I tried everything from this thread but it doesn't work with me. I have a t-mobile version (see screenshot.
I formatted my sd-card, put RC7 on it. Restart with the photo-button pressed and than I get the error "not allow".
I saw another thread with a Singapore version of the G1 with the same problem but no solution in that thread.
I hope someone can give me a step-by-step manual how to solve this.
This should work. If not you can try this way.
He kerel,
Succes.
JP
You do need to make a goldcard first. But you don't need a windows mobile device. To make a goldcard you just need your SD's CID. You can get it like this:
- Download a terminal from the market.
- Enter: cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
- You will get a hexadecimal string, reverse it.
(So 1c5356555344202010046c0a9b008c34 would become 348c009b0a6c0410202044535556531c)
- Change the first two digits of the reversed string into 00
(String would become: 008c009b0a6c0410202044535556531c)
- Enter it here and get your goldcard mailed to you:
http://revskills.de/pages/goldcard.html
- In a unix system, copy the goldcard to your SD card, but NOT to a partition, using dd.
With an internal cardreader it would be something like this:
dd if=goldcard.img of=/dev/mmcblk0
With an external cardreader more like this:
dd if=goldcard.img of=/dev/sdb
Voilla, your SD card is now a goldcard. Proceed with updating.
Thanx for the instructions. after 2 days of reading and trying it worked. I made two "mistakes":
- the 8 GB card didn't work and I reversed the wrong CID-code.
Anyway thanx, what a great forum this is!

Alvast bedankt,

Still problems..
Cheers guys! Great forum!
I have exactly the same build/kernel/baseb. of the first post and still having troubles to root my g1.
I read all your instructions and I did the goldcard (using a registered QMAT)
wrote it with a WM device to SD
I then extracted RC7 DREAMIMG-RC7.zip and copied DREAIMG.NBH to SD root - rebooted with camera+power.
Nothing happens.. still getting the damn stripe-coloured Serial0 screen of the first post
What should I do now? Can somebody be so nice to give me an hint?
Thank you!

When i follow all of the sticked guides, and the ones in the announcements i keep ending up with the same screen..
I have tried this with 2 different sd cards, both 2gb scandisk ones. Followed the guides..
Here is what i have tried so far, even though its listed in the guides..
Formated sd card both trying through the usb cable on the phone, and on an sd card reader on xp. to FAT 32, with allocation of 4096 (might have mispelled the number), done this using both the built in format function gui, and the cmd way using /fs and /a parameters.
I've tried both the RC7 and the RC29 versions of the DREAIMG.nbh file, even tried renameing to dreaimg.nbh, dreaimg.NBH and DREAIMG.NBH.
When i hit cam key + power, i get the first screen with a RGB and white row, and then it loads the bootloader aka grey screen. And when it gets past the second stage of loading it, i get a red number 00028002 followed by a blue text, Not allow.
Now it throws me back to the RGBW screen, with the Serial0 text to me..
The text otherwise available to me on the rgbw screen is as follows.
DREA110 PVT 32B
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RAID0-1.22.14.11
sep 2 2008.
When i check the about on the phone to get the firmware stats etc i get the following.
Firmware version
1.1
Baseband version
62.33.20.08U_1.22.14.11
Kernl version
2.6.25-01845-g85d4f0d
[email protected] #27
Build number
kila_eu-user 1.1 TMI-RC9 128600
ota-rel-keys,release-keys
I hope you guys have a solution for me to hack this nice little gadget, so that i can install my apps on the sd card, and not use space on the phone it self!! (and i gotta admit, being able to use a linux kernl, ex the ubuntu kernl, would sound beautiful to my geeky eyes!)
after the format of the SD-card you did not mention the qmat-procedure with a WM-device plugged in and using activesync.
i got that same error when i did not create a goldcard-image via qmat.
After using the qmat-steps it worked like a charm.
Greets,
JP
Cuz i couldnt find a way to get hold of a free Qmat program, i read around that in order to do the steps, one would need to buy the full version. In order to make the goldsomething..
Is there a link to the guide, that obviously made you successfull ?
Just got hold of an older version now However, when i hit save to wince sd, it goes throug with it and gives an ok, but i dont see any files on the sd card... logic ?
You don´t see the file goldcard.img on the card afterwards, but try it, it should work then!
Nvm It worked lol! Had to use Case Sensitive.. Yuck..

You need to be 100% sure that the name of the file is exactly as it states, capital filename, small extension!
If u use a windows platform use cmd and verify by doing a dir or something
I guess the terminal would suffice for linux based platforms, as for mac i dont know!
how do I get out of the bootloader screen. I am on the same one as him but mine says DREA100. I have no options just stuck on the RGBW screen

I have that program aswell, and I have a retail unit..
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
There are plenty of dev units w/ pre-rooted firmware and s-off floating around, many folks with them won't know how to dump the system from it, this isn't a standard day-to-day task for a lot of devs or even non-devs with these units.
If someone provides instructions on this they'd have a decent shot at getting a dump and be able to find someone who may be willing to help poke 'n prod at things to try and help defeat the bootloader w/ an s-off device.
You can Dump the system using the below guide:
1) Install Android SDK or simply adb
2) Download busybox for Android & copy it to the folder where ADB is located
3) Launch Windows console (cmd) and go to the directory where busybox is with the "cd path/to/the/file" command.
4) "adb devices" <- Is your device detected ? If not, install HTC Sync // Of course, before you have to plug your device in... (Sync mode I guess)
5) "adb push busybox /data/local/busybox
6) "adb shell"
7) "cd /sdcard/"
8) "chmod 755 /data/local/busybox" (something like that)
9) "/data/local/busybox tar cvf dump.tar /system"
10) When it's finished, you will have a normal error like 'tar: error exit delayed from previous errors'.
11) Finally check the root of your SD card, you will find a dump.tar file, Here you go
What does busybox actually do and why does it come pre-installed on so many custom roms (at least for the DHD)?
And do you need it? Can't you just do adb pull /system, /data, etc?
Im using Simple root,I get as far as checking for p98img.zip part.It seems like it can find the img..zip file.i made a gold card 2 times.
Make sure its named exactly PD98IMG.zip
The capitols are important. Also make sure you don't have. Zip.zip at the end. Its a simple common mistake
Personally recommend the ace hack kit.. way way easier
No Hay de Queso No Mas de Papa
are you sure the PD98IMG.zip file is on there ?
make sure you have the phone set to (charge only) after you make the gold card and that you have fast boot unchecked and usb debugging checked this way the program can push the zip file onto your sd card
I have to check and see if its named correctly its all in caps.I tried the ace hack kit but everytime I open the cmd prompt its says cannot open cause I'm not administrator.
Im pretty sure its on the SD card I connect my phone and I see it on there

No Hay de Queso No Mas de Papa
I turn it back on and when i go to step 3 it does some stuff then it shows a red triangle on my phone. Then it goes back to the menu on the cmd prompt
the last thing it says is echo off then i get device is offline then the red triangle
Do you have HTC sync installed? Make sure its turned off in this step. I have to relook at the manual haven't rooted in a while
No Hay de Queso No Mas de Papa

3 S-OFF, SuperCID and More
This will:
Once again temproot the phone. (Type exit and enter at the # prompt.)
Set Radio S-OFF
Set SuperCID
Remove Carrier SIMLOCK
Install Clockworkmod Recovery
Root the phone
Install RomManager
Install Superuser
Fix sound
NOTE: This is still the downgrade ROM, and not the latest and greatest,
but it will be fully functional at this point.
can you boot into hboot and see if you have son still?
also is udb debugging on?
still says son
ok not sure why its not working but you can try to finishing it manually.

:highfive: Hi there can someone help me ? I have look here, Google and none prevail.
Here's what I know so far, has to do with my SIM card cause when it's not installed I don't have that problem. It use to be just for CM roms but now a few AOSP and AOKP gives me this error. In CM9 had a french message telling me: erreur d'affichage de la zone utilisez un appareil recommandé
with CM10 I get this message about the process.android. But getting a few now on some AOSP and AOKP roms.
Did a full wipe everytime, tried disabling, deleting everything going to auto sync disabled, deleting contactprovider data I'm really lost and getting annoyed of beeing able to just flash a ''few'' roms.
Does any had the problem fixed ?
Thanks

Because that's normally a problem with the MeteoMedia app or the weather being unable to get your location for some reason.
What is the exact message you get with CM10?
Try to put the phone in English US and select a "known" location for the weather, something such as Montreal if you're used to selecting a smaller city.
No cannot be that I have no apps whatsoever about weather. I flash from the original ''stock'' custom roms. I get that problem only when I have my SIM inserted too. I tried to set up in english with SIM and without, not set up in both languages without the SIM card and still no luck. Very odd and cn't find any info related as well.
Thanks alot by the guys I apprecate that ALOT.

Again, what is the exact message regarding the com.android.phone process?
I don't mind if it's in French, by the way.
Edit: Try setting your timezone manually instead of automatically. Settings > Date and Time. Uncheck Automatic Date/Time and Automatic Timezone. Set yours accordingly.
Malheureusement, le processus com.android.phone s'est arrêté.
That's what I get like message. I tried what you asked about the time in your last post and it didn't work. Just saw a post from a guy and he's with Videotron and has the same issue so I think it's a Videotron our carrier's SIM card. But odd that only 2 people are complaining about this issue.
Thanks again appreciate your help

So do you still get the "erreur d'affichage de la zone utilisez un appareil recommandé" error at boot, or just the com.android.phone process one?
Try to manually select your network operator in the settings instead of automatically, or the other way around.
In CM9/10, Settings > More > Mobile networks > Network Operator.
Nope I don't get the Erreur de la zone...only the process.com.phone error...And I will try as you said in the previous post about setting it manually.
Right now the only workaround I found is to not wipe data when I install the rom and I don't get the error.
On top of working rom I Wipe cache and dalvik then flash a rom (with the process.com.android error) and then flash cache and dalvik again and reboot.
Seems to work ok so far.
But still I will try a full wipe and try manual settings. Will let you know thanks again.
Have you tried a different SIM card?
Sorry about the delay was on vacation And still no luck still stuck with the same error even when I applied your tricks. I even tried with a different SIM card but from the same service provider. Had the same error. I will try my old SIM card as soon as I find it and try and see....
Thanks alot guys
Have you tried logging when error occurs via Logcat or DDMS:
ADB:
1. Connect device via USB.
2. Make sure Debugging is ON.
3. Open CMD Prompt and Type:
adb logcat -v long
DDMS:
1. Connect device via USB.
2. Make sure Debugging is ON.
3. Open CMD Prompt and Type:
ddms
DDMS window will open.
4. Select your device on the top left panel.
5. You can see all messages now being logged. For any problems, where it says 'verbose' choose 'Error' on the dropdown box You can also use 'warn'.
Well thanks again I have been working on this DDMS thing all day and the logcat. I see lots of error and trying to figure out since it's the first time i'm using this DDMS and logcat but can't be too hard. Thanks alot there the DDMS log if you want regarding the com.android.phone error. Incomplete but I get the error at the begining where it says Main fatal error.
Thanks lot everyone really really.
And now with JellyBelly 1.0 I don't have any com.android.process error I'm back with Erreur de l'affichage de la zone :s
At least I can maybe suspect that the problem has something to do with my SIM card not able to connect with my providers network.
Thanks again guys
Finally solved
Was about time I was going nuts over this and on top of that I only I think 2 roms that I was able to flash without having this stupid error.
The problem was.......Drum roll Stk.apk a.k.a Sim Tool Kit. I just deleted it from the zip file and flash the new zip and voila stupid problem solved....
Or if it's already installed on your phone just remove with (i used Root Explorer) the apk in system/app and Stk in dalvik then just reboot and no more annoying message and everything works great.
Thanks to all of your replies and solutions...I appreciate it alot

IMEI and all other Android's network settings are stored in /EFS and/or /NVRAM partition. If you didn't backup this partition before flashing new OS you probably will have no luck, IMO.

first of all, you need super user permissions, then run this scripts in android terminal; you can do it on recovery, but you need to modify the lines, or copy and paste manually.
