Connection manager problem - General Questions and Answers

In the connection manager of my Omnia i have "My Work Network" and there i have 2 connections, but i know i setted more connections (Nodata shows me all of them) that are not showed there.
How can i delete all of them? I tried to search in the phone but i couldn't find any, can someone please tell me where and how to search?

Can not delete GPRS/3G connections

Because I have to travel abroad and do not want to user roaming for data I installed the Modaco-nodata program. When I run it, it finds 2 connections for GPRS/G3 installed. When checking in the settings-tab for connections, I had only one. Then I deleted the connection from the settings-tab.
According the connection-setting in the WM6 settings-menu, I have no installed connections. Also when I want to check email, there is an error-message that I cannot get my mail because there is no connection available.
So far, so good.... but....
There are still 2 connections available, because the HTC-Home weather can still connect to GPRS/G3 and also QuickGPS will also make a connection via GPRS/G3. I see the popup that a connection is made with the connection-names programmed before, but they are not in the settings anymore. Also Modaco-nodata sees them, and Spb GPRS monitor too.
It seems that some programs use a different setting to make a connection than others.
Is there a registry-setting where the connections are stored and how can I delete the connections there ???
settings->connections->connections-Advanced-select network
and choose both non isp in the dropdownboxs and it cant use phone network....

OK, thanks for that. That solved one problem, there were also GPRS-WAP and GPRS-MMS settings there ! I block both now too and no unwanted connections anymore after using modaco-nodata.
But I have still have 2 "old" connections which I can see in some programs, but they do not show up in the connections mentioned above. However if I try to make a new connection with the same name, there is an error message saying that there is a connection with the same name already.... Not a very big problem because I know that I can not use them, but I like to remove both. Are those stored in registry somewhere ?

Hi guys,
I've been looking around quite some time because I had the same problem.
Here is the registry key where you can find the connection list:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A37-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections
After removing the "old" connections that were appearing in some programs, it's now fine.

To completely remove the connections you also have to delete these connections under
HKCU\Comm\RasBook
Just delete the complete key named like the connection you want to delete.
Then softreset and their gone.

Both "dve1313" and "wilriker" thanks !
That worked.
However HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A37-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections was empty here, but I had another entry named:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections which contains my connections and removed the obsolete ones there worked fine.
my phone was working perfectly on the internet using 3g, o had configured all the settings (vodafone, access point pp.vodafone.co.uk and user and password WAP, until i tried to set up mms, i installed a few cabs, deleted them now, put the connections back to EXACTLY how they were, tried the networks auto configure again and just says somethign like disconnected or lots of "g.00"''" all in some random order, sometimes it says if changing settings fails to fix reset according to manufacturers instructions, although i do not want to do a hard reset as i will lose too much!! anyone got anyyy ideas what i have done wrong?
and
please can someone tell me how to get to
"HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A37-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections was empty here, but I had another entry named:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections"
as i have a couple ofblank connections, ideally i would like to reset just the connection side of the device leaving the rest...but can't!!
thanks in advance!!

Stop WinMobile establishing data-connections without asking

Hey mates!
First of all I wanna wish you a hapy new year
Ok, now to my question.
I've got a HTC Touch HD a week ago.
I recognized that it establishes a data-connection without asking me.
When i'm using Wifi - no problem.
But as I don't have a data-flat that gets quite expensive, if I can't use Wifi (most of the time no wifi available).
Is it possible to set up Winmobile so that it asks me BEFORE establishing an data connection?
I didn't find any solutions, google didn't help me, too.
Of yourse I could just change the adresses in the settings.
e.g- "internet.t-mobile.de" to "internet.t-mobile.deXXX" ---> no connection possible.
But i want to receive and send MMS at any time, so that would not be possible any more.
I hope you can help me, thx.
greetz
try nodata
this should do what you need....i think
http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility-nodata/
thx, but not really what i need.
With this programm i still have to close connections by hand.
I just want WinMobile to ask me BEFORE it establishes a connection.
For example: When I open an programm which tries to download something, a popup should appear
--->
Establish data-connection?
[ ]Yes
[ ] NO
I hope u understand my problem
greetz
No one with the same problem here and a solutuon?

I have the same problem with my Touch 3G (Jade). Turning the Data Connection off in the Main Touchflow settings tab helps but doesn't stop it completely. The worst thing is that doesn't seem to download anything but just connecting is enough to start costing.
I spoke to HTC today and they gave me a solution to this problem. Go to Settings, Connections, Connections, Advanced and then Select Networks. There you should find a drop down tab with something like ******GPRS, where ****** is your network. Now now choose New and create a new connection name like "No GPRS" for example. Click OK.
You now have a title but no settings so when you select this one, the phone can't connect to the internet. It might attempt to connect but it won't go through. Don't worry about MMS as this uses a different set of settings and works perfectly (for me).
Hope this helps, Woolly.
Find what apps are creating the connection so you can prevent it. Spb Monitor should be able to show you that.
Using Modaco NoData (link given above) will just do the same saving your time (you don't have to create a fake connection set).
What schlitzohr1812 wants is a way to make WM ask for permission to connect. I haven't heard of anything like this, but if you assign a shortcut to NoData it's almost as easy as what you are looking for. By the way, despite the name, NoData will prevent WM from opening connections, not only to exchange data over them.
Just remember that if you disable the connection while it is already open, you still have to close it manually. Also beware that if in your Comm Manager you have an enabled "Data connection" button (on some phones it's always disabled when the connection is closed, on others it can be used to open it), that button WILL open a connection even if they are disabled.
Thx for helping guys, but "Black Antitoon" is right.
That's not exactly what I was searching for but better than nothing.
I'm used to my old nokia phone (N70) which asked me before.
Incomprehensible why Windows Mobile does not have such an option...
greetz Timo
anybody wrote an app for this data permission yet please?

Problem with GPRS in India

I hail from Karnataka, India and I own an HTC P3350 since 8 months. There is a problem with GPRS for HTC in India (some compatibility issue between HTC and network providers in India, I heard.) The GPRS never works but yet i get charged for the kb i download and it even shows up on the SPB GPRS Monitor. That's really ridiculous.
Does anyone else face the same problem? Or is it just a problem with my handset? If its a common prob, does anyone have any solution to it??
Would appreciate any inputs..
Thanks in advance..

You "Heard" wrong.
it would be best if you would describe your problem in detail.
My exact simple problem is that the GPRS just wont connect. When i start something like internet explorer, it attempts to connect and ends up with the error message 'Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your connection settings, tap Settings.' I tapped Settings and tapped everything i could! But the result is the same.IT NEVER CONNECTS!
My network is Vodafone. I tried searching xda forums and came up with these threads -

Everyone seems to be having the same problem but the solutions offered are only for Airtel Live. I have Vodafone. Can you suggest some settings/reg changes/ANYTHING to make GPRS work on my cell phone. I tried changing the portal name, etc which was mentioned in above linked threads. But none were for any use.
Would appreciate any insight...

Sorry, But you have failed to mention Which WM version you are on.
i'll Assume you are on 6.0 and above and try to help you.
You will have to follow the steps in the Airtel Live Thread to Configure your settings.
(Proxy Setting)
IMPORTANT- After you configure your proxy settings you will NOT be able to use Internet through WIFI untill you delete the Proxy Server.
In Settings > Connection > Advanced Setting you will see an option similar to "When an application request to connect to internet, use this" change it to the second option, after this you might have to reconfigure your "Vodafone GPRS" Settings. (Sorry for being so vague, but i dont use my WinMo phone anymore, however these are the Settings i needed to change to Use GPRS on it.
Even after doing this, not all applications will work.
Poke around, and if you are still getting stuck somewhere, i'll charge my phone and give you the exact procedure.
thanks so much.. i'll try it out n get back.. btw ya my version is 6.0..

PIE won't connect

For a while now my Portable Internet Explorer mobile or QuickGPS won't connect. I thought only the QuickGPS was the problem but then someone on the forum indicated that I check out iexplore.exe and lo and behold it also wasn't connecting. Not with wifi, gprs or even activesync. I'm loath to try a hard reset but I really want them to work (especially the quickgps).
Am using an original Polaris windows 6.1 rom.
Radio 1.58.26.20
The actual error says, "The address is not valid. Check the address and try again."
This occurs whether I'm connected with Activesync, wifi or EDGE/3G/GPRS. As a result, my QuickGPS won't connect either. HELP!
Fiddling around in AdvancedConfig has brought my Internet Explorer back into working status but am not getting the same luck with QuickGPS updates.
Am still getting "Connection failed. Please try again." So am trying to find a good guide on what to do to fix it but the forum isn't very forthcoming.
(BTW am replying over and over so that my efforts can be a guiding light for others, and hopefully I'll get a reply that will help me finish this.)
Did you sync it to a PC with proxies? the phone will automatticly use them, if you did, try disabling them
How I go about that? Cuz I sync it to my PC alot but am not sure if I sue proxies.
"Start, Control Panel, Internet Options, Lan Settings" if the boxes are filled in, you use Proxies
Nope. And let me reiterate, I've got Portable Internet Explorer working again but QuickGPS still isn't.

can someone help me ?
according to your screenshots, you don't have any data connection available. Network location needs data connection to determine your location, as far as I know... try to check if you are able to access internet on your phone (check you APNs).
