Hey guys, just went from the latest h build to the latest g build by just doing the update.zip method. No wipe or pre clean. Now my contacts don't sync but my gmail and calendar does, the on screen keyboard doesn't pop up anymore even tho I've enabled it, and everything seems buggy and multiple force closes. What should I do now? Is it a must to wipe the phone first back to rc29 - root - jfrc33 - then haykuro? Help would be greatly appreciated devs
No you dont have to go back to rc29. You just need to wipe when your switching builds thats all.
try reflashing to JF1.43 RC33 lite version, then try flashing once again to the haykuro G or H build, or try thedude's version
thanks
How do I perform a wipe? In the recovery manager by pressing home and power? If so after the wipe, jus apply the update.zip file?
What i do everytime just to be sure when im doing a wipe I press " Alt+w , once thats done Alt+s, once thats done, Alt+w once thats done, home+back"
yes, just boot into recovery, alt W and alt S.
If you've already loaded the G version, you should only have to do the wipe, not re-flash the ROM, but I guess if you want to make sure its perfect you can re-flash it.

So i have tried for the past few days to get RC1 working on my phone, i cannot get it to work for the life of me, im currently running build 78 on my phone, anytime i flash the new rom, it wont go past the android guy riding the skateboard, and will get stuck at bootloop on the animation, i have tried doing a fresh install, any suggestions?
Build 78? I need 10char
mmmk it says the mod version is "CYANOGENMOD-7-01162011-NIGHTLY-LIBERTY"
Build 78 doesn't even exist, lol.
You've Nandroid-ed your previous install right? Just in case.
Maybe you should try build 43, as if you use RC1, you will have the lockscreen dialer issue.
Try re-downloading the ROM's zip file. You may have got a bad one. (I realize there are MD5 tools out there, but I could never get one to work right.)
Are you are booting into clockworkmod recovery by holding down the down volume button when turning on the phone and selecting recovery? And not when you have the USB plugged in? The usb way does not work right.
Make sure you have factory wiped, wiped cache, and wiped dalvik before installing the zip. (You can use the trackball to navigate recovery fyi)
Don't use a old google apps zip either.

have you tried formatting system seperately after wiping data? as it instructs from the first release of the nightlies? (if i remember right, hah) wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache , then partitions>format system, then flash the zip ?
That hasn't been required for awhile, I believe.

Yes, i have nanaroid's backed up, as well downloaded new zip files of everything, at first i assumed it was due to wireless MAYBE that packet was dropped, downloaded it on hard wire just to be safe, fresh zip files, for everything same thing, and i dont boot while plugged into USB
Yes i have tried formatting the system.
Can you flash and boot other roms successfully? CM6 or FR008?

have you ever used Android Commander? i use it for DDMS to try to figure out whats going on sometimes with my phone if its acting weird. im sure itll show up with the error before it loops.
yes, i can flash to any of those w/out any issues, even up to Nightly. of CM7.
While this doesn't fix your issue, could you try a night-
*checks teamdouche*
Never mind. They're gone.

Do you have your phone plugged into the outlet/PC while running Clockwork? Because if you do, well, unplug it and reflash.

Hey,
I recently installed cyanogenmod 7 from this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=941346
Everything seems to be fine except for there is no market and I cannot link my google account to my phone under cyanogenmod 7. I tried through the settings/accounts area and also through the e-mail application but no luck. I tried reinstalling after wiping the cache, deleting the data but even that didn't work. I also tried to update using "gapps-gb-20110503-signed" and it says that it is successful but it still isn't fixed after that. I then tried to restore my old firmware then flash "gapps-gb-20110503-signed" and then reinstalled cyanogenmod 7 but I don't see any difference.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards,
Bob
You install gaps the same way you flash the ROM. Put it on your SD Card, reboot into recovery and install the zip. When you reboot, you should be good to go.
I'm not 100% sure but I think you need to flash gapps straight after you flash CM7, while still in recovery.

Thanks for your prompt replies, I think I should also add that I installed it the same way I installed the mod.
hmm, thats weird that it didnt work then. What phone and recovery do you have? After you flash the ROM, you can try to fix permissions before you flash gapps. If you have clockwork recovery, that is located under advanced. If that doesn't work, I would do a full wipe, reflash the ROM and then flash gapps again. Also, you may have a bad download of gapps..that happens quite a bit. Just trying to throw the different scenarios out there.

Ok I will put everything I did. When I received the phone it was on android 2.0 imported from Italy. I then upgraded to 2.1 at which point this is all the information that I wrote down:
FCCID: IHDP56KC2 = GSM (Quad-Band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) & Dual-Band Euro 3G (900/2100))
A853
firmware: 2.1-update1
firmware configuration version: GAS_EMEA_USASHL00WNDIT_P031
baseband configuration version USASHLSMR2WNDITB1B806D.0R
kernel versioin 2.6.29-omap1 [email protected] #1
build number SHOLS_U2_02.38.0
bootloader 90.73
I then rooted the phone using universal androot. I then Installed RSD lite and used the SBF named "GOT_WINDITALY_2_2_1FULL.sbf" Then I installed open recovery and installed cyanogenmod/gapps. I tried redownloading the latest gapps from the cyanogen latest release wiki page (cannot link because my forum account is too new) but am stuck a bit. Could it be because I used a 2.2.1 sbf instead of the 2.0 that it came with?
So what would you recommend I do next? Should I download clockwork recovery now?
I managed to get it working! Here is how I did it. I re-downloaded cyanogen mod, I then re-downloaded gapps "gapps-gb-20110307-signed" and "gapps-gb-20110503-signed" tried both after clean wipe of dalvik cache data and cache partition and the "gapps-gb-20110307-signed" worked. I'm still not sure what the problem is but after trying again and again I can only assume the downloads must have been corrupt. Thanks for all of your help.
Alright, I want to start fresh. By starting fresh I mean, not just wiping the phone in recovery or using SuperWipe.zip
I want to completely wipe the phone to original manufactor settings and then go ahead and root the phone and then s-off that way. How would I go ahead and do this? 1.45ruu? I am a T-Mobile USA user so I don't know how that would work.
Also when using a ruu to wipe the phone, would that revert me back to my old radio/hboot/recovery?
Because I have the latest radio on here, I don't want that to mess anything up.
THANKS

Run the 1.29 RUU, there is no 1.45ruu for T-Mobile
This will revert EVERYTHING back to stock, radio, hboot, recovery.
When that's done, boot the phone up, login, and check updates and get the latest 1.45 OTA, apply it (this will update your stock firmware to 2.3.4 and update to latest tmobile radio (10.14).
Now you're stock with the latest official updates. If you want to root/rom/etc:
When that's done, run Revolutionary (if you're already s-off, running the ruu reverts it back to a normal hboot, so you still need to run revolutionary to be able to do more advance hboot commands).
When that's done, install recovery, then if all you want to root, flash the su root zip file in recovery, if you want to flash a rom, wipe data/cache, then flash the rom.
you're done.
Hey guys, since my post count is too low to post my problems with this OTA update in the development section of this rom, ill do it here. Sorry for that.
I think im having no problems with flashing the 2.1. ROM yet but i have my concerns if i did that right.
First problem with flashing it, is the question if im having a custom kernel. I flashed ViperOneS a several times but made a fullwipe before.
So am i having a custom kernel or not?
Next issue is that im only able to flash this ROM with CWM. TWRP 2.5 doesnt work and even 2.3.3.0, which should work, but does not for me...
Well with CWM i ll do it that way:
1. Doing Fullwipe in CWM (Factory reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik and System).
2. Flashing the ROM and choosing HTC Theme > Custom Kernel? > not sure sometimes "yes" sometimes "no".
3. Flash finished? > asks me if i want to reboot (into system) or save the logs. Since the instruction tells me to flash the boot.img first before rebooting...
4. ... im going into bootloader via adb which works
5. flash the boot.img
6. fastboot erase cache
7. reboot system
8. before doing the first setup i go into recovery and wipe cache.
I think 2.1 works but i want to be sure if i did everything right, especially with the custom kernel question and that i reboot into bootloader right after aroma says that the flash is finished.
Now i want to flash the 2.2.0 OTA because the update function through the ROM didnt work for me last time (it downloads the OTA but wasnt able to flash)
Im not sure how to flash the OTA right via recovery. Everytime i did that the ROM was kinda messed up, like when im turning the screen off and on Sense keeps loading and it takes some sec to unlock. And the venom tweaks app is totally laggy, even with the "trick" to go into app settings and wipe the cache and data which found on any other site (not xda...).
The problem is that they dont keep their instructions up-to-date (+ how to flash the OTA... right)
It looks to my like there are 100 different ways to flash 2.1.0 and 2.2.0 and only 1 is the right way which lets the ROM being amazing...
Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance!

All you have to do ist to flash the OTA with your custom recovery like any other flashable zip if this isn't done automatically. You can simply copy it to your device from your pc or flash it from your mobiles download folder, it doesn't matter which way.
The 'trick' is very well known here at xda, but simply nobody wants to repeat it a hundred times... Here at xda there is even included the fact, that after rebooting you should change your skin once to get things going besides wiping cache and data in venom tweaks and hub.
What EXACTLY doesn't work with TWRP 2.3.3.0?

about finding such "tricks": the problem is that those ROM release threads have tons of post (500+ sites of them) and it seems like 90% are from people who didnt even flash the ROM... i think you ll excuse me if i say i got tired of searching for my problems there^^
well can u tell me which skin i have to change? on venom tweaks or the htc skin on personalization? and app settings > venom tweaks > wipe cache and data right?

when i flash it with 2.3.3.0 (or 2.5... its the same), the flash process doesnt even take up to 2 seconds and it says its finished and that causes a bootloop but doesnt make me wonder.
dont you have problems with TWRP flashing sense roms either?
ah and another one: did i flash the version 2.1 right and what about the custom kernel question?
well thanks for ur time.
edit: well this time flashing with twrp 2.3.3.0 worked somehow, but i choosed flashing without wipe (made it in recovery) and not to delete apps with aroma installer (which i did before)... just strange.
new problem. dont know whats wrong with my phone but:
wanted to make a backup of my ViperOneS 2.1 with TWRP 2.3.3.0 after lets say 70% of progress it starts turning off my phone and restarts into system. i flashed 2.5.0.0 but its the same issue (edit#1: with CWM too...). strange is that TWRP turned out my phone before when i wiped something there.
i think somethings really messed up atm...
edit#2: had to run a ruu over the system again, flashed twrp and backups seem work again..strange ****
I'm having a problem when I flash the CM12 ROM.
While having CM11.x I go to Settings and navigate to "CM Updates" where I can see a list of Nightlys and stable CM releases. When I install the new CM update this way everything seems to go okay, however This may be normal, I get a message from CWM "Possible Root loss, fix?",.. I select yes and it boots up, runs through the whole "Android is upgrading" message and all. When the phone is finally ready for use I get spammed with millions of messages saying "Application has stopped" and they will pop up infinity in less then a second. I have to hold power and tell the phone to reboot into recovery so I can resotre from backup.
I also downloaded the ROM from CM website and flashed it using "ROM manager". I get the exact same issues sadly.
What could be the problem?
Is CWM not compatible with lollipop?
Do I need to run a factory reset and wipe my phone before flashing?
I've been fiddling with this all day now. -Sigh-
EDIT:
Should I flash the latest version of "gapps" ?
You're going to need to do some reading. Installing LP over KK thru a nightly isn't going to work. You'll need LP Gapps for starters and you'll need to go into recovery and do some wiping before you flash. There are some good LP roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development with full installation procedures. Also, most are using TWRP for recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705 You may also need to flash a different baseband but you'll find everything you need in the general development section. Also, next time you really should post your questions in the Q&A section. Anyway, do some reading and you'll be good to go! :good:
Thanks. I actually did get everything up and running
after going back a restore point, I
1: Flashed 10O Radio
2: Factory Reset
3: Flashed CM 12
4 Flashed gapps 5.0
I used latest version of CWM. I had TWRP years ago and I have never liked it compared to CWM
I'm curious about the Radio Modem though, Should I have 10O or Should I have 10D ?

First let me apologise, I see that you are in Q&A and I'm the one that doesn't know which forum he's in.
Next, well I've used both CWM and TWRP. Personally I prefer TWRP but as long as you're on the latest and greatest you should have no problems from what I've read. And if you do just flash over to the other and see if it fixes the problem. I've been using the 10D radio for quite some time now and it works for me.
As I go from rom to rom I always do a clean flash, wiping data, system, dalvik and cache. I rarely do a dirty flash but that's just me. As long as you can recover from the occasional boot loop you'll be good.
