TYTN II In Car Charger problem - General Questions and Answers

I've a problem with in car charger for my tytn II.
It was working fine 'till 2 months ago when it suddenly stopped to work.
TYTN II have no problems with mini USB cable connected to PC and no problem with AC power charger.
I've tried everything, another in car charger(it's from motorola), tried my originate in car charger in another car(which was working earlier and suddenly stopped)...
And just to mentition that some other equipment such as portable dvd player is working just fine in my car.
I'm using sakajama's ROM Hyperdragon III from 3.december...
So, it's really frustrating.
In car charger worked and suddenly stopped, there is still light on it's bottom(tried motorola's in car charger too), AC charger work fine and pc connection too.
Any ideas?
P.S. Also I've tried soft reset TYTn during in car charging but no success

There's loads on here about similar problems, just do a quick search; one thread is this one...

The mini USB is very temperamental, and isn't very robust.
Best bet is to get a proper HTC car charger.

Agree with comments above, bite the bullet and use the offical HTC car charger, worked fine on my TYTN II and also my new Topaz TD2

Tom Tom Navigator 2 Bluetooth

I have now purchased the above GPS system and with the Tom Tom Nav2 BT/XDA II fix (dowloadable off the TT website) have it working absolutely fine....wow at last!!
Question, before I blow something. If anyone has the TT Navigator 2 Wireless kit (and possibly the wired too), it comes with a Cigar lighter charger that powers the GPS unit and this device/lead has an "extension power connector" piggy backed on it so it can connect to a PDA also. It comes with a connector for the Ipaq, not suitable for the XDA II. However, with the XDA II supplied acessories comes a small plug in connector for connecting to the XDA II AC power lead, so that you can charge the XDA II outside of its USB cradle, and this connector fits the piggy back type connection. I am obviously wanting to use this in lieu of the supplied Ipaq connector to enable charging of the GPS and my XDA II simultaneously. Anyone know if this is OK? Logically, it seems to be the answer to charging both devices from one Cigar lighter? Don't want to blow anything. Comments welcomed, thank you. Steve
i use the xda adapter with the cigar lighter charger and it works fine
Hi Steve,
I use XDA II connector with the cigar lighter, no problem.
Hi Steve
The same here , I have used it for 2 weeks no problems.

help with lead, not even sure what its called!?!

Hi
Ive got a emtac GPS bluetooth reciever and this comes with an in car charger. The charger lead splits into 2 with one side going into the emtac and the other should go into the XDA II
However the connecting lead is missing. So I need a lead that goes from the split into the bottom of the XDA II - I already have a XDA II power connector that goes into the bottom of the XDA so its just the lead to connect the 2?
I hope I have explained that????
Any help would be great
cheers

It would be very unusual for a bluetooth wireless gps to be supplied with a lead that links the pda with the gps, if you have the car charger for the gps and a car charger for the xda then all you need is a double adaptor for your lighter socket to take both chargers. If this doesnt answer your question then try here and look at all the different leads, if your gps uses a standard mini usb plug then you can use the Fortuna lead to power your pda and gps a the same time. If you are going to be using a cable that links both I wonder what the sense is in buying a wireless gps because it rather defeats the object.
hi
thanks for the response, i can see your point about connecting a BT device to a BT XDA with wires - sorta defeats the object!
However I suppose it is saving on chargers?
I already have a 4 way in car adaptor, but one is taken for charging my phone, one for my BT headset, one for the BT GPS reciever and the 4th can only be used for an actual cigarette lighter, meaning I am one short for my XDA
So if I can get the lead to connect the GPS power to the xda then im fully charged!
My car looks like spaghetti junction with all the wires!

Can anyone recommend a USB sync-and-charge cable

Went to the Palm store and tried their cable that's supposed to sync and charge. It doesn't work with the Treo 750. However, the Palm branded cable did sync and charge with the Treo 680. Can anyone recommend a USB cable that's sure to work with the 750 cable to synchronize and charge the phone when connected? Thanks!
i've got an unbranded sync & charge cable which works fine - just check out ebay. i've also got a palm cradle and a "just mobile" cradle both of which sync & charge just fine.

Can u tried to check/uncheck in
[Start]--[Settings]--[Connections]--[USB to PC]
and reconnect to PC again with your cable.
If still unable to, pls let me know.

I've got the palm cradle too and sync and charge without problems.
Thanks guys, for all the responses. Looking more for a cable. I have USB cigarette charger and a laptop so it'd be easier to just lug around one thing when travelling and eliminate the bulk of the cradle.
Seidio retractable
I have a Seidio retractable sync & charge cable. Ran into it in a shop on Detroit airport. Works perfect and is very small and easy to carry around. According to the package description it was not for the 750, it only mentioned the older PalmOS based models, but it works perfect.

Thanks, psimoons. So that means that the Seido cable charges & syncs with the Treo 750?
The Pocket PC Techs sync-charge cables for the Treo 650/700/750v also work very well. ppctechs.com
Just look on ebay for a USB sync/charge retractable cable. They are cheap on eBay. The noname brand one that I got works great with my 750v, and is actually very good quality.

WM6.1 Charging issue on Brodit Car Holder

Hi all,
I've a Brodit car holder, and I've a strange issue...
With all 6.1 ROM's, all radio versions, when my Kaiser is in the Car holder, he start charging for about 5 min, then stop and the process flip all 5 min.
I don't have the problem with a 6.0 ROM...
Anybody have the same strange behavior ???
I have a Brodit active holder with no issues. I'm using Dutty's 6.1 ROM.
I also have an active Brodit holder and no issues.

There are many issues that can affect charging. The biggest issue regarding charging with Automotive & PC USB I have seen are usually a result of a carelessly placed stylus during a soft reset attempt. Take a look at the USB port on your Kaiser. If it is slightly curved or lowered on the right side of port you are a victim of a poor design in location of the USB port.
I have had & seen several cases just like this, where the charge light will come on, but it won;'t charge & after a few moments the charge indicator light goes out. If your port pin is bent this can cause the auto chargers in paticular to fail while home chargers still function. If your USB port pin is indeed bent, & not broken, sometimes you can fix it by straightening it vey carefully with your stylus.
Also check to make sure the "Allow USB Charge" box is checked.
Hi Gsleon
I've check my USB port, and he is right in the middle...
But I find something...
Seems it's a bluethoot issue, as I use auto profile to start bluethoot when my tytn is powered without ActiveSync...
I've disable the auto profile, then no BT, and now, my kaiser start charging normally in the car.
Jonteponte, could you check if this is the same for you ?

is there a usb splitter?

forgive my ignorance but is there such a thing as a mini usb splitter for the diamond so i can chare it in the car and plug it into my car stereo?
many thanks.
