Is there a way to use the unknown sender number or a number inside the sms and to call these numbers without ever adding the sender number to contacts list first, just like in nokia phones

Don't underline number in messages

If in the body of a (text)message a number is displayed, it is underlined and you can click it. A pop-up comes and ask if the number is correct and you can dial that number. Is there a way to turn this feature of or limit it to SMS messages only?

Number format for sms in WM 6.1

Hi,
I have my numbers in outlook stored in the default format for Outlook 2007 namely +44 0123456789. This makes click to dial in outlook work perfectly and calling on my mobile is fine. The down side is sending a text results in a message saying
"Sorry Destination number format incorrect. Valid number prefixes are +447958879879 or 00447958879879 or from within the UK 07958879879 This message is free"
So... My question is, is there a way around this? Changing the number format means click to dial doesn't work and anyway it is a lot of work to go through my conatcts changing all the numbers to a format that does work.
mm click to dial will work using +441234 5678903 for example, i use it all the time so im unsure why it does not work for you, unless you use your PC's outlook for direct dialing, in which case that is a problem.
There is a peice of software that Deedee had recommended one time not too long ago, but cant remember if it would help you.
I will have a dig around.
Chow.
The number your message has quoted is the UK One2One free SMS text forwarding number. Outbound text messages are routed through another mobile number on your telco's network.
From the Phone Dialing screen.
Menu->Options
Click the Services Tab, then then "Voice Mail and Text Messages" in the dropdown box, and then click Get Settings...... Takes a few seconds to retrieve the info.
Check this number is entered correctly otherwise your messages aren't going anywhere.
timmymarsh, I am using the default outlook dialer. I have discovered that when I have the number in outlook format +44 0123456789 it says the number dialled will be 9 0123456789 (in the new call form i click dialling properties), which is correct. If i change the format so texting works in wm 6.1 to +44 123456789 then in outlook it says the number dialled will be 9 123456789 which of course is wrong. From your last post it doesnt sound as if you think i can get the phone to text if i leave the number format as +44 0123456789, but have to change all the number formats of the numbers i have entered and work on outlook to click to dial correctly?
stephj, My problem is not sending texts but sending them when numbers are stored in the default outlook format of +44 0123456789. If i save it as +44 123456789 i can send a text no problem but click to dial in outlook doesnt work.

Click to collapse
I understand that you are using the default outlook dialer and i assume the default contacts app. What i dont understand is when using +44 1234 (do not put an 0 in front of the number) is why it is telling you it will dial 9 12345678. THis is obviously not right and should not happen.
As i have said i use the +44 1234 dialing properties all the time, always works from a mobile (just never a landline obviously).
Had you installed some other contacts app? messed around with dialers at some time? I think there is a conflict happening somewhere, but with knowing what you have installed, or previously installed it is difficult to know.
One last thing, do you have your regional settings set to your proper location, ie UK etc?

[Q]Forward select numbers to Google Voice.

Is there a way to choose a contact that whenever they call it is forwarded to my google voice number.
IE: this company somehow got a hold of my cell phone number(unfortunately not my GV number) and calls me about 3-4 times a week. They don't leave a message or anything. So i am looking for a way to be able to forward this contact to my GV number with the "this number has been disconnected" message.
any ideas?
Thanks.
this is how I've done it:
Set GV as your voicemail, then add the contact with the "send to voicemail" option on your phone (view contact, menu > options and check the send to voicemail box) and of course mark the number as spam on GV. works for me just fine.
otherwise, get a blacklist application. don't always work but they are nice in most cases.

Messager's name not displayed even when sender is entered as contact.

Why do some messages not have contacts' names on them, just phone number that they were sent from, even though they are entered as contacts?

How to block an SMS which has no number?

SMS Spam and text messages with trojans and viruses has gotten so bad that I have had to block all SMS except those in my contact list. I use 'Should I Answer' for the SMS blocking.
I get SMS text alerts from several banks with no problem (they normally have a 6 digit number). But one bank has no number and is only identified by what appears to be an email address.
Unfortunately a Contact list does not allow an alphabetical input in the phone number field of the contact list. I question how they can even send an SMS message without a number. I've tried asking the bank for help but they seem clueless about this.
Is there a way to determine what number is being used to send these alerts? I found a number they claim on their website is used for SMS but when entering it in the contact list it is still blocked. I can't get any alerts from that bank due to their use of an email address in place of a number. Any suggestions?
