E650 GPRS settings correct but no internet! Please Help! - HTC Vox

Hi, I am desperately attempting to get my SPV E650 connected to the internet! All the GPRS settings are set up right to my knowledge, I have had the right settings sent out from Orange UK. Internet explorer is set to "automatically detect settings" and "the internet" is my selected network. I have tried relashing different roms and updating to latest Radio 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 radio but I get the same "Failed to connect to the internet. Data coverage may be unavailable." If I delete all settings then I get a different error message " Your internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify settings in Connections" but as said even when I do set them up I still receive an error!
I am at my wits end with this thing as have flashed and reflashed and still no joy and the bin is looking a good option for this little phone!
Please could someone offer any help or suggestions?

try this
insert different sim provider try gprs if that work then oak or change authentication type from gprs setting hope work both

As for changing the authentication type I tried changing it from the default "None" to "PAP" and "Chap" but neither worked! When Internet Explorer tries to connect the "G" icon flashes on on off a couple of times but just wont connect! This has absolutely confused me! Anything else???

ok sure ill delete all the settings and try manually enter them, are you also with UK Orange? If not ill look for the settings and enter them. Im using the new Windows Mobile 6.5 Beta rom with the 4.1.13.54_03.10.90 radio. Strangely it did briefly work once I reflashed the radio to this new one (was able to get weather update on phone) but then didn't afterwards and was back to square one! Anything else I can try with this phone? Is there a suggested rom to work with my E650 or any other settings I don't know about? Its just weird how when I try to connect the "G" icon flashes on briefly but then fails to connect. Another strange thing is I installed Skyfire and whilst it didn't connect, it once changed the icon to the "G", I just don't get it!

would a proxy setting help me connect to the internet? Also it may sound real obvious but just to confirm when choosing the network in which it connects it is "The internet" and not anything like "WAP" is it?

the strange thing is that internet explorer is set that way, i have reflashed the 6.5 rom and also fireburned, mona lisa and neo 6.1 rom and still nothing. With these different roms, h have tried manually entering the gprs settings, had them set up when Orange sent them to my phone and alos used the connection setup application and still nothing. I have even tried as said flashing the latest rom but still nothing either! I am totally stuck as to why this is not working, orange say everythings ok at their end and so it must be a problem with my phone.....somewhere!

first unlocked ur sim locked phone then try another gprs sim for internet if that work then okay so u face that two problem either ur setting are not correct or ur provider stop ur gprs so i suggest u put ur orange sim to any nokia s60v3 phone for correct setting if that sim gprs also not work in nokia s60v3 with correct setting then ur gprs service not activate on ur sim if u have not want unlocked ur phone or no near s60v3 nokia phone for check then try another orange sim for gprs try this all

Hi, problem solved!! I tried my sim in my girlfriends phone and it didnt work in that either so it had to of been a problem with orange, so i rang up again and the person actually realised that my gprs wasnt activated there! Its beyond me how the original guy didnt notice that before attempting to read out my phones manual etc!
Many thanks for help,
Craig

Well I'm willing to bet the first guy didn't check the sim was provisioned with gprs and fairly safe bet itwas someone in india.
I'm not racist but many of them have not had the proper training since they started to handle most of the helpdesk queries.
When I worked at orange every time they put someone through to us from india they hadn't checked things properly.
Checking the sim was set up with gprs is the FIRST thing they should have done

Problems with uk T-mobile GPRS settings for Treo 750

Hello guys
Please help! I've just got my Palm Treo 750v unlocked. The phone works fine on T-mobile but I can't get a GPRS connection. I've tried changing the settings and setting up a new t-mobile GPRS connection but i still can't get it connected.
I seem to have a wap contract connection (I presume this is preinstalled by Vodafone and must be Windows reg related) which always overides when i reboot the Palm.
If you can help I would be really grateful

1) go to start / settings / connections
2) if an existing connection exists click manage existing connections or add a new modem connection
3) if existing connection click edit or tap New
4) enter name - e.g. T-Mobile Inter.
5) select a modem - cellular line (GPRS, 3G)
6) access point name - general.t-mobile.uk
7) user name - t-mobile
8) password - one2one
9) click finish
you should be good to connect now
btw - you can always call t-mobile for support - they are really helpful
I tried this but after entering the name and modem the Treo asks 'Enter the number exactly as it should be dialed.'. What number do I put in here? I then tried using GPRS instead and I just get 'No modem at the above number.'.

If it is asking for a number, it sounds like you are setting up a WAP connection and not a GPRS connection.

What are the proxy settings for Cingular Palm 750 with T-Mobile UK sim card?
I've unlocked my Cingular Palm Treo 750 and can make voice calls without any problem.
I still can't access the internet.
I've entered the settings and when I launch the browser, it first show 'locating' and then 'opening' in the status bar, but the web page never opens.
I know that with Cingular there were some proxy settings and so I wonder if I need to enter any here.
The proxy fields are:
1. This network connects to the internet
2. This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
3. Proxy Server (name)
4. Http:
5. WAP
6. Secure WAP
7. Socks

Anyone else got their GPRS to be dead when upgrading to Faria's ROM?

No GPRS for me Even upgraded Radio ROM and still no dice.... is there a fix for this or am I doomed?
Actually - i can send texts so seems like this is some sort of a WM6 bug... anyone?

Mine works. Where are you? Which provider? Which phone? etc etc.
--M
GPRS worked straight away for me after installing this ROM. Did you select the right provider when you setup your phone? You can rerun that (to verify) by going to Start > Programs > Accessories > Operator cfg (The phone will have to do a soft reset after this runs).
if u use T-Mobile change to wap.voicestream.com
My GPRS died as well. I had to flash the rom and the radio multiple times. I am using T-Mobile US. Radio 2.19.

The two arrows and the "X" means your Wi-fi is on, but cant find any wifi or hotspot connection. Go to comm manager and turn of the wifi.
here is a silly question.
Go into your comm manager and see if your Phone icon is on or off. (look to see if it has an X on it). If it is on, turn it off.. wait a minute... then turn it back on and see if that helps. Sounds like your phone is stuck in flight mode.

Wifi was off at the time - I made sure it was. I rebooted the phone multiple times with no avail...
did you try what i mentioned?
VanFanel,
Yes, I had the same problem with Faria's AKU3.3 rom. I'm using Tmobile and for some reason, nothing would allow it to reconnect to GPRS after about 1 day of use. Tried soft reseting, pulling the battery, disabling wifi, disabling and re-enabling the phone, making new connections profiles, disabling push, disabling activesync OTA, etc. You name it, I looked into it. I did a hard reset on the phone and it worked again for about a day and then just refused to connect again. Finally, I just installed the MB WM6 rom and everything has worked for the past week or so. The GPRS connection did pop up with an X for about 1/2 a day, but I have a feeling that was actually caused by Tmobile's network being down or unreachable in the area (thunderstorms), because GPRS was connected again in the morning. I never did figure out what exactly was wrong but I feel your frustration.

Yessir did that - nothing.
Doc_lee - excatly but i did not even have connection period. The funny thing I tried the mUn WM6 ROM and that worked just dandy, then I upgraded to Farias - and no dice, then I downloaded to Farias AKU 3.3 and it works just dandy.
Blah - I'll wait for the next revision
Solution!
I know why!
If you use "registry Wizard" you need to reenter your password, which is "tmobile" for your internet gprs connection.
Easy solution for a simple problem
Not sure what you are talking about. I don't see any option for a GPRS password within "Registry Wizard". Can you clarify or provide a screen cap?

GPRS Fix
Hey, I was experiencing the same problem with my orwells rom. I tried something but it's only been tested for one day...so far i have not experienced a drop out in my gprs connection like before (same as urs). create a new gprs connection with the exact same information as your previous one, just name it differently. go to settings-connections-add a new modem connection-put the same info as your current gprs settings - in "enter name for connection" put a different name.then under advanced- select networks select that "connection" as "program that automatically connect to the internet" then reset ur fone and see how it goes...just make sure u name ur connection differently compared to the old one - like creating a whole new different connection, only with the same gprs info

So let me get it straight - you also had the "two arrows and x" icon instead of the big G/E for the GPRS connection, then you tried a brand new connection and it worked fine?

at&t rom 1.62.502.0 internet problame!!!

hi all
im new here many thanks for that amazing group here.
i have yesterday upgraded my rom of my at&t tilt (kaiser tytn ii) to the new version, well all looks ok BUT...
since then i cant get internet connection and mms messages.
i have checked it the whole day today with my network company (im in israel) and we have reconfigured the modem connections but nothing its dead.
before i have done the upgrade all was just ok since yesterday its no connection.
i have checked arround and i found that there are many users that have the same problame all around the world.
since any mms message goes thru internet (etc. gprs, edge, hsdpa) i assume that the problame is with the internet connection and that blocks the mms messages.
my cell company told me that as she sees all is ok and i remember my settings too.
also even when i connect my tilt with usb to my computer i cant go on the web bacause it says "no connection".
i assume that they have planted in the registery any value that blocks any internet connection (as gprs etc.) if its not thru the own supllier, i can understand also why but the fact is that i get hspda connection and i see the icon of "connected" but somthing blocks it !!!!!
is there a way how we can digg in and remove that block that dosent allow the internert?????
is there a way to bypass it ????
or maybe i should go back to my old ROM is that possible????
again i remind u that:
1) all worked excellent till yesterday
2) the HSDPA establishes a connection but the explorer is dead.
3) i cant even connect thru my pc with usb while my pc is fully connected via dsl to the internet.
4) all setting are same and at once its "no connection"?
5) i see that meny users have that problame
if there is any way let me know
also how bad and ugly will it be if i go back to my old ROM and how do i do it.
many thanks
tachat.....

Where did you download the rom from???
I know the one at HTC America is intended & configured for AT&T customer in North America. If a ROM was not released on your local AT&T or HTC site, that may contribute to your issues.
You may want to DL the network configuration wizard & give it a go at reconfiguring your device.
some good news
hi all
many thanks for visniak you were right.
it was some hidden silly proxy that i needed to kick out.
now the internet works great BUT i cant send MMs messages.
the configuratins are all ok (i checked it today with my network company)
they say that thats a ROM problame (means that this might be a problame because i upgraded it to ROM 1.62)
is that right???
is there a solution???
many thanks
it's like BEZEQ and BEZEQINT
each blaming the other.............
I don't use MMS.
But most likely your settings are incorrect.
Does the new AT&T ROM solve the Low Volume when using Bluetooth?
That is the only iserious issue I have with the Tilt.
I have been a Symbian user forever and the AT&T Tilt(Unlocked and using it on another service provider in India) is my first exposure to Windows mobile. I upgraded to the new AT&T Rom(1.62.502.0) and the low bluetooth volume issue is sorted out...I'm using the SE 970 stereo BT headset, which is working fine.(ADVANCE that should solve ur query)
My only issue now is that i am unable to use the Internet Explorer thru GPRS. Strangely i could configure and download my E mails thru Outlook. Also, when I Sync the Tilt with my PC, IE works fine using the net connection from the PC. Any insight/clues why I'm facing this issue?

Just got a Touch Cruise

I am a long time reader newer poster. I am coming from a Treo 750. Is there anything I should do to this before I start adding my apps and transfering contacts? Is there a better backup of my Treo other than the Windows Vista Sync? I am mainly concerned with contacts and software. Also I am on Att I heard about the only thing I need to do is swap Sim card out, also should I adjust the wap settings for this to work. [email protected] password CINGULAR1. Also does it matter when syning new device the device name be the same? What is the best ROM I should have?
ATT
I also use att and all i have to do is set up the network to use media net and tell it under advanced to not use the proxy. It should work fine for you then. I am using Bepe rom 6.3 premium. The connection wizzard sets up right for ATT in the us except fothe proxy. you do npot have to enterthe wap settings they are there already.
Coming from my 750, I didn't have to do a thing - just stick in sim card and I was good to go. I am on the PDAConnect plan so no issues with proxies and such.
As for backup, use Sprite. It comes with the Cruise on the CD.
Thanks I will do that. I should have it in my hands tomorrow morning.

I got my phone installed bepe rom premium, I thought I got all of the att settings correct I am able to receive sms and email but for some reason It only has edge when before the rom i was getting hsdpa and 3g speeds. can you please take me through a small tutorial of what excat settings I need in the connections panel. I have only 1 listed MEdiaNet I then went to the advanced network and it says: turn on HSDPA it is checked, GPRS PAP authentication is checked, CSD Line Type data rate 9600 bps(v.32) connection element Transparent, SMS Service SMS over GSM. What else do I need to do? Please help
Also under comm manager it shows no data connection available?????
I figured it out. I removed all settings and went through the connection wizard. Also I forgot to change the band type to auto, that is why I would only get edge speeds. I wasnt sure about the proxy settings, I was supposed to checkit not uncheck it. and found the server settings and port numbers. Thak for everything. This phone is so much better than the treo 750. Well worth the money. No more square screen for me.
Out of curiosity what do we need to set the proxy to? Is this for using tethering or something else? I am on ATT as well and the auto network configure app thing seems to have set it all up correctly. Is there anything additional to be done?

3g problem

i just can't connect with my 3g network no more, it was working before, but now it says:
"cannot read setting from network.Try viewing settings later, or disconnect data connection and try again"
i flashed another rom, changed radio, sim card, but the problem still remains
does anybody know this solution to fix my problem???
