Hi guys!
I'm a big fan of the coolest full screen hand recogniton SIP's - PenReader and Calligrapher. Unfortunately, they do not work on the new TD2. I'm pretty sure that the problem lies in the flick scrolling feature which is "always on top". So if I start writing letters on the screen, it just starts to flick scroll the screen. The SIP method works fine when not in a flick-scrolling capable application. So is it possible to somehow bring the SIP "on top"of other things, or to locally disable the flick scroll option, for example in the sms writing app?
upz !
i want to know also...
This problem with Calligrapher 8.7 is rather frustrating because it is shown as being Windows Mobile 6.1 compatible.
But I think I have managed to identify consistently when it stops working building on what jgal has said.
I use both Phatware's Phatnotes and Calligrapher.
When I initially start a new phatnote file, Calligrapher works fine. Fine that is until my note extends beyond the height my Diamond2 touch screen - and then the standard Windows Mobile scroll bar on the right appears. And that is also when the flick scrolling capability is activated because now there is more than one page.
Now, it is in this instance, that Calligrapher stop functioning because the flick scrolling has taken over.
But the funny thing here is that if I now switch over to the native Windows Mobile Transcriber handwriting recognition software, it works fine.
And what is puzzling is that Transcriber is actually the free and watered down version of Calligrapher 8.7 that comes bundled with Windows Mobile 6.1 or its earlier version.
Calligrapher has a setting (that you can find in the Windows Mobile settings (system tab) that allows you to Disable TouchFlo Scroll mode which I assume apparently is to solve this problem. But alas, this is not so.
I wonder, if there is anywhere in the registry I can exclude this "wonderful" TouchFlo techonolgy from conflicting with Calligrapher since there is no reason why Transcriber works and Calligrapher does not in the same application - in this case, Phatware's Phatnotes.

Simple request
Does anybody know of a simple utility that can incorporate Tasks into Pocket Outlook. Tasks then will be intergrated into the calander and will use the appointment screen to set a task. Also this utility should manage to display a full weeks appointments and task in sequence - not seperated.
Thanks in anticipation

There's a free today screen plugin that shows combined tasks and appointments...
http://tiews.info/index.php?show=software/todayagenda
I've given up on it for now but it seemed to work ok. Not as advanced as other plugins like PocketBreeze but much lower overhead associated with using it.
Have reverted back to standard plugins even though they are pretty pathetic since the plugin didn't seem to cope with orientation switching too well - an annoyance when using it with a device with a slide out landscape keyboard.
PocketBreeze for Me!!
I can't comment on TodayAgenda, as I've never tried it. I found it on these forums after purchasing PocketBreeze. But, from everything I've read about it on that thread, it's a very good program.
However, I WILL say that I LOVE PocketBreeze, and it would be virtually impossible (IMO) to find anything that even comes close. It does exactly what the OP wanted, plus more. It's the only plugin I use on my Today Screen, and it allows for Custom tabs to be set for other plugins, as well. So, I have iLauncher, Pocket Weather and Spb Time integrated into PB as custom tabs and from that can access virtually everything on my Wizard from the Today Screen through Pocket Breeze.
There's a 14 day free trial period, but I was sold on it after only 3 days and bought it. Others may have different views, but for me -- it's the BEST!!
I've use both todayAgenda and pocketbreeze. For the price of todayAgenda, there isnt really much to 'complain' about, other than the fact that, it doesn't display tomorrow as 'Tomorrow', which is quite annoying (that it lowered the importances of the task/schedule).
Anyway, I'm using pBreeze now and no complain so far. It is highly customizable which others may find annoying, but if you want to have full control on your display, go for it. I so wish I get commission for selling this software
Check new todayAgenda 0.95 beta and check spbDiary with better phone contacts handling (hardware keyboard) than pocketBreeze.
Thanks everybody.
TodayAgenda works well for me. Exactly what I wanted.

Hi,
This is probably a no, (and i've searched for this already btw but not found anything), but....
Is it possible to launch a different application other than the touch cube when you slide your thumb up the screen ?
thanks in advance
Matt
Yes it is, but not with the normal TouchFlo. Search for FTouchFlo, it does basically the same, but you can assign any command to each direction of sliding your finger over the screen.
That means four different possibilities.
Don't know if this helps, but you can try this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1971424
Note that VJBrisk is basically just a tiny app I made to allow you to replace one executable (eg BioTouch.exe), with VJBrisk, and VJBrisk will allow you to launch a shortcut with parameters.
You may well not need to do that step, depending on your needs. The thread above explains this much better than my mumblings.

cheers chaps, will take a look at these.
I had hoped it was as simple as a registry change but guess not
thanks
Matt
Use UltimateLauncher, and get rid of TouchFLO Cube. It also lets you assign functions to run any .EXE or .LNK to swipes in all 4 directions. That's what I did. But I only use Up and Down. Up to get open my contacts and down to invoke the S2U2 screen lock.
I've decided to go with vjbrisk which is working very well at the moment.
however, even with show all files I am unable to fine either LaunchStartupApp.lst or Launchstartupapp in the windows file. Am using a polaris (o2 orbit 2)...any ideas where I can find this or if it's called anything else.
It's not the end of the world, would just be useful to free up 5mb or so.
cheers
Matt
I just got a Touch Cruise this weekend and love it so far.
But I find that I would really like to get 2 things for it:
1. a better keyboard. I know there is a learning curve, but I am not sold on any of the keyboards that came with the device. I heard there is a freeware keyboard that is much better. Anyone know of it?
2. is there an application like google maps or google mail that you all use to track stocks and see how your portfolios are doing? Something like this would make the device even more useful.
thanks,
Try out this keyboard: It's a little bit bigger than the standard one. I use it and it works great.
pocketcm keyboard
Google Maps can be found here: Google Maps Mobile v2.0.1.17
for the second one you can search for google2go... it's a hotlink collection for the IE. It launches as a normall app, and does include the mobile google finance
PocketCM keyboard is great. a lot of good skins for it too.
For a maps program Windows Live Search Mobile is by far the best. Seriously one of the best apps from Microsoft and it's for free. It includes movie times, gas prices, maps with gps, speech recognition for addresses and business locations. I think it's only available in the US & UK though, so really depends on where you're at.
As for stocks I use Pocket StockCenter. You can setup your portfolio, number of shares for each symbol, amount paid, etc.
or you could try Vitos' Zoomboard which is quite good
While I agree PCM is a great keyboard, I have been using TouchPAL and have been happier.

I just installed PocketCM keyboard but my Polaris continues to use the Old Keyboard. When I select PocketPC keyboard and then options, it says PocketPC keyboard must be the SIP inorder to Configure it.
What is SIP and how do I get the PocketCM keyboard to work?
I've seen that as a bug sometimes, when you hit the small arrow by the keyboard icon and select PocketCM and it gives you that standard keyboard with the really small keys. Try resetting and selecting the pocket CM keyboard. Then you should be able to go into options and modify it.
Also search for SIP changer, there are tons of threads and the file is floating around. Allows you to set the default SIP on startup.
By the way SIP is "soft input panel" or something like that, it's basically the app that pops up that allows you to input characters whether it be the default HTC ones, default Windows ones, or something like PocketCM.

Hi. I have purchased my HTC Pro recently and installed my most usufull programs. One of them is softmaker. I was really confused when couldn't have input any word in Plan Maker and Text Maker using built in keyboard. The same problem had with logmein remote control aplication. When connected to my PC thru HTC Pro I also couldn't have input any words using the slide keyboard. What's the problem? Have you experienced the same problem using these programs? The slide keyboard works when writing text messages so I suppose that the problem lies in OS.
dunno about softmaker, but had the same problem in log me in.
I noticed in log me in, that only the standard keyboard worked, and not any of the HTC qwerty t9 stuff.
Try setting the normal keyboard as the SIP and see if it comes back to life. I've a nasty feeling that the T9 is interfering...
Same here for LogMeIn... I was kinda shocked that the hardware keyboard didn't work... But the regular soft keyboard works. I have posted on the LogMeIn forums (there were already posts there from people with the Diamond with the same problem). I'm hoping they'll fix this, I'd love to be able to use LogMeIn for work... I work on a mainframe, so text input is kinda important...
I had the same problem with Softmaker Office 2006. I've downloaded the 2008 demo version, it works fine with the keyboard (at least you can use it for 30 days!).
So I've emailed Softmaker support, I don't want to upgrade at least until they handle Office 2007 file format, there is not much new in this 2008 version. Let's see what they say...
Have problems same too with DOSBox.
And also when I type with the keyboard in TomTom it adds a an a with a round on the top after each letter typed.
Me too
Sad to say, having the same keyboard issue with logmein service (rather disappointing). Maybe I have to switch back to the Dopod 838Pro workhorse I have - a bit of a fat boy but at least it worked as it should.
guitarguy: how did you get the software keyboard to work? it doesn't seem to work for me...
Note: I noticed in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417616&page=3) sub69 had linked up to logmein in a tv out demo - not sure if they'd used the keyboard to login to the remote unit though. If anyone knows sub69 perhaps they can shoot them a pm...
I guess we can all shoot a message through to HTC and ask them. At the least, they'll be aware of the issue. I've contacted logmein for any help - but all they've sent back is a "not supported yet" message.
That may caused by ClearType in Landscape mode. Try to go to Settings->System->Screen->ClearType, clear checkbox Enable ClearType.
Had the same problem with pocketinformant 8.
I disabled t9, autocorrect and stuff like that , and now no more probem.
Except that, in french, when i push on FN then on é , the program closes !

I had problem with Softmaker Office 2008. When i pressed Fn Key+another key like !, &, # or else, the cursor in Planmaker/Textmaker will move away.
Just picked up a Sprint TP2. So far I love it (not impressed with WM7, so I stayed with WM 6.5).
My biggest gripe is the Slideout keyboard no longer has Tab and Ctrl buttons (especially Ctrl) like my TP1 did.
Is there a quick Registry change I can make to change the 'Mail' key (just to the right of the FN key) to Tab and the 'SMS/MMS' key to Ctrl?
I can live without the tab, but I use Ctrl quite a bit (Pocket Putty SSH, & for formatting bold/italics/underline in documents, etc.) Yep, I am one of those strange people that uses a smart-phone for work, not for watching YouTube videos.
I would prefer just to do quick registry setting change, but if that is not possible, is there an application out there that will let me do this?
Thanks!
John
