WM6.1 Charging issue on Brodit Car Holder - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hi all,
I've a Brodit car holder, and I've a strange issue...
With all 6.1 ROM's, all radio versions, when my Kaiser is in the Car holder, he start charging for about 5 min, then stop and the process flip all 5 min.
I don't have the problem with a 6.0 ROM...
Anybody have the same strange behavior ???

I have a Brodit active holder with no issues. I'm using Dutty's 6.1 ROM.

I also have an active Brodit holder and no issues.

There are many issues that can affect charging. The biggest issue regarding charging with Automotive & PC USB I have seen are usually a result of a carelessly placed stylus during a soft reset attempt. Take a look at the USB port on your Kaiser. If it is slightly curved or lowered on the right side of port you are a victim of a poor design in location of the USB port.
I have had & seen several cases just like this, where the charge light will come on, but it won;'t charge & after a few moments the charge indicator light goes out. If your port pin is bent this can cause the auto chargers in paticular to fail while home chargers still function. If your USB port pin is indeed bent, & not broken, sometimes you can fix it by straightening it vey carefully with your stylus.
Also check to make sure the "Allow USB Charge" box is checked.

Hi Gsleon
I've check my USB port, and he is right in the middle...
But I find something...
Seems it's a bluethoot issue, as I use auto profile to start bluethoot when my tytn is powered without ActiveSync...
I've disable the auto profile, then no BT, and now, my kaiser start charging normally in the car.
Jonteponte, could you check if this is the same for you ?

help with lead, not even sure what its called!?!

Hi
Ive got a emtac GPS bluetooth reciever and this comes with an in car charger. The charger lead splits into 2 with one side going into the emtac and the other should go into the XDA II
However the connecting lead is missing. So I need a lead that goes from the split into the bottom of the XDA II - I already have a XDA II power connector that goes into the bottom of the XDA so its just the lead to connect the 2?
I hope I have explained that????
Any help would be great
cheers

It would be very unusual for a bluetooth wireless gps to be supplied with a lead that links the pda with the gps, if you have the car charger for the gps and a car charger for the xda then all you need is a double adaptor for your lighter socket to take both chargers. If this doesnt answer your question then try here and look at all the different leads, if your gps uses a standard mini usb plug then you can use the Fortuna lead to power your pda and gps a the same time. If you are going to be using a cable that links both I wonder what the sense is in buying a wireless gps because it rather defeats the object.
hi
thanks for the response, i can see your point about connecting a BT device to a BT XDA with wires - sorta defeats the object!
However I suppose it is saving on chargers?
I already have a 4 way in car adaptor, but one is taken for charging my phone, one for my BT headset, one for the BT GPS reciever and the 4th can only be used for an actual cigarette lighter, meaning I am one short for my XDA
So if I can get the lead to connect the GPS power to the xda then im fully charged!
My car looks like spaghetti junction with all the wires!
cheers

Modding cradle for GPS?

Hi there,
I currently have a recently deceased ipaq 3630 with GPS cable, currently hardwired into my car (I just took the plastics off the plug, hard wired it to ground and ignition power and re-boxed it)
Anyways, I also have an Orange M1000 with 2 cradles, and I'm a cheap*ss mofo.... so what I'm basically planning on is:-
get pinouts for ipaq 3630
get pinouts for M1000 (I see they're in a post in this forum)
cut ipaq end off GPS cable and strip
cut usb end off M1000 cradle cable and strip
using multimeter buzz out the pin -> colour on each of the cables
wire together
glue (or duck tape or something) cradle into car
I'm working on the theory that the gps -> ipaq connection is going to have power and tx/rx which will be all I need for the gps, and that the M1000 cradle will have the same for activesync.
Anyone done this or similar, or does anyone think I'm just crazy?
Cheers
Doogie
Answering my own question because noone else did
The cradle I had was for USB not serial and I couldn't manage to get serial over USB option working in tomtom..... I opened the cradle (T6 driver), split the cable to leave the power going where it was but split out the 2 usb cables and I buzzed out some points on the board where there was connectivity to the 8 & 10 pins... little bit of soldering and reassembly and I now have a serial cradle with power that connects to my GPS..... now just need to make it look purty in my car

Wizard giving shock

Hello Freinds,
I dont know whats going wrong, but whenever i connect my wizard with usb it emits electric current, i checked the usb with other phone and everything is fine.
Seems like some problem with my wizard.
Anybody know wats wrong??
Probably non Wizard Cable
I have the same issue.
I'm not using a wizard cradle but a mere Motorola V3 cable.
It seems now the MiniUSB is a standard around now.
But it seems the MiniUSB cradle that is coming with the wizard or same cables do not have this issue.
Aldo
Same here, i'm not able to have a call while i have the phone connected with USB or charging. I don't know why but it gives shocks...
Hmm...
About the calls but was active sync connected when you couldn't get a call
please give us the radio ROMnumber and OS also
Aldo
Ive had that problem also and i dunno about anyone else but i simply took out the power cord and plugged it in again but facing the other way (im guessing u have a simple 2 prong cord without that middle round prong like i do). Im think it is something to do with the positive and negative thingy (yes i know practically nothing about electronics i dont need to be flamed for it) simple but it worked for me give it a try and tell ur results
Actually thats not the problem only with usb but also charger, today i tested with charger and then also the i get the shock. I think theres some problem in the phone usb connector.
Well tommorow i will give it to service centre. Lets see...
shock
Well this is a problem that I had too- especially if I touched the damn phone barefoot.
The issue seems to be related to proper earthing (grounding) of the electricity supply.
@samy 3660- This is especially true in India since the US or European connectors do not have the earth pin for Indian sockets
The problem goes away if you put in proper earth terminal (for charger) or ground the PC case properly.
I had the same problem with my laptop at camp in Croatia, whenever I connected power supply I got shock from any metal part of my notebook. in other countries later it was ok, next year at same camp same problem so there could be problem with your electricity, sorry my english

In car usage

The Polaris comes with the HTC unique connector combining both USB and headphone sockets in one.
My problem is this: How can I slip the Polaris into an active mount (such as a Brodit) as well as connect to the car stereo using an audio lead?
From the Brodit web page about the active holder for the Touch Cruise:
The active holder charges your battery when it is in the holder. The charging device connects to the PDA automatically when you put the PDA in the holder. The holder is attached onto a tilt swivel and can be adjusted in order to avoid light reflection. Connects to the vehicle´s cigarette lighter socket, 12/24 Volt. Attach onto ProClip Mounting Platform.

So it seems that it is not possible to connect the device to audio while it is in the active holder.
This will do the job:

I received mine today, I will test this tomorrow!

The problem I see is that when you use a splitter (and I see that HTC themselves supply one: Y Cable) you need to connect the splitter into the bottom of the Polaris, but you can't then put the Polaris into the active holder.
The only solution I can see is to use a passive holder, but this then makes everything a bit of a fiddle.
Anyone got any other solutions?
Are there no Artemis users out there who have already solved this problem?
you could try this

TYTN II In Car Charger problem

I've a problem with in car charger for my tytn II.
It was working fine 'till 2 months ago when it suddenly stopped to work.
TYTN II have no problems with mini USB cable connected to PC and no problem with AC power charger.
I've tried everything, another in car charger(it's from motorola), tried my originate in car charger in another car(which was working earlier and suddenly stopped)...
And just to mentition that some other equipment such as portable dvd player is working just fine in my car.
I'm using sakajama's ROM Hyperdragon III from 3.december...
So, it's really frustrating.
In car charger worked and suddenly stopped, there is still light on it's bottom(tried motorola's in car charger too), AC charger work fine and pc connection too.
Any ideas?
P.S. Also I've tried soft reset TYTn during in car charging but no success
There's loads on here about similar problems, just do a quick search; one thread is this one...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498211
The mini USB is very temperamental, and isn't very robust.
Best bet is to get a proper HTC car charger.
Agree with comments above, bite the bullet and use the offical HTC car charger, worked fine on my TYTN II and also my new Topaz TD2
