but then works fine. You did answer a question I had about how to get to RA though, so thanks for that. Did you boot once before trying to go to recovery mode. I know the fresh site says it can take up to 5 min for the first boot.
RA - 1.5.2
Fresh - 2.0d
I waited for approx 4-5 min. Still, it hung at that htc logo screen.
I exactly followed the steps. After I had flashed the recovery image, I immediately proceeded to power down the phone. Then, I pressed downvolume+home, and entered into HBOOT mode. I pressed home for recovery. Still, no luck. I followed these steps exactly, downloaded the exact files, placed exactly on sdcard. Still hangs out that logo screen and does not proceed to the recovery screen.
Before I run the recovery, should I press HOME+POWER and completely wipe/reset my phone? Then I have to take out battery, Press DOWNVOLUME+POWER and enter into recovery mode? (In the instructional video, this is NOT DONE.)

I did HOME+POWER after flashing the recovery Image (which should take you to the RA recovery. After you whipe and flash your ROM if you do this it will show the HTC screen that just whipes data and you have to follow the method you listed in your post.
These are the exact steps I followed:
1) Use flashRec to back up and flash the recovery image (RA-1.5.2)
2) Reboot HOME+POWER
3) Whipe > Whipe data/factory reset
4) Flash ZIP from sdcard > Select the ROM you want to flash (Fresh 2.0d)
5) Reboot system now (this can take up to 5 min)
6) To flash patch like vanilla lock screen patch boot with VOL DWN+POWER then press HOME to get back to RA.
A few of the above steps within RA require you to press HOME to confirm the action.
I can't boot into recovery mode. Typically on my G2x, I hold the power and volume down button. I've been into recovery mode on this phone to flash CM7 and it worked fine. However, it randomly entered recovery mode when I booted it, allowing me to flash the rom. I'm trying to flash gapps now and power+volume down, power+volume up+down, and power+x, then search aren't working. Can you let me know how you boot into recovery mode?
See f.ex. http://droid.koumakan.jp/wiki/Android_Recovery — there are different approaches for 2.4.x and 4.5.x.
You also won't get to CWM this way, only stock recovery which only allows factory reset, cache wipe, and official update installation over clean stock firmware.

So how do I install the gapps zip if I can't boot into CWM? After flashing CM7, there are no stock apps (no marketplace).
Boot into CM7. Press the Lock/Power button. Choose “Reboot”, and then “Recovery”.
sometimes pressing camera button while powering up will boot into cwm
or press camera while connecting charger
Hi, i have installed the Unofficial AOKP Rom ( This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2089270 ) on my HTC EVO 3D GSM. The problem is that the phone enter in a infinte boot, after che HTC logo appear the Nexus logo (a colored cross that shine), and seems that he is loading... but after 20 minutes he is continue. Can we help me?
P.s. sorry for my bad english, if you don't understand something write me and i try to explain better.
Sounds like you may not have had the very latest recovery flashed before trying any custom 4.2.1 ROM, I recommend the very latest TWRP.
You need to boot to recovery, you can do this via adb with "adb reboot recovery" during the bootloop or even boot directly to recovery, probably something like holding the down arrow when you turn on the phone to get into hboot, then navigating to "recovery"
from there you can load the very latest TWRP zip and flash, or you can flash from fastboot, THEN do a full wipe + cache + dalvik, flash AOKP, do another wipe just to make sure, flash gapps, then reboot.
I I just rooted and installed CM but it stays at a black screen my home button is out so I just need a way to boot in recovery from there wouldn't a wipe do the job ? I'd install a custom ROM them Gapps
