I have a S621, and it has been giving me issues, so the company is upgrading it for me.
I have the following windows mobile choices available
1. HTC Diamond
2. HTC TyTN II
3. HTC Touch Dual
My data plan has been pulled due to budget cuts, but may be instated in future. not surre..
so I rely on the WIFI to get my email using Seven/Lotus notes.
The diamond specs said it has GPS, does it need DAta servicefor that?
TYTNII say it has GPS too, does it work like diamond?"
the part I like about tytnis the full keyboard. and touch screen both. thats why I like this one, and leaning towards it.
Touch Duo the keyboard is not full.
I listen to music a lot so they have to support that.
the touch features are great too.
here are my choices
http://www.cincinnatibell.com/business/wireless/phones_and_devices/
the others are
Pantech DUO
I would go with the Diamond 2 if you don't need a keyboard! See the Topaz section of this forum for details & info...

Guys, i have two devices, diamond and tytn I pro. Anybody who had this 2 devicesx, have ever compared the displays?
I noticed, that the qvga display is much better than vga. Yes thats the vga has smoother images..but the qvga is more sharper and brighter coloured, i mean ith has brighter colours than vga.
Fiirst i saw it at the start menu, when i was searching at the programs, i noticed that the tytn has much brghter white backgroung behind the icons that my diamond. the diamonds white was almost yellow compared to the tytn's qvga screen...
The second thing, when i installed m2d on tytn, it was much faster than the m3d on my diamond, and almost nothing differenc beetven the 2 interfaces...
also i saw some videos with tytn II and some new roms, the performances are suber..
now i want to sell my diamond and get a tytn II...
khmmm..anybody knows why is that on my diamond the white bckgroung not is bright at my tytn?

Absolutely has everything but won't have xda dev support
thank you
appreciate your insights !!!!
Hmmm...... okay, you have a choice of
Diamond
Kaiser
Touch Dual
Okay, I would get the Diamond II......no...no...the Samsung Omnia Pro, ......or the Nokia n97....
I am totally biased , but the Kaiser is the best phone I have ever had, business wise and personal.

Get this one, the tilting screen is a must, and I think it's worth sacrificing for diamond features.

omg, a tilt screen is a scrren witha screen protector or whats that at the upper right corner?
sorry but i dont heard yet about "tilt"
If you need a physical keyboard then TyTn II else you can go for Diamond...
Tilting screen (the one on the end)
I'm not sure if Tytn II comes with HTC Home or Touchflo, but if it comes with HTC Home, then there is one big advantage: You will be able to use all kinds of plugins on the start screen without disabling the HTC interface. This way you'll be able to show birthdays, todos and so on on the Start Screen, with Touchflo/Diamond this is not possible without disabling the Touchflo interface.
But I'm not sure if you've had a look at the Tytn II in real live. It is pretty thick, not very well sized for your pants' pockets.

Hi all,
Noob question: Whats the HTC name for the Motorola MPx? I tried looking, but hitting a brick wall. Even the HTC website doesn't list it down.
And any idea if WM5 has been successfully installed on the MPx?
Um...it's not an HTC, it's a Motorola?
Mmm... do excuse my ignorance, the MPx isnt a very common device to begin with.
Seeing that this forum has many mods/comments for the different types of HTCs, does that mean there really isnt much for the MPx in this forum then?
as far as I know MPx(at least 200) was made by HTC, and only branded motorola. But i think it was of course made based on contract that probably made MPx 200 exclusive branded only motorola.

As far as I know, the never-really-released (okay, it was released on some asian markets and there are tons of engineering samples out there) MPx is a Motorola device, not a HTC one.

Yes WM5 can be installed on MPx200 for sure, probably to MPx220 as well. But part of the system is on storage card.

He is talking about the MPx, also known as MPx300. It was a vaporware device: the release date was pushed further and further and in the end it was only released in a few asian countries, however there are quite some engineering samples out there. It was a really nice concept (portrait AND landscape clamshell) with great design, a QVGA screen, a keyboard and WM2003SE however it had only 32 mb memory (after a hard reset, it had like 8 mb ram available for everything) and a slow processor. It was overhyped, and there were rumors of a 64 mb version, which never came to reality.

(and no, there is no WM5 out there for it as far as I know)
Not to mention it was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overpriced for what it was. Anyway, I think you'd probably do better checking howardforums.com and seeing what they have over there for the motorolas. From there you could probably find a site specific to them. You'll also notice that there isn't much here for the Treo, either. pcgeeks.com might have better coverage for you, too.
sorry i didnt know that he's talking about 300. there are 3MPx - MPx200, MPx220, MPx300, he didnt wrote which one he's speaking about. Because 200 & 220 are most common i guessed its about them. btw i'm 90% sure that MPx200 was made by HTC.

He did not write "what device he was talking about" because that is the actual name of the device. The "Motorola MPx" actually was its final name. MPx300 was more of less just a rumor or at most an early internal name for the device.
Sorry, you are incorrect. The MPx200 was not made by HTC or Motorola. It was made by another Windows CE device ODM named Chei Mei Communication Systems (CMCS) of Taiwan. Both the MPx200 and MPx220 were made by Chei Mei Communications rather than HTC. As for the MPx, I'm not 100% sure but I would not be surprised if they were also the ODM for that device.
CMCS's ODM codename for the MPx200 was the "Beethoven". This is also why many of the ROMs for the MPx200 have names such as "BEN-XXX".
Here are some interesting photos I found of the unbranded Chei Mei version from before Motorola announced they would sell it:
http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,111839-page,1/article.html
Cool stuff!
I'm not sure, but I think that HTC was an ODM on the mpx200.
EDIT: oops, nvm
Hello others!
What do you think of the follow two new models of HP?
The IPAQ 600 and the IPAQ 900.
I like the IPAQ 600 very much and at this moment I doubt between this device and the HTC TyTN II (Kaiser). Should I use the whole keyboard of the TyTN II?
Another thing about to doubt is the (tweaking) support of the device here on xda-dev.

What's your opinion?
Nobody?
Has nobody an opinion?
I will be getting my TyTn II in about a week from now. It is on its way from Dubai.
Probably the only reason I had not seriously considered the Ipaq 600 before ordering the TyTn II is the availability of the 600 as yet. Had this been available on the shelves, ready for delivery, my decision could have been different.
The full QWERTY keyboard on the TyTn is also probably one of the things which make me favour the TyTn II over the Ipaq. Nevertheless with recently introduced SIP's such as Pocket CM and TouchPal the advantage of a full QWERTY versus the bulk and mechanical complexity it adds is worth considering.
Regards
I'd get IPAQ600
Cuz i've been waiting, and waiting....currently am in HK...personally i do no think keypad is a must on ppc, for the past yrs i've used few ppc without keypad, so i'm like used to it...hehe....but then the HTC Tynty is good of course...hehe...
cheerz
not sure
due to Kaizer will be full supported from independent developer, however in my opinion it's looks not so good,
HP are good looking, but HP have been blocked on itself, bad support (update)
The other thing that goes in favour of the Kaiser is that HTC has a reputation of a good build quality. They have gradually improved their build quality and now HTC devices are at par to the best e.g. Nokia definitely has no better build quality than HTC.
Now for the ipaq I am not sure who is the manufacturer. I have heard it is Techfaithwireless. I may not trust their build quality until I have actually seen the devices in the mass market and we have some reviewers comments. So it is a long uphill battle for HP. They have to re-establish themselves in a market dominated by HTC. Now it is entirely up to HP how well they manage their product quality and support. They may or may not win.
And finally will the HP devices receive the kind of support from this community like the HTC devices ???
Regards
When will these 600 / 900 Series devices finally ship?
Some 6 months (!) later ... and these devices are still not officially launched.
Does anybody know when HP plans to start shipping these?
Also, given such an extensive delay and the availability of Windows Mobile 6.1, will the 600 / 900 Series be made available with 6.1 (either from launch or via upgrade later)?
I read this week that HP will not provide upgrades to 6.1 for "available devices". Question is how that applies to the 600 / 900, one can interpret it either way ...
Thanks.
The 600 series is already launched for the rest of the world except USA. I already have mine (Ipaq 614C) which I got from www.clove.co.uk
Thanks

Hi,
I'm using the 614c for almost 2 months now. It's a good solid machine. Moreover, there's a rather well running iPAQ forum on http://www.modaco.com/category/87/Pocket-PC-Device-Specific/

Hi,
I'm currently using the O2 Orbit (original) phone, and have really enjoyed my time with it. HOwever, I am now due an upgrade
I am debating between the Stellar and the Orbit 2. I don't miss the keyboard on the Orbit (had the Mini IIs prior, which had keyboard of course), but I wouldn't be too depressed to have one. As far as I can see, there's not much to seperate the two phones, but from user experience, which one would you buy, and why?
(or can someone think of any other alternatives?)
A.
Hi,
I found the Kaiser (o2 Stellar) very bulky, that's why I changed. Also fm radio on orbit II, better touch flo experience. Check out the new ppc's from the Barcelona WMC2008. maybe u ll find something worth waiting for. but in any case, i don't think they will be in stock with any operator soon enough for ur upgrade. i d go for the orbit II.

I'm slightly worried about the Polairs' video driver issue... or is this not so much of a problem?
kaiser and polaris suffer from the same driver thing
people report that htc have bulged and will pay qualcom for the driver
they so far been too cheap to pay for
otherwise another possiblity could be other devices comming out using the same chip
like toshiba
Definitely go fot the Polaris, man! I'm tellin' ya
It's slimmer, more solid, and pretty And if you don't miss the keyboard of the Mini S (heh, I also had one, then changed it for a Neo (Prophet) and didn't miss the keyboard ), the Polaris is maybe the best PPC out there.
My opinion - BioTouch is much better than an old touch screen combined with a hw keyboard. And with the number of the input apps out there, it's the ultimate choice.
Tried Opera 9.5 yesterday - amazing. This browser makes your PPC the ultimate mobile internet device and combined with the BioTouch it simply rocks!
Which is a better PDA

Benefits of XDA II
400 mhz processor
128mb ram
normal SD Card slot
Benefits of XDA Mini S
Full qwerty keyboard
Wifi (B/G)
Stand-by Up to 200 h
Talk time Up to 5 h
Camera 1.3 MP, 1280x960 pixels, video, flash (as opposed to XDA II's VGA Cam)
v2.0 bluetooth
smaller phone
Personally i owned a xda mini s and loved it - so much that my upgrades have led me to the XDA Trion (upgrade from xda mini s but downgrade from xda stellar)
but its all preference i love it due to the keyboard and wifi.
Thanks

correct!
It means SDIO Wifi Cards which means you cannot have a SD card and wifi at the same time.
It says
Features:
Bluetooth, Camera, Email/Web, Expansion Slot, MP3 Player, Phone Capability, Speaker(s), WLAN/WiFi
The description has just been copied from somewhere.
Yeah, can't go wrong with the mini S even though it's a bit slower and the screen is smaller. The form factor is much better.
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomparer&id1=68&id2=331
Plus it adds WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 (1.1 on the XDA II)
hmm o2's website says the xda II has wifi too..
this is getting confusing haha
i would still of chose the mini S though, but you have bought the xdaII now so no worries - could you possibly clarify if the xda II has wifi?
cheers
I had the Mini S - actually it was a T-Mobile branded MDA Vario. Out of all the phones with slide out keyboards I found it the most usable - the spacing between the keys makes it easy to type with. I did find the device to be very slow and unresonponsive though, particularly with the operator's original ROM - when I unlocked it and flashed WM6 ROMs from the Wizard forum I found performance improved considerably.
Most of the time it performed well - wifi was good - I found connection to my home router very simple and straight forward. Still found web browsing painfully slow though. And the screen is pretty small for most web pages.
Quite liked it - it was my first PDA phone - I'd always had separates in the past. I did get a little tired of it though, and found that I didn't use the keyboard as much as I thought I would - I've just ordered a new phone without a keyboard this time and bigger screen.

I will tell everyone if it has WIFI or not. If it doesnt the seller is screwed.
It did not have Wifi.
He said he would refund as he made a mistake.
I asked for £10 off.
I got the XDA II new cond inc delivery for £30.
Any good?
i am suprised he gave a refund.. due to the fact he stated "optional Wireless LAN capabilities..."
nevermind, worked out well for you
is a good deal to be honest, cant go wrong with a pda phone for £30..
mini S would have costed more to get anyway.

I have not had the pleasure of playing with a Xperia but I love my Fuze (Touch Pro). I went from an 8525 ot a Tilt and now a Fuze and I absolutely love it! It has so much storage memory that I no longer have to install my programs on my storage card.
I have two friends that went for the Xperia. Both never had a WM before.
They like it.
I have TP, I've played quite some time with their Xperias... I am keeping my TP.
Thanks guys, sticking to the TouchPro i think, The xperia has a mixed variety of reviews.
Cheers, D
Depend on which provider you are going for, I have the Sprint varient and I love it much more over my old Titan. But since you are taking about the Xperia X1, I would think you want GSM. The Fuze shouldn't be that bad, but make sure IF you decide to go with the X1, go for the US varient from Sony if you reside in the US, I have head about a lot of compatibility issues with the X1. The Fuze on the other hand is not widescreen, but still quite beautiful in its own glossy way and is cheaper. The Sony ericsson too is sexy in a distinct way. It'll all up to personal preference, whether you want a full 5 row qwerty keyboard, or a wide screen with brushed metal as the extra perk when you get the phone. Either way it is a good choice, and there are tons of people on this site who can help you with both phones.
Read some reviews, and youtube videos, or check them out in person. The only one who knows what phone you want is you... Good luck!
Many thanks u8myfoood, Network will be O2 as i reside in Scotland in the UK, had a look at the 2 of them and the TouchPro(Serra) is winning hands down at the moment, was just wondering if it was fast and stable as they make out ??
Cheers, D
Well ther might be different views that you'll see people has about both phone, but just to say, touch pro has g-sensor which x1 don't have. well i have touch pro as you might have seen on my signature and avatar well im very sattisfied.. all is working really great and smooth..the touch pro have 3d accelerator (do x1 has that?).. well i'm a gamer too and touch pro is perfect for that, (i play cod2 without any problems hehe and tony hawk pro skater 2 ) well another thing is that touch pro has a 5 row qwert keyboard which x1 doesn't have.. you have to use the function key on x1 to get to the numbers.. well x1 has larger screen i guess..
Many thanks you guys, this is certainly made my mind up, New TouchPro for me is on its way. Just out of curiosity, when using the artemis with manilla 2D i can change themes etc using M2DC, is it the same or do i need software for TouchPro 3D ???

Cheers Guys, very helpful indeed. You'll all probably hear from me when i receive it just to keep me right on things, been used to my artemis for so long now so i guess it's a bit antiquated.
Many Thanks, D
Ok just had the chance to play around with a Xperia X1. I am really disappointed in Sony. This device looked very promising but to me was not acceptable. The Sony was very unresponsive and sloooow. Even with a cooked ROM and tweaked out it was very unimpressive. My Fuze absolutely screams with [WWE]RRE HTC Fuze ROM Ver 4.4.5 Special Edition on it. My buddy who bought the X1 is not a happy camper. I told him to go for the Fuze.
droy68, I hope you like your Pro when it arrives : )
A week ago my friend gave me his Artemis to upgrade the ROM to one with Manila 2D. I was amazed how quickly the interface worked. It's actually a bit more responsive than TouchFlo 3D is on my Pro's standard ROM.
Also, I loved the the scroll wheel, it's brilliant! As you may miss this, it may be worth pointing out that you can enable the touch scroll on the Pro to be active in more programs than it is by default. You need to add entries for each application in the registry under HKLM\Software\HTC\SmartTouch... See this thread for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406206. Alternatively, I think both Diamond Tweak and Schap's advanced config 3.3 can do it for you. I prefer to add things manaully so I can see what's going on : )
Finallly, if you miss the finger friendly contact page of Touch Flo 2D. You can always install a VGA version of Manila 2D instead of using TouchFlo 3D. I haven't tried this myself yet....
