random restarts after flashing to haykuro/thedudes builds - G1 Android Development

Ever since flashing over the 1.5 rls's from haykuro/thedude i have been getting random restarts..usually when the phone is idle or right after sending a text message. Has anyone else had these problems?

I've had a few random restarts as well (around 3/4 times in the past 6 months). Just hangs for a second then, loads to boot image. From what I recall was recieving a call, sending a call and recieving a message. I cant be sure if its the builds though or just the phone, I wasn't on the original firmware long enough to conclusively say that it wasn't the phone.

Here are the 3 things that caused that issue for me:
- Using an SD card that has bad sectors (brand new Patriot 4GB)
- Running the AppstoSD app before using the a2sd.zip files to setup the link
- Klaxon alarm in an older build of Haykuro
I ended up with an A-Data 16GB class6 card and re-installed/setup everything from scratch and now I never have that problem anymore.

Kaiser performance: Slowing down few days after flashing

Hello,
Almost a year ago I purchased my Kaiser (an Orange Kaiser) ans started to flash my phone.
I have already used several ROM avaiable here: Dutty (sevearl versions), L26 (SEVERAL Versions), Hyperdragon, Mobile vista, etc, etc, etc. Have already tryed several versions of the Radio firmwares. 1.24, 1.57. etc. Also, have already tried almost EVERY Hard SPL avaiable and so far I had the same problem:
Few days after flashing the Kaiser starts do slow down its performence. For ex: I press the Call button and it takes 40 to 50 seconds to enter in the touchpad screen. Sometimes it don't even enter the the call screen.
It get worst: sometimes I get no signam from the phone even if i'm side by side to a antena (where any other phone have a strong signal).
The only solution: HARD RESET. I mean, after a hard reset it looks like its other phone. Strong signal, fast response.
I can't possible imagine that I'm the only one here with this kind of problem. Does anyone knows how to solve? Does anyone here knows ehy it happens?
PS: I have already tried configurations with diferent programs. I have already tried with and without S2L2, With or without HTC Home (most without), With and without pocket launcher, with and without today agenda and SPB calendar. Can only think that this is problem with something in the ROM or the radio since every single configuration had the same performance issues.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks
Dandare
I had a faulty SD card that was giving me similar problems to this. I think it was due to Coreplayer and Audio Manager scanning the faulty SD card for music and the read speed was really really slow on the card. Everything would grind to a halt. I bought a new card and everything was fine after that. You could also try formatting or removing the SD card to eliminate the card being the source of the issue.... but you'll probably turn around a say you don't have an SD card
Good luck...
Yeah recently I got this issue. The filesystem on my SD card for corrupt somehow, and I was unable to access anything on it via activesync (my pc) and my phone.
So I just installed some prob( i forget the name) and formatted the SD card, then re-flashed. And since then it's been quick as can be
Hey guys,
I've been having this issue as well. I have not found it to be my storage card as i have tried 4 different cards. i have put the cards on my BJII and it works without issues. I also have found that with some of my early L26 Flashes i would just ride it out and it would work again.
However i have not had my HDIII Pro for that long but i'm hoping that it would would do the same.
If someone does find a link to what is really going on i would greatly appreciate the advice.
Thanks
Also, I actually believe if you text message a lot (i mean basically excessivly) as my brother does, the device will slow down.
He has my older Hermes, and he has unlimited texting, but within 2 weeks he would have sent 1500-2000 text messages and recieved about the same ammount.
By that time his phone would start lagging and being a pain, so I would usually just do a new flash (or hard reset), since deleting that many texts normally would probably take 48 hours haha.
Anyway when it gets re-flashed everything runs normal and fine. But whenever the phone gets cleared everything is smooth again
So maybe it's the amount of text/emails you have? Idk
Going to test the SD card. I have a 4Gb SD card but I'm actually only using 1,4 Gb, so I can use a 2Gb with no problem.
This going to take a while since the phone starts to slow down after three or four days, but I'll let you guys know if it solved.
Thanks!!!!

If you have a vista based machine, It will correct the filesystem errors automatically, and you wont have to reformat...
Works great for me, My desktop is VU64, and my lappy is MCE2005. All the flashing happens on the laptop, and transferring files to the SD (Music & Movies) via WMP happens on the desktop.
Idem
I have same problem.
I try to found confirmation in italian dedicated forum , nobody has had the same problem.
After any minutes where the kaiser freeze , i do not have the same problem.
As is autoconfigured.
Now i used selfmade rom (by official italian rom, and hardSPL 3.29).
Sorry for my bad english

Soft reboot when Ext SD card in Cap

I am having maddening issues with my Cap (running KJ3 rooted). When the SD card is inserted, it becomes very unstable and soft reboots - usually on startup (and repeats ad infinitium). If I start up without the SD card, I am stable, but I have many apps that KJ3 defaults to installing on the SD card. The problem occurs whether I insert the card before boot up, or insert after it has started up.
I have the same issue with 2 different cards. I tried a brand new class 10, 16GB. I restored apps from my TiBu backup which I had copied from the old card to new (on PC) - not sure if that is the issue...
Anyone have any ideas?
Well, if I am not mistaken, apps which are installed to SD are not on the removable SD card, but on the captivate's "Internal SD", which is the 16GB... well actually about 13GB after the phone's "internal Storage" partition is lopped off of it.
I would try a reflash and then test it before you install the apps.

I've been down that road more times than you can imagine - flash, wipe in recovery, and reload. I had thought that it was the .androidsecure directory on the external SD that held the parts of the apps that move. what is clear is that this only happens with the external SD card inserted and mounted, and almost always happens within 10 minutes of startup or the previous cycle, i.e., before any program launches other than TouchWiz and often before any email sync (this is my work phone, syncs with Exchange 2007 server).
I did get a list of all apps that have the start on boot permission, not sure if any of these are regular problem children, they are, on my phone (not sure why some of them need that permission, but that's a different story):
Amazon MP3
Amazon Appstore

Did you move the apps back to internal memory after restoring them? Iirc, when using the later leaks, they install all the apps to external sd(if there is one in the phone).

Going to start doing that, the next time I have a stable spell with the card in. The problem is that the failure is intermittent. It doesn't fail every time I have the SD card in, but every time it does fail, I have the card installed, and it usually takes awhile before it starts working again. Thinking about another factory reset and then reinstalling apps without TiBu help or the card in, at least until I get all of the ones that startup in main memory to eliminate that possibility.
Of course with the Epic finally getting the official upgrade, kind of want to hold off until the Captivate image finally comes out, that way if it is a hardware problem. I'll be on stock for the warranty exchange.
Arggh... maddening problems continued.
The phone stayed up (with SD card in for about 16 hours), during that time I moved every app with the permission to launch on boot to main memory. I then had the kernel panic, or whatever the soft boot actually is, occur while in Pocket Informant.
I then watched it cycle through display PIN-lock screen, start media scan, screen shut off, and then re-boot seven times, approximately every three minutes while never touching the phone. Some times I saw on the status bar "Media scan completed", sometimes it had the icons.
After powering down, and starting up from off - it is now up again, who knows for how long.
So unfortunately, I can now say this is not just a startup issue; I can also say that something that happens during startup (or at least the kernel launch) creates the conditions for this reboot cycle to occur.
Anyone out there have any ideas?

question what kind of sd card do you have in there as in what class? class 10s can cause issues . wait i see .. have you tried a class 4 or 6? I had mutiple 10s cause issues like this and exchanged for a 4 and all issues went away .. or you can format the card on your computer using fat32 and set to 32k sectors but that did not work for me ..

I had a 16GB class 4 (Patriot) in. I just replaced it with a PNY 16GB Class 10. Both have had the same issues (currently using the Class 10). Both were formatted in the phone itself - so assuming they are FAT32.

[Q] What in the world is happening with my microSD card?!

Hello all!
<Story>
I recently noticed that I was receiving a ton of Force Close messages on my HD2 and decided to restart the device (which I hadn't done in a while:laugh. When the device started back up, I realized the apps that were reported to have force closed, hadn't actually crashed.
Then I noticed that K9 mail was going crazy, showing the "updating" notification every half second on each account. When I decided to read my mail, it seemed as if they were all from the previous day, showing up as unread! Then I went to open the new version of Firefox, which I had just read about and installed ... but it was nowhere to be found.
Since I was sitting next to my computer at the time, I quickly looked up some stuff on xda and saw people were recommending CatLog, which I immediately installed. Upon attempting to open the application, I was met by a barrage of force closes including system and Trebuchet.
Panicking, I pulled the battery, cleared the Dalvik cache and fixed permissions, which unusually, completed instantaneously. I attempted to reinstall Amarullz's a2sd script but after copying it from my computer to the SD and booting to Recovery, I never saw the file I was looking for. Trying this process a couple more times, I honestly questioned my sanity but then speculated senility ... I DID just copy that file, didn't I?
</Story>
Apologies for making you read that, but I pushed the problem aside and used my phone for two more days (it was painful) before finally writing this.
EDIT: RELEVANT STUFF BELOW, STORY ABOVE
I did some testing and it seems like my SD card is somehow bugged but nothing really confirms it, diskcheck says everything is fine. Windows explorer doesn't complain while copying. And files that are copied DO work until the card is ejected, at which point it reverts back to the prior state :/
EDIT 2:
downloaded TeraCopy and verified my copied data (see screenshots)
Funny thing is that the data copied is NOT the same - the checksum indicates corruption, but when I tried it again, the checksums were the same! When I open the video files, music I had copied onto the card a week earlier began playing!
Is this thing read-only? The card is not full, neither is it a fake.
Formatting the card in Windows 7 causes a "windows was unable to complete the format" error when 2/3 complete (not quick format)
Even though it seems that it was mostly formatted, the data is still intact. Quite odd.
microSD Card Details:
Manufacturer: Apacer
Size: 16GB
Partitions: 2: FAT32 and ext3
TL;DR: ???Read-only??? microSD card but not sure: no errors while writing data, no errors reported by diskcheck, no corrupt data.
Same thing happened last week
I had the same thing last week with a 16GB SanDisk in my Nexus One running CM7.2. It started with a couple of force closes, then after a reboot just about every application (over 100 on sd-ext with S2E) force closed and the system became unusable. Tried various things and eventually found out that I could write to the card without any error, the files seemed to be there but were gone when I reinserted the card. Even deleting a partition from gparted on Linux showed no error but the partition was still there. The card is 18 months old, I sent it in under warranty.

[Q] Bootloop only when starting up with SD card

Hello everyone, this is my first post here even though I have referenced the xda forums for some time now. I've spent a bunch of time trying to fix this problem on my own but now I feel that I have exhausted all of my options and I could use some help from anyone who has heard of or encountered this problem before.
The problem:
My Samsung Infuse will boot up completely and perform the SD card scanning but the SD applications won't show up on my phone (they only exist as SD card icons), which leads me to believe that it's not mounting properly because of some process or application that interferes during the scanning process. The phone will continue to run for a few minutes, slowing down exponentially as time goes on until it completely freezes and reboots to my boot animation which starts this whole process over and over again. However, the phone will boot fine and run normally if I remove the SD card. Occasionally, it will randomly boot normally with the SD card if I let it bootloop for a long period of time.
What I've already tried:
This problem started happening when my phone was completely stock so I researched it and tried:
- getting a new SD card (which actually seemed to work for awhile which led me to believe the original was bad)
- downloading a new launcher, switching to it and clearing the TW launcher data (this works occasionally when I can actually make it through this process without being interrupted by a reboot)
- performing a factory reset and manually loading all my data back to avoid restoring any potentially problematic settings
- recently rooting my phone and running UCLB3 firmware with Entropy's Daily Driver kernel with CWM to see if it was just a bug with the factory software
Since it's been rooted it seems to have gotten worse though. When everything was stock it would only do this occasionally but now this problem will occur every time. However, I was thinking that it might just be that the sd cards have to be reformatted every so often for some reason (I will try this out soon to see what happens). But if anyone else can help with this issue it would be greatly appreciated. It seems like this is a fairly common issue with Samsungs so I'm hoping that someone has figured out exactly what the problem is that would be causing this to happen.

Phone Randomly Restarting

My new Z3 has randomly restarted twice today when sitting by itself on a desk. Any thoughts as to what's going on?
i experience once while i was sleeping in the middle of the nite. it suddenly restarted which cause me to wake up.
same here it happened while it was sitting on the desk, after the restart it did updates for apps from the google play store
Same here, soft reboot today when Phone was not in use. No need to enter pin.
The first night with SIM card inn it, it restarted a bunch of times. The two previous days I did not notice any restart but cannot say for sure that is did not. It has restarted only at night. Last night it did not restart, but it restarted this morning. I have not found any logging feature or app that could point to the reason for the reboots. Annoying!
random reboot
I still get this random reboot problem every now and then, phone was on stamina mode whole day today and restarted twice randomly. Have you guys found a soln on that?
I have literally the same issue. Have you guys found a solution or a culprit yet?
I think that I've just found the solution. I had the same problem for a while, at the beginning I had some reboots once or twice a day, but the other day I had 15-20 reboots in the same day, I did a factory reset but the problem was still there. Using the phone I noticed that I was in TeslaUnread settings when the phone rebooted, I tried againg and it rebooted always when that app was opened. So, I uninstalled it and I had no reboots for days. Today, I reinstalled it and after 5 minutes the phone rebooted. Now I'm pretty sure that the problem was that app. Tell me if you notice the same thing
Try to uninstall the apps who are not update for long time( such 4-5 month or more ) and see the result. For me works, after I uninstall one app ( I having 2-3 rebooting by day ) who are updated last time in 2013 my phone not have anymore random rebooting ( passed one month ! ) . I am pretty sure you have installed an application that does not support Lollipop ( is not updated for lollipop ).
Sorry to bump an old thread, but this problem has been driving me nuts and I think I may have a solution. Specifically for my phone (a Z3c), it seems to be related to the SD card. I had a similar problem last year where the SD card would be corrupted and cause lags/data loss. I then bought a new SD card. Now, the phone has been randomly powering itself off and will not even charge when powered off. Then, at a random future time, the phone will be able to be charged/turned on as if nothing happened. This behavior has become increasingly more common
I've tried reformatting, deleting unnecessary programs, clearing caches, etc. The reformat seemed to help for a few days and then the problem returned. Last night I did some more troubleshooting and removed the SD card. It remained powered on for the whole night (for the first time all week). In the morning, I put the SD card back in and the phone wouldn't power on.
Right now I'm wondering if anyone else having the same problem with their Sony Z can cure it by removing their SD card? I'm going to next try to reformat the SD card and, if that doesn't work, buy a new (maybe slower) SD card. My current SD card is a 64gb class X which I've anecdotally heard can have timing issues with some SD controllers. I find it strange to have problems with two separate SD cards in my phone though. Either I'm very unlucky, SD cards aren't made for longevity, and/or the Sony Z has a controller that eventually kills or corrupts SD cards.
I still have reboots on the latest firmware, full stock, no mods and no shady things installed. It seems like this phone is not able to last more than 10 days without crashing and rebooting at least once. Today I thought the problem was solved as I didn't have any reboot for the last 9 days but as I was reading a page on chrome, I left the phone unattended for 5 minutes as I went to get some food and when I was back I was greeted with the boot animation. This is absolutely shameful, feeling the buyers remorse already. If course there is no way to tell why it happened.
if your phone is under warranty, get it fixed.
Huge waste of time if it's a software issue. Also I already had the phone serviced and factory reseted and I still have the reboots. Does anyone of you guys have these kind of reboots? You can see in diagnostics, system incidents.
