Went to the Palm store and tried their cable that's supposed to sync and charge. It doesn't work with the Treo 750. However, the Palm branded cable did sync and charge with the Treo 680. Can anyone recommend a USB cable that's sure to work with the 750 cable to synchronize and charge the phone when connected? Thanks!
i've got an unbranded sync & charge cable which works fine - just check out ebay. i've also got a palm cradle and a "just mobile" cradle both of which sync & charge just fine.

Can u tried to check/uncheck in
[Start]--[Settings]--[Connections]--[USB to PC]
and reconnect to PC again with your cable.
If still unable to, pls let me know.

I've got the palm cradle too and sync and charge without problems.
Thanks guys, for all the responses. Looking more for a cable. I have USB cigarette charger and a laptop so it'd be easier to just lug around one thing when travelling and eliminate the bulk of the cradle.
Seidio retractable
I have a Seidio retractable sync & charge cable. Ran into it in a shop on Detroit airport. Works perfect and is very small and easy to carry around. According to the package description it was not for the 750, it only mentioned the older PalmOS based models, but it works perfect.

Thanks, psimoons. So that means that the Seido cable charges & syncs with the Treo 750?
The Pocket PC Techs sync-charge cables for the Treo 650/700/750v also work very well. ppctechs.com
Just look on ebay for a USB sync/charge retractable cable. They are cheap on eBay. The noname brand one that I got works great with my 750v, and is actually very good quality.

Hi,
title says it all really... I damaged my cable. As I still have the Haicom receiver, I still want to use it.
I can't find this cable anywhere.
The cable in question is the in car charger cable for the XDA/XDA2 but also connects the GPS receiver to the XDA. The connection to the Haicom HI-203e is a PS/2 connector (same as older mouse or keyboard).
If anyone knows where I can get one of the in the UK i'd appreciate it if you could let me know where.....
XDA2 is a cool tool...

try:
http://www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/allprods.php?compared_products=&page=1&category_id=12
or ebay sellers usually sell them for £20
Or if your capable with a soldering iron you can make yourself one
http://www.vanhemert.biz/Car_Kit_GPS_Connection.htm
HTH

tried it...
Thanks Swifty.
Tried to do this but used a incar charger instead of the car kit.
Didn't work.
The HI-203e was getting power but not enough...
I think the resistor in the car charger must be bigger than the one in the proper cable...
And, I have also tried to find this cable on Ebay...
Impossible, if anyone does find one tho let me know.
I have scoured the Internet trying to find this cable with NO joy...
Sno
phone up GPS systems and ask......
Sno, you can always grab a universal incar ciggy adaptor from maplin or similar, they are only £7 then just set the dial to 5Volts (or whatever the 203 needs) then put the + and - cables onto the cable you made, obviously you will need a ciggy lighter splitter for your car, so that you can use your charge cable, and gps @ the same time. Or grab yourself a female lighter socket and cable it upto your battery..
..got it...
managed to find it @

Hi there
I did mine with a Sync cable only.
Went 100%. I Had no problems.
I think the only reason why there should be power with th cradle, is if the PPC's battery went flat during a ROM upgrade, it can be disasterous.
But you shouldnt have a problem!
Cheers
also being powered by the pc power could disappear if the pc crashed (or if connected to a unpowered hub along with other devices stealing some of the 500mA that a usb port can max provide)
but if the cradle have the connection to the psu too the chances you can carry on after the pc reboots are bigger
I was concerned about this too - but went ahead anyway with a USB sync cable which i got off ebay, connected to a powered USB hub.
It takes half an hour approx and I had no problems
I want to get a second cable to charge my touch pro while I am at work, can I got and buy any 5-pin mini USB cable or do I have to order a HTC cable?
Standard cable will be fine
I've just looked at the USB cable Expansys sell (http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=166227) but looking at the picture the plug is a differant shape to the socket on my Touch pro. I can't find anywhere that sells a cable that looks like the socket (rectangular with bottom right corner chamfered, I assume everyone is the same). Can anyone point me in the right direction?
You already have answer from ardsar
For charging standard mini-USB cable is ok.
Yes, and what I said was that a standard mini usb has a differant plug. How can I use it if it has a differant plug?
yes it does, but so did the HTC3300, but the charger and data cable use the 'standard' mini usb connector.
I have one (car charger and 'standard' usb cable) and they both fit fine, work fine and charge fine. so no need to worry.
Basically, a normal mini-usb plug will fit in HTCs proprietary socket

I've bought mini USB cable with charging option and charging works great but my PC doesn't recognize my HTC Diamond connected with that cable to USB. It works with the original one but with that I've bought synchronizing data on any USB ports just doesn't work.It seems that PC needs special driver for that cable.
Could anyone Help?
all (mini)usb cables should charge your phoen when you connect it to the PC anyway so i don't understand how this cable is different, could you please provide a link to it or something?
I got a mini USB cable used with my mp3 player and it just synchronizes data with my Diamond but it doesn't charge so not every mini USB cable sync data and charge...
I've bought my cable on polish auction site byt that one mini USB cable is exactly the same.
The problem is you have bought a "charging" cable, I'm guessing if you chopped it in half (please don't) there would only be two wires, a positive and negative.
These cables are designed to provide power only, otherwise the cable would be a lot thicker.
You would want something like this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/95790
But don't quote me on that or you might get the same problem, ring up before you buy.
The cable you have with your MP3 player wouldn't be designed to charge if your MP3 player isn't designed to charge, manufactureres will save money even if it's on a few strands of extra cable.
There are 3 types of cables I've come accross:
1) ExtUSB -> Used by HTC only. Main difference is that this cable can transport audio as well. You only need to use this cable if youre listening to songs. (Your earphone connector is a true extUSB one) - the rest is the same as miniUSB
2) Normal miniUSB -> You can use this cable for charging and synching. As simple as that. Same cable used by non-HTC devices
3) Abnormal miniUSB -> Heh.. I don't know what to call this, but im sure you've seen some really thin retractable cables. They seem to work with certain devices only. I have 1 and it used to work on my Cruise/Artemis/Atom, but NOT on my diamond. Nevertheless, I can charge the device ONLY. -> I believe you've encountered this kinda cable
Check out the following posts: I've got a solution if youre really onto retractable cables that will sync+charge your diamond:
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=101534&st=140&p=743848&#entry743848
http://www.ppcsg.com/index.php?showtopic=101534&view=findpost&p=744813
Cheers.
I'm sure I have encountered 3rd case. My retractable cable description says that it is for synchronizing data and charging but as you said maybe it works fully only with certain devices.
I think I will look for USB hub with retractable cable and that I've bought I will use for charging only...
Thanks
Hi,
Did you buy this kind of converter?
If yes, where did you buy it?
I found this one:
http://www.fommy.co.uk/view-full-page.asp?skuno=83010
But I am not sure if this can be used to sync data or disk drive mode.
I also found this one:
http://www.pdaplus.nl/catalog/adapter-mini-usb-micro-usb-p-4165.html
Please share your info
Thanks.
The first one looks similar to the one that I got from eBay. It charges fine with my HP data messenger (or whatever it's called) but doesn't charge with the Desire unless I "wiggle" it about.
I bought mine here http://cgi.ebay.nl/MINI-USB-TO-MICRO-USB-ADAPTER-FOR-HTC-DESIRE-HD-MINI_W0QQitemZ110509230074QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneChargers?hash=item19badd07fa
But it seems that I can only charge my Desire with my USB cable + converters. It doesn't sync, I tried several of my USB cables.
Yeah I bought the ecell adapters and have the same problem, they only charge. Sent them back for a refund.
I did also get a usb cable from them usb to micro and that works ok, albeit a bit slow. Takes about 15secs to recognise its a drive. Seems to copy files across at a decent speed though.
Anyone had success with mini - micro usb adapters
I am going to buy this:
http://shop.brando.com/mini-usb-to-micro-usb-adapter-w-on-off-switch_p04160c0006d001.html
From the specification, you can charge AND sync !
And it is only $6 + $3 delivery cost (worldwide).
