Hi. Just wanted some opinions here. I'm currently a TyTN II user. But I've seen the new Xperia and 800w Treo(rumored) specs, and they look promising. I use wifi alot, not much in the name of GPS, but heavy texting/emailing, not much of document editing while on my PDA (that's why I carry around my MacBook Pro ) and also, definitely, as an organizer(d'oh) Which phone do you think I should go with? Should I stick? Or change? To which? Please state your reasons why too.
I will keep my opinion reserved till something is known about the Tero screen if it is 320 X 320 or 240 X 240.
Right now I am waiting for my ipaq 614C to arrive to replace my TyTn II
The Xperia looks really nice with a great screen (no multipoint touchscreen yet though). Specs look great.
The treo looks like crap. I hate their keyboards. The screen hasn't changed, and it still only has a 1.3MP camera.
I'll definitely be taking a look at the Sony.
Let's assume for the sake of the poll that Treo is 320x320. What then?
Stick with the TyTN II until they are released, which still isn't for quite a while.
As soon as the Xperia is released, the kaiser will almost certainly have the graphics drivers ported to it which will make it even better than it is now.

Multi touch is not supported by WM ATM, so no advantage in having hardware thats better than the software.
Stick with the TyTn II. When the others are available, let's see then. IMO the Treo is not a big advantage over the TyTn (by the way, it's 320x320). The Xperia looks really nice but won't be available for a long time, and then, we know nothing about the price and final features. When it IS available, will it still be the most interesting gadget, or will there be others? Why should you make your mind about that now, when we know nothing about the future?
Given that the biggest complaints about the TyTN II are things that no-one knew would be an issue until after it launched, it would seem to be very premature for anyone to be saying that they will be getting either of those devices. Surely what happened with the TyTN II makes this point all the more salient; I am guessing that there was a lot of hype for it, and now a large minority of users are desperately unhappy with it.
For the record, I am extremely happy with mine. The other 2 devices would have to be truly outstanding to persuade me to move on.
Hmmm... interesting... Xperia winning over TyTN II by a slight margin... but 800w no points... keep it coming guys!!
Sony Xperia X1 does not have the driver for MSM7200 too, but seem Sony may going to implement it when it is "necessary"
So, any advantages compare to TYTN 2?
Wow!! Treo800w has 0 votes... darn!!
I really liked what I seen until now about Xperia

i voted keep tytn but im also a strong suporter in the xperia i just said keep tytn cus for the stuff you say you use the xperia wont be any better then your kaiser
I know I'm super late but today I managed to play with a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1. Honestly that phone is hands down the best WM6.1 phone to have come out in 2008. I fell inlove with the interface. Is it possible to put that interface on the ATT Fuze? I would LOVE my phone if it was possible.

i feel like teh fuze with spb 3 is AMAZING. beats the iphone in terms of UI (now taht the portrait landscape bug is apparently fixed). try that? it has a carousel which you can configure to work like the tabs that the x1 has as well

yeah i played with one a month or two ago and it was fun
i don't tihnk there's any way to unless you flash an x1 rom? I don't think this would be all too stable thoguh...i haven't seen any apps or skins or shells for this though. IMO SPB MS3 comes teh closest to that experience, but it's not teh same, i know
Hi all,
maybe a stupid question but maybe not.
I usually use a Kaiser and a Blackstone and I'd like to buy a new device BUT I can't understand last choices from HTC...
Why Rhodium can be better than Raphael...? only for the bigger screen and tilt? For only these reasons I can't accept to have a so big device in my pants!!!
I compared datasheet but I can't find anything more... can you explain me the secret of this comparison?

Well
Design is much better on TP2, size screen, keyboard (As some mention)
Have a lookinto Rhodium section and see what others say about it
Just my opinion
OK. As you can already see from my signature, I am a raphael owner. The thing I like in new tp is the resolution. But thats all.. Its way too big and design is too japanese - like a soap. The "old" TP, Diamond and new Diamond2 has beautiful straight lines which makes it look sterling and maybe a bit more objective/traditional. Not so biopod-like (check the movie "eXistenZ"). The new TP2 has also a proximity sensor and a newer manila (which will be fully ported any moment now to other phones). The keyboard... I dont know. I have no problems with mine as I use it all the time to chat in MSN/skype. I removed these apps from my laptop. But as we already know the specs are VERY similar.
And of course - the new TP2 is much more expensive. Compared to the differences the new TP2 is just a marketing trick.
Like the previous poster I am also saying that this is my own opinion

The strange thing is that unofficial news speak about a lower price than tpro. If so I'll be really confused.
I agree with your opinion... maybe diamond2 (compared to HD that I own) and pro2 are only made for marketing trick

tp2's design is not finalized yet. So we'll see i guess.
Check out the Rhodium section for exciting info...a few have just bought the TP2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=488
Just curious whether you folks at XDA will be adding a forum/subforum for the Droid?
im just guessing this wont happen. this site modify phones by htc only.
yeah, like the HTC Palm Treo and the HTC Sony Ericcson X1, like he said

Actually, pretty sure HTC did manufacture the Xperia. The Treo on the other hand...
Anyway, I think it would be a shame to miss out on the Droid rush. It's going to be the biggest Android phone this year (if not longer) and will probably spawn a whole new wave of development.
HTC did manufacture the X1 and the Treo.
Historically, XDA-Developers has been HTC only. This is really crappy because there are other devices out there that could benefit this community if the forum sections were created. The Motorola Droid is one of them.
I'd love to see that happen
Since I just picked one up.

That's probably covered under the Hero subforum, since it's basically another CDMA HTC Hero.

I'm going to be really upset if my favorite XDA devs won't be working on the Droid platform.. I LOVE it and it's the first handset that can handle those crazy ROMs.
HTC Hero UI on Droid?
I just got a Moto Droid the other day over the Eris due to its keyboard and hardware specs...
BUT, the Eris has a much nicer UI (Home Screen, Contacts, Widgets etc) thanks to HTC (as usual)
Because both the devices are Android (however different versions from what I understand), is it possible to get the Widgets and Home screen from the Eris on the Droid??
I am obviously new to Android and have typically been a Windows Mobile user (Used the HTC TouchFlo on the Omnia and what not), and would really like to continue to use HTC's UI's on my Droid.
Do you think this is possible, and if so perhaps this particular topic could be a forum dedicated to it on XDA

The hero widgets are highly coupled with the framework of the device. Therfore if you wanted to run them they just simply wont work. There is a 3rd party alternative called beautiful widgets for $0.99 cents of the android market.
I have also picked up a Droid and want to see it here, until the Leo comes out this is the Android phone to have.
Ditto! Ditto! Ditto!
Agreed, lets hack this phone wide open even if it's not htc!
many unique problems for this platform, especially if you really want SenseUI.
Me personally, I'd rather see a Cyanogen build...but we need root first and foremost...and a good recovery img.
Screen capture of Droid Bootloader is here.

We are not that far, with the help of XDA team we could get there so fast.
Just so you all know... Alldroid.org supports the Droid... we're also getting clues on how to root it!!!
PLEASE
I would really like to see a Droid/ any other andorid phone sub forum. this site has the most expansive wealth of information and i feel that having XDA as a resource for Droid users would greatly advance the android platform.
TO XDA: i know you folks only do HTC phones but please, listen to the community so other members can help us out. just so you know all other fourms related to the DROID are disasters!! help we the droid users!
i second this request!
Yes please. Expand your views. It's not only HTC thats interesting
First off, just want to say hi to everyone. I've been browsing the forums recently and finally registered. Hope to stay for a while!
Anyways, I'm trying to decide between which smartphone to get. The HTC Diamond, Xperia X1 or the iPhone. The only reason why the iPhone is not a winner in my books is due mainly to its appearance. I love small sleek phones and the iPhone is far from it (in my opinion) but its functionality is hard to ignore.
I'm in Canada with Rogers so the HTC Hero was out of reach for me (I've had some bad experiences with Telus) so its basically down to these 3. I've talked to a Rogers salesmen who really bashed the Windows Mobile; claiming that its quite slow, especially the Diamond. Claims that its quite sluggish and just not worth it. I'm not at all familiar with the ROM scene and all that but willing to learn. Are there ways to enhance the devices running WM? Any sort of opinion on any of these phones would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome to HTC XDA! None of the above...Of course we recommend HTC HD2 top of the line PPC!! See the LEO section for the specs & info...
SE Xperia 10
I´ll choose Xperia because it´s keyboard so my vote goes for it
But there are much better HTC devices like Touch Pro 2 (the best hardware keyboard device) or Leo (the best no hardware kb device)
Thank you for the welcome.
As much as I'd like to try out the Leo, X10 or Touch Pro 2, availability is an issue. I'd like a phone pretty much now and as I only want to buy under local retail, my options are significantly hindered.
So, lets pretend all your lives depends on picking one of the 3 phones listed?
Ok, so I've tried all three of them and I own a X1 (and a touch HD).
I would say get X1 over Diamond, reasons:
X1 has hardware keyboard
X1 has higher resolution screen
Both are very customizable thanks to custom ROMs etc from XDA.
With the iPhone, everything just works out of the box.
Nice big capacitive touch screen, finger friendly.
Loads of apps in the app store (for almost every need, like find the nearest ATM, play the flute, etc etc.)
The downside is that it isn't so customizable unless you jailbreak it.
IF you jailbreak it, a whole new world appears, (no warez talk here, but) you can get your hands on everything the "illegal" way (games, apps, etc), but also making your phone less secure (thanks to the jailbreak).
Obviously pirated stuff are also avaliable for PPCs.
So I would say it's between the X1 and the iPhone.
Where as the iPhone seems to be for the younger audience and the X1 feels more "business".
