hi:
i found a place close that will replace my charging port for 40$.
i think that is a really good price.
while he is in there , it would be a good idea to change or upgrade parts.
everything else seems fine -- maybe the sliding mechanism could have more
positive snap, but nothing critical.
any suggestions that i am overlooking or dont know about?
thanx

Does anyone know the specs of the phone, are they the same? Does it come in white? Is there anything extra about the phone but being unlocked? Does it still have a camera? From the pics I have seen it looks like the camera area is covered up. thanks
looks like it has a camera to me. I can't see any reason why they'd make the specs anything other than identical to the G1
its the same phone, same hardware, has the engineering SPL obviously and has that cool looking design on the back cover. That's pretty much it.
So in essence someone hopefully will come out with are hardware unlock for the phone. and it will be the same thing. I think I will just get a white one off ebay. I can get it for under 400 and no tax. I think I will have to do that. I do like that back cover, but I think the white looks more slick.
dev G1 back cover
Everybody seems to love that cover, id bet they wish they had used that graphic on the stock G1s, I like it also...
If somebody who has the power to do so is listening, those backs would sell like hot cakes, or somebody in china or HK can knock off a quality unit id by 1 however or whomever, I just wanna look like a cool G1 dude. Even tho the last thing I coded had a last line sumthin like "15 goto 1"

Hi there,
Had this phone now since about August. Gradually over time the slider has become rather loose, its now at the point where im quite worried its going to break.
Has anyone else discovered this problem? Is it best contacting HTC service dept?
Does anyone happen to have the contact details in the UK?
Thanks
How does your slider become loose? Video please? I've had a kaiser before my fuze, and it's slider NEVER came loose. The tilt mechanism did, but not the slider. The slider shouldn't come loose since it's a spring action slider. I wold send it back right away.
Maybe it is more so the machanism, but if you close the slider you can quite easily wobble the front about and see there is a lot of movement there.
I've had my Fuze for a few weeks now, and am starting to notice this as well.
I actually came onto the boards this morning, hoping to find a thread on how to physically dismantle the Touch Pro, so I can study the slider mechanism and try and tighten/strengthen it somehow.
UPDATE: And here we go!

Cool just had a quick skim through those dismantle guides but dont really think id want to void the warranty unless its something dead simple! let me know how you get on! Cheers
Has anyone been able to figure this out yet? Mine is also loose and I am wondering how to fix it?

^hes got a mod for the FFC on the vibrant, anyway this can be done on the captivate?
Short answer: No
Long answer: http://tinyurl.com/2vf43f3
ive searched on google and everywhere says its possible for the vibrant, so why not for us??? its the same hardware in both phones...
The answer is no. Why do you need to know why? Physically, the phone is different. The outer shell is different, the inner casings are different, search the forums on google. There are topics on this.
It's the same case as flashing a vibrant stock rom on your cappy. Basically it wont work and it is the proof for hardwares not being the same.
You guys/gals are a bunch of negative nancy naysayers.
I did it a while back and posted my pic to prove it.
Mod closed the thread as it was a dupe, but i think it should stay open to show everyone what can be done if you put your mind to it.
Just because our phone has no place for a camera inside, and no connections on the motherboard is no reason to say it can't be done.
Think Positive!
BTW - it could use a little improvement - I am thinking about using a sharpie to color the tape black so you won't see it. Maybe then add a belt clip on the back. Oh, and cutouts for the sensors.
Bwaaahhh!!! That pic cracks me up! Mainly because I hadn't seen it before, and was expecting an internal job when I first started reading your post.
In other news, I am thinking we can REALLY fix our craptastic GPS reception with an external bluetooth GPS receiver..... thanks for the idea to think external alphadog00! (or has someone already done that?......)

I think someone tried it and it worked. I have an external receiver somewhere - had it for my Moto Q - not sure where it is though. But yes it has been done. It would be interesting to compare the difference - is it the phone and some blocked thread, or is it the GPS receiver in the phone, software, etc.?
I need to see if i can find mine.....
When Froyo actually comes out for the i9000 - officially - we might get some answers.
Hello. I want to design my own back cover case for my i9000 and i have spoken to a company who can help me build one from start with my own material but they need a drawing of the Battery cover with measurements and 3d pictures so the computer can scan it into the machine. Someone know where can i found one?
There must be some sketch out there, when there are many different custom shell on the web.
I have email Samsung support but they didnt sound so happy so I do not expect to get an answer from them.
Anyone know where to find a drawing? thx ..
May be this website comes handy.. http://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=355348
I'm also interested in this so if this works out can you let me know if i can get one too?
I can't find a good replacement beside official Samsung which cost way too much for a piece of plastic
Maybe you can make a mold of your batterycover and give it to them?

im also very interested in this, what kind of company would do this sort of stuff? and where would i find someone who can do it?
im also very interested in this, hope to hear more about it
any updates?
Hello, it's been a while since i posted here, the last time i managed to figure out the stuff i needed by my own but i hope i'm more lucky this time as i cant really find anything about this topic either here or anywhere else.
I'm needing a new phone as the old/current one is broken and i dont want to spend more than for buying a new one to repair it.
The few phones that i like, within my specs and price range, have the fingerprint sensor, now, i know everyone gets super excited about that because nobody can touch their phone(i'm still wondering how people can have so important stuff to hide to need a fingerprint sensor lol), yet i seriously dislike them and dont really want it on my phone.
Before someone says i can "disable it" from setup, i know that, but disabling it from menu is equal to put a curtain infront of a window while someone is burning your car. You wont see him doing it, but that wont stop the car from burning down to dust.
Clarified this, i'd like to know if anyone ever tried unplugging a fingerprint sensor on their phone, and if it did work or not.
My main doubt is if the sensor itself is used as a resistance, impedance or a simple any form of current/power delivery system, thus being a fundamental component to close the circuit.
Please answer only if you really know what are you talking about. Thanks a lot everyone for at least bothering to read my odd question.
ps: the phone i'm currently looking at is the Honor 7 lite, aka the "poor" brother of the Huawei GT3. I know they also made the Honor 5c, which already comes without sensor, but i cant find it for sale anywhere(other than the other side of the world, with prohibitive shipping costs and huge customs costs) so i'll have to stick to the Honor 7, and remove that sensor, if it is possible, or just get another phone.
Wow, and this is supposed to be the best mobile phone forum ever... i've solved on my own anyways.
