Hey all,
Thought I would post and see if anyone knew of this problem. I'm currently getting quite a bit of static during calls, the quality of both my voice and the other persons is also pretty bad.
Would this be a radio or ROM issue? or does it sound more like a hardware issue? Also is there anything I could try that might fix it.
try putting your sim card in a different device and see if you still get the static.
This will help you figure out if its your device or your network that is causing it.
Also changing the radio is fairly simple and doesn't wipe your device so trying out a different radio is an easy step to attempt to solve your problem.

I have this issue with my touch, that, when I make or recieve a call while roming my phone will restart within the first 30 seconds of the call.
Has anyone experienced this or/and know if it can be fixed?
Thanks in advance,
Kris
I worked out why it did it. You in a call then you hear a hissing noise then it reboot itself. Think this is a bug. While roaming in GSM network using EDGE or GPRS you cannot use voice and data together. Only in 3G which data and voice can be use together. The funny thing is the phone does not attemp to stop either voice or data, it just reboots itself.
Wonder there is any solution to this. Currently i just disable data during roaming on GSM network.
Now that I gave it more test......it restarts regardless of data or not......
hrm .. i reflashed the origional rom and spl onto the phone and it seems to work now - unfortuantly i have 2 drive fairly far to test it...
Has anyone else had this issue though?
Kris
I'm getting the same thing (I think), on my Touch Pro (Raphael).
I'm doing more testing to see exactly what is causing this, but it sounds like the same thing you're experiencing.
I wonder if there is some setting in the registry to tell the phone not to attempt to download data whilst on a GPRS connection and a phone call.
I started another thread about this before I found yours.

Same here, are we all on the 3 network?
New firmware may fix it. See post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=439983
yes, but I like my RomeOS and mine's a HKK grey import anyway, doesn't have the 3 Software on it, so I'm doubtful if the 3 firmware will fix it... it might of course
interesting, i dont seem to have the same problem even when i am forcing my TP to go on gsm network. hopefully its not something i will face as i am also on 3network
Hi,
I'm not sure whether this problem was being solved/is resolved somewhere in this forum, but I wasn't able to find a solution to a problem I'm facing.
The thing is, that sometimes (not always) after I've browsed the web on my Vox, the phone seems not to be reachable on the network, i.e. if I try to call my mobile phone from another phone, I just get "The number you are calling is currently unavailable, please try again later".
This seems pretty confusing to me, since the phone shows that it is normally connected to a network and isn't reporting any kind of problems. But it really isn't able to receive a call...the only thing that works is to restart the phone.
Unfortunately, there's no way to tell if the phone is just fine and noone is trying to reach me, or it is stuck in this strange way...
Has anyone experienced simmilar behaviour/found a solution? Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running Dr. Gonzo's Rose v0.3 ROM by the way, but as far as I remember, it also was happening with other ROMs....
P.S.: I'm sorry for my poor english.
Hmm is there really noone else with these problems? Could it be a hardware problem then? Or anything specific for my Vox only?
I have this problem too - my vox sits mostly unused now
Suddenly today, around an hour ago, I found out that I am not able to call from my Fuze. I can dial, but I don't hear any ring of the number I am calling. I put the SIM card in other phone and it can make calls. I am now sure what is wrong, could someone please provide some much needed suggestions?
I wouldn't have opened this thread as a new issue, and even if later it gets moved, I am seeking some urgent help, so I am posting it as a thread. Thanks.
Did you check in the comm manager to see if you turned airplane mode on or turned the radio off?

Yes, I did and the Airplane mode is off and the Radio is on. Somehow, not being able to call has coincided with not being able to connect to 3G too. The problem happened all of as sudden. I even made some calls this morning from my Fuze, and suddenly, it just would not make any more calls from it. Any more suggestions? I really don't want to hard reset it, as I have so much customization on it. Thanks.
i would backup and preform a HR to make sure it's hardware related
is the speaker bad? does the phone work on speakerphone?
does the call fail?
Agreed do a hard reset...if that doesnt work its the phone itself and a warranty issue. Which AT&T will take care of
I want to avoid a hard reset; I did it just last week. I understand why you would suggest to do that, but I want to avoid it, if I can.
The speakers work just fine; I played music. While on a call, I can't hear anything. The call seems to be in progress, but no party can hear anything. I haven't spoken to any person I called to verify if they received my call. If this could be something to do with radio, is there a way to deal with it? I am using everything stock. Please keep your suggestions coming.

The music and the speaker form calling are not the same, does it work on speakerphone?
Thanks for your response scotchua. The speakerphone was not working, to answer your question.
Update: I can make calls now.
But, instead of closing this thread, I would like to keep it alive, as I don't know what created the problem and what solved it. As I said, when I couldn't make calls, the data connection was not getting established either. If it was a problem with the connection or AT&T's tower, I would not have been able to make calls when I inserted my sim card into another phone. For about 6 - 7 hours, I had to use another phone, which does not have the features that Fuze has.
later in the evening, I put the sim cad back into Fuze, just to try if it worked, and it did work; I can make calls now. This actually complicates the problem, as I don;t know what caused it and it scares me that this can happen again and I, or anyone else who would be having a similar problem, will not know how to fix it. If keeping this thread alive does not seem like a waste of time to the community, please provide more suggestions regarding what may have caused the problem. Thanks.
i had the same problem with my fuze. I could not hear from the phone when making a call, but i could hear from the speakerphone. I reset the phone, changed ROM and tried everything. Nothing worked so I had to return the phone for a replacement.
I get complains almost daily that the background noise is overpowering when I'm on the phone. I basically can't be on the phone anywhere where there is any activity or it sounds so loud people ask me to call them back. I've tried a couple of different AudioPara3s but none have corrected my issue. I'm currently using RRE but had the same problem with RomeOS. Does anyone happen to know what I can do about this? If it is a setting I can change in AudioPara3, does anyone know which field(s) I should mess with?
Thanks.

Have you got "Microphone AGC" turned on? That's a technology that automatically screws up the volume of your voice when talking softly. It's nice when inside, but outside it also boosts background noise, like wind and traffic. Try turning it off, when in loud environments.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I checked Microphone AGC but it was off. I'm wondering if I just have a bad phone, since the problem is so bad I'm sure there would be a lot of other people complaining if it were common.
Bump in case someone knows something I can try with AudioPara3
Hi there,
I have the exact same problem...
It doesn't matter if i am inside or outside, the person in the other end hear backround noise over my voice... It is absolutely impossible to talk...
One person i talk to alot says my voice sounds almost distorted, like some gain or amplification is to high.
I would really like to know if someone has a solution to this issue?!
AGC is turned off..
Best regards
Andreas
Same issues here. Using the same phone, I have the problem when I'm running the Energy 6.5 Rom's, but not with the Energy 6.1 Rom's. Been searching and I'm stumped.
I did notice that the proram TouchPro Tweak has an Audio Boost that can only be set to "Medium" or "High". The program is written into most Rom's though so deleting it won't help.
Any thoughts?
Any help here would be very much appreciated, I've found nothing after many more hours of searching.
Are you guys sure you are using the correct rlphone.dll to match your radio?
It could be screwing with your "radio" functioning.
Yep, I did reflash my raido and reinstall my rilphone cab to make certain. The reply is still much appreciated!
Okay, I've had a bit of success.
- Microphone AGC - Enabled
- Used Total Commander and went to -> \plugins\registry\HKCU\Software\HTC\SOFTAGCData
- Max Level Gain : Changed Decimal Value from 10 -> 1
Background noise gone, but my voice is still very muffled.
If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, would someone running a 6.1 Rom be able to post up their values from all the registries under "SOFTAGCData"?
I would be very thankful.
*** SOLVED ***
Flashed back to a stock AT&T Rom and extracted all of the Audio files that may of been the cause.
Reflashed one of the Rom's that was giving me the issue, called the wife, problem still existed.
Dropped the AT&T Rom files in, placed a call, and Viola! Problem Solved!
Just extract these into the Windows dir (At your own risk, but they're just AT&T Stock files) -> Clicky
During calls my Nexus 5 has no audio in regular call mode generally, I can hear great, but people can't hear me at all. However, a headset works, and speaker phone works. More surprisingly, if you start in either of those modes, then go to regular call modes, the microphone works fine for about 30 seconds!
It has the regular vanilla Android 5.1.1 OS, I do not have root. But I would consider rooting if there was a fix.
try to reset your phone. it it's possible is software causing the issue and wiping it could fix it. It is also a bit more possible you are having hardware issues. anyway here's hoping its just software related.
I tried resetting the phone and that didnt seem to work :/.
I dont understand how it could be a hardware problem given that it works in so many other scenarios. How could I diagnose a hardware issue?
