Having problems going to CM12 - AT&T LG G2

I'm having a problem when I flash the CM12 ROM.
While having CM11.x I go to Settings and navigate to "CM Updates" where I can see a list of Nightlys and stable CM releases. When I install the new CM update this way everything seems to go okay, however This may be normal, I get a message from CWM "Possible Root loss, fix?",.. I select yes and it boots up, runs through the whole "Android is upgrading" message and all. When the phone is finally ready for use I get spammed with millions of messages saying "Application has stopped" and they will pop up infinity in less then a second. I have to hold power and tell the phone to reboot into recovery so I can resotre from backup.
I also downloaded the ROM from CM website and flashed it using "ROM manager". I get the exact same issues sadly.
What could be the problem?
Is CWM not compatible with lollipop?
Do I need to run a factory reset and wipe my phone before flashing?
I've been fiddling with this all day now. -Sigh-
EDIT:
Should I flash the latest version of "gapps" ?

You're going to need to do some reading. Installing LP over KK thru a nightly isn't going to work. You'll need LP Gapps for starters and you'll need to go into recovery and do some wiping before you flash. There are some good LP roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development with full installation procedures. Also, most are using TWRP for recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/twrp-twrp-2-8-0-0-kernel-f2fs-tools-t2898705 You may also need to flash a different baseband but you'll find everything you need in the general development section. Also, next time you really should post your questions in the Q&A section. Anyway, do some reading and you'll be good to go! :good:

Thanks. I actually did get everything up and running
after going back a restore point, I
1: Flashed 10O Radio
2: Factory Reset
3: Flashed CM 12
4 Flashed gapps 5.0
I used latest version of CWM. I had TWRP years ago and I have never liked it compared to CWM
I'm curious about the Radio Modem though, Should I have 10O or Should I have 10D ?

First let me apologise, I see that you are in Q&A and I'm the one that doesn't know which forum he's in.
Next, well I've used both CWM and TWRP. Personally I prefer TWRP but as long as you're on the latest and greatest you should have no problems from what I've read. And if you do just flash over to the other and see if it fixes the problem. I've been using the 10D radio for quite some time now and it works for me.
As I go from rom to rom I always do a clean flash, wiping data, system, dalvik and cache. I rarely do a dirty flash but that's just me. As long as you can recover from the occasional boot loop you'll be good.

CM10 Alpha 3 Problem?

Hello,
I was running the CM10 Alpha 2 for my GSII. Alpha 3 came out so I decided to update. I installed the newest CWM and the alpha 3 package, gapps and darkside wipe.
When installing I had no problems that I noticed. Everything said it worked fine. However, once rebooting the phone after darkside wipe finished, I couldn't boot up my phone. I can get past the Samsung screen, but I don't even make it to the CM animation boot screen.
I decided to pull the battery after waiting a while and go back into recovery. I did this and decided to restore my backup. My phone is stuck on "Restoring .android_secure" right now and will not work.
I can use Odin to flash back to ICS and how to came but I'm wondering why it didn't work? I know I did the procedure right, as I did it when flashing CM10 alpha 1, 1a and 2. I read about needing the latest CWM for it so I got that, too. A bit of a weird issue that I'd post in the CM10 thread if I had over ten posts.
Thanks in advance to those who can help!

I followed basically the same pattern and didn't have an issue, aside from the fact that I didn't Darkside wipe (if you are using the latest clockwork touch I don't think it's necessary anymore). I also flashed the instigator kernel (6.2.1) but that was after I rebooted without issue.
Sidenote, the instigator 6.2.1 seems to possibly have some overheating trouble, so I am running the Darkside Hercules kernel for the moment, and it seems to be working well.

Yeah, reading the thread it seems like a pretty rare problem. Somebody actually posted something similar yesterday that I missed and nobody really knew. I wasn't sure if I should Darkside wipe or not so I chose to anyways. I haven't tried flashing a new kernal but as I said I can't even get to the boot animation.

I would stay away from the darkside wipe, it has been reported through many threads that it can sometimes lead to problems when installing a rom. Your best bet is to just wipe data, format system, wipe dalvik cache, either format /cache or use Darksidewipe.cache not the darkside wipe that's wipes everything. Then install rom and gapps. Reboot phone and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes, (i usually let it sit 10). From there you can decide if you want to flash one of the two available kernels, results may very with the two.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to try it within the next few days. Right now I have SKY-ICS going fine but I'll definitely try that.
What do the different kernels do?

I used TWRP and flashed over CM9 with no problems. Did it as an upgrade. Wipe system> install CM10> install gapps> Wipe cache
Several people have reported that TWRP worked for them.

clean rom

Looking for some input on clean ROM on the TF300T,
This is my second time trying to install it and both times it was successful, however as soon as the boot image loads up it stays stuck loading... I did download the file again thinking it may have been corrupted.
It has been sitting there loading for 20 minutes now.
I am using cwm the latest version and I did not install a kernel still running stock
Any ideas on what could cause this?

CWM has issues on this unit. Many, many complaints. I use twrp. If you decide to use twrp be sure to choose JB and tf300t version.
Clean ROM is freaking amazing! Seriously just do it I love the mods I can make for it too! Can't wait till I get my volume long press seek mod done! Love this device!

I'm sorry it is hard to tell since you have chosen an older twrp to install. The current is five versions later and was updated as the kernels were updated to account for changes. The rom you are flashing is based on 10.4.4.25.

Use TWRP 2.4.1.0
You are using a very old version of TWRP that has bugs with AROMA installer. So that is most likely where your issues are.
What ROM are you ccoming from? What boot loader are you on.
Sounds to me like you need to upgrade your boot loader and possibly do a full wipe - make sure you are on latest TWRP first otherwise you could brick if you use an older recovery!

The only ROM i was able to flash that was fully functioning is cm10.1,
i have also flashed PA 2.9 but had some bugs i couldn't stand (screen rotation not working, extended desktop with no pie)
as for boot loader it says 1.00e by "US _Epad-10.4.2.20-20121228" A03
I just updated the TWRP as recommended on the other post (v2.4.1.0)
on every flash i wipe dalvik / Cache / Factory reset.
Before attempting to boot into Clean Rom i also followed the steps on screen saying to wipe cache and dalvik.
I m hoping PA releases a 3.0 for this device and/or i m able to get Clean rom running

If you are coming from cm10.1 you will definitely need to do a full wipe as it is non stock. It does say this in the first post. You only do a dalvik and cache wipe when upgrading from the same ROM or in CROMI's case from stock.
Do a data wipe in recovery, make sure you have a titanium backup or equivalent if you want to restore apps.
Success!!!
It worked perfectly fine after i install the back up i did before i flashed my 1st costume rom,
I rooted made a back up at stock/rooted... It just would not install from a full wipe,
it install fine once i flashed that specific backup and dirty flashed then wiped dalvik and cache before booting.

Help Please: Infuse steps to custom ROM

First i want to apologize if this has been answered, but i read so many things and maybe just confused myself. My infuse is on stock GB 2.3.6 (not rooted or any data to worry about), my goal is a stable custom ROM like CM10,slim Bean or any stable ROM you can recommend. Is there a step by step sort of a process i can follow to make this simple for a newbie? I am familiar with Heimdall and Odin but not sure where to start.
Thanks and i appreciate any help
First you need to be rooted and then get Clockworkmod cwm flashed! I suggest Enthropy cm9 , scott.hart.bti unofficial CM 10.1+ ROMs or Beanstalk( These are the most stable).
Remember different Gapps (Google apps) for different ROMs. If you already have CWM, then flash Enthropy's cm9 rom first. Then Scott's jellybeans and kitkat Hit thanks button! This is for att and unlocked infuse 4g.For Rogers, it's still the same except the mentioned back to stock tool.
Phase 1:
---------
To obtain CWM head over too Jscotts odin url.
1. download the file which includes root access.
"Stock UCLB3 with root
UCLB3_Unbrick_root_1.1.zip"
2. you will also need Samsung Kies, which will install
the usb driver for your Samsung galaxy. The link is on
the website.
3. Place your phone into Download mode
To do this, have your usb cable for your phone plugged
into the computer but disconnected from your phone.
shut off your phone. When the power is off press Volume
up and Volume down simultaneously, after the buttons
are pressed plug in the usb cable at the same time,
which should be connected to the computer.
This will place the phone in Download mode.
4. open the included Odin.exe, when you see the yellow
bar under ID:COM then everything is good.
Follow the rest of the instructions on jscotts website.
Finally when this procces is done, reboot into android.
Phase 2:
---------
1) Download SGS kernel flasher
2) Click on the link on jscotts website to download a
stock kernel which contains CWM. use "2013.04.30-
CWM-Synthesis-1.2Ghz.zip in the following link:

is this the kitkat i need to flash next? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091900

something is wrong, twice after flashing CM9, i was not able to boot in to the rom, instead it boots to recovery no matter what i did..
and the only way i could get back was to reflash back to stock with ODIN and both times it messed up after i tried to use rom manager to backup the CM9 rom. any ideas?
thanks
NOTE:MAKE SURE U'RE FLASHING EACH ROM WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE GAPPS or you'll get errors!!!If you have a backup of apps and contacts and pics, don't make any further ones.Once u start flashing continue on flashing
If you're back to stock with jscott's back to stock with root tool, before flashing any ROM,u need to flash a CWM recovery first like in the above guide. Then wipe, flash cm9,stuck at reboot, reboot to recovery, format system, cache, data, flash cm9,flash cm9 gapps, wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, back, back, reboot SYSTEM NOT reboot recovery. Now phone is on,just complete the default menus in cm9.Don't adjust any further settings!
Make sure battery life is beyond 40% every time or u're dead!
Reboot to recovery.Wipe cache/factory reset.Flash unofficial cm10.2 (if incompatible/error appears, ignore and flash again) ,reboot system,if stuck at reboot, reboot to recovery again format data and cache, flash cm10.2 (OR BEANSTALK 4.3 ROM), flash CM10.2 GAPPS wipe cache partition and wipe Dalvik, back, reboot SYSTEM. Complete default procedures at start.
Make sure battery life is beyond 40% every time or u're dead!
Reboot to recovery.Wipe cache/factory reset.Flash unofficial CM11 v01/04/14, if stuck at reboot system,reboot to recovery again,format data,cache,flash cm11 again and flash cm11 GAPPS , wipe cache partition,wipe Dalvik cache,reboot SYSTEM.
This should be all the needed detailed steps
Remember to hit thanks

Actually, I just flashed KitKat directly from Gingerbread.
1. Flash the ROM from GB recovery
2. It will boot into the ROM, pull the battery and boot into CWM again. Wipe data, cache, etc. And flash the ROM again, but this time flash gapps as well. Wipe again after flashing, then reboot. It worked for me.

Is this method still working for you? I mean any weird issues yet?
I'm not the type that will change thing often so i stayed with 2.3.6 after seeing what i had to go through everytime something went wrong.can the same be done with CM11 maybe?
i might just give it a try
Thanks
Hello, I hope it's okay for me to chime in. I did basically all the steps you mentioned. Using ODIN and pit file to go back to stock -> Flash kernel with CWM -> Install CM9 -> CM10.2 -> CM11.
My problem is the same, I can not boot into any single CM rom I installed even though the installation process completed successfully, even after installing the rom twice. I will keep retrying to ODIN back to stock and get into CM9.

Yeah. Actually, I did it yesterday. It worked fine for me. The last wipe isn't ABSOLUTELY required, but I do it every time (the ROM tends to be a bit buggy then). But yeah, it works. Make a backup of apps and whatnot, wipe data, cache (you don't have to wipe dalvik cache), install the ROM, reboot (if it doesn't automatically), install ROM, GApps, wipe again and reboot. And your done! Lemme know if it doesn't work.
I followed this instruction to get into CM rom. Apparently, after flashing the rom, I have to not do anything and immediately reboot and let it stuck at the kernel screen. My mistake was wiping or flashing before rebooting.

It definitely is slower than my N4, but I can't wait to load some FLAC to it and enjoy the Wolfson DAC. I was going to repurchase the Samsung Captivate again, but I saw this model with larger screen and 0.2ghz faster so I went with it.

I strongly recommend to first go to CM9 to update the CWM. These are the instructions of the ROM developer who knows what he is talking. It takes less than 5 minutes to flash cm9 from stock GB with red CWM.After cm9, CWM will be blue, then flash again followed by cm9 gapps, wipe partition, reboot system(follow previous guide). Then flash CM11 with cm11 gapps(choose Paranoid Android mini modular gapps).
In all will take less than 10 minutes to flash cm9 and cm11. After flashing each ROM, do only default procedures and nothing else and flash again
Flash CM9 first!!!
The partition alert is normal. Just install ROM again with specific gapps

U are on cm11. If you are not getting any errors, enjoy it. If any future problems,a reboot of phone is sufficient. Any big errors or heavy battery draining, then just flash cm11 ROM and gapps again followed by wipe cache partition and wipe Dalvik cache.
For backups, if you want to have game and apps data stored for easy restore, use titanium backup pro and if u can't afford it, I regret to say, but side download it

There are alternatives like Helium and Super Backup. I don't really use Titanium Backup myself.

I tried to install kitkat 4.4.215 from GB CWM and i got a warning saying that partitions are incompatible and that all data will be wiped etc, should i proceed? all data has been backed up but is the partition warning something to worry about?
Thanks

No. That is normal. When you try to flash the ROM again, it will reboot automatically. It will bring you back to an updated blue CWM. Then just flash the ROM and GApps and wipe. Then reboot. Hope that helps!

[Q] - No Calls or SMS OxygenOS or CM12

OK I am having a problem, when i rooted and followed the direction to install both OxygenOS or CM12 nightly I am unable to receive any SMS or phone calls except after a reboot. Once i reboot any saved messages come through and then once the phone sleeps it stops. I have rolled back to CM11S for the time being. Any steps or tricks to follow to get this issue resolved.
"followed the direction to install both OxygenOS or CM12 nightly" does it mean you are using Multiboot?

No just flashing either one I have this result. Not sure if I am doing something wrong in the process.
Steps:
Wipe all but internal
Flash Rom (then gapps if CM12)
Flash SU
Reboot

Well all i could suggest it, also please flash the CM12 firmware once. In theory oxygenOS and CM12 firmwares are compatible. So flash like this:
Install CM12 fimrware zip
Wipe System, Data, Cache, Dalvik etc without Internal memory
Flash Rom Zip
Flash Gapps
Flash SuperSu
and then let it boot and settle down. Before restorign apps or data, check for any issues again
seems to be sitting stable at the moment, will keep testing. but thanks for the input.

Great! Let me know if the bug persists. And be careful with firmwares. For CM12 roms, just flash the firmware once and you're good to go for all of then.

spoke too soon, after letting the phone sit ideal for a few hours and testing incoming calls\sms nothing came through. restored a backup of CM11S, for the week to have a working device. will keep trying to get to a root cause later in the week. will also open a help ticket with OnePlus to see if there is something I am missing as well since this happens with OxygenOS as well.

Cyanogen Mod 6.0 for OPPO R7 PLUS

I apologize if this is posted, but we now have an official build of Marshmallow for our Oppo r7 Plus (F) Variant. link attachedhttp://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=r7plus
Excellent! I am going to test it right now and will report!!!!
Update: I was on ColorOS, flashed cm13 recovery and done factory reset, formatting cache is taking around 8 minutes, is that normal?
Flashing ARM64 opengapps for 6.0 end up with error: E:Installation error in /sideload/package.zip (Status 255) - seems like recovery problem as many people report this issue. I only dont know if TWRP will work with CM13 rom
Personally I'm using a 12.1 recovery at the moment. The 13.0 recovery is still WIP AFAIK.

Ok, will try cm12.1 recovery, what about gapps? Which one to use? Btw I have done factory reset again, flashed cm13 rom only, phone rebooted and loading apps (total of 87 I think), then done reboot, then only showing blue android logo for very long time, like 10 minutes followed with another "starting apps" screen with 21 left or so, now another reboot with blue android logo. Is this normal for MM roms? Still not finished.
EDIT: after another 5 minutes same screen appears with saying starting android... 21 apps left, blue android logo when done - seems to be as bootloop as it is going nowhere from here.
CM13 rom flashed fine over TWRP, flashing gaaps now seems to be alright as well (open_gapps-arm64-6.0-mini-20151218).
Very exited, good job
so far I am getting the boot-loop also. will wait to here what Nexus5-32GB will post (if any success with the cyanogen recovery) before reverting back
Sadly "Androis is starting... Starting apps" is last message I can see, the soft reboot then followed wit this bootloop. Same when flashed with and without gapps from TWRP, cm12.1 and cm13 recoveries.
When doing factory reset in CM12.1 recovery I get this:
-- Wiping data...
Formating /data...
E:Failed to start /data/data/org.cyanogenmod.audiofx
Formating /cache...
Guy's I got it to boot up and install so far everything seems to work okay (Minus minor distortion when automatically switching to landscape, portrait and at start up) . I am going to post a picture if I can. I believe the issues arise when we try updating to Marshmallow from lollipop and we have made major modifications. (for example I had lolli viper and a host of other customization's). I had to do a factory reset wipe and format. I then installed a backup that was untouched bone dry cyanogen mod (no g apps yet). let that boot-up and rebooted into recovery. I then downloading the nightly form (today) the 18th from the website with the marshmallow G-apps. Pushed to my sd card, wiped cache and installed the nightly and installed the correct marshmallow G-apps (ARM 64 6.0) right away. After this,I rebooted phone (it will take a while; almost as long as it did when the first nightly for lollipop came out and we flashed from color OS). It's up and running on my phone. I also still have and used the twrp recovery.

going to give this a go, but I was doing factory reset and format as well, is that mean the factory reset doesnt work as it should? Flashing cm 12 rom first to be able to boot to cm13 rom later is very strange way when you think about it

indeed i agree 100%. I really think it boils down to if we have any customization. I had the same error (in regards to the audio FX) You should try installing a fresh clean cyanogen nightly without g-apps or any mods. Let it boot-up and try the steps i mentioned. do you have an audio customization or any that might have changed something (it shouldn't matter but I'm considering any and everything)? If this is the case the recovery might need tweaking as that would mean somehow or someway it doesn't allow us to properly wipe and format (another consideration). I really hope you and everybody else can also update. I'm trying to upload screenshots of my phone

I was on ColorOS while ago, went to TWRP and done manual wipe of Dalvik, System, Data and Cache. Installed latest cm12.1 rom without any gapps and let it boot up to home screen. Went back to TWRP and done same wipe as before. Installed cm13 without any gapps and this time I got little further than ussualy, I could see message "finishing boot" but again end up in bootloop as before. So no luck in my case...
About the error in TWRP: yes I was using viper4android before and it seems the TWRP recovery doesnt wipe the device right way - well actually not even CM recoveries can I think.

The events you listed I went through the same exact sequence. Keep trying it took for me; after a painstaking install experience of course. Also you're right Cyanogen recovery doesn't allow full wipe and install.

As I never give up :victory: I am flashing stock rom now - via stock recovery. Will try flash twrp and install cm13 straight after full wipe of ColorOS then. There is basiclly nothing more I can do really...
EDIT: same bootloop after "finishing boot" screen. Hope developers will be happy from this research

am not gonna mess with restarts and so on. What I just did was, I installed the cm12.1 and tried to run system update which downloaded the cm13 rom and flashed it in twrp ending with same bootloop. I dont really know how devs could make this working on their phones at all.

Well, I took my 12.1 installation without any wipe, went to CM recovery from 12.1, installed my (self compiled at that time) build + opengapps (it's important to install those before booting M for the first time), booted, done. I don't have any /system mods though.
I guess I'll try the nightly and see what happens there. Did anybody of you get a logcat of the failed boot attempts?

Just follow this quide with flashing twrp, only instead of twrp flash the stock recovery image. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63189590&postcount=5 Sorry, there is only boot command, you should type "fastboot flash recovery stock.recovery.img" - when "stock.recovery.img" is a filename of your stock recovery downloaded on your computer.
No need for wipe when installing recovery. I recon to install stock recovery and then install stock ColorOS from it, let it boot, install twrp later and do what you want then.
Looks like it's broken for everyone. I tried multiple recoverys, full wipes including /system and no joy. Guess we'll just have to wait!
