Hello,
Tt happened something strange to my Touch Pro today.
My rear (external) speaker doesn't make any sound.
I just don't know what to do.
I'm using the latest official HTC rom. When I plug in my headset - I can hear everything, but the rear speaker isn't working. I can't hear any rings from my phone, text messages sounds .. nothing. It's not system settings problem. I tried to hard reset my device - the same.
Do you meet with something like this?
i had the same problem, open back whitout talking the batery out, push softly near the speaker on the side , there is a black tape there, i had to put a sort of paper to push it so it will work, mine fell down... see if it is the same problem.....
Thanks for your answer.
That's a little problem. I don't want to loose my warranty, I can't touch my warranty void. I will try to send my phone to the service.
i have the same problem, i posted about this a couple of days ago here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=508569
my phone was returned today and it wasn't working at all, even if i squeezed the housing. it is now going to be replaced.
you'll have to contact your mobile operator, it should be repaired or replaced under warranty.

So my raphael is screwed.
1. I cannot hear anyone on a call without the headset. They can hear me, but I cannot hear them. I can get volume thru the speaker in any other application for the most part except phone calls.
2. I can hear them with the headset, but it's wonky and tends to dial other numbers and even stranger behaviors with the broken headset that I believe may have damaged it.
3. The phone is stuck in landscape mode and constantly engaging the TV-out mode. (Tv-out mode splash screen comes up intermittently
4. It doesn't actually output video anymore via the video cable - only audio. Video is a black screen. Call audio will play on TV, but microphone still not engaged.
5. Will not remain steadily connected to computer via USB.
6. It *does* accept a charge from USB, Car Charger and Standard AC charger.
Sometimes - for brief peroids - it does work. I have done soft and hard resets and removed the battery, wiped it clean- etc to no avail.
Any suggestions on what I can do to fix it? It seems to me to be something wrong with the USB port pins - or something worse.
I have an unlocked international one that I run on T-mobile (which doesn't carry the Raphael). This girl I am dating stepped on one of the headset buds and destroyed it which - I could be wrong, messed up the USB port?
i repair phone. seem like alot more damge to it, check for liquid damage
It does sound like a lot of damage, but it's never gotten wet at all.
Go to service shop.
Try to hard reset and see if that fixes it! might be a corrupted registry or software.
Well my answer is;
date another Girl.. well i just had to say that out of my mind and sorry for that okey back to seriousity...
try taking a hardreset as RebelShadow said and if that doesn't cure your phone you should go to a rapir center.. well do you have warrenty? that might help in situations like that..
It sounds to me like you have a broken contact on the USB. To make a TV adapter from the usb adapter - you have to break one of the pins. Your symptoms seem to be the equivalent of that - with regards to sound going out and not back, and the TV screen popping up.
I believe either the headset has a broken pin - or the contact on the usb port was broken. I might have missed it, but have you tested any other headsets with the TP?
Yes.. That's what the problem sounds like you nailed it P0ll0L0c0 - I think personally from observation that the damage is on the USB port on the phone itself.
Hard reset doesn't do it, and sometimes it comes back to normal briefly, but still unsure how that happens (from putting a cable in and it pushes the USB broken contact to the right place temporarily?)
Should I send it to repair? Or attempt to repair it myself?

One way or another, I'd send it back. If you have insurance, or are within 30 days - it should be easy. Good luck.
I am in New York.
Anyone have some suggestions where I should take it or send it to get repaired?
Firstly, my screen does not show visuals. I can still touch the screen and make things happen, but it is just a back-lighted black screen. I have answered calls on it and such. Basically I'm returning it and getting a new one.
Since I am getting a new one, I want to see if anyone ever heard of this problem and to see what the cause of it is, for prevention purposes.
I didn't get it wet (the white sticker in the back is still white.) Though I have flashed PROven ROM to it a couple months ago (it's a great ROM by the way), but could that have messed up my screen?
I also wanted to know since I can't see the screen, would I have to, for warranty purposes, (blindly) reflash to the Stock ROM?
Thanks in advance!
Yeah, you probably oughta return it to stock configuration (good luck on that!). If you're really lucky, that might even fix the problem. Have you done a hard reset yet? Might be worth a try, although it certainly sounds like a hardware problem.
Sounds like the flex cable has gone bad
Exactly same thing happened to me this Tuesday. Luckly I backed up info to memory card using PimBackupV2.8 with remote control software on my PC. With the remote contol tool, I could see everything as if on my phone and icons are clickable.
Hard reset did not fix the issue. I then flashed the shipped official ROM and stock SPL for warranty purpose. Will send the phone to them today for repair.
mine also like that..
from vodafone also..
the things that make me panics is the phone become hotter and hotter.

Summer is coming...
Sometimes they make updating phones too easy......
The back of my phone often gets hot I have to use the edges to hold it even though it was not a hot day and it is in my pocket.
blank screen
ya so my screen is blank white
but everything else works
i've heard something about this being a faulty "flex cable"
how can i fix this?
thanks so much for your help
how do i fix this???
did you eventually find out how to fix this/???
u ever end up fixing that? how?
thankss
Mine was still in warranty so I rang Vodafone. They sent me a special delivery envelop the following day. I sent it back to them. The following day I got a text message from them saying they got it and was working on it to fix the fault. The next day received another message saying the device was on the way back to me and I should receive it the following day.
Actually they sent me back a replacement
So.. basically.. is this a faulty flex thing?
I had the same problem for the last week until today i was about to buy another one since i dont have any warranty for this one.. I searched google and saw somebody say that just putting a business card between the keyboard and the lcd and then slide it and it works so far
hope it helps everybody
Ack! my Fuze, which I got off eBay a few months back, just went black too.
I'm not exactly sure whether it's the LCD or the flex cable, but the fact that the D-pad backlight also has become intermittent makes me think it's the cable.
So has anyone attempted the flex cable repair themselves? I see you can buy the cable for around $40 and the LCD for around $80 from Hong Kong.
Maybe this is a sign I should just get an Android device.

Did you end up fixing it? I have the same problem.
same thing happened to me Twice.... in my sleep overnight. I LOOOOOOOOVe my raphael but man this was the last straw
This maybe of some help for those of you with blank screens. I bought a Touch Pro on ebay that had a very dark screen, occasionally you could just make out some icons being displayed. Using Mymobiler showed that the basic system was working, as was the touchscreen. Other symptoms were that the camera would not work and the keypad lighting was intermittent. Sometimes on connection to Mymobiler a dialog box would come up saying there was an error with Microp?!?
Despite cleaning all internal connections and ensuring they were correctly and securely made the problem remained. I then noticed that the small camera used for video calls (in a socket on the main flex cable) looked very dirty and corroded. I removed the camera module and, using a fibreglass brush, cleaned the contacts on both the socket and the camera module. These were very badly corroded with verdigris.
On putting everything back together I was most surprised to find the screen was now working, as was the main camera. Unfortunately the ROM that is loaded doesn't seem to have any facility for checking the front video camera. There are still problems with sound - both the loudspeaker and the headphones seem to be dead and I have not had the opportunity to test GPS, Wifi, bluetooth, buttons, etc, however I will keep working on it.
Hope this is of help to someone.
For the last few weeks the vibration will stop randomly in the middle of typing a text or in the middle of receiving a call. I've narrowed it down to being a hardware issue because when it goes out, if I tap on the back of the phone, the vibration will start again and work for a little while. This last week it has gotten really bad and because I carry my phone in many places where I have to have it on vibrate only, I need to look into fixing it. I'm afraid that I am going to start missing calls/texts/etc because of the vibration motor not working.
I've done some searching and have only come up with several people who had software issues or who have had what sounds like a similar issue that i'm having but the resolution suggested by most people before the thread goes cold is "Drop the phone again" which may have fixed it for them. I actually tried that in case something was just coming loose but it didn't have any change.
I'm relatively handy and have done repairs on several laptops and on a few iPod Touches so I feel confident enough in cracking open the case on my phone to look at the motor but I do like to be as educated as possible before I do.
So my questions are:
1) Has anyone had similar issues to this and attempted to fix/replace the motor? Were you successful?
2) Does anyone have a closeup of just the motor area? Is it soldered in or just a cable connector of some sort? I'd like to know what I'm looking at before I dive in. I've found a few images of the board but nothing specifically of the motor area.
3) Anyone have any other suggestions/tips/hints/etc. before I jump in?
Images I've found of the motor board: Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4
What I only say is that a few months ago my phone vibrator stops working, I tought it was a hardware issue, but after installing ViperS 3.0.1 with JB and a JB kernel, it starts working again!!!
I don't know if yours is the same problem, but if you have an ICS Rom, try to flash a JB one like ViperS and test...
Hope it will helps you a little bit... :highfive:

Thanks for the suggestion. I should have put this in the original post but I am already running a JB based ROM - I'm running CM10.
I guess I shouldn't assume then that it is for sure a hardware issue. It just seems really suspect to me though because of being able to tap on the back and have it magically start vibrating again.

solution for not vibrating Sensation XE
Hi guys,
I have been reading a lot at this forum already and had the same problems with the vibration as described.
It started after a fall of the XE.
At startup the Phone vibrated normally but in the menu it stopped vibrating when I touched the screen when typing.
Vibrating continued when I dismounted the back cover (the one without the screws)
Strange I thought.. very very strange
I have been reading things about software issues and so on.
That couldn't be my problem because the Phone was Original and the problem started after a fall.
So I opened the Phone and searched for the problem. I took me for about 4 hours to find the problem.
I noticed that after the fall the backcover which you have to unmount with screws damaged a little bit of the black ribbon cable.
Exactly at the point where the backcover has a metal grounding plate.
I covered the damage of the black ribbon cable with some tape and voila, problem solved.
After thinking over the solution I can imagine what happens when you drop your Phone: the metal grounding plate damages the ribbon cable.
So: open up your Phone, look for the little damage of the ribbon cable, cover it with a little tape and your Phone will vibrate again like normal.
Hopefully you can use my solution.
My apologize for the English (Or american ) I am from the Netherlands.
With kind regards,
Klokn
my One S started to cut all audio randomly. it happens when i am talking on the phone (i have a suspicion that it's related to the way i put pressure on the phone's body, especially the bottom part, while holding it). it's usually preceded by a sharp/loud chirping noise, after which the speaker and the microphone stop working completely (the call is still on-going, but the other party cannot hear me, and i cannot hear the other party). at first, after rebooting the phone twice, it would go back to its normal mode and would function properly for a while, but now, it refuses to play any sort of audio signal at all. (for example, the YouTube app refuses to play videos, telling me that something is wrong, whereas Slacker radio refuses to broadcast any station, telling me something along the lines of "audio not functioning properly".)
i have tried wiping cache, and i have not reset the phone to factory settings and wiped all data on it. and it's still completely silent. my guess is that it is hardware related, but i don't know whether there is any solution for it or not. btw, my phone is T-Mobile US-branded, and it is unlocked (using HTCDev) and rooted. otherwise, it was (is) completely stock.
any ideas or tips?
PS: during that period of audio-silence, sometimes the phone becomes super sluggish; for example, if i press Disconnect, it takes a very long time to disconnect the call, or it takes a very long time to update the counter at the top which records the duration of the call. sometimes, the delay is so long that i get an error message "Activity Phone isn't responding", and it asks me whether i want to stop it or wait.
EDIT: i found this thread; someone suggested a little mod to the phone. still, i'd appreciate any help.
anybody?
EDIT_1: i also found this thread. seems like this is not an isolated incident.
EDIT_2: anyhow, i opened my phone (well, just the bottom plastic cover that is held in place by plastic tabs and sticky tape). there was dust along the edges, which i cleaned. and i straightened the connectors from the speaker (housed on the plastic cover) to the motherboard. it seems to have fixed things, but i only tested that for a short while. i will use the phone and report back.

just wanted to update. the issue came back after a week or so, the and phone randomly loses all audio functions. i opened it up again to make sure the speaker connections are fine (they are). to fix it, i have to power the phone off once or twice, and let it be powered-off for about 5 minutes or so, and then the sound comes back.
anybody knows of a real fix for this or should i just retire my One S and buy another phone?
The mic on my opo had an issue as people can`t hear me in phone calls. So I bought the microphone part to replace it. After replacing the whole unit. Everything was working except that when I try to unlock the phone, the screen goes black. So I decided to revert back to the original part and everything is working again. Is the part I bought faulty or is there something I missed?
Thanks!
