Voice Command + bluetooth headset - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Searched, but no results for this problem. I have Alltel, Touch Pro. Connect to bluetooth headset is fine. Calls ring in, talk, hang up all ok. Cannot initiate a voice command call either thru contacts nor by the phone number. Acts like it wants to, but then does nothing. Motorola H680, which lists the Alltel Touch Pro as compatable. If I manually dial using the phone touch screen, works ok.

Solution
Found a 3td party app that works for my setup.

$14.95, 30 day free trial so I tested before buying.
They were not too clear on this, so if someone else uses it, you say "call" to bring up a contact, and "dial" to have phone dial a phone number you supply.

You shouldn't need the add-on software. If you look at the advanced information on the BT screen for your headset, what profiles does it show and which ones are checked.
I'm using a Plantronics Discovery 655/665 (same headset) and don't have any issues with VC initiating.

TP Hands free is not an option for this or any headset with Alltel. At least, that is what HTC support said. Are you with Alltel and HTC got that wrong? Taking support for its word, didn't figure to go buy n try different headsets other than the ones we already own and know works on other phones. 'Tis why I posted here, hoping there might be a reg hack someone knew about. Then got HTC email reply saying Alltel did not activate that service for the TP. Alltel support has been zilch on this subject. btw, HTC email support has been pretty good, usually within a few hours during workdays.

Have a look at this thread; it includes supporting posts on how to get the most out of MS VoiceCommand ... including Bluetooth.

bonding xda2 and bt headset

been busy with work so this is actually my first free time to personalize my xda2. i'm almost done but what's puzzling me is the bluetooth configuration.
i followed the instructions for both the xda2 and jabra headset for bonding. no problems so far but what's puzzling me is how to use the headset now that they're bonded. i tried testing it by pressing on the headset once...but no 2 blips sounded. or by activating the media player, but still no luck.
what am i doing wrong or am i not doing something which i'm supposed to?
thanks for any help you can give
robson
headset profile is only for phone usage. u can't use it for anything else. i have hbh-65 and as long as headset is on and call comes in it goes to bluetooth and rings
alex
hey thanks! and all the while i thought i was doing something wrong. do i leave the bluetooth setting mode to "on"? and when a call comes in, the phone rings and i can hear it immediately through the bt headset? do i need to press any buttons on the headset to activate it or is it automatic (i can answer right away)?
i guess i got used to having the bluetooth adaptor plugged to my old xda that i'm still looking for those 2 blips whenever i depress the bt headset button.
cheers

answered my own question
hey kalex, please disregard my previous post; i guess i just answered my own inquiries about the blue tooth bonding thing by using my landline and calling my mobile. the bt works great between the phone and the headset; when the mobile rang it immediately sounded off in my headset; just needed to press the button once to activate it. thanks a bunch!
cheers mate
robson
hey kalex or whoever can help out; the bluetooth headset works well when the phone rings and i take the call. however; how do you use the bt headset when you want to make an outgoing call?
cheers
robson
man, you really need to read the manual.
As the manual states, the jabra headset supports voice dialing.... only by default the XDA-II does not. You'd need to look at the various voice dial packages and see about getting that to work with the headset.... I dont fancy your chances... on the other hand maybe someone has already done this?
sorry dude; like i said i was a little busy with work so you'll have to pardon my excitement of fooling around with the xda...not to mention skipping the part about the manual
cheers mate
robson
I recently got an xda 2 and am buying a jabra 250. i presume that i'll need some voice software to make this totally hands free. or is this not the case.
any comments welcome :?:
I think the voice dial and headset issue is down to the headset BT profile that the XDA-II has plus the voice dial software supporting it.....
its muddy as hell, maybe someone else has a better idea. If I were you I'd find the voice dial software (there is plenty about) and then ask the authors for their recommendations.
voice software
Hello,
I can only say "me to" - I have HDW-2 Nokia headset but still looking for the voice software. I have tryied MS voice and I can say - forget the Microsoft voice - it is only dialing 7 or 10 digits numbers and trying to recognize the names - as most of my entries have non english names it does not work at all. I would rather have simple dialing digit-by-digit or nokia style recognition of the voice marks.

okay, we had both thursday and friday off as holidays here in thailand; which gave me enough time to finally read the manual cover to cover. and i still have a question; you guys will have to forgive me but i need to clarrify something.
when receiving a call the sound is automatically directed to the bt headset. i can either manually accept the call or use the "answer call after this number of rings" function. no problems there so far.
my question goes back to making a call using the bt headset without the aid of any voice dial apps. when you dial a number and send it; can the bt headset still be used? or is it purely for incoming calls? i read the manual (both for the xda2 and the bt headset) and it doesn't say anything about this.
you'll have to excuse my persistence as i really don't know the answer to this one. neither the manuals nor the devices show the answer. perhaps some friendly chaps from the site can help as well?
cheers

just try it! You have to use that little green button to make the call, but then the call is treansferred to the headset.

ah, after a little more research in the forum based from your response; i finally got the bonding issue nailed to the ground! what i did was delete the bond between the xda2 and the bt; i then rebonded them and now it's working properly. cheers!

Jabra BT-800 not working w Qtek 2020 WM2003SE

I bought the Jabra BT-800 headset for 119 EUR and was hoping to enjoy the headset w/o getting my PPC out of my pocketst.
Well that didnt work out. Pairing was easy, and after switching on the headset (in profile on today screen) I could call with it. The only thing is, I cannot get the call list on the headset to work. It doesnt show any numbers at all, and i wonder how its supposed to work anyway.
That being said, I also don't get to see who's calling me when using the headset.
1) Incoming call.... PPC rings..
2) After a few seconds the headset backlight switches on showing "Jabra BT-800" (standard text). I do not get to see who's calling me on my headset.
3) When listening to the ring tone on headset, after a second or two I get a really annoying sqreaking sound and that stays on till I accept the call or hang up.
So it is not working for me. Besides the headset does not stay on my ear correctly. I have small ears and it is really uncomfortable.
I have Qtek 2020 with Windows Mobile 2003 SE ROM (downloaded from this forum), ROM version 2.06.00WWE, Radio 1.18.00, Protocol 1337.38, ExtROM 2.06.100a
The Jabra BT-800 does not do what they say it's supposed to do.
Anyone else got these problems or solutions? Ciao
R.
me too
Same problem... They say it is also capable of BT voice dialing. I hate the way it takes so long to answer calls.
I am going to find out if the sony ericson ones work.. Then get that. The reception on the BT800 is great though.

Lucky you to get that far
After the upgrade to the Diamond 1.2 I have tried to bond my Bluespoon Digital. That was very easy and everything works fine, exept a call not is trasferred to the headset. I have tried both stacks, and I have tried it with the Sony Ericsson HBH 65. It simply doesn't work at all.
Does anybody have suggestions to what to do??

I had a problem with my Jabra BT250 after the WM upgrade. The mic and speaker remained active on the device, and the earpeice on my headset was active, but not the headset mic. The BT Tools did the trick.
Thanks
Jabra BT800 & XDA ii
Hi there,
The Jabra BT800 isnt compatable with the XDA ii (check www.jabra.com)
I owned this headset and had exactly the same problems, i now own the Jabra BT200 and it works perfectly
The BT800 needs a phone with bluetooth handsfree profile to be able to use the advanced features like caller id. Xda II as standard has only bluetooth headset profile.
I'm not sure about the 2003SE rom some of you guys are using, but I've tried it with the Buzz WM2K5 rom (thanks buzz et al) and this DOES give it the bluetooth handsfree profile it needs.
BUT...
It seems Jabra's idea of caller id is to only pass the number across, and not the name. So for those of us that don't have a photographic memory its pretty useless. This isn't restricted to Xda's either. I tried a couple of Nokia phones that are 'compatible' according to www.jabra.com and these do exactly the same. Number shows on the jabra screen but no name, even though the phone is showing both.
I emailed Jabra about it and they acknowledge it is an issue. They also tell me there is an issue with numbers in international format in that they fail to pass the + sign across, so you can't ring out from the call list.
JD
Ya need 2.20 translated to have a working Hands Free profile.. BT800 needs hands free profile.
Caller ID still only displays if the number is a virgin to your system.. I think HBH662 will work with 2.20.
2005 may work with no problems too.

BT Headset w/caller ID and XDA II/IMate PPC

In reviewing the forums, I am unable to find a "straight" answer (at least one I can understand), about whether *ANY* BT headset with caller ID will fully work with the XDA II (or in my case, the IMATE PPC).
My configuration:
Imate PPC (XDA II)
ROM: 1.72.00WWE (3/15/04)
Radio: 1.14.00
Protocol: 1337.24
ExtROM: 1.72.800
I am running Pocket Bluetooth Tools V1012 (also tried 1100).
Can anyone tell me if the Sony-Ericsson HBH-660 or any other caller-ID enabled BT headset will properly display the caller number and/or name with the above hardware/software profile?
I know for sure that the Jabra BT800 will NOT. The headset works (actually, works great... good reception!), but the caller ID does not work.
Thanks in advance!
-Kevin.
Hi,
There are many ways to get the Bluetooth with Caller ID works on the PPC. The trick is that the Caller ID needs a Hands Free profile, which is not standard in the PPC. After using one of these ways, you will end up having the the caller number only appears, but no names. If this is what you want, I can tell you how it could be done.
Hi Waladany,
Yes, I would be very interested in knowing how to get it to work. A number (without name), is perfectly acceptable. I still have the Jabra BT800 headset for about 6 more days before I must return it for a refund, so I can use it to test.
Thanks in advance.

Ok Guys, here are what i got.
You have two ways:
1- Install the merged rom made by sin (you can find it in the forum), as it includes the bluetooth fix. ( This is what I tried)
2-a- Install the Bluetooth Handsfree fix, I will attach it for you. After installing both updates, you should try to bond with the Headset. you should be receiving the message telling you that this is a Hands Free Device (Yes or No). You better say yes. If you said No, another message pop up twice asking if it is a Handset Device.
2-b- As a test, if you already have the headset bonded, you can go to the devices screen in bluetooth. Click and hold on the device, you should see a shortcut menu with the option "set as Hand Free". Try to select and test the Hands Free

I have the merged ROM by Sin, but still experience the same microphone issues. The CallerID works great, but the microphone on the headset is not active. Both the speaker and microphone on the XDA-II are operating.

Are you referring to the registry fix? I think that just makes you able to select hands-free at all. It doesn't fix the microphone problem.
The only thing I've heard that works is the 2.20 Chinese version. But I'm pretty happy with the Sin version. I wish we could find a quick fix for it.
If I've missed a new BT fix from Sin, please post the link here.
Thanks

no way no how will BT CID work fully on even 2.20!! It sucks.
On 2005 it works FLAWLESSLY. But there are bugs on 2005, lack of mem, contacts and email database are new so will not work with many third party software, etc.
Even if you add the reg key "HadsfreeProfileOn", (Sins fix), or have any BT stack or even pray to the bluetooth God, your ****ed on 2.02 - 2.06.
2.20 is ****ty.. If I receive another call while using handsfree, even if I do not answer it, I loose all sound and mic ON BOTH until I click on Tools, Hands free off and then again tools hands free on.
Sometimes the mic - duel speaker things comes back and you have to reboot.

Nokia CK-7W with Diamond, it works!

Well, this is not really a question or problem. But just a headsup that the Diamond works just fine with my Nokia CK-7W.
However it would also be nice to hear from you guys (and girls) as well, since I can't imagine I'm the only one with succes!
You might wonder "Why the hell do you post this?!". Well, that's simple because when I wanted to find out whether that Nokia carkit would work together with the Diamond I coulnd't find anything.
And since my experiences with Nokia carkits and HTC phones weren't all that good (read: BAD, lots of echo and weird connection problems) I was pretty anxious to give this a try.
After testing it on another CK-7W, which was already built in a car, I figured it worked perfectly so I took the plunge and got one for my car.
(Before you ask, why no parrot or other brand? I was able to get my hands on this one really cheap.)
The only problem I got was the first time I wanted to pair the device. Every time after entering the 4 digit passcode I got a message saying the passcode was incorrect. Instantly, not even trying to connect. After leaving it all alone for 10-15 minutes and I tried to connect again it suddenly worked without any problems. And it's still working with no issues at all.
ROM I use:
SWIFTBL WWE DIAMOND ROM V7.5
OS Version: CE 5.2.20755 (Build 20755 AKU 1.4.0)
Base ROM Version: 1.93.405.1 UK WWE
So.. more succes stories here? Or problems?
Hi
I have the same setup, Nokia CK-7W in my volvo s60 connected to my MDA Compact IV running swiftbldade 7.5.
It all works perfect.
I even have MS Voice command setup with it and it annonuces incoming callers and messages perfectly and voice dialling works perfect as well.
Call quality is very good as well.
Shaks
Hey - I've got my CK-7W working fine too, except I'd like to also enable wireless stereo... but the option doesn't seem to exist... I bought the CK-7W off a friend, and he was able to use wireless stereo, but I cn't - has anyone else had any success...?
Relly something I want for using TomTom, etc...
Hi i have CK-7W car kit and I am having problems getting my Diamond to pair can you please advise how you guys paired your ones?
Can't say anything more than I just used the normal way to pair, go to bluetooth settings, search for device and select the carkit + enter correct passcode.
I did however have some problems in the beginning. It would find the carkit but after entering the passcode it said pairing failed.
But when I tried later again it went without a problem, and it paired everytime without a problem ever since.
I dont think the ck-7w supports stereo audio. There are however apps that can route the audio over the carkit. BTAudio is one called if I remember correctly. That way you can have the tomtom over the carkit, but quality isn't that good really.
And some say that using that audio routing also gives 'problems' sometimes, as in it sometimes seems like there is audio (e.g. the car radio is muted) but you don't hear anything for a few secs. So that can be quite annoying.
hmmm??? My diamond wont even pick up the car kit during the search!
I had some problems pairing in the first place...
Don't try to search for the car-kit using the phone, just have your Diamond on BT visible to others, and the car-kit will try to connect automatically... I think you might need to hold the button on the car-kit down for like 10 seconds for it to search, but definately let the kit find the phone, not the other way around...
I fitted one of these to my brother in law's car the other day. Tested it with my diamond, but i expected it to be cross compatible.
Bit offtopic, but what's the advantage compared with a just as pricy parrot system?
Hi Y'all,
I am using my Diamond with the nokia CK-7W and it works fine as well. Paired up without much fuss....

Eh.. none? I find the quality better compared to my old ck3300 parrot carkit. However, this one doesnt have a small lcd display or something. Not that I missed the lcd screen though, but sure was a nice feature.
Best thing about the parrot was that it's possible to put a new firmware on it. Could make them a little bit more 'future-proof'.
Nokia CK-7W with HTC Touch Diamond2, VITO VoiceDialer
Pairing the device was easy. In coming calls are working. Push on the carkit button and I can answer the call.
The problem that I have is that I can't do a voice call. If I push on the carkit button nothing happens. I would have expected that the VoiceDialer app would be started and I could make a voice call. The VoiceDialer app works without bluetooth.
Has anyone an idea how I get voice dialing working?
Remark:
With my pervious cell phone Motorola L6 was this possible. Pushed on the carkitt button, wait on the beep, say the name, when recognized it repeats the name and the number was dialed by the phone.

Bluetooth hands free Caller ID and Contacts Issues

Hey folks,
I have a couple of questions regarding the bluetooth hands free profile and Caller ID and Contacts.
First issue: I use a Garmin Nuvi 760 as a speakerphone in my car via the hands free bluetooth profile. The 760 can't access the recent calls on my HTC Polaris (Touch Cruise) running the official WM 6.1 ROM...it just says, "no data available" when I try to access it. My old phone (T-Mobile MDA / HTC Wizard with the official WM 5 ROM) worked fine. The Wizard happily sent my recent call data to the GPS. If I remember correctly, the Wizard would prompt me the first time the GPS tried to access the call data, and then it just worked after that until I deleted the bluetooth device pairing. When I receive a call the Wizard also sent the name from my contacts to the Caller ID display on the 760, and my Polaris doesn't...it just sends the phone number of the incoming call.
Second issue: at home I use a XLink BT bluetooth hub to use my "land line" phones with my Polaris. It also uses the hands free bluetooth profile to connect to the phone and then emulates a "land line" for my other phones via my home telephone wiring. When I receive a call through the XLink I also don't get the caller name along with the Caller ID data...it just sends the phone number. I also have my girlfriend's 4 year old Motorola Razr v3 connected to the XLink hub and the contact name data comes through to the cordless "land line" handset just fine on the Razr.
I'm pretty sure these issues are connected, and I'm also pretty sure that there must be a setting somewhere on my Polaris to allow this to work, but so far I haven't been able to find it. Do any of you guys know of a setting or registry key that will allow me to enable this functionality? I'd really appreciate some advice.
Thanks!
Enable SAP Settings?
Hi
I think that this may be an issue to do with "SAP" or Remote SIM Access in bluetooth settings.
Cheers

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately Remote SIM Access is already on...I swear I've tried every setting I could find to try to figure this out.
Yeah, something is definitely just turned off somewhere (probably in the registry). I can dial from my phonebook from my nuvi via the handsfree bluetooth profile with my old phone (Wizard), but when I connect with my Polaris the option to dial from the phonebook is disabled (grayed out). Something is explicitly disabled somewhere...I just need to figure out which registry keys I need to change.
I'm really surprised I'm having such a hard time finding this info on the 'net.
