expansys have the diamond in stock for around £400 ish, TBH HTC is not that pad, the Pro is essentially the long awaited successor to the Universal, there has been nothing pocetable with a

The Universal isn't the most pocketable of devices... And there have been offerings from other companies (Toshiba G9XX anyone?), but the Raphael is probably the best yet!
lol i guess i must have big pockets, the uni was an excellent device in its time, and whilst there have been offerings from other manufacturers, I was talking about HTC
the only issue with either of these phones with me is that they are both only triband... i need quad..if it wasnt for that I would jump all over either one really.

G900, i have one and its higher res than the universal and roughly the same size as the TyTN
800x480. However, res aint everything. I am now downgrading on screen real-estate to an Omni because, whats the point in having a tv that will do 1080p but is only 32inch? There ain't none. I now question 640x480. It's all very well having sharpness but, on 2./3.2inch screens, that are essentialy phones, does it make any practical diference? I'm sure there are people who watch movies on there phones but no one can honestly say they are any good at this - yea, yeah, it will play and you can watch it but, come on, its rubbish quality compared to pmp's.
I spoke to orange cs today regarding the Diamond they said if HTC dont change their mind
it shoud be out by the middle of this month @ the latest.....

The Raphael also has 64MB extra RAM, and a MicroSD slot, but loses the 4GB internal memory...

I have a few questions that I'm sure one of you all have the answer to. I am in dire need of a new phone, currently using a pos Treo 750. I am stuck between the Xperia and the Touch Pro as most are. Will the Touch Pro work on the T-mobile USA network? Do I have to wait for a US release of the phone or can I purchase one overseas to use thats unlocked? Sorry for all the question but I'm kinda new to all this.
Hi guys, I'm pondering weither to plunk down $900 for the Touch Pro or just wait and upgrade from my iPhone to the ATT iteration of the device. Will there be any differences of specs between the two beside the US 3g band and missing front camera? Fuze is a lame name too...

Want it locked or unlocked?
Want the keyboard of the touch pro or the fuze?
Want to pay $299/$399 (I didn't get specific price but was told it's one of these two) /w 2yr or $900 w/o plan?
I would agree but you know that HTC will put out a ROM that will enable all the bands as soon as the FUZE is released on at&t. Or if someone figures it out before then which I think will happen anyway.I have a feeling that they are locking it down in the US as per at&t so they can sell the FUZE instead of the unlocked version in the states. Lets face it. if you had a kaiser and tilt in front of you, which one would you take. And I know... The price difference is gonna be HUGE so we will see...

For me it an easy choice:
1. Dosen't matter, If locked we'll unlock it
2. I rather have the AT&T keyboard. Access to many of those little punctuations used when typing and the numbers clustered togeather so it easier to input numbers quickly.
3. $299/$399 with 2 years sounds much better than 3x that amount.

Just heard.
It's not going to be called the Fuze but the Touch Pro and the top row will be numbers not symbols.

I agree with this logic. i can't see myself paying 900 bones for the features that will be brought forth here by the XDA Goonies lol. other than the front facing camera which is the sht, i don't have any concrete reason not to wait for AT&T's version. Yes the standard ROM will be grotesquely bloated with AT&T's usual BS but a custom ROM can easily be flashed. So me personally I'll wait for AT&T. but so help me God if they delay this thing anymore.....

Don't know. That depends on where you're located. Like in cali, they do. Because 80% of at&t's marketshare is here. So yeah, here they probably would. I don't know about small states and such. But i bet they definitely will in large states. Oh btw, my 50% is off of retail pricing. The black friday deal will probably have contract deals and not retail deals.

wow youre 16? i wish i knew about smart devices when i was that young..im 23 and got into smart devices only about a year and a half ago..started with an mpx220 and it froze all the time and returned it for a cingular 2125 then realized i should have got a touch device (thought they were huge like dell x51v's) and got a 8525 then a tilt...so how did you come to know this contact who can get you 50% off retail?
but ya i live in cali and i dont mind renewing for 2 more years..i personally love att and ill tack on 2 more years to get this device but i plan on waiting JUST to see how it actually is once its available..see if its really worth it to upgrade..

thanks for quicky reply. I have been monitoring fuze thread, and the consensus seems to be nov 4th. If i can get it tuesday from ATT fine, but im tired of waiting, and my e71 is getting boring. Any word on US 3G unlocked touch pro? Would prefer that over branded model due to exclusivity reasons.
The US 3G touch pro will release after the fuze does. AT&T has first dibs on releasing a GSM version of the touch pro. Sprint had dibs on releasing it first in the USA. I would really suggest you wait. I mean on black friday, last year it was 50% off /w new contract or renewal. That is kick ass. $150 for the fuze on black friday. I would definately wait for that.

waiting 22 days to save 150 is kind of worth it, but not really. Especially when your like me and must have your new toy as soon as its available.
And FWIW, negrielectronics, which is known to be a reliable site for unlocked phones, has the fuze listed for pre-release on 11/3/2008. But who knows, maybe they are going by the same info as we are? heres to hoping for the best.

I'm like that too, but personally. Since I can upgrade on Nov 16. I can wait. I mean the $150 I save, I can spend on a case, cradle, speakers, etc.

Ok, so I have a decision to make, and only till Wednesday to make it ...
Currently, I have the Palm Treo Pro. It's a GOOD phone, I LOVE the keyboard and I love how small/light it is. I DO NOT like the proprietary USB of the "end" key as its uber sensitive. Also, most of my programs don't work on the screen (OliveTree Bible, Mud Inc. Pocket Cribbage, and Handmark Monopoly V1) ... so my other options are
HTC Diamond - I get $ back, but, I lose microSD Card or HTC Pro, I pay around $100 more, but I get the microSD Card slot and sliding keyboard.
WiFi is important, and I should point out, I am on the TELUS Network.

However, to answer your question, i'd definitely go with the TP over the Diamond.

I can't wait 14-18 months for the TP2 (which is about how long Telus will take to get it *L* as they have ONLY had the Treo Pro for about a month!) ... I think I'll go on Wednesday and get the Touch Pro.
Then why don't U buy it unlocked from another country next month
Because Telus is CDMA but soon (2010) to be UMTS/HSPA

Ok some usefull info for you:
Diamond - has serious heat issues and its very well know to fry its own screen. HTC are constantly fighting people and refusing to repair faulty units. I owned one and then returned it as it could also not play music without jumping/skipping. Both these issues can be easily found by going to the Diamond section of these forums.
TouchPro - (not the TP2 as everyone else seems to have got confused over) Never owned one so comments are limited to what can be read on this forum but, I miss having a keyboard and am now ordering an Asus on Monday that has a keyboard. Typing an email on the Diamond was a pain in the a*&e and its only marginaly easier on the bigger screen of my Omnia.
Palm thingy - never owned one, never used one. Can't comment.
If I HAD to chose between these then in all honesty, i'd probably keep the Palm! Why? HTC build quality sucks donkey balls. Its a well known and easily googled reputation. Its a shame really as they spec out the phones very well and seem to have every intention of making excellent devices, just somewhere the penny pinchers seem to take control and quality drops.

OK so ... I was downtown yesterday, getting my Security Guard License and walked through Toronto Eaton Centre ... and I picked up the Touch Pro.
So far, I'm happy. I'm still testing things out and seeing what is good etc but ALL my games work, all my programs work AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED to, and I'm happy ...

it's just that I am due for an upgrade next month and I'm getting the HD2,
which will tie me up for another 18 months. I have read speculation of a November release, and if this is true I may as well hold out till then.

I am with you on this one. I also would like to know exactly when it will be released. I am in the US and have SPRINT. So, I know that will mean an even longer wait for me and everyone else who has either SPRINT or VERIZON who are both CDMA. I also would like to know if HTC will release one with a keyboard.

Dialaphone are doing the HD2 on vodafone £40 a month 300 mins ult txt and ult net on a 12 month contract. If minutes aren't an issue go for that wish I had seen it before I signed up for my 24 month lol
